Summary
Banished to a distant southern island after falling out of favor with the Crown Prince, the magician Lowie found himself relishing his newfound freedom—at least for a little while. But soon, loneliness and melancholy began to creep in. Unable to bear it any longer, Lowie decided to purchase a slave.
Only to discover… his slave used to be a holy knight?
“More than that, I’m curious about something else.”
“Pardon?”
“Have you really killed a demon before?”
Lowie’s eyes sparkled with childlike curiosity.
“…So let me get this straight. You were the Commander of the Elysion Order, the Holy Knights, and the sacred sword originally belonged to you—but you had no money, so the sword was sold… and then you were sold too?”
“That’s… correct.”
At such a pitiful summary of his life, Ban bowed his head in shame.
“And you actually didn’t even like being a Commander, so you decided to just live the rest of your life as my slave?”
“That’s not quite what I—”
He hadn’t said that much, had he? He’d merely confessed that after fulfilling his divine mission, he’d been left with a hollow emptiness inside. Yet somehow, Lowie had interpreted that in that way. Ban’s expression grew subtly conflicted.
“But so what? The Elysion Order’s already fallen apart, hasn’t it? What difference does God make anymore?”
“Fallen—well, it’s not quite fallen…”
“They said it’s a tourist site now.”
Lowie clearly remembered what the auctioneer had said during the sale.
“Told me to go visit it sometime, since it’s open for sightseeing.”
“……”
“Anyway, it’s not that big of a deal. Gods or whatever—they’re all the same. From now on, you’re mine, and it’s only natural for a master to take care of what belongs to them. If anything dangerous happens, call for me.”
I’ll protect you.
With his chin lifted confidently, Lowie declared it as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.
