After Admitting The Wrong God They Regret It - Chapter 14
When the news reached the Brilliant Star, an auction was in progress. The only items that garnered everyone’s attention and triggered a frenzied bid were the seeds produced by the deity’s spiritual power and items once used by the deity.
Amidst the excitement and madness, a royal notice regarding diplomatic trade changes with the demon race didn’t attract much attention. People casually scrolled past, criticizing the demons for begging for trade and now pretending to be defiant. It seemed ludicrous.
Having been banished for a long time, most of the Alliance had emerged from the shadow of the demons’ fierce and menacing reputation. According to statistics, over the past decade, the death toll from genetic diseases, due to the absence of deity protection, had surpassed a quarter of the total population.
Everyone knew how terrifying genetic diseases were, causing torment to countless individuals. However, compared to the demons’ plight, the lower star systems, which they usually pitied, now seemed like paradise.
This deliberately publicized data and comparison strengthened their devout belief in the deities. The imperial power continued to centralize.
In the grand hall of the imperial palace, the largest screen displayed the live broadcast of the auction. The crowd at the venue was fervently bidding, and the atmosphere was heated.
Yuanquan’s shallow golden eyes showed no emotional fluctuations. His slender and fair fingertips tapped on the table. “Has the trade restriction announcement for the demons been issued?”
The royal messenger, Tan Lu, standing behind the emperor and the prince, respectfully lowered his gaze upon hearing the question.
“It has been issued.”
“I’ve said it before; the price for the minerals sold to the demons earlier should have been higher,” Yuanlin reclined lazily in his chair. His platinum hair, slightly disheveled, covered his eyes, which appeared ominous beneath the tousled bangs. His smile was drawn, somewhat sinister. “After all, things that are too easily obtained are not cherished, right?”
Yuanquan remained silent as the hall’s large doors were pushed open by the chief guard.
Two people walked in from outside.
A young man with radiant golden hair smiled at the chief guard who opened the door. His tone was gentle, “Thank you, Chief Guard.”
The chief guard’s face instantly reddened. “Prince Yuelian? Why are you here?”
Yuanlin suddenly straightened up, standing as if he were a disoriented little boy. Seeing the chief guard blush, he appeared somewhat ferocious.
“I heard about the demon matter and got a bit worried. I happened to meet the Speaker, so we came to take a look together.”
Yuelian sat down, and the man behind him, dressed in a pristine white Speaker’s formal attire, with slightly wavy, short chestnut hair that gracefully hung down to his jaw, wore a similar color eyeglass frame on his right eye, giving off a refined and elegant aura. Despite his sophisticated demeanor, his appearance had a touch of allure. When he lightly smiled, there was a hint of charm.
This was the Speaker of the Alliance, Mò Jiǔzé.
This person could contend with the Emperor Yuanquan. Seeing him calmly standing behind Yuelian, it was evident that he was not afraid to challenge the emperor’s authority.
“Nothing to worry about; everything has been handled. Since the demon race is an exiled race and they have explicitly stated they no longer need our energy minerals, there’s no need for concern, Prince Yuelian.”
Yuanquan calmly shifted his gaze to Mò Jiǔzé. “What about you, Speaker? During the celebration, you didn’t get along with Xinghui, causing the deity to disappear. Don’t you have any reflections on that?”
“Didn’t Your Majesty try to find him properly?”
Mò Jiǔzé chuckled, his face beautiful, and his hazel eyes wavered for a moment before regaining firmness the next second. “For instance, why did the deity disappear just before the demons informed us that they no longer needed energy minerals? Your Majesty is intelligent; didn’t you have any doubts? Moreover, during the deity’s celebration, I naturally pledge my loyalty to the true deity. It was just a brief absence. Xinghui has a good impression of me; if he left for any reason, I don’t think I bear any responsibility.”
Yuanquan and Mò Jiǔzé locked eyes. Yuanlin slapped the table. “Are you saying the demons took Xinghui away?!”
Mò Jiǔzé took off his white gloves and wiped the lenses gently. “It’s just a guess. But if this is true, the demons might be disappointed.”
Yuelian also paused, not sure what he was thinking. Worriedly, he spoke, “The demons are already struggling, and my brother is cutting off trade with the Alliance. Isn’t this deceiving and harming them? If my brother caused this, and if the demons can’t endure it after he returns, we should help them. Although Mother dislikes the demons, I am a deity, and the demons are an interstellar race. I don’t want to see any interstellar race suffer.”
“Your Highness, you’ve always been so gentle,” Mò Jiǔzé softened his tone when facing Yuelian, “I believe the demons will soon discover the difference between Xinghui and a true deity. I hope they won’t be too angry. Encountering such a… deity, obeying your will, we will bring Xinghui back when the time comes.”
The pause in the middle was understood by those who knew.
Xinghui was an unwanted waste deity, a burden to the Alliance.
Once again, this recounting seemed like another confirmation —
The child that even the Abyss found repulsive.
Never needed by them.
In the demon territory, Xinghui had already lifted his head, allowing Yinfan to tend to the minor wounds and sunburn brought back from this trip.
The deity was indeed too delicate and fragile. Even the debris stirred by the storm could easily leave traces on his face, making him appear terrifyingly vulnerable over time.
Fortunately, as the top military doctor, Yinfan had done thorough research in this field. The medicines and instruments used had decent effects, and in a short time, everything was almost restored.
When Xinghui dealt with the issues with Brilliant Star and entered the room, he witnessed this scene.
The fragile deity still had slight bruising and red marks on his face, chin, neck, and even on the jaw. The eyes that lacked vitality added an extra layer of fragility and softness.
He didn’t know what Xinghui sensed, but suddenly he shivered, and the short tuft of hair on his head, matching his movements, trembled slightly.
“W-What’s wrong?”
Probably because he had truly found the energy mine for the demon race, the normally cold-speaking military doctor hesitated for a moment and then softened his tone.
Xinghui hasn’t felt a trace of belief from the demon clan, but he’s heard that they don’t have faith, so he isn’t surprised. Thinking about the god he needs to find, he shakes his head slightly.
“No worries, maybe someone is thinking about me from behind.”
As if calculating against him, a chill runs down his spine.
Xinghui doesn’t bother about it, sits up straight, and turns his head towards the door in the direction of Yuanyuan.
“Now that my identity is proven, can I explore around? I want to understand the level of development in our star system.”
“Our star system—”
As soon as these words come out from the neatly seated little god, Yinfan hesitates for a moment. Even Yuanyuan feels a strange sensation in his heart for an instant but quickly suppresses it.
For someone with capabilities, even if they have some peculiar temperaments, Yuanyuan can tolerate, especially someone like Xinghui who found a large energy mine for them.
Isn’t it just a bit of showing off?
No problem, it’s all acceptable.
Yuanyuan nods, walks a few steps to Xinghui, the proud man rarely bends slightly, extends his hand, and smiles leisurely.
“Later, I’ll take you to explore the surroundings.”
After spending two days together, Xinghui already understands his temperament to some extent. He’s a crazy but usually acts refined and gentle. Xinghui casually nods.
—Better to rely on oneself than others.
Hopefully, he can find a starship with automatic navigation in the warehouse!
Author’s note:
Yuanyuan: “We!” He said “we”! He has a sense of belonging! The big baby can’t escape now!
Xinghui: Starship, starship, where are you?
