- Chapter 8 - It Works Like This
“What if I wake him up?” Chen Ping stared at the Ghost Doctor and countered.
“Wake him up? Hehe…” The Ghost Doctor sneered, “If you can really wake him up, I’ll kneel in front of you and kowtow three times. From now on, when I see you, I’ll keep my distance!”
As a distinguished doctor, there was no way he could make a mistake. It was just a joke.
“Yes, if you really wake up my uncle, I’ll roll out of here!” Wen Zhaokuo chimed in.
“And me, I’ll lick the soles of your shoes!” Wen Hua’er added.
“Good, that’s what you said!” Chen Ping smiled.
Seeing Chen Ping so confident, Wen Wanli hesitated for a moment. Could this kid really wake up his older brother?
At this moment, Chen Ping’s gaze remained on Wen Pengcheng’s mouth. The entire room fell silent, with everyone waiting for the result.
“Sizzle!”
Suddenly, a faint sound echoed.
“What’s that sound?” Someone curiously asked.
Just as the question was posed, someone pointed at Wen Pengcheng, exclaiming, “Look, there are bugs crawling out of Mr. Wen’s mouth!”
This revelation surprised everyone.
“Kid, what’s going on?” Wen Wanli suddenly felt uneasy. After seeing the bugs crawl out, he couldn’t help but ask.
“Are you blind? Wasn’t I trying to save your brother?” Chen Ping retorted.
Just as he finished speaking, Chen Ping took out a silver needle and threw it towards the bug.
“Chirp!”
The bug was instantly hit.
“Got it!” Chen Ping grabbed the silver needle and looked at the bug, saying.
“What?” Everyone was stunned, still looking at Wen Pengcheng who showed no signs of movement.
“Hmph! Got what?” Wen Zhaokuo’s face turned stern. He shouted, “Didn’t you say my uncle would come back to life? Why hasn’t it happened yet?”
“Yeah! Cousin, now you should see through this kid’s true colors. He’s just a fraud. I can’t believe you believed him! It’s really ridiculous!” Wen Hua’er mocked.
“Niece, you need to be more discerning in the future. Don’t bring anyone into the family. Starting from now, you’ll mourn for your father for three years. As for the position of the CEO, you…” Wen Wanli’s words were interrupted by a sudden fit of coughing.
The Wen family members looked over in unison.
Chapter 8: It Works Like This
“It’s… Mr. Wen…”
“Mr. Wen, he… he’s awake!”
“He’s really awake!”
As surprised exclamations from the Wen family members echoed one after another, the once motionless Wen Pengcheng slowly opened his eyes.
“Dad!”
Witnessing this, Wen Xueer rushed forward. With tearful eyes, she called out, “Dad, Dad, you’re finally awake—”
“Splurt!”
At that moment, Wen Pengcheng coughed up a mouthful of blood, which landed on the bedsheet.
“Dad, what’s wrong? Mr. Chen, my dad—”
“He just spat out the toxic blood, nothing to worry about!” Chen Ping calmly reassured.
As soon as these words were uttered, Wen Zhaokuo and Wen Hua’er fell to the ground, their faces pale and unpleasant.
Wen Wanli was also left dumbfounded, entirely bewildered for a moment.
The Ghost Doctor, who had been watching the scene unfold, was also stunned, wearing an expression as if he had just been slapped. How was it possible that Chen Ping had actually revived Wen Pengcheng?
“Ahem…” Wen Pengcheng coughed a few times and slowly turned to Wen Hua’er. “Is… Hua’er, right? I… what happened to me?”
“Dad, don’t you remember? Some days ago, you suddenly fell into a coma!”
“Just now, I asked Mr. Chen for help, and he woke you up!” Wen Xueer explained.
“Chen… Mr. Chen? Which Mr. Chen…?” Wen Pengcheng looked puzzled.
“It’s him!” Wen Xueer pointed at Chen Ping, then leaned close to Wen Pengcheng’s ear, whispered, “He’s the king from the prison where Big Brother is.”
“What?” Wen Pengcheng was shocked, nearly yelling. His old eyes instantly regained vitality as he struggled to sit up.
“Xueer, help me sit up!”
“Sure!” Wen Xueer nodded and immediately helped Wen Pengcheng sit up.
“Thank you, Mr. Chen, for saving my life. I’ll never forget this favor. If there’s anything you need in the future, just ask, and even if my Wen family has to give up everything, we’ll make it happen for you!”
“No need for that. Your daughter, Wen Xueer, helped me, and I’m just returning a favor to her. However, I do have something now that requires Mr. Wen’s assistance.”
Chen Ping glanced at Wen Wanli, Wen Zhaokuo, and Wen Hua’er, saying, “When you were unconscious, some people from your family vehemently opposed my efforts, claiming that you were dead and beyond salvation. They said that saving you would be blasphemous, and to prove their point, they pressured your daughter into making a statement.”
“If I couldn’t wake you up, your daughter would resign from her position as CEO and mourn for you for three years. In the meantime, certain individuals planned to seize power!”
“Besides, they made outrageous statements, threatening to kick me out and even lick my shoes if I lost!”
Hearing this, Wen Zhaokuo and Wen Hua’er paled, immediately turning to Wen Wanli for help. Wen Wanli’s face darkened, about to speak, but Wen Pengcheng interrupted.
“Hmph! Is that so?”
Wen Pengcheng raised his eyebrows, looking sternly at Wen Hua’er. “Who is it? Mr. Chen, please point them out!”
Chen Ping glanced at Wen Zhaokuo and Wen Hua’er. “Who else could it be? Of course, those two sitting on the ground!”
“Uncle, it’s a misunderstanding, all a big misunderstanding! When the Ghost Doctor claimed that you… that something happened to you, we were worried, and, um, we feared that Mr. Chen would do something outrageous and blaspheme you. That’s why…”
Upon hearing Chen Ping’s words, Wen Zhaokuo was flustered, hurriedly trying to explain.
“Yes, Uncle. We share the same blood, and we would never do anything foolish. It’s all a misunderstanding…”
“You two weren’t like that before!” Wen Xueer looked at the frightened pair coldly, and said, “I treated you like my own family, and yet, you took advantage of my father’s unconsciousness to commit such treacherous acts. Truly unfilial!”
“Still standing there? Wen Zhaokuo, immediately get out of here!”
“Uncle…”
“Shut up! Get out!!!” Wen Pengcheng roared.
“I… I…”
Wen Zhaokuo, full of resentment, reluctantly turned away under the gaze of everyone. Wen Xueer, angry, shouted, “You dare linger? Get out!”
“I… alright, I’m leaving…”
Wen Zhaokuo, with a face full of bitterness, had no choice but to roll out of the room under the watchful eyes of everyone…
