After Marrying Bigshot Vegetable Boss - Chapter 25
Zhong Jiale hadn’t even reacted yet, still pondering the meaning behind Yulan’s words. But the next moment, Xi Yun heard the commotion and came out, smiling as she approached them.
“Why did you suddenly come over today, Lele?” She greeted Zhong Jiale while personally opening the door for him, still busy with introductions, “Xiao Yu, this is Chu Wang’s cousin, Zhong Jiale; Lele, this is the one you haven’t met before…”
Xi Yun didn’t finish because she saw Zhong Jiale’s stunned expression.
Zhong Jiale, with his little school bag on his back, felt like he had been struck by lightning even before entering the door. It was then he realized the meaning behind Yulan’s words and couldn’t move a step. “You, you, you… you…”
Yulan explained to Xi Yun, “Auntie, we happen to be classmates.”
“So coincidental?” Xi Yun probably sensed something from Zhong Jiale’s expression and showed an understanding smile before walking back, “Then you two chat first. I’ll go get some snacks.”
She left, giving the two of them enough space – or rather, giving Zhong Jiale, who seemed to still be in denial, enough space.
Some of Yulan’s previous doubts were resolved. Zhong Jiale came from a well-off family but sometimes had a naive and simple-minded way of thinking…
But fortunately, Yulan understood a principle well: as long as he didn’t feel embarrassed, the awkwardness would shift to the other person.
Well…
His brow still twitched as he remembered what Zhong Jiale had said to him two hours ago, about his plans suddenly changing because of his words. “So, your idol is…”
Yulan wasn’t embarrassed. In fact, he even thought for a moment and added, “Is it my husband?”
That sentence alone shattered Zhong Jiale’s disbelief.
Yulan intended to comfort him and walked over to him, putting an arm around him. “Look, isn’t this great? Originally, we were just ordinary classmates, but now our relationship has progressed further. And, according to family relationships, shouldn’t you call me sister-in-law—”
He didn’t finish the last word because he felt Zhong Jiale had turned into stone.
“…” What should he do now?
Yulan’s life experience made him adept at being clever, but dealing with this situation was rare. He was a bit unsure how to handle it.
But fortunately, he suddenly thought of…
Isn’t there still someone upstairs?
He coughed lightly and said to Zhong Jiale, “How about… we go upstairs to talk?”
This time, Zhong Jiale regained some composure and nodded, his expression still complex.
After waiting for a while in the room, Chu Wang didn’t expect that when he heard the door sound, the one who came in wasn’t just Yulan, but also someone he didn’t expect.
How did his single-minded brother end up following Yulan in?
And why did he look like he had a lot on his mind?
He maintained his composure and waited for them to approach. Yulan indeed walked towards him, took a step closer to his bed, and tapped him lightly, “Mr. Chu, I’m back.”
Now Zhong Jiale was like a sensitive plant, strictly watching every move Yulan made, not sure if he still believed it or had other thoughts in mind.
Chu Wang’s soul floated in the room, Zhong Jiale naturally couldn’t see him. Yulan cautiously glanced at the other person, then, when Zhong Jiale wasn’t paying attention, mouthed the words “help me” to him.
“What’s wrong?” Chu Wang first subtly curled his lips, then asked naturally.
Zhong Jiale couldn’t hear his voice, but Yulan could. So, the bedroom presented a somewhat eerie scene.
Yulan bent down to talk to the vegetable, seemingly affectionate, as if waking him up every day, but actually quietly explaining the situation, “I told you before that I found a friend at school. He just arrived downstairs, and I learned from Auntie. He turns out to be your brother.”
Chu Wang’s gaze fell on Zhong Jiale’s face, wearing an expression of “just die.”
“What did you tell him?” Seeing the other person’s appearance, he must have been hit hard.
But Chu Wang knew. His single-minded and idealistic younger brother had always admired him since he was a child, so he couldn’t accept it when the whole family wanted to set him up.
He had come to argue about it once, thinking it went against a vegetable’s wishes. So, on the day of the wedding, he didn’t come because he couldn’t accept it.
But looking at how shocked he was…
Chu Wang heard Yulan say, “I told him I met you at the mall last time.”
“And what else did you say?” Seeing his reaction, he must have received some shock.
But Chu Wang knew that his single-minded and extremely idealistic brother had always admired him since he was a child, so he couldn’t accept it when the whole family wanted to set him up.
He had come to argue about it once, thinking it went against a vegetable’s wishes. So, on the day of the wedding, he didn’t come because he couldn’t accept it.
But looking at how shocked he was…
Chu Wang heard Yulan say, “I told him I met you at the mall last time.”
Yulan showed a slightly shy expression. “He even told me that he thinks we’re very loving.”
“…,” Chu Wang’s expression was complicated.
Sure enough, with each word Yulan said, he saw Zhong Jiale’s expression of questioning life deepen.
The key point was that from Zhong Jiale’s perspective, it looked like Yulan was talking affectionately to a vegetable!
What did he say to Yulan before?
—You look so happy! A marriage is complete as long as there is love!
—Unlike me, the person I admire can’t decide his own marriage! It’s really regrettable!
—No, I have to go see him today.
Zhong Jiale’s reshaped worldview: Now, he just wants to die, really wants to die.
“It’s okay,” Chu Wang saw his expression, “just explain it to him, he’ll believe you.”
Finally, Yulan turned his head and glanced at the ceiling.
How should he explain this?
Chu Wang thought for a moment. “Just tell him what you told Zhang Yan before, but adjust it a bit. It’ll be fine.”
It wouldn’t have been so embarrassing if he hadn’t brought it up, but now that he did, Yulan’s face turned red, and he covered his face with his palm.
But Zhong Jiale finally recovered and said in a pitiful tone of being deceived, “Yulan, you’re not… how could you…”
“It’s like this,” Yulan could only bite the bullet and quickly regained his composure, “the relationship between me and your brother is not what you think.”
“What other kind of relationship could it be!?” Zhong Jiale exclaimed indignantly.
“I and he are, uh…” Yulan thought for a moment, “we’re soulmates.”
“Do you know what soulmate means? Soulmates!” Yulan finally found an anchor point and repeated it in both Chinese and English like a peacock.
This is a real soulmate! Who dares to say it’s not!
“Although in your opinion, my relationship with your brother is just for show, it’s not like that. We actually met long ago, our souls attracted to each other, and now he needs my care, so I came.”
Zhong Jiale, obviously easier to deceive than Zhang Yan, looked bewildered for a moment. “…Soulmate?”
Feeling like Chu Wang’s presence was affecting him, Yulan still remained calm on his face. “Yes, I actually understand him better than you think.”
Zhong Jiale still didn’t fully believe, hesitatingly shook his head. “It’s impossible, I’ve never heard my brother mention your name before.”
“But we’ve met before, you just didn’t know,” Yulan insisted.
Still skeptical, Zhong Jiale thought for a moment and asked, “Then let me ask you a few questions about my brother?”
Yulan, confident almost to the point of wagging his tail, but still sneakily glanced at Chu Wang nearby. “Ask.”
“What does my brother like to eat and dislike?”
Chu Wang floated over, expressionless, and interjected, “He doesn’t eat onions, and there’s nothing he particularly likes.”
Yulan directly recited the answer like cheating: “Mr. Chu doesn’t like onions, but there’s nothing he particularly likes to eat.”
“Then what time does he usually work out, and does he have any personal habits?”
Yulan thought he really was Zhong Jiale’s idol, gathering information like a fan.
Chu Wang’s voice remained calm, “He jogs at six in the morning, has a regular routine, and has a family gathering once a month.”
Yulan repeated Chu Wang’s answer word for word, even adding some gestures, “What kind of questions are you asking?”
Zhong Jiale’s pupils shook with shock, as if he couldn’t believe that Yulan really knew. After a while, he threw out another question, “What gift did my brother give me on my thirteenth birthday?”
What a bizarre question you’re asking!
Chu Wang’s expression remained unchanged, but he clearly had some opinions on his brother’s childish test. “I don’t remember.”
Yulan immediately preempted, “My conversations with Mr. Chu are not about other topics. How could he talk to me about his family?”
“Right,” Zhong Jiale nodded in agreement, “then…”
“If he asks one more question, just tell him—”
“How many relationships has my brother had?”
Both Chu Wang and Zhong Jiale spoke at the same time.
“…,” Although the soul had no breath, Yulan still felt the entire room’s atmosphere drop by a whole notch.
Thinking he was silent for too long, Zhong Jiale thought he had stumped him again and was about to speak, “You don’t know this either?”
Chu Wang’s voice came in coldly, “Tell Zhong Jiale to shake the water out of his brain. If he has nothing to do, he can go water the flowers at the door.”
Yulan actually felt a bit stunned by this question, so he repeated Chu Wang’s words without thinking, “Your brother wants you to shake the water out of your brain, and if you have nothing to do…”
Zhong Jiale suddenly jumped up and smoothly finished the sentence, “Go water the flowers!”
He looked like he finally believed, “So, you really know my brother, I misunderstood you before!”
Yulan: “…?”
Zhong Jiale reverted to his silly expression again, “My brother has told me this sentence before! You didn’t lie to me!”
Yulan: “…”
Feeling quite bewildered, he looked up and searched for Chu Wang in the air.
Obviously, Chu Wang didn’t want to admit that this seemingly idiotic person was his brother, so he turned away silently. “As long as he believes it, you guys can talk.”
He was about to walk to the closet but then casually added, “He’s never been in a relationship.”
Adding an extra chapter before~ There will be an extra chapter at night too.
