After Marrying Bigshot Vegetable Boss - Chapter 46
When Yu Lan saw Song Sijue arrive, he merely frowned slightly, not particularly surprised.
However, he had no intention of speaking with him, briefly glancing at him before looking away and stepping back to enjoy the show.
Yu Ling had already had his mask ripped off earlier and now couldn’t recover. He could only stand there with a stiff face, his voice much softer: “Sijue… Brother, why are you here?”
Yu Lan’s mood lifted significantly. He commented from the side: “Wow, I didn’t expect you to call him ‘brother’ so casually.”
Because he forgot to soften his tone while speaking, the term sounded very awkward, and Yu Ling’s expression became even more dramatic.
But Song Sijue wasn’t concerned with this right now.
“Is what he said true?” he fixed his gaze on Yu Ling, “Were those people who bullied the son of the dismissed employee under your instructions?”
Yu Ling hadn’t expected that someone else knew about this. The last time, those people hadn’t mentioned a fourth person was present, so they had managed to escape.
His lips turned pale as he suddenly remembered that when Song Sijue appeared downstairs in his dorm, he had casually said, “I went to deliver some materials to a friend”…
So he had seen it back then?
“No, Sijue, I didn’t—I didn’t do that, I don’t know—”
“But the people who were bullied were indeed recently laid-off employees,” Song Sijue seemed to have learned the details in the past few days, his voice even and emotionless, “And I do recall one of them was the person who came down with you that day.”
Yu Ling didn’t know how to explain anymore and could only feebly try to make excuses: “I didn’t make them find others! Yes, they were closer to me before, but that was their own choice. I only found out later and have already told them not to do it…”
“You warned them not to do it by transferring money?” Song Sijue asked with a flat expression, devoid of emotion.
Yu Ling was stunned that Song Sijue knew even this and almost bit his lips to the point of bleeding: “Who told you? Who was it? Was it…”
“Does it matter who told me now?” Song Sijue lowered his gaze, “I thought you would at least know that this was wrong.”
Yu Lan’s frustration from earlier vanished as he saw the unfolding drama. He even fished out some seeds from his pocket and started eating them, clapping like a seal: “Wow! Sijue, you really investigated this!”
The scene had the feel of a typical awkward TV drama where the main characters were having a confrontation, and he was enjoying the view from the best seat as a supporting character.
The main characters continued their verbal exchanges.
“I was wrong. I had blindly trusted you before. I should have investigated more, used my own eyes and ears,” Song Sijue said, “Yu Ling, you’ve really disappointed me.”
“Everything you told me, I believed without doubt. I even really believed you were being framed. But now, it doesn’t seem like it was just your own production?”
Talking about this matter made Yu Ling so angry he nearly jumped up: “I didn’t!! I really did nothing that day. I just went to find him! It was him who splashed water on himself and framed me!!”
Seeing him so agitated, Song Sijue’s expression of disappointment deepened. He looked at Yu Ling with an incomprehensible gaze: “Xiao Ling, after so many years, how did you become such a person?”
Yu Ling truly had no words left. He pointed at Yu Lan, who was happily watching the drama, and shouted: “It’s you, you’re the one causing trouble—”
“Hey, hey,” Yu Lan raised his hands in a mock surrender, “Aren’t you two solving a problem now? Don’t drag me into this. Oh, by the way, isn’t there a school rule against bullying? Shouldn’t it be on probation and receive a formal reprimand?”
Yu Ling’s legs went weak, and he suddenly burst into tears, but this time it seemed more sincere. He looked up at Song Sijue and said: “I really am not like that, Sijue, please help me. I’ve been waiting so long for you to come back…”
“What do you want me to help you with?” Song Sijue asked.
Yu Ling, now disregarding Yu Lan’s presence, was afraid he might lose contact again: “You have a domestic project, right? And just finished a round of financing? Help my family. My—my dad is coming back. He can’t face the current situation…”
“And you said you were going to give me a gift, but I don’t want the gift anymore. Just help me…”
Yu Lan was enjoying the spectacle and decided to add fuel to the fire: “But the gift he wanted to give you, I won it at the auction!”
“And,” he smiled, pointing outside, “If you raise your voice a bit more, other students might come over.”
Yu Ling felt a chill all over and had no idea how everything had suddenly turned into this. His emotions completely spiraled out of control as he shouted at Yu Lan: “Isn’t this all your fault?!”
“I lived happily with my family. You were the one who disrupted our lives. You were the one who stirred everything up. If not for finding you, Sijue and I wouldn’t have called off our engagement. What will make you let me go?”
“Hmm, yes, yes, yes, my fault, my fault,” Yu Lan looked a bit bored after watching for a while, “You were the one who enjoyed these things but thought they should be yours. You were supposed to have a relief marriage but didn’t, so why do you think everything should belong to you?”
Yu Ling’s whole body was trembling, and he even wanted to reach out—
“What are you trying to do?”
Before Yu Ling could touch him, his wrist was grabbed by Song Sijue.
Although Song Sijue had reprimanded him, his voice when speaking to Yu Lan was especially gentle and concerned: “Mr. Yu, are you alright? I hope you weren’t too frightened.”
Yu Lan smiled and shook his head: “I thought you might be upset with me for winning the cufflinks.”
His smile was dazzling, and Song Sijue unconsciously said, “No… how could I be?”
“I’ve offended you before, and no matter how much I apologize, it won’t be enough.”
Yu Ling was stunned not only by Song Sijue’s restraint but also by his attitude towards Yu Lan.
He looked up in disbelief: “Brother Sijue, if you’re resentful towards me, that’s my fault, but why are you still speaking kindly to him?”
Song Sijue seemed slightly annoyed by Yu Ling’s voice but managed to maintain his composure and simply said, “Enough.”
He turned back to Yu Lan, his voice once again gentle: “I actually came today to clarify things with you. Since we’ve met, I can apologize in person.”
He bent down slightly: “I apologize once more for my previous remarks.”
Yu Ling, who was trying to break free, looked at Song Sijue in disbelief: “Song Sijue! He’s Yu Lan! He’s married to a vegetable! Don’t tell me you have any intentions towards him?!”
Yu Lan had already stood up and was ready to leave. He reluctantly accepted Song Sijue’s apology and added: “By the way, I’m still your younger brother in front of others. If you continue acting crazy, I can’t guarantee they won’t find out everything.”
Yu Ling seemed to lose all his strength and sank to the ground in a panic.
Yu Lan had the driver park the car at the entrance and didn’t intend to stay any longer.
However, just as he was about to leave, he seemed to want to make Yu Ling suffer a bit more. He turned back, squatted in front of him, and, as if they were truly close siblings, spoke in a tone only the two of them could hear: “I told you, if you’re going to go crazy, you should learn from me. You’re still too unprofessional.”
Then he left without looking back.
There will be a second update, though I don’t know the time yet. I need to attend to other things first (fallen prey to the Cao family).
It was awkward yet satisfying to write, so I decided to quickly start the next chapter to overshadow this awkwardness.
