After Marrying Bigshot Vegetable Boss - Chapter 64
Although Chu Wang said that, he still knew his limits and understood that suddenly acting this way toward Yu Lan might be a bit too much.
While he did have desires, he also intended to playfully tease Yu Lan.
When Chu Wang looked up, Yu Lan seemed momentarily stunned by his words, his actions coming to a halt.
Yu Lan’s lips were still moist, with a hint of suggestiveness, but his eyes were blank with surprise, unsure if he hadn’t grasped the meaning of the words or was simply stunned.
Chu Wang’s previous flirtatious thoughts hadn’t dissipated and, in fact, Yu Lan’s expression seemed particularly endearing. He had to control himself to keep his expression from changing and continued to gently rub Yu Lan’s waist.
Chu Wang felt that he had been somewhat uncontrollable lately and often berated himself internally.
Yet, every time he met Yu Lan’s eyes, Chu Wang felt he was quite rational.
For instance, right now he had to endure and decided he should give Yu Lan some space.
Chu Wang tilted his head and lightly nipped at Yu Lan’s chin, then restrained himself from losing control. He spoke in a hoarse voice, “Forget it.”
Despite his words, he only slightly eased his grip, using his remaining self-control to push Yu Lan away a bit, then said, “You should get down.”
Unexpectedly, Yu Lan either didn’t respond or had become quite accepting over the past few days. He blinked and almost automatically asked, “Are you going to the…?”
Chu Wang thought Yu Lan had misunderstood and was about to say he could just take a shower if needed. However, Yu Lan continued with another question.
“Even though you can stand and move around now, isn’t it still a bit strenuous? Won’t it be painful to…?”
Yu Lan’s eyes widened slightly as he asked curiously.
Chu Wang’s already fragile self-control shattered completely with this last question. His fingers, which he had been trying not to hold onto tightly, tightened again as he pulled Yu Lan back as soon as Yu Lan tried to leave.
“Do you even know what you’re saying?” Though he asked, it seemed Chu Wang had no intention of letting go.
Yu Lan only then realized his earlier remark, belatedly understanding that he did have a choice to refuse. He was about to stand up, but there was no room to resist.
“It’s not impossible to…,” Chu Wang’s voice was calm but had an assertive edge Yu Lan hadn’t seen before.
“But since you’re concerned about my legs, that suggestion isn’t too bad.”
Realizing what Chu Wang implied, Yu Lan’s scalp tingled, and he desperately tried to break free. However, Chu Wang, who had been actively exercising and rehabilitating, didn’t lessen his strength. He easily restrained Yu Lan’s aimless flailing hands and kissed his fingertips.
Feeling Chu Wang’s lips, Yu Lan finally stopped struggling.
He thought Chu Wang might just be trying to scare him, and was about to relax a bit when he realized that Chu Wang’s action of kissing his fingertips had changed.
Chu Wang lowered his head slightly, opened his mouth as he kissed, and then took Yu Lan’s index and middle fingers into his mouth.
Chu Wang’s legs weren’t fully healed, so running was still difficult and he was somewhat stiff.
But his tongue was not.
Yu Lan shivered all over, feeling an unexpected rush of emotions.
When Chu Wang’s right hand slipped under his shirt, Yu Lan heard Chu Wang’s somewhat muffled and damp voice.
“If you don’t know what to do, just hold onto my neck.”
It was surprisingly smooth.
After a long time, Yu Lan’s limbs felt weak. He was almost entirely limp, leaning on Chu Wang, holding his neck, and breathing lightly.
“…I suppose we can’t keep the wheelchair.” After some time, Yu Lan finally said through gritted teeth.
“Isn’t the quality good?” Chu Wang patted his back.
“Is this what you call good quality?!”
Yu Lan was infuriated and was about to vehemently argue against this view when he heard Chu Wang say, “Baby, put on some clothes. You’re sweating a lot; don’t catch a cold.”
The sudden use of “baby” made Yu Lan’s heart skip a beat, and he realized the meaning of Chu Wang’s words: “Didn’t you say you—”
He couldn’t continue.
And now, wasn’t he the one who didn’t want to come out?!
Yu Lan, with his weak hands, pushed against Chu Wang’s shoulders: “Then, then you need to let me out first…”
As he spoke, he tried to stand up gently. However, as soon as one leg touched the ground, Yu Lan almost fell, making a loud noise.
Fortunately, Chu Wang caught him. As soon as Yu Lan steadied himself, he tried to rush to the bathroom, hissing, “Get a cheaper wheelchair next time!”
Just as he reached the bathroom and was washing his lower abdomen with the shower head, he suddenly noticed the surrounding light dimmed.
Chu Wang had somehow appeared in front of him, the man who had claimed he was “leg-weary” and “unable to stand” was now significantly taller than Yu Lan and had even kindly taken the shower head, saying, “Let me do it.”
Yu Lan was both angry and embarrassed: “So your legs are really healed?!”
“I said that when I proposed to you,” Chu Wang replied candidly. “You didn’t believe me then.”
Implying that Yu Lan should believe it now.
Yu Lan almost wanted to push him out, but the bathroom was small, leaving him with little room to retreat.
He felt Chu Wang’s blushing breath and the shower head now in Chu Wang’s hand.
His resistance grew weaker, but perhaps out of residual strength, Yu Lan still instinctively avoided looking at Chu Wang for too long.
Although sitting on Chu Wang’s lap earlier had sapped some of Yu Lan’s energy, Chu Wang was very patient, seeming as though he wasn’t the same person who had been so assertive before.
However, he still didn’t go downstairs for dinner.
Chu Wang found an excuse for him and arranged for someone to bring in food, persuading Yu Lan to eat it after a lot of effort.
That evening, Yu Lan mentioned the matter of Yu Ling. Chu Wang showed no surprise and said, “He tried to transfer schools before, but it’s not easy to change universities. His family’s development abroad is stagnant, and they’re still in debt. They can’t afford to send him abroad.”
“Not just that, he also has a lot of personal debt. How could he have the energy to live as a pampered young master?” Chu Wang spoke about these matters with a tone as if narrating an insignificant antagonist from a book.
Yu Lan was initially a bit conflicted, but now he had come to terms with it. He felt a bit of nostalgia when talking about it.
He hadn’t realized the so-called main character was like this. Perhaps his own appearance had changed the original storyline, but if Yu Ling continued with this character trait, the story might have turned out very differently.
The next day, as Yu Lan was leaving school, he encountered a middle-aged man he had never seen before.
The man was dressed in a relatively decent casual suit, with a touch of gray in his hair, but his demeanor suggested he was a successful person who had seen the world.
Though it was called an encounter, Yu Lan had actually noticed him. He had felt someone watching him since he arrived at school, and the gaze was still there after class. Curious, he eventually found the person whose gaze was fixed on him, not bothering to look away.
It might have been intuition or because the man’s gaze was not malicious or merely gossipy. Yu Lan decided to approach him out of curiosity.
“Who are you?”
Unexpectedly, the man seemed taken aback by Yu Lan approaching him and didn’t speak immediately.
“Are you looking for me?” Yu Lan trusted his intuition and asked again when the man remained silent.
The man’s expression seemed to flicker, and he appeared somewhat complex, but he nodded.
“I should have known you wouldn’t want to see me,” the man said with a hint of self-mockery. “Pretending not to know me isn’t necessarily a bad thing.”
Yu Lan frowned—he really didn’t recognize him!
Just then, a thought struck him. The man might be Liang Zhiyu’s husband, who hadn’t appeared in the book yet. By default, he would be the biological father of the original host…
Yu Lan took a while to remember his name, since he hadn’t appeared much: “Yu… Hong?”
The man didn’t seem to mind being called by his name and confirmed with a nod.
Yu Lan became instantly alert.
With Yu Ling absent and Song Sijue back, what trouble was this?
Seeing Yu Lan’s wary expression, Yu Hong looked somewhat embarrassed and said, “Don’t worry, Yu Lan. I’m not here to cause trouble.”
“Then what are you here for?” Yu Lan remained cautious and asked. “I’ve called a driver to pick me up. There’s surveillance at the school gate, so you’d better not have any other intentions.”
Yu Hong finally showed a bit of helplessness and disappointment. “Well, it’s good that you’re so vigilant. It’s deserved.”
Yu Lan had never felt much connection to his relatives, and since this was a character from the book rather than his own father, he didn’t feel any different.
Yu Hong continued, “Our villa here has been auctioned off. The only remaining project is not here, so we’re leaving.”
“I just returned to the country recently. I’ve been going through the process for the past few days. Today, I had some time, so I wanted to take a look.”
“I just wanted to see what you look like.” Yu Hong sighed as he looked at Yu Lan. “It seems you’re doing quite well.”
“Better than before, at least.” Yu Lan admitted honestly, “It’s definitely a lot better.”
“And what’s the point of you coming to play the father role now? Don’t you know what they’ve done?”
“I know about it.” Yu Hong recalled Liang Zhiyu and Yu Ling’s argument in front of him that day and found it almost laughable. “I don’t expect you to recognize me as your father.”
But since Liang Zhiyu and Yu Ling were not normal people, Yu Lan clearly didn’t believe him and asked suspiciously, “Really?”
Yu Hong nodded.
“I use work to escape family relationships, and I’m not innocent.” Yu Hong laughed sarcastically. “I just didn’t expect it to end up like this.”
“As long as you’re doing well, that’s enough. You don’t need to acknowledge my identity.”
“It’s fine,” Yu Hong’s voice carried a note of melancholy. “Just don’t come back.”
“Go wherever you’re happy, no need to step back into the quagmire.”
And with that, the chapter wrapped up. There might be one or two chapters left.
