After Rebirth, Married to a Deadly Enemy - Chapter 32
In the 99th planet of the Cancer Galaxy, Third Prison.
Xiangyan was holding a piece of paper, writing something on it. A fellow inmate approached with a meal box, stood beside him for a while, and asked, “What are you calculating?”
“The activity of coagulation factor.” Xiangyan replied without lifting his head.
“Do you really believe the person who came to rescue you?” Over the years, there had been visitors to the prison periodically, all wanting Xiangyan to work for them. Initially, they hoped Xiangyan would agree to work for them in exchange for freedom. When Xiangyan refused, they offered an alternative – if he could provide a valuable formula for a potion, he could also regain freedom. Xiangyan still did not agree. Unable to persuade him, they resorted to bribing the prison guards, collecting the papers Xiangyan wrote in the prison. Once Xiangyan discovered this, he never wrote another formula on paper.
The two had been living in the same cell for over three years. Xiangyan hadn’t calculated these things for over two years. Now, picking up the pen again indicated an exceptional level of trust in the person who last visited.
“He was brought by Xiao Rong,” Xiangyan said.
“Do you really trust the person who came to save you?” The young man sneered, handed a bag of nutritional supplements to Xiangyan, and sat on the bed on the side with his own meal.
In prison, prisoners could only drink nutritional supplements. They had a chance to eat regular food only once a month. If one wanted to eat regular food more often, all it took was money or backing from influential people. After Bai Xiangxing visited, Xiangyan’s three daily meals were changed from nutritional supplements to regular food.
Xiangyan didn’t mind, took his cup, tore open the bag of nutritional supplements, poured it in, raised his head, drank it in one gulp, then frowned slightly, showing a disgusted expression. Apparently, the taste of the nutritional supplement wasn’t great.
“I don’t want to stay in prison forever,” Xiangyan replied to his roommate.
“We won’t stay in prison forever. At most ten years, and they will lose interest in us.” No matter how brilliant someone was, if they idled away in prison for ten years, they would become mediocre, and no one would pay attention to them anymore.
“At first, that was indeed my plan, but now it won’t work. I must protect my younger brother.” Xiangyan said firmly. “If I’m destined to deal with these people, at least the current me has bargaining chips.”
The roommate fell silent, eating his meal one bite at a time.
“Ziyu, don’t worry. Maybe I’ll be lucky this time. If I’m really lucky, I’ll come to pick you up.” Xiangyan smiled. “If I’m lucky, you have nothing to worry about.”
“You’re quite optimistic.” Dong Ziyu snorted.
“Really, I’ve looked into this Bai Xiangxing a bit before.” Xiangyan said. “He has done a lot of charity work.”
“For these successful people, doing charity is just a means to establish their public image. In reality, who knows what they’ve become?” Dong Ziyu had seen too many people like this. Their charity work was just a way to buy fame.
“When he moved Xiao Rong’s household registration out of District 64, he directly moved it into his own household registration.” Xiangyan said. “If he had ulterior motives, he wouldn’t need to do that. He could easily move Xiao Rong’s household registration anywhere he pleased. The day after Xiao Rong moved into his house, he sent him to the best school in District 1, where every student is a child of high-ranking executives from Capital Star. I know you might say that he did it to gain my trust, to get my formula, to recruit me to work for them – deliberately doing this. But isn’t that normal?”
Xiangyan had thought it through. “If they present conditions, hire me to work, and I think the conditions are acceptable, I will apply for the job. What I fear is being controlled again, threatened by others, just like before.”
Yes, it was normal. Having been in the dark for too long, people would instinctively resist. Wasn’t it human nature to resist anyone who wasn’t purely good?
Dong Ziyu contemplated for a while and suddenly said, “I’ll go out with you.”
“You?” Xiangyan was taken aback.
“I’ve had enough of the nutritional supplements here. Since you trust him, I’ll take a gamble too. If I lose, I can always come back, right?” If given the chance to leave, who would willingly spend ten years in prison?
“Okay, I’ll call Xiang Rong now.” Xiang Yan’s appeal process was almost finished, awaiting the court’s verdict to be able to leave. Coupled with the prison warden’s deliberate goodwill, Xiang Yan could now contact the outside world at any time.

Capital Star, Shi Family.
When Shi Zhen returned home, Bai Xiangxing was busy assembling something with Shi Ning.
“Is this from here? No, bring that part over? Is the program a bit messy? Anyway, let’s adjust it later…”
“Is this a holographic simulation chamber?” Shi Zhen recognized what Bai Xiangxing was tinkering with.
“Brother, you’re back! This is a gift from Xing Ge for me.” Shi Ning held a bunch of various colored plugs. Seeing Shi Zhen return, he happily exclaimed.
“What do you need this thing for?” Holographic simulation chambers were mostly used in military training to simulate interstellar combat.
“Playing games.”
“Games?” Shi Zhen was taken aback, carefully inspecting the simulation chamber. Then, on the metal outer wall of the chamber, he spotted a game logo – the hottest interstellar strategy game of the moment. He had played it back in college when they only had holographic helmets.
“Games have simulation chambers now?” When he played, they only had holographic helmets.
“Just released, Xing Ge spent an extra ten thousand star coins to snatch it for me.” Shi Ning was both happy and a bit embarrassed. “Actually, waiting a bit longer would have been fine. It’ll be available in a few months.”
“That won’t do.” Bai Xiangxing inserted the plugs in his hands, then went to take what Shi Ning had. “Our little Shi Ning is so cute; using a holographic helmet to play games is too tiring. From now on, use the virtual chamber.”
“Do you play Starcraft?” Shi Zhen looked at Shi Ning in surprise; Omegas rarely played such games.
“Yes, I play,” Shi Ning nodded.
“Didn’t you see that big helmet in his room?” Bai Xiangxing disdainfully glanced at Shi Zhen.
Speechless, Shi Zhen had spent little time at home, and even less in Shi Ning’s room after he differentiated. Later, when Shi Ning became an Omega, he visited even less.
“It’s done.” Bai Xiangxing connected the final wire and stood up, clapping his hands. “Do you like it?”
“I love it! Thank you, Xing Ge. I really love this gift.”
“Do you want to try it?”
“Yes.” Shi Ning nodded eagerly, about to lie down, but suddenly realized something. “Xing Ge, did we forget to move the virtual chamber into my room?”
Bai Xiangxing slapped his forehead, “Oh no, how did I forget about this?” He was so focused on giving Shi Ning a surprise that he dismantled and assembled it on the spot without thinking about moving it into the room first.
What to do now? Should they dismantle and reassemble it?
Seeing the mix-up, Shi Zhen found it amusing, but suddenly both of them turned their heads and looked at him. He had a sudden bad feeling.
“Big brother, can you help me move it in?” Shi Ning pleaded.
“It’s not even 500 kilograms; you should be fine.” Bai Xiangxing encouraged.
Shi Zhen:…
Being stared at with puppy eyes by two Omegas, what else could he do but help them move it?
With almost 500 kilograms of weight, even Shi Zhen found it exhausting without wearing battle armor. After placing the virtual chamber, he swung his hand and went downstairs. Watching his elder brother leave, Shi Ning suddenly asked, “Xing Ge, did you buy a gift for my big brother?”
“Why would I buy him a gift?” Bai Xiangxing was puzzled.
“But you increased the salary for all the employees at Xinshi, even gave Deputy Liang a set of battle armor, gave me a home robot and a virtual chamber. You also helped Xiang Rong find his family. Everyone around you received gifts, why did my big brother miss out?” Shi Ning felt a bit indignant for his big brother. In the living room just now, he clearly noticed that his big brother looked a bit disappointed when he saw the virtual chamber. “As Xinshi is getting back on track, my big brother has also contributed.”
Bai Xiangxing was suddenly caught off guard by Shi Ning’s question. He hadn’t noticed these details. After Xinshi started operating again, with money in the account, he immediately increased the salaries for the employees. The company’s success meant giving employees a raise to boost their motivation. Buying battle armor for Liang Chen was because he followed them to Cancer Star to protect them, and it happened while they were at the weapon shop, so he bought it on a whim. A few million might be a lot for others, but for Bai Xiangxing, who spent millions on a wristwatch, it wasn’t considered a big expense.
If one had to count, Shi Ning was the only one he specifically bought a gift for.
“What does your big brother want? He can buy it himself,” Bai Xiangxing said.
“It’s not the same.” Shi Ning shook his cute little head.
“How is it different?”
“Buying something and what my big brother buys are naturally different.”
“What’s the difference? Our bank accounts are shared. My money is also his to use. I let him spend all my assets, why would he need me to buy him a gift?” Bai Xiangxing said.
“What did you just say? Let him spend all your assets?” Shi Ning tapped his light brain, activating the recording function.
“Let him spend all my assets,” Bai Xiangxing repeated.
“Can I understand that you gave your bank account as a gift to my big brother? From now on, all the money you earn will be spent by my big brother.” Shi Ning pressed on.
“Is that so?” Bai Xiangxing felt something was off, but couldn’t resist Shi Ning’s persistent questioning. He nodded, “Yes.”
On the other side, Shi Zhen had just poured a glass of water in the kitchen when a voice message arrived on his light brain. He opened it and found it was from his younger brother Shi Ning.
Sending messages at home? Though finding it strange, Shi Zhen still played the voice message. Soon, the conversation between Bai Xiangxing and Shi Ning echoed in the kitchen.
Bai Xiangxing: “Let him spend all my assets.”
Shi Ning: “Can I understand that you gave your bank account as a gift to my big brother? From now on, all the money you earn will be spent by my big brother.”
Shi Ning: “Is that so?”
Bai Xiangxing: “Yes!”
Is a bank account considered a gift? Shi Zhen, using shared permissions, entered Bai Xiangxing’s account and observed the impressive amount, enough to buy seven or eight Level 4 battle armors. He discreetly curled his lips.
