After The Soft And Cute Beauty Marries The Wolf King - Chapter 15
On the first day after Lang Sa’s departure, Xie Zhiqing’s life continued as usual. He helped Lang Xiaoxiao comb her hair, took Fufu and Ateus for a stroll, and then returned home to wash up and sleep.
On the second day after Lang Sa’s departure, Xie Zhiqing visited the vegetable garden and had a brief chat with Lu Lingling.
Lu Lingling picked a large Chinese cabbage for him, and Xie Zhiqing happily accepted it, planning to make cabbage and tofu hot pot with the help of the chef.
However, the cabbage was too large for both Xie Zhiqing and Lu Lingling, who were slender and weak. Neither wanted to carry such a big cabbage for a long distance. Eventually, Xie Zhiqing called Ateus to carry the cabbage home.
The cabbage and tofu hot pot turned out delicious. The chef, also hired by Lang Sa, brought many Central Plains spices, filling the kitchen. The chef’s cooking skills were excellent, and the taste resembled that of the dishes in the An Yu Imperial Palace.
Xie Zhiqing enjoyed a hearty meal.
After lunch, Xie Zhiqing played with Fufu for a while.
He lay on his side, watching Fufu nestled in his arms, squirming and sniffing around. Xie Zhiqing, holding the little rabbit, couldn’t help but exclaim, “Fufu, you’re so cute.”
Turning Fufu over in his arms, he said, “Later, I’ll go buy some fabric to make clothes for you, okay?”
Fufu rubbed its forehead against his fingers, obediently nestling in his neck.
Unknowingly, Xie Zhiqing fell asleep.
He didn’t take off his clothes or cover himself with a blanket; he just lay on the pallet and fell asleep.
Fufu hopped away from his side, shaking its ears left and right, looking around.
At this moment, Ateus, who had been quietly lying in the corner, walked over. It used its head to push Fufu aside, picked up a thin blanket, and covered Xie Zhiqing. However, the blanket was too short, covering his upper body but leaving his legs exposed. Ateus tried to adjust the blanket but gave up, covering Xie Zhiqing’s upper body and using itself as another blanket, pressing on his feet.
Fufu squeaked on the side. Ateus then got up, picked it up, and placed it in Xie Zhiqing’s arms.
Fufu seemed satisfied, shaking its ears contentedly.
Ateus returned to lie at Xie Zhiqing’s feet, using its thick wolf fur on its belly to warm the bare feet of the little prince.
When he woke up again, it was already evening.
Xie Zhiqing felt relaxed all over, sat up, stretched, and quickly caught Fufu slipping from his arms.
He moved his feet, patted Ateus on the head, saying, “The fur on your belly is so warm. Thank you, Ateus!”
Nighttime life had nothing much different.
Dinner, washing up, and sleep.
However, perhaps due to sleeping too long in the afternoon, Xie Zhiqing felt no sleepiness at all in the evening.
He turned in bed for a while, decided to go for a walk.
Without taking Fufu or letting Ateus follow, Xie Zhiqing put on a thick cloak and went out.
With no specific destination and not knowing where to go, Xie Zhiqing aimlessly walked through the dark night. Before he knew it, he was already near Lang Sa’s secret base.
After his last visit, Lang Sa had carved some small steps at the edge of the cliff to facilitate Xie Zhiqing’s ascent and descent. However, these steps were not completely finished and resembled more of a small slope, uneven and bumpy. Clumsily, Xie Zhiqing slid down, getting his clothes covered in dirt.
He casually patted himself off, then hurriedly entered the secret base.
Last time, Lang Sa had hidden two small pigeons here. Xie Zhiqing wondered if there were any other treasures now!
Expectantly, Xie Zhiqing went in to take a look.
The result was disappointing. The place was completely empty, with nothing.
Not only were there no treasures, but the spacious cave was also unusually cold, with a chill in the air.
Xie Zhiqing didn’t stay too long and quickly returned.
Before leaving the secret base, he looked back.
It’s quite strange; last time I was here, I felt this place was warm and spacious. Why does it feel so cold and icy today?
Xie Zhiqing scratched his face, heading back home.
At the doorstep, Ateus was waiting for him.
Jogging a few steps, he said, “Ateus! Why are you outside? Waiting for me?”
Ateus rubbed against his waist.
“Let’s go home, it’s so cold,” Xie Zhiqing rubbed his hands.
Fufu was already asleep.
Xie Zhiqing went to check on it, poking the little rabbit’s buttocks through the gap in the cage with a finger. After that, he planned to wash up and rest.
Ateus stood by the bed, watching Xie Zhiqing wrap himself tightly in the blanket before shaking its tail and leaving.
“Ah, Ateus.” Xie Zhiqing called him, then somewhat embarrassedly beckoned him over, asking, “Last time, Lang Sa caught two pigeons, very delicious. Tomorrow, can you…”
He shook his head, smiling, “Forget it, I won’t be able to clean the pigeons. Even if you catch them, I won’t know how to cook them. Let’s just forget about it.”
Ateus rubbed against his hand.
Perhaps due to sleeping too long in the afternoon, Xie Zhiqing felt no sleepiness until now.
He lay on the pallet, chatting with Ateus.
“Do you and Lang Sa usually spend a lot of time together, always together?” he asked.
Ateus nodded.
“You two get along well.”
“…” Ateus turned its head, not giving any response.
Xie Zhiqing laughed heartily, “Don’t be so aloof!”
Xie Zhiqing continued, “So, when he used to go hunting, did you go with him?”
Ateus nodded.
“Oh, I see. Then…” Xie Zhiqing clutched the blanket, asked in a low voice, “How many days would he usually be away?”
Ateus tilted its head. This question couldn’t be answered with a simple nod or shake of the head. It just looked at Xie Zhiqing, blinking.
However, Xie Zhiqing didn’t really want to ask that question. What he truly wanted to know was…
“Is it always this long each time?” Xie Zhiqing’s gaze wandered, “How many days does he stay away…?”
On the second day after Lang Sa’s departure, Xie Zhiqing seemed to miss him a bit.
Lang Sa returned on the third evening.
Feeling bored, Xie Zhiqing took a stroll outside, aimlessly wandering like the night before.
On the way, he encountered several half-wolf people who warmly greeted him, calling him “Princess.”
Blushing, Xie Zhiqing accepted the title without making them call his name this time, just shyly agreeing to the address.
No one informed him that Lang Sa had returned. He leisurely walked back alone, just like yesterday, wandering aimlessly.
When he reached the doorstep, he noticed something was off.
There were a couple of clothes scattered at the entrance, with large patches of bloodstains, piled haphazardly.
Those clothes were very familiar; they were the ones Lang Sa wore when he left.
Xie Zhiqing ran over anxiously, about to push open the door when it creaked open.
Lang Sa walked out, smiling, “Where did you go?”
He was wearing a thin shirt, with a few cuts on his hands. Standing at the doorway, he looked down at Xie Zhiqing.
“…You’re back,” Xie Zhiqing said in a daze.
He suddenly remembered the blood-stained clothes on the ground, nervously grabbing Lang Sa’s sleeve and asking, “Why is there blood on the outer clothes? Are you injured?!”
“Just a minor injury, not my blood,” Lang Sa wiped his hands, leading Xie Zhiqing back to the room, saying, “Encountered a fox on the way, it’s the fox’s blood. I left the clothes at the door; you don’t need to worry. Someone will take them for washing later.”
Xie Zhiqing was led back to the room by him.
“Are you really not injured? Don’t hide it from me,” Xie Zhiqing still worried, holding Lang Sa’s wrists with both hands, asking again.
“No, just a few small cuts, nothing to worry about,” Lang Sa smiled.
He was about to take a bath, but seeing Xie Zhiqing so concerned, Lang Sa paused, pointed with his chin towards a distance, and said, “I’m about to take a bath; do you want to check?”
“…” Xie Zhiqing let go of Lang Sa’s hands, muttering, “You, really.”
Lang Sa chuckled with his head down.
Xie Zhiqing said, “When I went out just now, they said you hadn’t come back yet.”
Lang Sa shook his head, saying, “They really didn’t know—I came back first.”
He touched Xie Zhiqing’s face with the back of his hand, saying, “Wait for me a moment, I’ll take a bath first, can’t stand it anymore.”
Lang Sa finished bathing, and someone knocked on the door.
A small wolf sister, trailing an unretractable wolf tail behind her, stood with a few dirty clothes, asking Xie Zhiqing, “Princess, besides these clothes at the door, are there any others to wash? I’ll take them together for you.”
Xie Zhiqing thanked her and handed over a few more clothes.
The wolf sister happily left.
Lang Sa quickly finished bathing and came to call Xie Zhiqing to wash up.
It was getting late, and Xie Zhiqing quickly finished washing his long hair and returned to the bedside to rest.
When he came out, he saw Lang Sa messing with his braids.
Hearing the movement, he turned around and, looking at Xie Zhiqing, said, “Messed up hair.”
“I’ll help you,” Xie Zhiqing said.
He sat on the pallet, waved at Lang Sa, and said, “I’ll help you comb it. What a coincidence, the day before yesterday, I helped Xiaoxiao tie her hair.”
“Oh, really,” Lang Sa mumbled vaguely, got up, and walked to Xie Zhiqing’s side.
His hair hung loosely down to his waist, and the fresh soap horn scent on the strands was so familiar.
His face was clean and moist; Lang Sa touched it with his fingers, saying with a hint of regret, “Why are wolves color-blind.”
Xie Zhiqing couldn’t follow his train of thought, tilting his head and giving a vague “Hmm.”
Lang Sa didn’t continue and just grabbed his messy braid to show Xie Zhiqing, saying, “All messy, can’t manage it.”
Lang Sa’s hair, for some reason, had been trampled on. The fine braids had all turned out, piled up messily at the tail, almost forming a complex spider web.
Xie Zhiqing frowned at the sight, “What happened?”
Lang Sa blinked and made up a random story, “Oh, it got this way when a fox swiped at me.”
Xie Zhiqing got nervous. He immediately compared the messy part, finding that the chaotic mess was right at Lang Sa’s chest.
“Then, did you… Did you lie about not being injured?” Xie Zhiqing anxiously asked.
“…,” Lang Sa said, “I dodged, it only caught my hair.”
Xie Zhiqing looked worriedly at Lang Sa’s head.
“…,” Lang Sa couldn’t continue the lie, smiling and shaking his head, “I lied to you; I messed up the hair myself.”
He laid down on Xie Zhiqing’s thighs, fingers rolling the slightly damp hair, saying, “Lang Xiaoxiao told me you helped her tie her hair, I got jealous, I wanted it too.”
