From a nobody online dating to a top love brain - Chapter 31
Yu Nan switched accounts to message Beibei.
Nannan: **Did I disturb you last night?**
Beibei: **Hmph, you just leave me alone once you’re done.**
Yu Nan smiled even more as he teased him: **You’re so skilled, you can take care of yourself too.**
Beibei: **Want to do it together tonight? Let’s see who finishes first.**
Nannan: **Don’t be ridiculous.**
Beibei sent a voice message: “Wanna video call? I’m out for a night run.”
Yu Nan immediately put on his headphones and shyly asked: “Beibei, when you run, does your chest go *boing boing boing*?”
He was curious because in the comics he read, when muscular guys ran, their chests would go *boing boing boing*.
When Beibei first met Nannan, he thought he was very conservative. After they started dating, he thought he was actually quite open. But once he realized the senior he had admired was Nannan, he finally understood.Â
Nannan was the kind of person who was open-minded about everything but conservative in his actions.
Well… not entirely. He’d do things like video chatting with him, but that was as far as it went.
Beibei said: **”There’s some movement, but it’s not that intense. Stop thinking about dirty stuff. You naughty boy.”**
“Getting all shy now.” Yu Nan started talking about a strange dream from the night before: **”Last night I dreamt that you forced me to suck on your chest muscles. As soon as I let go, you hit me.”**
Beibei asked, **”Where did I hit you, you naughty boy?”**
Yu Nan let out a soft, playful whine: **”I’m not telling you.”**
Yu Nan then asked: **”Beibei, do you have any other boyfriends?”**
Beibei responded, **”Do you hear yourself right now?”**
Yu Nan laughed: **”You just keep running, I’ve got something to do over here.”** He checked the time, realizing it was late, and decided to go meet his parents.
After quickly hanging up and switching back to his main account, the group chat was as busy as ever.
Milk Tea: **The Affectionate Bro got a ring!!! His online boyfriend sent it!!!**
Kitty: **He must be so happy.**
Milk Tea: **He’s been walking around with his hand raised all the time. Can you picture it? Hand facing me, showing off the ring.**
Yu Nan bragged about Beibei: **My Little Clip also got a ring from me. It looks so good on him.**
Milk Tea: **His online boyfriend also sent him a tight, black, sleeveless shirt. He’s been wearing it every day, washing it at night and wearing it again the next day.**
Just as Yu Nan was about to reply that he had bought something similar for Beibei, he suddenly paused. All the details clicked together in his mind, and he came to a chilling realization.
His hands started trembling as he typed, **@Milk Tea: What’s the nickname Affectionate Bro gave you?**
“Lili, let’s go home,” Chu Luoyang suddenly appeared, breaking Yu Nan’s focus.
Yu Nan’s gaze stayed fixed on his phone as he followed him: **”Yeah.”**
Milk Tea: **He gave me a full name, something like ‘Heartless and Merciless’.**
Yu Nan let out a sigh of relief, his steps lightening as he caught up with Chu Luoyang. The night breeze was cool as it swept past them, carrying a faint fragrance.
“It smells so nice here. Are there flowers around?” Yu Nan asked, looking around.
But there were no flowers in sight. Even though he could clearly smell a floral scent in the wind, he realized that even when the wind wasn’t blowing, there was still a faint fragrance in the air.
Suddenly, the scent of smoke mingled with the air as a boy in black passed them, carried by the wind.
Yu Nan couldn’t help but move closer to Chu Luoyang, noticing that the fragrance was stronger near him. He glanced up at him and asked, **”Is that scent coming from you?”**
“Director Tea, listen to me—you’re going to be the only star in the music world, the legend of the Purple Star,” the boy in black up ahead said, and the words echoed in Yu Nan’s ears.
Yu Nan opened his phone, and sure enough, Rain is quietly falling had just sent a voice message in the group chat. The voice was identical to what the boy had said.
Jian Yi stopped in his tracks, confused. Was he hearing things? How could his voice be coming from behind him?
“When did you two add each other? Does your boyfriend know? I was supposed to be the first option,” Chu Luoyang said, sounding both sincere and playfully dramatic.
“What did you spray on yourself?” Yu Nan tried to bring the conversation back.
“Brother Yu?” Jian Yi turned his head, looking curiously at the two of them.
“You call him so sweetly, but I’m the first in line,” Chu Luoyang said arrogantly, addressing the boy in black.
Jian Yi quickly turned away, hearing more than he should. Was Brother Yu really that kind of person? In his eyes, he was just a big talker who only dared to date online.
And now his next boyfriend had a succession plan?
Yu Nan wished he could stitch Chu Luoyang’s mouth shut. He could say anything without thinking.
His phone buzzed, and sure enough, it was a message from Rain is quietly falling.
Rain is quietly falling: **I’m going crazy, Brother Yu, are you really doing a boyfriend succession plan? I know people are open-minded these days, but this is too much.**
Kitty: **What boyfriend succession plan?**
Dreams are everything: **I leave the chat for a little while, and now you’re all on a higher philosophical level?**
Rain is quietly falling: **I wanted to come over and chat, but your first-choice successor here makes me nervous.**
Dreams are everything: **Familiar words, but put together like this, they make no sense.**
“You should go ahead. I’ll catch up later,” Yu Nan tried to get rid of Chu Luoyang.
“For him?” Chu Luoyang pointed at the boy in black, looking incredulous.
Rain is quietly falling: **The first-choice successor just pointed at me, I’m scared.**
Rain is quietly falling: **Please tell him I’m withdrawing from the boyfriend succession race.**
Dreams are everything: **Can we video chat? This is too exciting!!!**
Yu Nan rubbed his forehead in frustration. He turned to Chu Luoyang and said firmly, **”He and I are just friends.”**
“Well, that makes us friends too, but I still like you,” Chu Luoyang replied matter-of-factly.
Yu Nan felt overwhelmed. How had things escalated to this point? Chu Luoyang’s confessions were so casual, it felt like he was just messing with him.
“Are you playing with me?” He asked, his voice tinged with frustration.
It was too much. He knew Chu Luoyang was aware that he had a boyfriend, yet he still kept saying these things. His eyes started to sting, and before he realized it, tears welled up and spilled over.
He tried to keep his eyes wide open, not wanting to cry, but the tears kept coming. He wiped at his eyes, pretending nothing had happened.
Another breeze brought the scent of roses again, but now his nose was stuffed up from crying, making it harder to breathe. Still, he refused to sniffle, too proud to let anyone notice.
Chu Luoyang stood there helplessly. Did he really come across as someone who was just playing around? Wasn’t this how you pursued someone? He didn’t even mind that Yu Nan already had a boyfriend. He was willing to wait.
Yu Nan’s eyes were red, his nose slightly swollen from the tears, and Chu Luoyang’s throat tightened. He spoke softly, **”I’ll help you wipe away your tears, okay? I’ll stop pursuing you for now.”**
Yu Nan didn’t respond. Chu Luoyang looked at the tear that lingered at the corner of his soft eyes and raised his hand to wipe it away.
But as his fingertip touched Yu Nan’s cheek, Yu Nan quickly pulled back, stubbornly saying, **”I didn’t cry.”**
Chu Luoyang felt a heavy pressure in his chest, but there wasn’t much he could do. **”I’ll head back now. Let them know you’ll join them later.”**
As soon as Chu Luoyang left, Jian Yi came over to Yu Nan.
“Yo!” He greeted happily.
Yu Nan, still upset from earlier, had no interest in talking to him anymore.
“If you were a stranger, I’d totally condemn your behavior, but since you’re my friend, all I can say is… impressive.” Jian Yi clapped for him.
Yu Nan asked, “Did you mention it in the group chat?”
“Hmm… what?”
Seeing Jian Yi’s guilty expression, Yu Nan opened the group chat, and sure enough…
Rain is quietly falling: **The ‘successor’ said, ‘Aren’t we just friends? I still like you, though!’**
Rain is quietly falling: **The successor bowed his head.**
Rain is quietly falling: **The successor touched Brother Yu’s face.**
Rain is quietly falling: **Is that a pose for kissing?**
Rain is quietly falling: **Oh my gosh, he bent down, but I can’t tell if they kissed or not.**
Rain is quietly falling: **Brother Yu pushed him away. The successor left.**
Yu Nan’s face darkened. He didn’t even know how to express his feelings. The night had felt like a rollercoaster ride.
He almost thought the junior was Beibei, only to run into Jian Yi, get shocked by Chu Luoyang’s first-choice boyfriend speech, and now have all of it broadcast by Jian Yi.
As they got closer, he noticed Jian Yi had a lip piercing. It looked pretty cool. He remembered him mentioning he also had a tongue piercing. “Stick out your tongue. Let me see,” he said.
Jian Yi complied. “Cool, huh?” he asked.
“Underage, you’re a bit wild,” Yu Nan remarked, genuinely curious. “When you kiss people, has anyone ever described how it feels?”
Jian Yi raised his hands in surrender. “I’ve never been in a relationship, so I have no idea.”
Yu Nan was a bit disappointed. In novels, kissing always seemed so exhilarating, and not just kissing—other things, too.
Their meeting was brief, exchanging just a few words before Yu Nan left. But it was no big deal—they’d meet again soon.
It felt like his break had barely begun when he was already back at school. Each night had been filled with joyful video calls with Beibei, and those days passed quickly.
He was the last one to return to the dorm. By the time he arrived, the others were already having a blast. Chen Feng’an and Li Muyang were laughing nonstop. As soon as he walked in, they pointed at the junior.
Bei Yuye had his hand raised, showing off a silver ring on his finger with a smug look. “He insisted on giving it to me, couldn’t help it. He loves me so much.”
“I’m impressed,” Li Muyang said. “He hasn’t put his hand down once.”
Yu Yu: **@Milk Tea, Affectionate Bro has completely changed.**
Yu Yu: **He’s like a peacock with its feathers spread out, glowing with pride.**
Milk Tea: **Has he been holding his hand up the whole time?**
Yu Nan glanced at the junior again and typed: **Hasn’t put it down.**
It was still pretty hot outside. After sweating a bit on the way back from the train station, Yu Nan quickly grabbed his clothes, took a shower, and climbed into bed.
Bei Yuye thought his senior would recognize the ring, but then he figured they were too far apart for him to notice. So, he deliberately sat below Yu Nan’s bed, taking pictures of his hand, not even bothering to turn off the camera shutter sound.
After making sure everyone could hear the shutter, he sent the photos to his senior.
Yu Nan opened the pictures, admiring them with a pleased smile. The hands with distinct knuckles were particularly captivating, but there was a faint sense of unease in his heart. A strange feeling of anxiety crept up for no apparent reason.
He leaned out of his bed to look at the junior below, who was still playing with the ring. “What were you doing just now?”
“Taking pictures. Sent them to my partner.” Bei Yuye raised his hand again, his tone full of pride. “It’s even engraved with the first letter of my last name. He loves me so much.”
