- Chapter 4 - Meet someone who sounds like you
**Good news, good news! All three of my roommates won’t be in the dorm tonight.**
When Yu Nan received a series of messages in the dorm group chat about his roommates not returning, he couldn’t stop grinning. He hadn’t expected his junior to also be someone who didn’t like staying in the dorm, but thinking about it, he had a partner. Yu Nan nodded understandingly.
He quickly took a shower and then came out to play games. He logged into his game account and started teaming up and chatting.
Milk Tea’s voice was the first to reach his ears: “Little Fish, say something.”
“What more do you want from me, to die?” Yu Nan replied.
Milk Tea: “I met someone today whose voice sounds a lot like yours.”
Yu Nan didn’t care, “I have a common voice.”
A message popped up on his computer; it was from Beibei.
Beibei: Can we voice chat for a bit?
Beibei really liked sending those cute emojis. He replied instantly: Sure.
He answered Beibei’s call on his phone and reconnected his Bluetooth on the computer, putting one earbud in each ear.
He really liked Beibei’s voice, with its slightly sweet tone at the end.
Beibei: “Baby, what are you doing?”
Yu Nan: “Playing a game.”
Beibei: “Then I’ll log into the game too.”
Yu Nan quickly stopped him: “It’s a different game.”
Beibei: “Really?”
His tone carried a hint of disappointment.
Yu Nan hurried to comfort him: “I don’t play this game often; I mainly play the one we play together.”
Another voice came through the other earbud.
Milk Tea: “Which game do you not play often?”
Mengmeng: “You can fool others, but don’t fool yourself.”
He typed in the team chat: I’m on a call with my partner.
Milk Tea: “Wow, you don’t miss out on either side.”
Beibei: “Okay, then can we video call tonight?”
Beibei: “I want to see you.”
After a moment of hesitation, Yu Nan decided to video call. He typed in the game chat: I’m logging off for now.
Milk Tea’s incredulous voice came through: “You just logged on?”
Milk Tea: “You’re so cold and heartless, abandoning us like this.”
His voice rose in anger: “Why are you online lovers all like this?!”
Yu Nan turned off the computer and climbed into bed.
When the video call connected, he felt a bit shy.
Even though they had video called countless times over the summer, it was the first time in the dorm.
As soon as the video started, he turned off his camera.
Their relationship had progressed quickly over the summer, likely because they had known each other for over a year, so they soon started video chatting.
Before this, he had never video-called with an online friend. Looking back now, those past experiences were unbearable to recall.
All rules can be broken!
Their video calls included everything but his face, with some principles but not many.
But now, in the dorm, he felt uncomfortable: “Beibei, I’m in the dorm. I don’t think I can.”
Beibei wasn’t upset and coaxed him, “Then, baby, you can look at me.”
It was clear that Beibei’s tone was full of a desire for praise.
On the screen, his physique was fully displayed. He was very confident in his body. Yu Nan buried his face in the screen.
He definitely deserved to be confident.
He said, “I want to see the tattoo.”
Bei Yuye leaned back on the bed, bringing the phone close to his tattoo to make sure Yu Nan could see it clearly.
“The colors are so vibrant,” Yu Nan couldn’t help but exclaim.
He touched the colorful tattoo, feeling a bit excited. This was the first time someone had gotten a tattoo for him.
Beibei: “Do you like it?”
He softly replied, “Yes, I like it.”
A colorful tattoo on a strong body, he liked this impactful image.
“Why did you get it in that spot?” He asked.
Beibei honestly replied: “Because you like that spot.”
Yu Nan couldn’t help but laugh: “I also like chest muscles. Would you consider getting another tattoo there?”
“Then I could suck on your tattoo,” he teased, feeling bold since the dorm was empty.
Beibei moved the screen up, running his hand over his chest: “Which spot?”
As Beibei’s fingers moved around, Yu Nan called out to stop, “Right where you just touched your heart.”
Beibei pressed the spot he mentioned: “Here?”
Yu Nan nodded, “Yes, right there. I like that.”
“Then what should I tattoo here?” Beibei’s voice turned husky.
The deep, magnetic voice whispered in Yu Nan’s ear, making his face blush.
What should he tattoo there?
He looked at the clean skin and thought about adding another tattoo related to him, feeling ecstatic.
But he didn’t want to be too direct, “What else do you want to tattoo?”
Beibei didn’t hesitate: “Another design related to you.”
His fingers traced the area, describing: “From here… to here.”
“Another colorful design, with fireworks, rainbows, stars, and moons. Maybe some small flowers too, but centered around your name.”
Yu Nan lay on his pillow, listening to Beibei’s description. If this were a real-life relationship, he could watch the design being tattooed on him.
“If you get another tattoo, record a video,” he said.
Beibei chuckled: “Want to see it?”
Yu Nan laughed too: “Yes, I want to see how the fireworks and rainbows get tattooed on.”
“Which letter should I add?” Bei Yuye carefully asked.
Yu Nan thought for a while. Even though they were only in an online relationship, he still didn’t want him to know his real name, despite their many reckless video calls.
But he still wanted Beibei to tattoo something related to him: “Tattoo ‘Y’, the letter ‘Y’.”
“Do you like this letter?” Bei Yuye asked.
Even though he couldn’t see him, Yu Nan nodded vigorously: “Yes!”
He liked how Beibei didn’t press for reasons, just asked if he liked it.
Beibei knowingly asked, “Do you want to see other places?”
Even though no one else was in the dorm, Yu Nan still felt guilty and ducked his head under the covers, his voice muffled: “Yes, I do.”
By the time he emerged from under the covers, it had been two hours. He took a deep breath of the fresh air outside.
“Did you come out too?”
Yu Nan, panting heavily, grabbed some tissues to wipe the sweat from his forehead, his voice hoarse: “Yeah, I did.”
“Tired?” Beibei asked.
Yu Nan, typically sleepy after satisfying his needs, replied, “I want to sleep.”
Beibei’s voice softened: “But you should take a shower first.”
He lay sprawled on the bed, his body covered in sweat. The cool breeze made him feel increasingly uncomfortable.
He grumbled: “But I already showered before. It’s all your fault.”
“Alright, alright, it’s my fault. I’ll take a quick shower first,” Bei Yuye said, then tossed his phone onto the bed.
The screen suddenly switched to a wrinkled bedsheet, and Yu Nan quickly called out, “I want to see, I want to see.”
The screen remained unchanged, making Yu Nan angry; he wanted to watch.
With a grunt of frustration, he reluctantly took another shower. By the time he came out, it was already past one o’clock, and he was truly exhausted.
The call was still ongoing. He called out to his phone, “Hello? Hello?”
“I’m still here. Do you want to leave the call on all night?” Beibei’s tone lifted.
He closed his eyes and gave a soft “Hmm,” then remembered the shower incident and let out another hum of discontent: “I didn’t see you shower.”
“I moved quickly, didn’t hear you,” Bei Yuye explained.
He gave another hum.
Bei Yuye patiently coaxed, “Next time, I’ll bring my phone with me.”
Yu Nan felt himself drifting off to sleep, barely conscious, and gave a final breathy “Hmm.”
Bei Yuye said, “Alright, sleep well, Nannan.”
There was no response from the other end. He softly called out a few more times: “Nannan?”
He turned up the phone’s volume and could hear the steady sound of breathing.
He placed the phone by his pillow, contentedly closing his eyes: “Goodnight, Nannan.”
The next day, when Yu Nan woke up, he was still groggy. Hearing faint sounds from his earphones, he was momentarily puzzled, then remembered the call was still ongoing.
His just-woken voice was hoarse and sleepy: “Are you still there? Beibei?”
“I’m here,” Beibei immediately replied.
He yawned and asked, “What are you doing?”
The screen came to life as he turned on his camera.
“I’m at the gym,” he said, panning around to show Yu Nan the surroundings.
Yu Nan couldn’t help but touch his own stomach, feeling proud of his own abs.
“I miss you,” he said sweetly.
Beibei echoed the sentiment, “I miss you too.”
Yu Nan started chatting about everything and anything with him.
“Why did you decide to have an online relationship?” He asked.
Beibei hesitated for a moment: “There’s no particular reason; I just wanted to date you.”
Yu Nan replied, “Speak properly and stop being coy.”
Beibei let out a playful hum, then became serious: “Our online relationship is just the beginning of our love story.”
Yu Nan drew out an “Oh” and realized he was getting hungrier the longer they talked.
“I’m going to eat. Don’t let my chest muscles starve,” he added.
Beibei asked, “Whose chest muscles?”
He answered matter-of-factly, “Your chest muscles are mine. Zoom in, I want to take another look.”
“You better train them well. I’m going to suck on them in the future.”
Beibei asked, “How soon in the future?”
He evaded, “The future is the future. I’m hanging up now. Bye, my dear Beibei!”
Before Beibei could respond, he quickly hung up. He loved looking at him but wasn’t ready to meet in person.
After all, the key to online dating is the “online” part.
Beibei liked sending him photos and sharing stories from his life. Yu Nan had a vague feeling that if the conversation went too far, he would suggest meeting in person.
This feeling wasn’t great.
Whenever Beibei brought up meeting in person, he would mention breaking up.
He opened his photo album and looked at the saved pictures of Beibei’s body. Closing his eyes, he thought if he brought it up too soon, he would just endure for a few more months.
After all, not everyone had chest muscles that suited him so perfectly.
