Yu Nan typed: Do you want to break up?
On the other side, there was no response at all.
Today, he not only missed his 8 AM class but also had no classes in the afternoon. He felt annoyed every time he looked at his phone, and he ended up sleeping all day.
When he finally woke up again, everyone had returned to the dormitory. He propped himself up and looked down; his junior was sitting below, wearing headphones and playing on the computer.
At least it was clear that his junior was free right now. He picked up his phone and sent a message: Can we talk?
After a long wait with no reply, he got out of bed to see what Bei Yuye was doing, standing right behind him without him noticing.
On the computer screen, their chat interface was open. Bei Yuye had just left the chat hanging, neither closing it nor replying.
“Reply to my message,” Yu Nan said suddenly.
Bei Yuye hurriedly typed: Military training is a bit tiring; let’s talk after it’s over. I don’t want to talk right now.
Even after this, he was unwilling to talk to him. Yu Nan felt a surge of anger and coldly huffed, “Do as you wish.”
Li Muyang suddenly sat up, surprised. “The school confession wall has someone confessing to Bei Ye.”
“Zhou Nan is confessing with his real name,” Li Muyang read out loud.
Yu Nan felt a wave of unease. He opened the confession wall to search for the confession about Bei Yuye.
When he found it, he felt a bit flustered. The person was a boy, and since it was a real-name confession, all the information was clear. Not only was he from the Arts Academy, but upon closer inspection, he was in the same class as Bei Yuye.
Since they were in the same class, couldn’t he confess in person instead of posting on the confession wall?
Zhou Nan had also posted a photo of himself—big eyes, small face, very cute, and not very tall.
From that day on, Yu Nan could find posts about Zhou Nan every day on the confession wall. That guy even started a countdown, claiming he would win Bei Yuye’s heart in a hundred days, recording his daily progress on the confession wall.
Kitty even recommended a social media account to him, which belonged to Zhou Nan. He was a beauty blogger who had been documenting his makeup process for a long time. His current videos still featured makeup tutorials, while he narrated his daily pursuit of Bei Yuye to his viewers.
Now, Yu Nan felt like a mouse living in the shadows, secretly watching his videos every day, but it was hard not to be concerned about it.
He was still in a cold war with Bei Yuye, while this Zhou Nan was openly pursuing him, and they were training together every day.
How was Zhou Nan pursuing Bei Yuye? Did he use the same tactics as Chu Luoyang, always saying, “I’m waiting for you to break up; I’ll be the next boyfriend”?
Ever since Chu Luoyang had communicated with Pei Yunchuan last time, he had been much more subdued and hadn’t approached Yu Nan again. Maybe he should let Pei Yunchuan talk to Zhou Nan about it.
He buried his head in his pillow and rolled around in bed, confused and frustrated. He really didn’t understand what those people were thinking, rushing in when they knew the other person was already taken.
Military training had finally ended today; if he got through this, he needed to have a serious talk with his junior. He needed to adopt a better attitude and sincerely apologize. His junior probably wouldn’t make it difficult for him, right?
If they had to break up, then so be it; he didn’t want anything to do with this frustrating relationship. Before meeting in person, he had been such a lively and cheerful kid, enjoying food, drinks, and fun. But ever since getting together with Bei Yuye, he couldn’t stop thinking about his situation with him, running it through his mind over and over again.
He shouldn’t have met in person; he shouldn’t have started an online relationship at all. He was simply blinded by looks. If it weren’t for this online romance, he would surely be happily chatting in the group instead of overthinking everything for Bei Yuye.
He was at fault. His biggest sin was being entangled with Bei Yuye alongside the gaming server launch.
He was heartbroken, feeling miserable, and his stomach growled—he needed to eat.
He ordered takeout, gradually returning to his previous state of sadness.
He went back to check Zhou Nan’s account and noticed that he had just updated a new video. It featured himself in military training attire taking a break, with Bei Yuye’s back visible in the background, captioned—“Me and His Back.”
Yu Nan typed and deleted his message back and forth, ultimately suppressing his racing heart to reply: This guy already has a boyfriend, right?
Before he could refresh the page, his comment was deleted.
He gritted his teeth in anger. How could he delete his comment? He nestled into his blanket, feeling helplessly upset.
Kitty: I saw the little guy in that video.
Milk Tea: Who?
Kitty: That guy!
Milk Tea: Got it, that guy.
Kitty: Yup, that guy.
Yu Nan typed: He deleted my comment.
Kitty: What did he delete?
Yu Yu: I said he’s pursuing someone who already has a boyfriend, and he deleted my comment.
Milk Tea: Your photo is still pinned in the Deep Affection Guy’s friend circle, so it’s fine.
Just mentioning that made Yu Nan furious: He posted my photo on his little account; how is that fine?
Milk Tea: ??? What are you talking about? He posted it on his main account.
Milk Tea: His main account is filled with relatives and friends, while his little account is for classmates and those sorts.
Yu Nan’s heart sank. He had assumed that since Bei Yuye had included him in his little account, he naturally classified himself among his close friends.
Kitty: I also left a comment in his comment section.
Yu Nan hurriedly went to check. He opened the comments and scrolled through the hundred replies under the video. It didn’t take long for him to find her comment.
Kitty: Is it the guy in the video with his back exposed? That guy has a boyfriend, though.
Someone replied her: The blogger said the other party is single.
Pei Yunchuan also jumped in, directly commenting under Kitty’s post: That guy is my friend; his main profile has his boyfriend pinned.
The blogger replied specifically to Pei Yunchuan’s comment: His main profile has no content, so you must have mistaken him for someone else.
Pei Yunchuan replied: That’s because you added him on his little account; all his friends are on the main account, so we all know.
Not long after, Kitty’s comment was deleted, and Pei Yunchuan asked Bei Yuye: That guy, have you told him you have a boyfriend?
Bei Yuye: Which guy?
Pei Yunchuan: Just that guy!
Bei Yuye: Which guy?
Pei Yunchuan forwarded the video to him: The one in your class.
Bei Yuye didn’t open the video and straightforwardly replied: Everyone in my class knows I have a boyfriend.
Pei Yunchuan: Okay, then for now, you’re in the clear.
After receiving this information, he rushed back to the group chat to tell Yu Nan that Zhou Nan definitely knew Bei Yuye had a boyfriend since Bei Yuye had no reason to lie to him.
Milk Tea: Affectionate Guy still feels embarrassed after being called out, but this little beauty blogger just gets bolder.
Yu Nan was fuming with helpless anger, having to watch Zhou Nan’s videos over and over. In each video, there were descriptions of Bei Yuye, like how he looked good in military training clothes or how he was nice enough to treat the whole class to milk tea.
It felt like a lump of cotton was stuffed in his chest, making it hard to breathe, and he felt utterly helpless.
Kittu: @Yu Yu, the little beauty blogger is going to confess after training!!!
Kitty: I saw there’s a new pinned comment in the video. Does he know that Deep Affection Guy has a boyfriend? @Milk Tea, the little guy isn’t going to frame you, is he?
Milk Tea: I have no doubts about the little guy’s character; he wouldn’t lie to me.
Kitty: You’ve lied to him before…
Milk Tea: Once training is over, I’m going to see what this little beauty blogger is up to.
Milk Tea: Our closing ceremony is about to end.
Yu Nan replied: I’ll head out too; I’m going to find Deep Affection Guy to talk.
The takeout had just arrived, and Yu Nan got out of bed to grab it. After finishing this meal, he was determined to clarify everything with his junior.
The weather outside was as muggy as ever, with an occasional hot breeze blowing by, making him feel sticky after just a few steps.
Pei Yunchuan said they were liberated; he had already gone to find Bei Yuye at the south end of the playground. Now, Yu Nan felt more nervous than when he first met Bei Yuye in person.
From a distance, Pei Yunchuan greeted him, but his gaze was focused on Bei Yuye, whose tall and upright figure was eye-catching. He had taken off his jacket, draping it over his arm, and the outline of his face under the hat was striking. The two weeks of military training hadn’t tanned him at all.
Pei Yunchuan stopped right in front of him, but Bei Yuye walked past him without saying a word.
Yu Nan reached out to grab him, a strange bitterness swelling in his chest: “Can we talk?”
Bei Yuye’s expression was indifferent: “Didn’t we say Saturday?”
Yu Nan locked his gaze on his eyes and said in a choked voice, “I don’t want to wait; I want to talk today.”
Bei Yuye swallowed, his lips tightly pressed together, remaining silent for a long time.
“Idiot, just break up already,” Yu Nan snapped in anger.
Seeing Bei Yuye’s expression made him even angrier; it was high time they broke up. Bei Yuye was clearly giving him the silent treatment.
“Bei Yuye, can we talk?” Zhou Nan came up to him surrounded by his friends.
Yu Nan felt a surge of irritation and coldly laughed at Bei Yuye: “Go ahead, talk to him. You’re so busy; let’s not talk today, but let’s talk tomorrow~”
A crowd had gathered around them, with Zhou Nan’s friends bringing flowers and speakers, and Zhou Nan had already made a big deal about confessing after training.
Bei Yuye still remained silent. Finally, he cautiously tugged at Yu Nan’s sleeve, asking tentatively: “Can we talk now, outside?”
He then looked at Zhou Nan: “Not talking.”
Yu Nan frowned but said nothing. He pushed through the crowd and walked forward, with Bei Yuye following closely behind.
They sat down at a small noodle shop. The area near the school was filled with these little eateries. Yu Nan had just eaten before going out, but he forced himself to order a bowl of noodles.
It happened to be just after class, so the shop was crowded. If they didn’t order something, sitting there would feel even more embarrassing.
“You’re not going to speak?” Yu Nan stared at Bei Yuye’s face.
Bei Yuye remained silent.
“Stupid,” he cursed again.
Bei Yuye looked down.
The noodles arrived, but Yu Nan was the kind of person who lost his appetite after getting full, so he pushed the bowl towards Bei Yuye: “You eat. After this, we’ll break up; let’s pretend we don’t know each other.”
Bei Yuye still didn’t move.
They had agreed to clear the air, but now it was just Yu Nan talking. He couldn’t eat the noodles, and Bei Yuye wouldn’t even touch them. After ten minutes of awkward silence face-to-face, Yu Nan couldn’t take it anymore and went to ask the owner to pack the noodles.
After packing them, he looked at Bei Yuye, who was still sitting there in a pitiful manner, and he felt annoyed. He kicked his chair: “Let’s go back to the dorm.”
Bei Yuye followed him back, and Yu Nan said, “You should keep being like this in the future.”
Not a word was spoken.
