- Chapter 7 - Wouldn't this be too much for him?
This morning, Yu Nan had an early class at eight. He tried hard to open his tired eyes.
“Senior, are you going to the cafeteria?” Bei Yuye asked.
Yu Nan yawned, “I’m going, I’m going.”
Every time he was tired and about to fall asleep or had just woken up, he had a habit of repeating his words.
He splashed his face with cold water, trying to shake off his sleepiness.
After getting ready quickly, he turned to his junior, “I’m done. How about you?”
Bei Yuye had already finished and was leaning against the doorframe, looking at his phone.
“I’m ready too. Let’s go.” he opened the door.
The last time Yu Nan went to the cafeteria side by side with someone was back in his first year of college. He never thought he’d have the chance to go to the cafeteria for breakfast with his junior.
He woke up early today because his junior got up even earlier.
In the past, even if he managed to get to the cafeteria in the morning, he could only buy something like a bun and soy milk to eat on the way. This time, he had enough time to eat in the cafeteria, and he happily munched on his bun.
He didn’t have much appetite in the morning and didn’t eat much. Just something to fill his stomach was enough—two buns and a cup of soy milk were just right.
Breakfast should be eaten slowly, not in a rush or choking.
He took the initiative to ask, “Where’s your friend? Isn’t he joining you for the early class?”
The junior was eating noodles for breakfast, and with one bite, half of the bowl of noodles disappeared, leaving Yu Nan amazed.
Bei Yuye replied, “We are not in the same major.”
After quickly finishing his noodles, he said, “Senior, which classroom are you in?”
Yu Nan told him, then asked back, “And you?”
Bei Yuye said, “What a coincidence, I’m in the same building, on the third floor.”
He quickly added, “Senior, I’ll go buy another bun.”
By the time he returned, Yu Nan had just finished eating.
“Don’t you avoid certain foods because of your workout?” he had seen videos of people avoiding all sorts of foods for fitness.
Bei Yuye quickly finished the bun, “I was avoiding certain foods all summer. Now that school has started, I plan to indulge for a week and then get back to it.”
Yu Nan thought of Bei Bei. He also avoided certain foods for fitness, so he felt a little sorry for him.
In the classroom, he still chose a seat in the corner and started chatting on his phone.
Yu Nan: Oh no! Whenever I think about the dietary restrictions for fitness, I feel a bit sorry for my online lover.
Yu Nan: He only had abs to start with, and I made all sorts of requests.
Yu Nan: Feeling sorry for his dietary restrictions—isn’t that spoiling him too much?
He switched accounts to message Bei Bei.
Nan Nan: Bei Bei, I love you so much.
Bei Bei: I love you so much too.
He switched back to the group chat.
Yu Nan: But I really like his current physique. I can only say I love him very much.
Dreams are everything: You’re a sane guy. How’s it going with the Affectionate Guy? @Milk Tea.
Doggo: Interesting.
Dreams are everything: You’re the Devoted Doggo.
Doggo: Not interesting.
Rain is quietly falling: Hahaha!
Milk Tea: Report, Affectionate Guy is still deeply in love!
In the quiet classroom, Yu Nan tried hard to stifle his laughter. Every time he saw the chat in the group, he wanted to laugh.
Yu Nan: Please post daily updates on Affectionate Guy’s love-struck moments.
Yu Nan: As a cautionary example for me.
Doggo: Does your friend know you talk about him everywhere? @Milk Tea.
Milk Tea: He knows. He even says you guys are nice for praising him.
Dreams are everything: Wait, what did we praise him for?
Milk Tea: Praising him for being affectionate, for pure love, for being deeply in love.
The group chat went silent for a moment.
Then a bunch of random emojis followed.
Doggo sent a voice message: “I’m impressed by your friend. Amazing!”
Dreams are everything: “Hahaha, Affectionate Guy has figured out love!”
Rain is quietly falling: “Affectionate Guy wins over everyone, I’m telling you!”
Kitty, who rarely spoke up, also sent a voice message: “Milk Tea, let Affectionate Guy love freely!”
Doggo repeated what Kitty said: “Let Affectionate Guy love freely!”
Milk Tea angrily typed: Is he not loving freely enough already? If you knew more details, it would be mindless love!!
Yu Nan was shaking with suppressed laughter. This online romance was more interesting to watch than experiencing it himself.
His relationship with Bei Bei was very normal; neither he nor Bei Bei were love-brained.
Wait, a thought flashed in his mind—was Bei Bei… a bit like that?
But that didn’t count. Bei Bei was just serious about their relationship.
He couldn’t compare him to Affectionate Guy; Affectionate Guy was a bit crazy.
Milk Tea: I’m telling you, when Affectionate Guy sends messages to his partner, his voice is always soft.
Yu Nan: Bold of you to call him Affectionate Guy too?
Dreams are everything: How soft?
Milk Tea: It’s very different from how he normally speaks.
Milk Tea: I guarantee, if they met in real life, his partner wouldn’t recognize his voice after an hour of talking.
Rain is quietly falling: Affectionate Guy just wants to save all his tenderness for his partner.
Rain is quietly falling: Support Affectionate Guy meeting in real life.
Dreams are everything: Support Affectionate Guy meeting in real life.
Yu Nan copied that and lightly supported Affectionate Guy.
He only had one class this morning. After it was over, he went straight back to the dorm to lie down.
A perfect day should be spent lying in bed.
At the end of class, he felt his pockets but found nothing. He quickly checked all his pockets and found only his Bluetooth earphones.
He forgot to bring his key.
Since he left with his junior this morning, he forgot about the key.
He searched his phone and found the dorm group, then @ his junior.
Yu Nan: Junior, did you bring the key?
The junior didn’t reply, but the other two roommates did.
He headed downstairs, knowing the junior’s last class was also in this building, so he should be on his way down. Hopefully, they’d meet at the bottom.
When he got downstairs, he spotted his junior in the crowd.
He had to admit, the junior really stood out like a crane among chickens, looking like he was on a different layer from everyone else.
He jogged to Catch up and asked, “Junior, did you bring the dorm key?”
Bei Yuye pulled the key out of his pocket and handed it to him.
Yu Nan: “I forgot mine. Thanks.”
Before leaving, he added: “I’ll be in the dorm all day. Just knock on the door.”
You could get a key from the dorm supervisor, but you had to leave your phone as collateral, and the key had to be returned immediately. Since they were on the fifth floor, Yu Nan didn’t want to go up and down the stairs.
Bei Yuye looked silently at the chat. Nan Nan said he loved him so much this morning but hadn’t messaged him since.
Reluctantly switching to his secondary account, he saw the message from his senior in the dorm group.
He had two accounts. His main account was for family and friends, while the secondary account was for classmates.
Nan Nan must be on his main account because he was his treasure.
Thinking about this made his ears turn red with shyness.
A notification popped up for a delivery from yesterday’s shopping, making him even more embarrassed. He lowered his head, covering his face.
“What are you looking at that you can’t show anyone?” Pei Yunchuan spotted his friend almost burying his face in his phone and rushed over to see.
Just then, another notifiCation popped up.
Pei Yunchuan read out loud: “Purchased… asphyxiation… collar?”
Bei Yuye immediately pushed him away and covered his phone: “Where did you come from?”
Pei Yunchuan blushed, feeling embarrassed by what Bei Yuye had bought.
Trying to calm himself, he asked, “For him?”
Bei Yuye replied matter-of-factly, “Of course not. It’s for me.”
Pei Yunchuan pointed at him, unable to find the words.
He was very excited when he first learned that Bei Yuye was in a relationship, especially since it was his friend’s first love, even though it was an online relationship.
But as time went on, things started to seem off. He felt Bei Yuye was loving too intensely. They hadn’t even met in person, so how could he be so deeply in love through a screen?
He could only silently accept it. At least his love-brained state was only triggered by a specific person. In everyday matters, he still had his wits.
Bei Yuye only went crazy when it came to NanNan. Outside of that, he was normal.
“I’m going to class,” Pei Yunchuan pointed to himself.
Then he pointed at Bei Yuye: “You, take care of yourself.”
As he turned to head into the teaching building, Bei Yuye asked, “Do you think he’ll like it?”
Pei Yunchuan covered his ears and quickly ran into the building.
Back in the dorm, Yu Nan turned on the air conditioning, climbed into bed, and started drawing again, this time a group photo of sworn brothers.
He began drawing from a screenshot he took yesterday, admiring everyone’s outfits as he worked.
Dreams are everything and rain is quietly falling wore different-colored versions of the same outfit. Doggo and Kitty also had matching outfits, always seeking that couple look.
Watch the sword was in a beggar costume with a rose in his mouth. Milk Tea’s main page was filled with light pollution, always wearing the most expensive clothes.
Yu Nan made various adjustments before finalizing the poses.
Rain is quietly falling and Dreams are everything stood in the middle, arms forming a big heart. Doggo leaned his head on Kitty’s shoulder.
Milk Tea, holding a bunch of money, smiled smugly with sunglasses. Watch the sword raised a rose towards Milk Tea, and Yu Nan stood on the side, smiling and watching.
He posted the sketch in the group chat, asking if anyone wanted changes.
Busy high schooler Watch the sword replied: Please change me to holding a rose in one hand and a bowl in the other. Can’t lose the bowl; it’s for eating.
Everyone else had no objections, telling him to go ahead.
He made Watch the sword’s requested changes and started refining the drawing. After just over an hour, he felt tired again. He realized only coloring pictures really sparked his interest.
He decided to take his time with this drawing, planning to finish it within a month. He never forced himself.
Milk Tea: So, do you guys like wearing collars?
Yu Nan saw the message pop up in the group chat and clicked in.
Doggo: Kitty likes to wear all sorts of cute collars.
Milk Tea: Real Kitty or Kitty herself?
Doggo immediately @ Kitty: Of course, my cute little wildKitty.
Milk Tea: Do you guys play that way too?
Yu Nan pondered: Does this have to do with Affectionate Guy?
Milk Tea: If Doggo and Kitty also play that way, I can relax. It must be a popular niche interest.
Doggo: Play what? I’m talking about regular chokers. Kitty buys them to match outfits.
Doggo: Are you talking about the ones with leashes?
Milk Tea: Yes, yes, yes, those asphyxiation collars.
This comment got Kitty excited, posting a lively emoji.
Kitty: You can just watch Affectionate Guy being happy from afar. Is he wearing it or his partner?
Milk Tea: He said he’s wearing it himself.
Kitty countered @ Doggo: I’ll buy one for you too. Will you wear it?
Doggo: Huh?
Kitty: I think it’ll look cool.
Doggo: Sure!!!
Sitting in class, Pei Yunchuan was puzzled. He felt like there was a generation gap between him and them, even though they were about the same age. He quickly searched for related terms to Catch up on the knowledge.
