I Will Be Unrivaled With The Skill [Sewing]! They Said It Was A Bad Skill, But With Effort, I will Make It A Hit~ - Chapter 100
Episode 100: Disturbance
Seneca had returned to the city of Trias.
While eagerly digging up a ShyRatt burrow, Rentulus had suddenly appeared and declared the cancellation of the exam. Saying that details would come later, Rentulus vanished just as quickly as he arrived. With nothing else to do, Seneca decided to head to the guild.
Upon entering the guild, Seneca immediately sensed that something was off among the adventurers. The atmosphere was tense, with everyone on edge.
As she made her way further inside, she spotted Shimeneme. When Shimeneme noticed Seneca, she motioned for her to come over.
“Oh, young lady. You probably heard from Rentulus, but the exam has been canceled due to an emergency. There’s a meeting coming up, so I need you to attend. We’ll go over the details then. I’ll call you when it’s time, so for now, take a moment to rest.”
With that, she disappeared into the back of the reception counter.
Feeling a little lost, Seneca realized she was indeed exhausted and decided to sit down for a while to recover.
As she sat idly, Rondol entered the guild. The moment he spotted Seneca, he approached her.
“Rentulus-sama suddenly showed up and told us the exam was canceled. Did the same thing happen to you?”
“Yes. I was told to wait for a meeting later, where they’ll explain everything.”
“I see. Rentulus-sama just ordered us to return to the guild and then disappeared, leaving me completely stunned. But I’ve never heard of a promotion exam being canceled before. Something serious must have happened.”
Rondol’s face grew stiff as he spoke.
About an hour after Rondol arrived, Rentulus returned to the guild.
“Seneca, Rondl, we’re holding a meeting now. Head to the large conference room in the back. I’ll go gather the other examinees.”
Following his instructions, Seneca made her way to the conference room. Since she didn’t know where it was, she asked the receptionist, who requested to see her adventurer card.
After verifying her card, she was led through the back and guided to the meeting room.
Inside, she found Shimeneme, several guild staff members, and many adventurers—including Maior, Gaia, and Plautia.
“Maior, Gaia, Plautia!”
Hearing her voice, the three turned to face her. Their expressions were serious, and the air around them was heavy with tension.
“Oh, you’re here. I’m sure you have questions, but wait until everyone arrives.”
Seneca had been about to speak, but since Shimeneme said that, she held back and quietly took a seat. There were no empty seats near Maior and the others, so she sat elsewhere.
As she calmed down and observed the room, she noticed that everyone carried an air of unease. The guild staff, in particular, looked exhausted.
After a short while, the rest of the examinees arrived.
Once everyone was assembled, Shimeneme spoke.
“Let’s begin the meeting.”
The incident began when Maior, Gaia, and Plautia reported an anomaly in the Great Trias Forest to the guild.
Taking their report seriously, the guild decided to gather information from adventurers. However, since the Silver-rank promotion exams were currently underway, most adventurers were not actively operating, and many were avoiding areas related to the exam.
To gather information, the guild reached out to parties assisting the examinees with preliminary investigations. The first to respond was Rondol’s party, who had also noticed strange occurrences in the Great Trias Forest and had come to consult the guild.
Shortly afterward, other parties arrived, all voicing concerns about an increased number of monsters and other abnormalities.
The guild immediately tasked a local party with investigating the state of the Great Trias Forest. Additionally, they requested cooperation from the parties supporting the examinees.
Given the request from the guild, Maior and her group followed the instructions and conducted a full-scale investigation.
The guild acted swiftly and, for the most part, accurately—but there were mistakes. For example, at present, there were only three adventurers in Trias who possessed the skills needed for large-scale exploration. One was the scout of Nubest’s party, another was an adventurer from the Trias branch, and the last was Maior.
The guild was aware that the scout from Nubest’s party was Level 3 and that the local adventurer was Level 2. Maior had reported herself as Level 3, but since she lacked a track record, the guild entrusted the most critical investigation to Nubest’s party. Though an excellent scout, he was unable to detect magical energy, causing the investigation to be delayed.
From the gathered information, the guild detected an increase in the number of monsters and recognized this as an abnormal situation, reporting it to Gold-ranked adventurers Shimeneme and Rentulus.
Shimeneme entrusted the continuation of the exam to Rentulus and ventured deep into the Great Trias Forest. Prioritizing speed, Nubest’s party had not conducted a deeper investigation.
Since she had to return within half a day, Shimeneme was unable to reach the innermost parts of the forest, but what she saw was enough to make a decision.
“Rentulus! The number of monsters is abnormally high. I’ve spotted multiple subspecies. I even found two types of monsters that, to my knowledge, do not inhabit this region. I believe there is a risk of a Stampede occurring. The exam is canceled. I will report to headquarters that there are signs of an impending Stampede.”
Hearing Shimeneme’s report upon his return, Rentulus nodded without hesitation and immediately took action.
“That is the situation so far. I will take questions about anything unclear later, but for now, I need you all to understand that this is an emergency. A more detailed investigation will follow, but the likelihood of a Stampede occurring is extremely high. If it does happen, the earliest it could begin is in three days. Currently, many adventurers are away due to the promotion exams, so until they return, I ask for your cooperation.”
Listening to Shimeneme and the guild staff, Seneca narrowed her eyes. If a Stampede was truly imminent, it made sense for the exam to be canceled.
“As for what happens next, once this meeting ends, we will officially make this information public and request cooperation from all relevant parties. If we don’t start preparing now, it will be too late. The city will likely descend into panic, but there’s no helping it. Reinforcements should arrive from nearby guilds within the day, and before long, aid will come from the royal capital as well. I ask that all of you operate under the assumption that a Stampede will occur.”
The tension in the room grew even heavier. Seneca had many questions, but for now, she focused on understanding the situation.
“To officially confirm the Stampede, specialist adventurers will be dispatched. However, before that, there are things we need to ascertain. For this, I would like to entrust the investigation to ‘Moonlit Vow.'”
A murmur ran through the room at Shimeneme’s words, but she continued unfazed.
“Maior, I already explained the details earlier. Will you be able to do it?”
Maior slowly nodded.
“Seneca, how about you? Will you go?”
“I’ll go!”
Seneca answered without hesitation.
Maior and the others seemed to relax just slightly.
“Understood. Moonlit Vow,’ begin preparations immediately and start the investigation. I’ve already briefed Maior and the others on the details, so Seneca, listen to them.”
With that, the four of them promptly left the conference room.
