I Will Be Unrivaled With The Skill [Sewing]! They Said It Was A Bad Skill, But With Effort, I will Make It A Hit~ - Chapter 111
Episode 111: “Meteor” and “Starsteel”
Seneca watched Attalos and Rentulus battle in the dark.
Attalos had used magic to cast a soft glow around them for visibility.
Rentulus was manipulating four shield spheres—one each positioned near himself, Attalos, the Devil Wolf, and the group with Seneca.
The shield sphere near the Devil Wolf obstructed its movements and served as a decoy. Rentulus’s control over it was so skillful that he alone was managing to toy with the enemy.
Attalos coordinated his attacks using the shield spheres defensively. There were moments when, from Seneca’s perspective, it looked like he was in danger—but each time, a shield sphere would suddenly move into place to block the attack with perfect timing.
“So that’s ‘Meteor’ and ‘Starsteel’…”
“Gaia, you know them?”
“Know them? They’re the two most famous Gold-ranked adventurers in the country.”
Seneca tilted her head in confusion.
“I think Maior mentioned them the other day, but you were a bit too focused on your food at the time.”
“Yeah, Seneca-chan was totally engrossed in her meat at that time.”
“Hey, it’s not like we only mentioned them once, you know?”
Seneca usually paid good attention to people and had a strong memory, but now and then, she spaced out.
“Those two are a well-known pair. During a large-scale Stampede in the past, they were instrumental in quelling the threat.”
“Yeah.”
Seneca had at least heard something like that.
“Even though it was just the two of them, they fought like a full party and took down multiple monsters that were stronger than them.”
“They’re called ‘Meteor’ and ‘Starsteel.’ They didn’t have an official party name, but seeing them now, I think I understand why they never formed a full party.”
They must have still believed in something…
Hearing that, Seneca started to feel restless. Although Attalos and Rentulus were fighting steadily, they lacked a decisive blow.
Even though their team had been instructed to provide support, it was hard to find an opportunity to intervene.
Seneca recalled what Attalos had said earlier.
“We might need Seneca to handle sewing as well.”
A spark shot through Seneca’s mind.
Right. She could sew.
She visualized the movements she had trained for over the years since acquiring the skill and unleashed her 【Mana Needle】 .
The quietly launched 【Mana Needle】 snuck up on the enemy from behind a shield sphere, and in the moment the Devil Wolf hesitated, it stitched its black lips shut with terrifying speed.
“Grrruuuuugh!”
A muffled growl escaped from the Devil Wolf.
Rentulus immediately slammed a shield sphere into the prone Devil Wolf, widening the opening Seneca had created.
Sensing something from Seneca’s side, Attalos had already begun preparing for any development. So when Rentulus moved, he channeled his refined magic into his sword.
“… 【Starborn Blade】 .”
As Attalos murmured, stardust began to spill from his blade.
With flowing motion, he swung the sword toward the Devil Wolf’s neck.
Shing!
A sound like a star twinkling rang out, and the Devil Wolf’s neck was severed.
The stardust from the sword lingered in the air, forming a glittering river of stars.
So that was the signature technique of the adventurer known as “Meteor”—the Starborn Blade, Maior thought.
She’d heard from Seneca that Attalos used it during their battle with the Cyclops in the Baetica Forest, but apparently no stars had appeared back then.
At the time, Maior had known nothing and only began researching Attalos’s achievements after arriving in the royal capital.
His desperate campaign with Rentulus to suppress the Stampede, the recognition that led to his promotion to Gold-ranked adventurer… And even after that, he continued to be called upon to defend the country whenever serious crises occurred.
Still, Maior couldn’t quite shake the overly familiar and brash first impression Attalos had left. But when she heard about him from Pulcher and Stolo, he seemed like a completely different person.
If it had been back when she knew nothing, she might’ve held a grudge.
Why hadn’t the supervising Gold-ranked adventurer been able to prevent the encounter with the Cyclops?
Why had Maior and Seneca’s lives been put in danger?
She hadn’t disliked Attalos, but that didn’t mean she felt nothing about it either.
But now, she understood.
Even for someone like Attalos, that incident had been outside the scope of expectation.
Above all, Maior had simply lacked experience.
Even adventurers hailed as geniuses usually gained strength through a steady accumulation of experience.
Both Pulcher, Stolo, and Nina, who had become special scholarship students, grew at an extraordinary pace—but even so, it seemed they gained strength step by step.
But Maior had gained power all of a sudden.
She had been nothing more than a lowly Iron-ranked adventurer. But through her encounter with Seneca, Maior had suddenly obtained power that far exceeded what she deserved.
Maior had once heard stories from her father about people who came into large sums of money they hadn’t earned.
Compared to those who gained wealth through effort, those who received unearned riches often ruined themselves.
They lacked the sense of having earned it, and had no ability to manage it.
It was only natural that things wouldn’t go well for such people.
Maior had been in exactly that kind of state when she met Attalos.
It wasn’t as if she had just sat back and been given power. She had put in effort and struggled forward. But even so, it remained true that the power she gained was disproportionate.
She didn’t know nearly enough of what she should have known.
And on top of that, she was thrilled at the thought of being Level 2 and qualifying for Bronze-ranked adventurer status.
Seneca was a different type than Maior, but she too had her quirks.
Thinking back now, it was clear—even for someone like Attalos, it must have been difficult to understand and care for two people like them.
Still, Maior was grateful that it had been during Attalos’s watch that the incident occurred back then.
Both she and Seneca had become much more cautious after that painful experience.
If they hadn’t met Attalos, perhaps the two of them would have lost their lives somewhere along the way.
Maior looked at Attalos again.
If he was around the same age as Seneca’s parents, he was probably a little younger than her own father.
And yet, that man wielded his sword with brilliant form, fighting like a comet streaking across the sky.
It was a bit irritating, but… Maior had to admit—just a little—he looked cool.
Still, those feelings held no hint of romantic affection.
What she felt was a deep admiration for a high-ranking adventurer, one worthy of being called a “hero.”
After that, the rest of the night passed without incident. The group took turns keeping watch and spent the night in relative peace.
But as they began their activities on the second day, a strange, unsettling presence spread through the forest like a ripple.
Maior immediately used 【Detection】 to assess the situation—and as she did, Attalos spoke.
“Pheripatos-sama is about to settle things.”
In her field of vision, she saw Pheripatos preparing to unleash a technique with a transcendent aura.
Maior activated 【Shared Vision】 for the entire party.
