I Will Be Unrivaled With The Skill [Sewing]! They Said It Was A Bad Skill, But With Effort, I will Make It A Hit~ - Chapter 113
Episode 113: Supreme
Fabius was keeping watch from the top of the tower.
The battle was still on its first day, and dawn was just about to break.
Monsters were coming relentlessly, but thanks to the adventurers’ efforts and Xenon’s superhuman magic, the city remained unscathed.
Reinforcements were steadily gathering in the city. With this, Xenon should be able to maintain the balance and continue fighting—so Fabius thought.
Standing next to Fabius was Xenon, who spoke with him about various matters concerning the city’s defense.
He talked about how logistics were crucial, and how in emergencies, it was essential to have prearranged coordination to allow things to proceed under control.
Xenon, no matter how you looked at him, seemed like a teacher guiding his students. But apparently, he himself didn’t see it as “teaching.”
Then, Xenon spoke up.
“Fabius, look over there.”
Following the direction Xenon pointed, Fabius turned to look toward the Great Forest. There, something shining had appeared on the horizon.
“Dawn?” Fabius wondered, but that wasn’t the direction the sun rose from.
Looking more closely, the light formed a glowing cross, and it seemed to possess extraordinary power.
“It’s Pheripatos.”
“Huh?”
Even as he stood bewildered, Fabius kept observing. The glowing cross dropped down, followed by a distinct and powerful sound echoing through the air.
“Fabius, call for Shimeneme immediately. I must head there as well.”
Fabius quickly descended the tower and went to find Shimeneme, who was overseeing the defense forces on the ground.
“Shimeneme, it seems Pheripatos has defeated the guardian. He’ll need some time to rest, so I’ll head out shortly afterward.”
“Understood. I’ll begin preparations immediately.”
“Before noon, the spell will activate, but after that, I’ll dispel the magical barrier. The ‘Great Farmers’ have assembled, yes?”
“Yes. Everyone is present.”
The “Great Farmers” was a party led by Shimeneme. Though they were all from farming backgrounds, Shimeneme was the only one whose skills reflected that origin.
“Very well. Then I’ll leave overall command to you while I’m away. Even if another Platinum-ranked adventurer shows up, you’re the best choice to lead the adventurers.”
“Understood. If anyone’s likely to come in this situation, it’s Pyron, right?”
“As far as I know, Pyron might indeed show up. If he does, best to let him do as he pleases.”
“I can’t control him anyway. But if he comes, that’d be reassuring.”
“Don’t count on reinforcements stronger than Pyron. I plan to return as soon as possible, but anything could happen. I’m counting on you, Shimeneme.”
Acknowledging Xenon’s words, Shimeneme nodded solemnly.
Not long after they finished speaking, a blue smoke signal rose from the area where the “Gate” was located. According to Xenon, that was the sign that the guardian had been defeated.
“Fabius, it seems Pheripatos is ready. We’ll now go to close the ‘Gate.’ Come with me.”
Fabius had prepared himself for battle, but he hadn’t yet been told what exactly they would be doing.
He nodded in response to the unwavering gaze in Xenon’s eyes and braced himself for high-speed movement.
Fwhooom. Xenon’s magic activated once again, and the two of them were instantly transported to the Great Forest.
Looking around, Fabius spotted Pheripatos and Nina.
“You came, Xenon.”
“Yes. I’m grateful for the swift takedown, Pheripatos. But that guardian was strong enough that it couldn’t be taken down without a 【Circular Cross】 of that magnitude?”
“Exactly. It didn’t have any healing abilities, but out of all the guardians I’ve fought solo, it was probably the strongest.”
“⋯⋯It seems this time won’t be simple either.”
“Indeed. But all we can do is carry out our duties.”
As Pheripatos and Xenon exchanged words, Fabius found his eyes drawn to the “Gate” floating before them.
It was a red-and-black rift, many times larger than his own height, gaping open. His reaction was only natural.
Nina walked up to the awestruck Fabius.
“Fabi-kun⋯⋯”
“Nina, you’re safe?”
“Yeah. It was an incredible battle.”
“Xenon-sama’s performance on our end was incredible too.”
“Is Trias okay?”
“Not a scratch on them, for now.”
The two exchanged information while staring at the ominous subspace before them.
“Well then, shall we begin?”
Pheripatos said, with a spirited tone.
“Nina, Fabius, from here on, Xenon and I will seal that hole. We’ll exhaust our power, so I’m counting on you two to provide protection and keep watch.”
“I doubt any monsters will come, but we never know what might happen.”
“We’re going all out, so stay back a bit.”
Hearing this, Fabius and Nina both nodded repeatedly and stepped far back from the two.
There are two steps required to close the “Gate.”
First, a full-power attack must be unleashed into the “Gate.”
Then, someone with spatial abilities must seal the “Gate.”
Both steps require an enormous amount of magical energy, so Pheripatos and Xenon would likely expend all their strength.
The all-out attack is meant to annihilate any monsters lurking beyond the Gate.
Even if the Gate were to reopen, they must strike into the subspace to ensure nothing dangerous remains.
Pheripatos summoned all the fighting spirit and magical power in his body. Thanks to the short rest, he had recovered somewhat. He was fired up to take his time and unleash his best technique.
Pheripatos hoisted his massive cross-shaped sword onto his shoulder and closed his eyes.
He visualized the Circular Cross in his mind again, pouring all the magical power and fighting spirit he currently possessed into it.
Then, before Pheripatos, a Circular Cross as tall as he was manifested and began spinning at high speed.
As he focused on the image of infinite rotation and conveyed that intent to his skill, the Circular Cross began to shine brilliantly, intensifying its spin with a sharp, piercing sound.
Beside Pheripatos stood Xenon.
In contrast to the flashy display by Pheripatos, Xenon’s movements were nearly invisible.
Up to this point, the person Fabius had met with the greatest magical reserves was Seneca—but Xenon’s magic far exceeded even hers.
Seneca’s magic overflowed with vitality and gave a lively impression, while Xenon’s magic was quiet and still, like air itself.
And yet, now Xenon’s magical presence seemed to grow stronger.
Focusing his eyes, Fabius could see the space around Xenon subtly warping.
It was like looking through water, though the distortion was faint.
“I’ll go first!”
Pheripatos shouted.
Before him, the glowing Circular Cross was spinning at a speed that defied common sense.
Gripping the sword that had been resting on his shoulder with both hands, Pheripatos poured all his strength into a strike.
“Take this!! 【Wheel Cross Blade】 !!!”
The shining wheel shot forward at a speed too fast for the eye to follow and was sucked straight into the subspace.
Just after Pheripatos’s attack ended, Xenon extended his right hand forward and murmured:
“ 【Spacetime Bubble】 ”
If one looked closely, a distortion began to form in the space just in front of his hand.
That distortion slowly moved toward the “Gate.”
As it entered the subspace, it emitted light popping sounds—pop, pop—and then vanished deep within, leaving nothing visible behind.
