I Will Be Unrivaled With The Skill [Sewing]! They Said It Was A Bad Skill, But With Effort, I will Make It A Hit~ - Chapter 12
Episode 12: We’re Definitely Going to Be Amazing
Since that day, Seneca and Maior had been regularly venturing into the Baet Forest together.
Maior’s 【Detection】 skill was powerful, allowing them to hunt with remarkable efficiency. However, Seneca, fearing her own detection abilities might grow rusty, requested that Maior guide her without revealing explicit details during calmer times.
Hearing this, Maior agreed and replied.
“I’ve been over-relying on my skill to the point where I can’t track without it anymore. I’ll confirm there’s no significant threat when we enter the forest, but after that, can I try not using it as much as possible? There are skilled adventurers who can track monsters even outside the range of my skill.”
Seneca nodded in agreement.
After learning how Seneca had leveled up, Maior decided to change her approach to gaining experience. She had thought frequent usage was the key, but now she knew that gaining exceptionally high-quality experience could lead to a quick level-up.
Though Maior didn’t possess as much vast magical power as Seneca, she had some to work with. She began pondering how to use it for more efficient, high-quality training. If she leveled up and passed the trial, she’d finally achieve her long-desired Copper rank. Maior was grateful for her meeting with Seneca.
Since partnering with Maior, Seneca’s efficiency at work had also improved.
Defeating enemies, gathering medicinal herbs, and returning home to embroider—despite being an adventurer with an unstable job, Seneca’s life had become oddly stable.
The Baet Forest was a place considered safe as long as a group of Copper-rank adventurers worked together. Thus, Seneca and Maior couldn’t yet fully explore its depths alone.
Seneca began utilizing her tracking skills to engage stronger enemies. While she had been working alone until now, having Maior by her side brought her peace of mind.
That day, they spotted signs of a Unicorn Rabbit. Though its attack power was high, Seneca’s agility made it easy for her to dodge.
Recently, Maior had started studying scouting techniques and led the way to find the Unicorn Rabbit.
Buzzz.
A nasty sound echoed. During emergencies, Maior never hesitated to use 【Detection】.
“Five Scorpion Bees are heading this way,” she announced.
Scorpion Bees were monsters with venomous stingers. A short while ago, both Seneca and Maior would’ve run away from them. But now, as if by unspoken agreement, they decided to fight.
They also had a powerful antidote, courtesy of Kito’s craftsmanship.
Neither Seneca nor Maior had abilities suited for group combat. They needed to communicate diligently and take down the enemies one by one.
As they prepared to face the Scorpion Bees, the Unicorn Rabbit ran toward them, likely disturbed by the commotion. Scorpion Bees often harassed Unicorn Rabbits.
Now they had to deal with six monsters in total. The unpredictable nature of living creatures led to such situations in no time. However, Seneca remained calm.
Pop, pop, pop.
Three bursts in quick succession. Seneca had shot three needles at the Unicorn Rabbit.
At first, Maior panicked but then thought, “Seneca’s up to something strange again,” which oddly calmed her.
The needles were launched at a slow speed, so the Unicorn Rabbit naturally tried to dodge.
“Take this!” Seneca focused all her magical power into one needle. The needle slightly altered its trajectory and struck the Unicorn Rabbit’s leg. Once it landed, Seneca manipulated the magical thread attached to the needle, restricting the rabbit’s movement.
Watching this, Maior felt inspired and decided to try something new herself. Witnessing Seneca’s enthusiasm for mastering skill stirred a similar desire in her.
Maior’s 【Detection】 skill could cover an area as large as a settlement, and with extra magical power, it could extend even further. But this time, she tried a different approach—concentrating on detecting details only within her visible range.
The effort consumed a significant amount of magic, but it allowed her to perceive the enemy’s movements with incredible precision.
Seneca charged at the leading Scorpion Bee, aiming to slice through it. Meanwhile, Maior used her spring-like agility to leap toward the swarm.
Though Seneca blocked Maior’s view, her skill allowed her to keep track of the bees’ movements behind her. The sheer amount of information nearly overwhelmed Maior, but she managed to process it.
Noticing suspicious movements from one of the Scorpion Bees, Maior guessed it was preparing to release venom at Seneca. She threw her broadsword at it without hesitation.
Thunk.
The sword pierced the Scorpion Bee at the back, bringing it down. Seneca steadied herself and moved to stand beside Maior.
“That might’ve been risky,” Seneca remarked.
“Did you see it?”
“No, just had a feeling. Was it about to release venom?”
“Exactly.”
Maior marveled once again at Seneca’s mysterious abilities.
Three Scorpion Bees and one Unicorn Rabbit remained. Seneca went on the offensive.
Maior continued to activate her skill.
She assessed the situation from a bird’s-eye view, supporting Seneca’s movements.
Maior decided to focus on predicting the movements of Seneca and the monsters, eliminating threats in advance.
She suppressed a scorpion bee showing suspicious behavior and struck it down when it let its guard down.
When a unicorn rabbit started hopping around, she slit its throat before it could escape.
Thanks to Maior’s efforts, the battle situation became more manageable.
Seneca felt that fighting had become noticeably easier.
When the situation is simple, the one with greater skill wins.
Seneca concentrated on her own battle and swiftly dispatched the remaining two scorpion bees.
◆
Maior, while harvesting materials from the scorpion bees, reflected on the battle just now.
By innovating the way she used the skill 【Detection】, she felt she had found a new way to fight.
She understood she was still inexperienced, but she felt a definite sense of progress.
She began to think that 【Detection】 might not just be for scouting but could also directly aid in battle.
【Detection】 is a rare skill, but upper-tier parties often have someone who possesses it. Most of them are scouts.
There are many skills suited for scouts, but 【Detection】, with its exceptional danger-sensing ability, is highly valued.
Maior had started studying to become a scout without much thought.
However, Maior began to question if such a simplistic idea was really good enough.
It was because Seneca was beside her.
Seneca was always devising new ways to fight.
She often failed too, but every failure was a genuine one.
She would naturally try something, fail, learn from it, and continue advancing rapidly.
Even a seemingly domestic skill like [Sewing] found its place in battle. It was only natural that Maior began to consider other ways to use 【Detection】.
Maior pondered her own potential.
For the time being, she decided to continue supporting Seneca.
Fighting on the frontlines while covering other frontline fighters might be a good fit.
Acting as a midline or rear-line commander could also work.
Or she could focus on eliminating threats from the rear with a bow.
Maior didn’t yet know what suited her best.
That’s why she had no choice but to try.
Although she didn’t know what the future held, she realized she was excited by the uncertainty, which made her very happy.
It was all because she had become roommates with Seneca in the dormitory.
Watching Seneca made her feel hopeful for the future.
Maior climbed another step on the staircase toward a bright future.
◆
Seneca, meanwhile, was lost in thought.
Skinning the unicorn rabbit had become such a routine task that she could do it without using her brain, allowing her to focus on her thoughts.
Firing 【Magic Needles】 was extremely effective.
She was genuinely glad to have discovered a way to use 【Sewing】 for attacks.
But was this enough?
Seneca didn’t want to become a sniper. Her ranged attacks were only meant as a supplement; compared to professionals in archery, throwing weapons, or magic, her attacks paled in comparison.
Her strength lay in being a swordswoman.
That’s why, while continuing to hone her needle-firing skills, she needed to search for her next path.
This felt like a monumental task.
Since gaining her skill, she had struggled to become an adventurer, finally finding a way to utilize her skill.
But she felt this path wasn’t quite right for her.
There was no easy road laid out before Seneca.
Unlike 【Swordsmanship】 or 【Fire Magic】 , she always had to forge her own path.
She had to keep her eyes wide open and carve out her own trail through the wilderness.
While digging a hole to bury the unicorn rabbit’s innards, Seneca began to feel disheartened.
How many more times would she have to overcome these feelings to surpass her parents as an adventurer?
“Lucius, I wonder if I can do it?”
The mountain forest air was so clear that her murmured words seemed as though they might reach Lucius on the wind.
“Lucius and Kito must be doing their best too. I can’t let my complaints reach them.”
With that, Seneca resumed her work.
She thought Maior’s movements earlier were remarkably sharp.
After the battle, Maior’s face had a determined look, her eyes seeming to burn with a newfound resolve.
She must have gained something from the experience.
Seneca had seen that look before.
Lucius, when he resolved to surpass their parents as an adventurer, and Kito, when she decided to learn earnestly under Yulia, both had eyes carrying that same light.
Maior would become stronger.
Seneca was sure of it.
If things stayed as they were, Maior would soon become someone out of reach. Lucius and Kito would move ahead too.
Believing she would one day emerge as well, Seneca resolved to keep moving forward.
Her eyes shone brighter than anyone else’s.
◆
Back at the dormitory, they ate a meal prepared as always by Mint, the dorm mother. Mint had the skill 【Household Management】 , which she used to great effect.
The guild-funded dormitory maintained high standards, and Mint was undoubtedly the best of the dorm mothers in Baetica’s children’s dorms.
Afterward, the two went to the nearby communal bath, warmed themselves thoroughly, and spent the rest of the evening doing as they pleased.
Maior practiced 【Detection】.
Previously, she had focused on instantly detecting a wide area with precision, but now she was training to use the skill continuously over a smaller area.
The training quickly drained her magic power, so she needed to find a solution for that and improve her unstable magic control.
Seneca hugged a plush toy that looked like a blank-faced coyote as she worked on her sewing.
More specifically, she was trying to sew without using her hands, manipulating a magic needle with her energy.
During the day’s battle, she had discovered that she could move a needle remotely by imbuing it with magic. She thought that if she could refine this, it might become useful somehow.
However, unlike in combat, the needle barely moved.
Seneca intently sent “nu-nu-nu-nu” thoughts to her magic needle, creating a somewhat eerie appearance.
When Seneca glanced at Maior, she saw her with her eyes closed, deeply immersed in skill training.
Seneca whispered to herself, “I’m sure it’ll work out.”
◆
It was time for bed.
Both were early sleepers, so they often went to bed at the same time.
When Maior got into bed and turned off the lights, Seneca, already lying down, spoke up.
“Hey, Maior. We’re just getting started. I know we’re going to be amazing. I just know everything’s going to go well.”
Maior listened closely but couldn’t immediately respond because the sudden statement caught her off guard.
Although she didn’t fully understand, the words didn’t feel unpleasant.
“You see, Seneca…”
Maior tried to continue the conversation, but as she listened, she realized Seneca’s soft breaths filled the dark room.
Seneca had fallen asleep after saying something so profound.
“Be amazing, huh… I wonder if I can really be.”
Maior’s gentle voice echoed softly in the darkened room.
