I Will Be Unrivaled With The Skill [Sewing]! They Said It Was A Bad Skill, But With Effort, I will Make It A Hit~ - Chapter 121
Episode 121: Skill【Sewing】
Up ahead, Attalos and Rentulus were fighting the gargoyle.
Thanks to Mof handling the defense of the rear guard, Rentulus was able to focus entirely on the front line. Because of that, even in this grueling battle, a faint glimmer of hope had begun to appear.
The fact that Lucius could use healing magic was also a big advantage. In order to deal damage to the gargoyle, which had entered its guardian form, they had to go all-in on offense. Without healing, they would have had to stick to a more conservative strategy.
Lucius occasionally unleashed attacks using【Holy Magic】. Since the monsters emerging from the “Door” were weak to holy attributes, Lucius’s attacks were proving effective.
However, the gargoyle was gradually increasing the amount of magical power it was drawing from the “Door,” and each of its strikes was becoming more powerful. It had also begun generating more subspaces, and the team was slowly being overwhelmed.
Attalos was forming strategies based on the information Seneca had brought back from the rear. Some time had passed since they’d sent up the emergency signal flare, but aside from the two of them, no reinforcements had appeared.
Apparently, that was because nearly all available forces were tied up dealing with another powerful monster. A massive beast had appeared on the city side, making it impossible for the others to break away.
They were hoping that either Xenon or Pheripatos had seen the flare and would come, but given that they hadn’t shown up yet, there had to be a reason.
So long as there was no information indicating that the enemy had opened another “Door,” it made sense to prioritize the more powerful threat. Perhaps Peripatos was heading for the massive monster instead.
Attalos and the others were driving their exhausted bodies to the limit to hold the line. It was clear that Lucius held the key to the battle, but they couldn’t think of a good way to make full use of him.
If only they could find a way to change the situation where the subspaces were draining their stamina—Attalos thought—but no breakthrough came to mind.
Seneca, with a clear head for the first time in a long while, was watching Lucius.
Her once-muddled thoughts were now razor-sharp.
Lucius was swinging a jade-colored odachi(let’s just say heavier katana), casting spells, and healing as needed. His movements were crisp, effortlessly fulfilling multiple roles.
What stood out most was his swordsmanship. Compared to before, his movements were sharper—so fast they seemed blinding, yet at times so fluid they appeared almost slow.
His reaction speed was exceptional. Seneca had always been confident in her own reflexes, but next to Lucius, she wouldn’t stand a chance.
Thanks to his fast reflexes, his actions were always half a step ahead, allowing him to continuously avoid dangerous situations. That created a positive cycle that minimized exhaustion—Seneca understood that clearly.
That fluid motion was exactly like Lucius’s father, Junius, as she remembered him.
Lucius was still a swordsman.
From that day, when he’d been practicing sword swings in the forest, he’d been polishing his skills this whole time.
Seneca could see that clearly now.
Then—what about herself?
Seneca asked herself the question.
She too had continued to sharpen her swordmanship.
She may have strayed from the righteous path, but she still carried the heart of a swordsman.
That’s why she wanted Lucius to see her sword.
She had that feeling.
But even more than that, Seneca realized there was something else she wanted Lucius to see.
For these past four years, there had been something she’d faced constantly.
At first, it had brought her disappointment—but now, she could genuinely take pride in it as part of herself.
She wanted Lucius to see this new side of her.
Seneca’s chest was full of that feeling.
“My skill is【Sewing】.
They said it was bad—but I turned it into a winning skill through hard work.
Hey, Lucius, watch me…”
Seneca sheathed her sword and focused her heart on her skill.
She had always been saved by her skill.
Even when she was about to die, even when she was on the verge of losing comrades—again and again, her skill had helped her overcome adversity.
Whenever she found herself cornered, if she could use the【Sewing】skill well, she could surely pull through. She remembered that unwavering belief.
And now, she has grown into someone worthy of such an incredible skill.
That pride was beginning to take root.
Today, once again, Seneca entrusted her wishes to her skill.
The answer was always simple.
Just find something—and sew it together.
That was all there was to it.
So then—
Lucius was in deep concentration.
Trusting his senses, he used【Holy Magic】to its fullest, doing everything he could.
The tide of battle was not in their favor.
If things continued like this, their strength would be worn down, and eventually they would lose.
Even so, Lucius felt a genuine sense of excitement deep in his heart. He was forcing himself not to smile.
As he moved, launching attacks against the enemy, the corner of his vision caught a glimpse of Seneca’s face.
Seneca had her eyebrows slightly raised, wearing a calm expression. Her eyes were gazing just slightly upward.
Seneca had grown up to be more mature than Lucius had imagined, and though he was inwardly flustered by it, her face now was just the same as it had been back then.
“Something’s going to burst out…”
Lucius felt certain of that, and he began acting to reorganize the battlefield so they would be ready for whatever came. Then, as if they had all agreed beforehand, both the front and rear guards started moving in ways that made the situation easier to understand.
“So everyone’s feeling the same way.”
Lucius felt a sense of joy.
Attalos and Rentulus, fighting at the front with him, seemed to have wry smiles on their faces.
“Come on, show me.
Seneca’s skill【Sewing】.
I’ve been looking forward to this all along.”
The moment Lucius murmured those words, Seneca began channeling an immense amount of magical power, emitting a soft glow.
Attalos and the others were keeping their distance as they fought. They wanted to observe Seneca’s movements and adjust their offensive strategy accordingly.
The gargoyle, noticing that their attacks had lessened in intensity, began to gather power. It harbored deep hatred for Lucius, who was displaying overwhelming holy power, and seemed to be watching for a chance to take him down.
The gargoyle had realized that Seneca was trying to do something using her magical power, but it’s hatred for Lucius was so strong that it didn’t devote much attention to her.
Because of that, it failed to stop Seneca’s technique and ended up bewildered.
Just as the gargoyle attempted to generate a subspace, a shuru-shuru sound was heard. Yet, the mouth of the space didn’t open, and there was no movement.
Puzzled, the gargoyle tried to create multiple subspaces at once—but again, all that happened was the shuru-shuru sound, and the magic dispersed without activating.
The gargoyle realized that someone was interfering with its ability to attack. So, it targeted the one it considered the biggest threat—the holy boy—but sensed no strange magical activity from him.
When it recognized that someone else was responsible, it scanned the surroundings and spotted someone clearly behaving abnormally.
It saw the girl unleashing massive magical power, apparently preventing the subspaces from forming.
At that moment, the gargoyle shifted its target from Lucius to Seneca.
Seneca was calmly using her skill.
With Maior’s【Detection】, she could perceive both magical power and subspaces. By watching the shared field of vision closely, she noticed that right before a subspace formed, a sudden surge of magical energy would appear and swirl violently in chaotic rotation.
So, when she spotted such a place, she would immediately fire a 【Magic Needle】 and remotely control it to【Sewing】the space closed. Once she realized this, the process became easy.
Back when she fought Maior under the moonlight, Seneca had sewn together the space between herself and a distant location to achieve teleportation.
The idea of【sewing】space had existed since then, but the problem was that it consumed a large amount of magical energy, so she couldn’t use it frequently.
In this case, however, the enemy’s subspaces were incredibly unstable—the portals only opened for a brief moment. Perhaps because of that, she could block their formation without using much magic.
Though she didn’t fully understand the detailed mechanics, for Seneca, preventing the gargoyle’s subspaces felt as easy as sewing up a wound.
