I Will Be Unrivaled With The Skill [Sewing]! They Said It Was A Bad Skill, But With Effort, I will Make It A Hit~ - Chapter 63
Volume 7: Warrior’s Pilgrimage Arc
Episode 63: “Meke-Meke—”
The story rewinds to Seneca’s long-term vacation during her first year.
Seneca and her party had ventured into the Nishiro Jungle.
“Leave this to me!”
Seneca’s loud voice echoed through the dense jungle.
As a swarm of Crab Bugs surged in from the left, Seneca unleashed ten Needles.
The needles pierced the heads of the ten lead insects and froze midair, suspending them in place.
With the front line abruptly halted, the Crab Bugs behind them tripped over their fallen comrades.
Seizing the moment, Seneca dashed forward, swiftly beheading the disoriented creatures one by one.
She had already dealt with the ones closest to her, but the horde continued to pour in from behind. Her hands would remain busy for a while yet.
Seeing Seneca engaged, Maior, who had her Detection ability fully active, called out loudly.
“Plautia! Six Radish Onions are approaching from the rear! Handle them! Gaia, activate the trap on the right against the Dark Slime Molds!”
Maior’s voice carried well—perfect for giving commands. Upon hearing her orders, the two immediately sprang into action.
Plautia rushed forward, bringing the Radish Onions into view.
These plant-type monsters were highly nutritious and delicious. They would make for an excellent dinner tonight.
For some time now, Maior had been deliberately assigning Plautia to deal with plant-based monsters.
There was a reason for this.
Plautia gripped her daggers and activated her skill.
Slazh!
With a sharp sound, three Radish Onions had their stems severed, leaving behind only their plump, round bodies.
By utilizing her Plant Gathering skill, Plautia had become exceptionally effective against plant-type monsters. Some even yielded materials upon defeat, making it a two-for-one advantage.
“Plautia, four more Radish Onions incoming!”
“Got it~!”
Gaia watched as the Dark Slime Molds slithered toward her. Though not particularly strong, their body fluids had corrosive properties, making them dangerous if left unchecked. Worse still, they were attacking in a massive swarm.
Gaia activated a trap she had set using the jungle’s trees.
A heavy log and boulders came crashing down with a slam, crushing the Dark Slime Molds.
Most were rendered combat-incapable, and the few survivors were too damaged to move immediately.
Having spent a lot of time adventuring alone, Gaia had developed impressive trap-setting skills.
Recognizing this, Maior had started assigning Gaia the role of trap master, preparing kill zones to deploy when the party was overwhelmed.
After days of refining her craft, Gaia was beginning to awaken her talent as a true trap specialist.
Maior, still using Detection, spotted more incoming monsters. These ones would be troublesome.
“Nina! A large group of Sting Tortoises is coming from beyond the Radish Onions! Take care of them! Fabius-kun! Devil Mosquitoes are swarming in from the left—handle them!”
As she spoke, Maior loosed an arrow at the approaching Scarlet Caterpillars from the right.
“Meke-Meke—”
“Understood!”
Nina responded with her usual nonsensical phrase, while Fabius acknowledged the order cheerfully. Everyone had grown used to Nina’s quirks by now.
” 【Impact 】! “
Nina activated a sub-skill of Hammer Arts.
She slammed her massive metal hammer into the ground, sending out a shockwave.
Cracks spread across the Sting Tortoises’ shells.
Wasting no time, Nina followed up with another crushing blow, shattering their defenses and felling ten of them in moments.
Meanwhile, Fabius wielded his sword with precision, cutting down the Devil Mosquitoes as they surrounded him.
Though the swarm attempted to overwhelm him, he skillfully used his shield to fend them off, eliminating the threat without much trouble.
Maior, watching the now battle-worn Nina and Fabius, muttered under her breath.
“How did it come to this…?”
After their long-term vacation began, Seneca and her party traveled south for a week, leaving the royal capital behind.
Their destination was the tropical rainforest known as the Nishiro Jungle.
After a discussion, the four had agreed it was the perfect training ground.
The monsters in Nishiro Jungle weren’t particularly strong, but they were known for their overwhelming numbers.
By using a weak monster attractant, adventurers could find themselves relentlessly swarmed, as the jungle’s creatures attempted to drown them in sheer volume.
Seneca and her team believed that training to enhance their endurance and coordination through continuous combat in the Nishiro Jungle was essential for their growth.
Since Seneca couldn’t fight at full power for an entire day, there would inevitably be times when the others had to hold the line. This would not only improve their individual strength but also reinforce their power as a party.
Additionally, the request to cull monsters in the Nishiro Jungle offered good compensation, and the materials fetched a high price. If they could train and make money at the same time, there was no reason to turn it down.
Thus, the four of them set out for the Nishiro Jungle.
Near the jungle was a large-scale campsite where they planned to stay while continuing their hunts.
On the first day, the four of them decided to enter the jungle and fight without using any monster-attracting tools, intending to familiarize themselves with the area.
Upon entering enemy territory, the first step was to use 【Detection】.
Since it was their first time, Maior expanded her 【Detection】 range significantly.
An overwhelming number of monsters inhabited the area.
Beasts and plants were also abundant.
Among them, two people were running at high speed while being chased by monsters.
“Huh? What are they doing?”
Maior recognized those two very well.
“Everyone, get ready for battle. Nina and Fabius-kun are heading our way for some reason.”
“Nina, as in the hammer-wielding Nina?”
“Yes, the S-Class Nina and Fabius-kun. We can get the details later. They’ll be here soon.”
“Understood.”
Plautia and Gaia also readied themselves for combat.
“Run for it!”
Nina’s voice, sounding strangely carefree, rang from a distance.
Maior waited until they were close enough before shouting.
“We’ll back you up!”
“Much appreciated!”
The one who answered was Fabius. He hadn’t realized the voice belonged to Maior.
“Seneca, Plautia!”
Hearing Maior’s signal, Seneca and Plautia sprang into action with nimble movements.
Looking ahead, Nina and Fabius were running side by side, with a small gap between them.
Seneca swiftly weaved through that gap at high speed, slashing at the enemies as she passed.
“Huh? Seneca?”
Nina recognized the swordswoman who had just sped past her like a gale.
Plautia followed close behind Seneca.
There were various types of enemies.
While keeping the front-line foes in check, Plautia focused on obliterating plant-based monsters with her overwhelming attack power.
“Nina! We’ll talk later—let’s focus on fighting!”
Maior called out to Nina, who was still looking stunned.
Upon closer inspection, their leather armor was tattered, and their faces were smudged with soot.
Nina gave a broad grin, downed a potion in one gulp, then spun around to rejoin the front line.
“We can catch up after this!”
Fabius’s beautiful face was also smeared with dirt, but his expression remained as fresh as ever as he charged into the enemy ranks.
“Alright, let’s do this!”
Maior shouted to pump herself up. Behind her, Gaia stood silently, wearing a fearless grin.
After defeating the enemies and returning to camp, Maior listened to Fabius’s explanation.
“Our party is divided into vanguard and rearguard, and our main focus is on improving individual strength.”
“Nina was dead set on rampaging in the Nishiro Jungle, so we came here.”
“Everything was fine until yesterday, but today, Nina used too many monster-attracting tools. The monsters swarmed us.”
“We managed to hold out somehow, but we hit our limit. So, we used our skills at max output to escape—and then we ran into you guys.”
Summed up, that was the situation.
While Maior and Fabius discussed seriously, Nina and Seneca were rekindling their old friendship.
“Seneca! Have you been well?”
“Yep! Super well! You had a rough time, huh, Nina?”
“Yeah. But it was great training.”
“Did you get stronger?”
“Meke-meke!”
“Meke-meke!”
They seemed to have bonded.
“I’m sorry to impose when you’re already in a party, but if you’re willing, would you join us in exploring the Nishiro Jungle? Nina would agree, too.”
Fabius proposed the idea.
Maior didn’t think it was a bad idea, but she couldn’t decide on her own, so she looked at Plautia and Gaia.
“Whether it’s four or six, we’ll end up shorthanded anyway, so I don’t mind either way. If anything, the burden will be on you, Maior, since you’ll be the one leading.”
“I don’t mind either way. But with six people, we might be able to go deeper than planned and gather higher-value materials.”
After hearing their opinions, Maior thought it over.
It was true that commanding would be a heavy burden on her.
However, she realized this was the kind of training she had been seeking and decided to accept.
“Alright. Let’s do it. But we still want to train as a party, so let’s separate for a few days now and then. Fighting hordes of monsters every single day would wear us out.”
“That makes sense. Nina and I also want to refine our two-person combat style, so let’s go with that. I feel so much more reassured with all of you around.”
Fabius, ever composed, responded with a refreshing smile.
After they had settled the matter, they glanced to the side.
There, Nina and Seneca, hands clasped, were spinning around in circles, performing what looked like some kind of ritual.
The four of them ended up watching in silence.
