I Will Be Unrivaled With The Skill [Sewing]! They Said It Was A Bad Skill, But With Effort, I will Make It A Hit~ - Chapter 75
Episode 75: Smile
In the mock battlefield of the Royal Adventurer Academy, two girls were crossing swords.
One of them skillfully wielded a rapier, her tied-back hair whipping around wildly.
The other repeatedly parried the attacks with a dagger.
The girl holding the rapier was Teritia of the S-Class. She had leveled up to Level 2 during the long break and was now adjusting her movements to match her enhanced skills.
Maior, wielding the dagger, was sparring with Teritia at her request to help with that adjustment.
However, even though she was doing this as a favor, the training was beneficial for Maior as well. Teritia’s skill was exceptional, and being able to train daily with such a swordswoman was a stroke of luck for her.
Maior was focused on practicing the art of parrying while making full use of 【Detection】’s [Trajectory].
After discussions with Kito, she had come to believe that this kind of training was the most effective. Teritia’s request had been perfectly timed.
Deflecting thrust attacks in close combat was no easy feat, especially against someone like Teritia, a master with the 【Fencing】 skill and extremely high combat skill.
Teritia’s sword movements had minimal telegraphing, making her attacks difficult to defend against. Maior relied on 【Detection】’s panoramic perspective and 【Trajectory】 to evade and parry.
When they had first started training, she hadn’t been able to see Teritia’s attacks at all. Even though they used practice swords and protective gear, her body was soon covered in bruises.
She had tried desperately to 【Detection】 the attacks, but the overwhelming influx of information had made dodging even harder. In an already fast-paced battle, processing too much data was inefficient.
Even so, Maior did not filter out the information. Instead, she decided to use her skills as they came to her, refining them through trial and error—learning through pain.
She knew there were other ways to simply learn how to fight against Teritia, but that wasn’t her goal. She had to survive against unknown foes in the future. That meant she had to rebuild her fundamentals from the ground up.
Her core was 【Detection】. No matter how much information there was, if she couldn’t find a way to make use of it, she had no future. With that resolve, Maior continued her training.
As she repeated the process, her skill to parry improved. In certain situations, an overhead view was better. In others, [Trajectory] was more useful. She was steadily gathering basic knowledge through experience.
“Maimai, you’ve gotten really good before I even noticed. Mind if I go all out now?”
Teritia asked, narrowing her sharp eyes.
“Have you already gotten used to your level-up?”
“More or less. As long as I’m not at full power, I can control it just fine now.”
“Then let’s do one last round at full power. It’s a bit sad, but this training is coming to an end.”
“Let’s spar again after the martial arts tournament. I actually had a lot of fun reading and reacting to your movements, Maimai.”
“Me too.”
Teritia tightened her grip on her sword and took her stance.
In the next instant, she stepped in with a swift motion from a distance. The thrust that followed was the fastest and strongest attack Maior had ever faced.
Maior continued to withstand Teritia’s fierce onslaught.
Her skills were constantly active, but she had no time to carefully analyze the information. She was moving almost entirely on instinct.
“With that motion, the next attack might come from here.”
“From that trajectory, the next move could be this.”
She was making judgment after judgment in rapid succession.
Sometimes, her instincts were slightly off.
Yet, strangely enough, she never got hit.
“Teritia must be feeling confused.”
Maior thought as she fought.
Even she found it strange—Teritia was unleashing one perfect strike after another, and yet, somehow, Maior never broke.
Growing frustrated, Teritia stepped in forcefully, attempting to knock Maior’s sword away.
Maior responded by increasing the amount of mana flowing into her skill, then smoothly slipped into Teritia’s space.
Caught off guard by the sudden close distance, Teritia momentarily froze.
Seizing that moment, Maior put all her strength into a kick aimed at Teritia’s right hand.
CLANG!
The sword flew through the air before clattering to the ground.
Maior pointed her dagger at the stunned Teritia and spoke.
“Are you surprised by this outcome? Because I’m absolutely shocked.”
The hand holding the sword trembled.
In the latter half of the academic year at the Royal Adventurer Academy, a martial arts tournament was held.
Blunted weapons were used, and magic was restricted, but regardless of grade level, students were tested based on their individual combat skill at their respective levels.
The entire school had its eyes on Seneca.
How far could the prodigy of the first year go?
There was even talk that she might win the whole thing.
However, as the tournament approached, it was revealed that Seneca would be absent due to receiving a designated request.
Many within the academy accused her of “running away.”
Seneca herself was unbothered, but the three members of Moonlit Oath felt the weight of the criticism.
The real reason Seneca wasn’t participating was that she had already reached Level 3.
In the history of the Royal Adventurer Academy, only two students had ever reached Level 3 while still enrolled—and both had done so near the end of their third year.
Seneca, on the other hand, had achieved it midway through her first year.
Her absence from the tournament was a strategic move by Attalos to keep the unprecedented speed of her level-up from becoming widely known.
However, this decision severely damaged her reputation.
Some of the more perceptive students, as well as her S-Class friends, briefly considered the possibility that Seneca had reached Level 3.
But the idea was so absurd that they dismissed it, concluding that Seneca had simply chosen to ignore the expectations placed on her.
Maior had heard the truth from Kito.
“Even when Sene-chan looks like she doesn’t care at all, she actually gets hurt more often than you’d think.”
So, while they were chatting in the dorms one day, Maior suddenly pulled her into a slow, silent hug.
“Maior? What’s this all of a sudden?”
“Sometimes, it’s just nice, isn’t it?”
“Aww, do you feel like being pampered? There, there.”
Their roles had somehow reversed, but seeing Seneca’s carefree smile made Maior feel just a little lighter.
