It's a Gender-Reversed World, But I Don't Go Out Anyway - Chapter 18
Chapter 18: Looking for an Editor
***
[LoLCriteMC donated 10,000 won.]
– Your LoL rank doesn’t deserve this meal money
[29YearOldBabyMC donated 15,000 won.]
– Baby wants you to play horror games.
[MintChocoPineappleZico donated 20,000 won]
– Let’s just go forum browsing lol~ Read the post about controversial foods
[YasuoOralYas donated 14,000 won.]
– Add it to LoL
The shower of donations kept pouring in, with the momentum showing no signs of stopping and only growing hotter.
I probably maintained a mindset of either “play whatever you want” or “thanks for the generous donations” up until around 7,000 won, but after it exceeded 10,000, the pressure and anxiety grew stronger. Doesn’t it feel like I’m becoming someone who’s manipulating donations and sucking my viewers dry?
Did I actually encourage donations?
Anyway, I tried to mediate briefly.
“Hey guys, this isn’t an auction. Why are you doing this?”
What I had in mind was just people sharing their opinions with simple 1,000 won punches, but someone raised it to 2,000 won, and then another person couldn’t stand losing, starting a pointless competition.
[Not an auction?]
[Ah lol so it’s not that kind of stream]
[For real, I thought you’d do whatever had the highest donation like other streamers]
“What kind of streams have you guys been watching…”
There are actually streamers who do these auction-like things?
And viewers actually participate in them?
It didn’t make sense to me, but judging from the viewers’ reactions, it seems to actually exist.
[Too embarrassed to say]
[For real lol when parents walk in I quickly switch from that stream to porn]
[It’s actually less embarrassing to say you watch porn lol]
[I recommend code DJJJ-001 lol][1]
[What’s DJJJ?]
[DaejuJuJi]
I don’t know what kind of streams these are, but I unintentionally ended up collecting money.
I forcibly stopped the donations.
[Open up!!!]
[Let me… donate]
[Oppaaa…]
[Ah I was just about to load up a donation –]
“Guys, stop spending money now and let’s decide. It’s enough.”
When someone stops something, they should naturally receive praise, so I don’t understand why these people are protesting against me.
[I don’t know if it’s enough for the streamer, but it’s not enough for me]
[Let me donate more]
[The only drug allowed by the nation… Daeju stream donations…]
I felt a bit intimidated by what seemed like a kind of madness.
Looking through what was written, among the four options that received the most money, LoL and StarCraft were obviously there, and the unexpected candidates were horror games and forum browsing. The reason for horror games felt like an intention to somehow mess with me.
Everyone probably thinks I can’t handle horror games. Like, screaming, cursing, not being able to properly play the game – and they’re right.
“As expected, LoL is what most people want.”
[LoL again?]
[Let’s go LoL~]
[No… play horror games!]
While I do win sometimes when playing LoL, and it’s a game I’m relatively better at among the games I’m generally bad at… I’m kind of tired of it, probably because I’ve played it so much for streaming. Well, of course, my room’s viewers donated for LoL, and since my first stream was LoL, many viewers came through LoL.
If my tension is low, the stream won’t be fun either… so…
“Since we’ve done a lot of game streams recently… let’s do forum browsing.”
[???]
[A game streamer not wanting to play games because they played too many games, is this for real lololol]
[I’m fine with it lolol A game streamer can take breaks from games too! lolol]
[Isn’t there… something else?]
[Just go with it, everyone haha it’s Daeju after all]
“Yeah, let’s just go with it.”
[It’s irritating when you say that]
[If I had a sibling like Daeju, I would’ve beaten him up every day.]
[Me too lol I would’ve squeezed him dry.]
[? Squeezed what?]
[hehe]
I was about to ban them but left it alone since there were still some innocent people who didn’t understand.
Just when I became a partner streamer, I wonder if I’ll get a warning someday because of these bastards. Is there a streamer who lost their partner status because of their viewers? If that was a YouTube title, would it guarantee views?
Tgether Daeju board.
This place is like the final prison of devils, honestly, other streamers should be somewhat grateful to me. If it weren’t for me, these devils would have spread across Twis like a plague and broken streamers’ mentals. Since I came from a different world, I’m enduring in this swamp of sexual harassment chat.
“Uh… what’s this”
[Daeju-nim, are you perhaps looking for an editor?]
You’d be an instant hit if you started YouTube, so if you’re looking for an editor, please take me.
I’m good at editing. I’m also good at laundry, dishes, and making puppy noises, so please hire me as an editor.
If that’s not possible, please take me as a pet.
I’m potty trained, and if I try hard enough, I can even do multiplication tables
[Comments]
– Would YouTube work out for him? Might get age-restricted for being too sexy
– Not sure, but since the chat back-and-forth is good, editing that might work
– But is someone who needs to try hard to do multiplication tables good enough as an editor?
ㄴ You’re saying no to an editor who can make puppy noises?
***
“What’s with this person now. If you’re going to appeal, upload an editing sample, why…”
I wonder why they’re appealing about laundry and dishes. I’m good at dishes too, and for laundry, it’s just more comfortable to go to a coin laundry. Puppy noises are even more useless. But certainly, the word YouTube was appealing. It seemed like an established pattern for streamers to try YouTube after their streams become successful.
Sometimes you see cases where YouTube doesn’t work out even though the stream is successful, and conversely, cases where the stream is just okay but YouTube takes off.
The biggest influence on that is probably the editor.
“Would you guys watch if I had a YouTube channel?”
[I would]
[Depends on the content?]
[Of course we would! What kind of relationship do you think we have!]
[Pu*sy!][2]
ㄴ [Chat has been disabled for 10 minutes.]
There were many opinions saying they would watch.
This might be worth trying.
Actually, I hadn’t thought about starting YouTube until I was earning money stably. However, after bragging about becoming a partner streamer, with the many viewers who subscribed and the money earned from the recent auction – it was quite a large amount. Even if I just maintained viewers at this level without growing, it would be enough.
It seemed better to start YouTube precisely when in such a comfortable situation.
Even if the stream’s popularity wanes, having YouTube as a second source of income could help survive.
“Should we look for an editor today?”
[Daeju’s advancing to YouTube?]
[Ow shit…. is the monster rookie Daeju going?]
[Ow fuck…. is the hung rookie Daeju leaving?]
[Buy me snacks if you make it big]
[I should apply.]
Thinking there might be at least one good editor among about 700 viewers, I posted a notice on the board.
The content stated that you could become Daeju’s YouTube editor by applying with an editing sample.
The conditions weren’t much.
Monthly salary at minimum wage level – it’s been a while since I had a part-time job so I looked it up and it showed 1.8 million won (~1350$). I wasn’t sure if this was low or high for a YouTube editor, so I wrote this amount, and fortunately, the comment reactions were good. By the way, the part that said I would somehow reward them either by raising the salary or giving a percentage of YouTube earnings if things go well seemed to help make the reactions positive.
After posting the notice, I gave people some time to submit their posts.
[Oh lol the hidden masters are already appearing]
[?? There’s even an editor I know?]
[Wow lolololol another streamer’s editor applied lolololol]
[Mysterious editor ntr…]
“Eh? No… why would they do that…”
I was already worried that this might cause problems.
If they’re another streamer’s editor, wouldn’t it be awkward to hire them no matter how good they are?
When I refreshed the posts after putting up the notice, as the viewers said, many people had written applications as if they’d been waiting.
Regardless of the number of recommendations, I tried to be as fair as possible by clicking and checking each one. They’re not just anyone, but an important person who’ll be responsible for my YouTube’s success… well, not precious, but important since I’ll be paying them a salary.
“The recommendation count is… scientific, I guess.”
[Our eyes are accurate.]
[It’s not like we spend 10+ hours a day looking for YouTube and streamers for nothing lol]
[Get a life, teacher…]
[Isn’t this quite a stylish life…?]
[No, it’s not.]
There were applications from as many as 40 people… well, it might be a bit more, but anyway, there were many applications, and eventually it was narrowed down to candidates with over 50 recommendations.
There were three candidates in total, but one was eliminated.
The reason was-
“You’re already editing for two streamers. This makes me nervous.”
Of course, maybe because they were experienced, the editing had a kind of cleanliness and familiarity that felt like I’d seen it somewhere before. However, perhaps because of that, it seemed to lack character, and with already editing for two streamers plus me, I worried that with so much work, the editing might be delayed or the quality might drop.
Two candidates remained.
One had editing that I thought captured the humor elements and jokes of the current generation well, making me chuckle throughout watching it. It was the kind of editing that would be generally popular, and occasionally adding sensible songs and sound effects was good too. I preferred this one.
The other one had the highest number of recommendations.
This one also had good sense. And while the jokes and humor elements were good… it was a bit spicy. If the above one was like regular ramen that anyone could enjoy, this was like fire noodles that taste good but have severe aftereffects. While I found it funny, given YouTube’s characteristics where various people need to watch…
“Well, this is funny but… it’s a bit spicy, isn’t it?”
[This bastard lolololol didn’t miss a single sexual joke or swear word in the editing lololol]
[This editor is kind, and the streamer looks delicious.]
[Bro, you honestly prefer number 2 too.]
[There’s no small ju-ji man pretending to be innocent while doing YouTube, right?]
The viewers’ reactions already seemed to be leaning one way.
“No… ha…”
In the end, the second spicy editor was chosen.

(End of Chapter)
T/N:
1. “DJJJ” – A play on JAV coding format, using the streamer’s name lol.
2. The “p*ssy” ban joke works in Korean because “보지” can mean both “I’ll watch” and also plain old “p*ssy”.
Supposedly “Tgether” is a reference to “DCInside Gallery”, a real Korean community platform popular among streamers and their fans.
