It's a Gender-Reversed World, But I Don't Go Out Anyway - Chapter 26
Chapter 26: PUBG (2)
—
I formulated my own strategy and immediately started the game. The game must still be popular since it didn’t take long to find a match, and after a few minutes, I boarded the plane. That’s when I belatedly realized one of PUBG’s important systems.
It was the voice chat feature. While other games these days have voice chat too, one of the differences between PUBG and other games was that you could let other people hear your voice.
As soon as the game started and I boarded the plane, I began hearing various people’s voices.
At first, there were people chatting among themselves, and others discussing where to land.
But suddenly, someone called my name.
“Daeju?”
I heard an unfamiliar woman’s voice. Though I’d never heard the voice before, the name that came from those lips was definitely mine.
The way they called me was so familiar that for a moment I thought it might be someone I knew, but there wasn’t anyone like that, and even if there was, there’s no way I’d meet them in PUBG. Someone who wasn’t an acquaintance but would call me familiarly.
“Uh… are you a viewer?”
As soon as I responded, people on the plane started revealing themselves as viewers one by one.
“Oh, sniping successful.”
“Daeju, where are you landing?”
“Noona will protect you, just stay put”
“Our Daeju… want to go on a honeymoon with noona in a wedding car?”
“Auntie, stop hitting on him”
“Ah… this is messed up.”
[These crazy girls lololol]
[Oh, I should try sniping next round too]
[Ah lolol compared to LoL, stream sniping difficulty is sweet as honey]
[You can see how flustered Daeju is lol]
The voices of viewers and stream snipers were echoing throughout the plane. I didn’t know exactly how many were sniping, but at least 10 people were chanting my name. Honestly, among those saying my name, some probably didn’t even know who Daeju was and were just following along because everyone else was shouting it.
When one viewer mentioned that I could go into settings and mute other people’s voices, I was about to head there, but the viewers’ reactions were so good that I couldn’t even do that.
Even the editor said this was YouTube-worthy material and we should keep going with it, so I had no choice but to continue.
“Please don’t follow me”
I said it with desperate sincerity, but it seemed too late for my desperation to change their minds. No, rather, my pleading seemed to have stimulated something as they started acting up even more.
“Don’t worry Daeju, noona will protect you”
“Let’s go, Daeju and his 40 Daeju followers~”
“That begging voice is kind of hot”
“Wow… there’s even someone saying that out loud instead of in chat”
“Why are you picking a fight?”
My head started hurting.
“Don’t protect me! Just kill me instead!”
I honestly don’t know about PUBG these days, but back when I played, there was one of the most taboo actions. That was called “teaming” – simply put, it meant enemies who should be fighting each other forming a team instead.
It was something many users hated the most, and even PUBG developers would punish such gameplay without hesitation. If a streamer did that, whether intentionally or not? I could already envision my name being dragged through the mud in the PUBG community.
Compared to LoL, stream sniping in PUBG was way too easy.
Next time, I’ll have to queue secretly with my screen turned off.
“Sigh, I’ll just treat this round as practice and shoot around.”
[F]
[F]
[But will they even get to practice?]
[? Why?]
[Aren’t all the stream snipers going to land in the same place?]
I dropped when the plane was over the city, as I had planned.
As expected of a city, many people dropped there.
A bit too many, actually.
“Daeju~”
“This is driving me crazy”
[Hehe can’t escape]
[With so many people dropping in the city, the property values must be rising!]
[Who’s raising these cows!]
[5 more people landed at the house Daeju picked lolololol]
It was already a spot where many people usually land, and now stream snipers were added to the mix. What’s more, at least 5 stream snipers had landed at the house I was targeting, and inside I could hear gunshots and the sound of breaking glass, as if the stream snipers were already fighting each other.
I ran straight into the neighboring house without looking back.
On the floor was a gun called the s686, though nobody ever called it by that name. Everyone called it the double barrel, and for some reason they shortened even that to “dub-bae[1].” With only two rounds, it was a somewhat disappointing shotgun for facing multiple opponents, but if you could land both shots instantly, no opponent with any kind of armor could survive at close range – more than making up for its shortcomings.
Even someone with poor aim like me could hit with a shotgun at close range.
“Daeju is her- Ack!”
As soon as I finished loading, I heard the door open and mercilessly fired both shotgun rounds.
The timing worked out perfectly as I had just finished reloading, and I was able to use it to send one stream sniper away.
Actually, I didn’t aim deliberately – I was reloading when the closed door suddenly opened, so I clicked, and both shots hit the torso directly for the kill.
[1 kill]
[Unknown#051 has died from your S686]
[Oh]
[Looking at how much the mouse shook, seems like he just shot out of surprise and got the kill]
[A streamer who shoots fans with a shotgun when they come to say hi]
[That’s quite a reaction oof;;]
I felt a bit dazed after the kill too. Since this was solo, I just had to shoot all visible enemies, but after killing them and realizing it was my viewer – even I felt a bit bad about it stream snipers deserve it though. I looted the corpse and got a level 2 backpack and helmet. I wanted to get a vest too, but because of my shotgun shots, the vest was already too damaged so I gave up.
There were no weapons.
After looting, I only got armor – there wasn’t even a common melee weapon.
“Ugh… couldn’t they bring something?”
[For real lolol doesn’t know how to donate]
[Still, the helmet and backpack are pretty sweet]
[This stream sniper is about a 6 out of 10]
“Is it here?”
Another viewer’s voice could be heard from outside.
You might ask how I knew it was a viewer already, but no properly functioning gamer would intentionally walk around talking with voice chat on in a city like this.
“I can hear my voice on the stream so this must be the place”
[oooof]
[Crazy person… deliberately talking to themselves since if their voice is heard on stream, Daeju must be nearby;;;]
[This one’s really scary]
[Too scary, let’s put a shotgun to her head ㅠㅠ]
It was like a horror movie. What made it worse was that this house had many windows, so I had no idea which direction she might shoot from.
[Why is this person’s aim shaking so much?]
[Must be nervous]
[Lololol with this much shaking he must be smelling shampoo]
[Hey, are you scared? lol If it were me, I wouldn’t camp like a gay person, I’d go out and blow their head off]
“Is it here~?”
Excited by the chat’s reactions, the stream sniper kept talking, and from her voice direction, I could roughly tell where she was. So I lay prone by the window in front and waited for the right moment – when the stream sniper tried to peek inside through the window—
“Die!”
“Kyaak!”
[2 kills]
[Unknown#017 has died from your S686]
[Agh the scream is so loud, and I had max volume…]
[Whew;;;]
[I thought this was horror but it’s John Wick…]
[Who told you to stream snipe?]
[The supreme close-range weapon that covers even shaky aim… double barrel…]
The moment her face appeared in the window, I suddenly got up from prone position and landed both shotgun shots again. Whether she couldn’t react in time or was only listening to the stream audio, she died with a startled scream. Her scream startled me too.
I came out of the house and got an AR while looting the corpse. As expected of the Korean server, I got a gun called K2 – though I wasn’t sure about its performance, I decided to keep it since I’d definitely need a rifle for long-range fights.
Already 2 kills, it was sad that this might be my PUBG personal best, but my chest was trembling with a pleasant excitement.
If this is the charm of shooting games, then so be it.
The surroundings were no longer noisy.
Though many people had landed, everyone fought desperately from the start, so they all died quickly.
Bodies and loot boxes were scattered here and there near what looked like a road. There had already been one round of fighting, and while I hoped the stream sniper I just killed was the survivor of that fight, I didn’t let my guard down.
That’s when I heard a car horn in the distance.
“Huh?”
[What? What’s happening?]
[In this game, (people who drive around honking are spec) guaranteed to die]
[(Explanation spam spec) explains things nobody’s curious about]
[Where do you live?]
[(spec)[2] even if you knew, you couldn’t come]
The horn was so loud that when I looked in that direction, I saw a car approaching.
Straight towards me.
“Uh…”
I switched weapons and started shooting the K2 at the car coming straight at me.
To be precise, I was shooting at the person driving the car. No matter what, hitting someone in a moving car wasn’t easy, but as they kept getting closer to me, the target kept getting bigger, and I finally got them.
[3 kills]
[Unknown#038 has died from your K2]
“Got’em!”
[Oh!]
[Wow insane]
[Huh?]
[Hey, this isn’t the time to reload]
[Look in front, look in front!]
And I had forgotten about PUBG’s excellent physics engine.
“Huh? Why isn’t the car stopping”
Thunk.
[Cut!]
[The mindless deer reloading got cut! lololol]
[I told you to watch ahead lololol]
[Why are we seeing D.Va’s[3] ultimate in PUBG lololol]
Though the driver was dead, the car took revenge in their place.
[Rank 75th 3 kills]
[These things happen, just one of those days]
While I was feeling proud of the kill and reloading, the car ran into my character, and I finished with 3 kills 1 death.
