It's a Gender-Reversed World, But I Don't Go Out Anyway - Chapter 4
Chapter 4: The First Donation
* * *
[Stop winning… it’s boring]
[Fr… can tell you’re new to streaming, no broadcasting sense. It’s more fun when you lose]
[Where are the stream snipers?]
[Lol as if there’d be Silver stream snipers]
Another victory – the word “VICTORY” was proudly displayed on the game screen. Not only that, but the damage graph shown after the game proved that my Ezreal had done overwhelming damage. As this made it my fifth consecutive win, the toxic viewers were all deflated. My rank, which had been in Silver 10LP[1] at the start of the stream, had steadily climbed until the Gold promotion series screen was now staring me in the face.
Perhaps it was because the main gender demographic of gamers had become female. Lane phase felt easier than usual, and whether it was because I had a natural talent for streaming or not, having the broadcast on actually gave me a pleasant sense of pressure. Spurred on by the viewers’ borderline hostile responses, my gameplay improved even further.
Though ironically, those who had been engaging seemed disappointed, apparently not having wanted me to win quite this much.
“Oh my… I’m sorry for being too good. I should try to lose on purpose but it’s not easy. Hahaha”
[Ugh]
[Seriously master… you’re so disgusting…]
[Does this guy not know what humility means?]
[What kind of streamer acts like this on their first broadcast?]
[Here’s the streamer you’ve been looking for^^]
[Lmaooo in 3 months he’ll be making mom jokes]
[Just mom jokes?]
After five wins in a row, I must have been too satisfied because I lost the desire to play more games. I maximized the chat window and started interacting with viewers. The viewers didn’t seem interested in watching a League broadcast where I was just happy either, as no one suggested that I should play more.
Or maybe they were just triggered because I spoke in a slightly irritating way.
The viewer count hadn’t increased much. While that was disappointing, not many people had left either, so I was somewhat satisfied. Currently there were 45 viewers. Since there weren’t too many, I was starting to memorize viewer nicknames one by one. I had already remembered several particularly memorable ones who chatted frequently and had unique usernames.
“Humanscum-daeju, Grandma’s-Porsche-wrecker-daeju, Kim-Hyeji… these nicknames are toxic…”
[Kim Hyeji is my real name wtf why is it toxic]
[The name itself is toxic;;]
[What kind of person name is Hyeji]
[Yeah your dad]
[So toxic lolol]
I was chuckling at how perfectly the responses were getting triggered just as I expected, when suddenly a loud fanfare sound played through my earphones. From what I remembered, while this wasn’t a common sound even when watching streams, you could occasionally hear it on broadcasts of “major corporations” as they were called – streams with many viewers.
This must be the sound that plays when someone makes a large donation.
[Yeonhee has donated 100,000 won.]
– I’ve been enjoying your stream. Would it be possible to play a game together later?
I was taken aback by the sudden large amount of 100,000 won.
People often gave reactions as thanks for donations of 10,000 won, but this wasn’t just 10,000 – it was 100,000 won. I found myself bowing even though I didn’t have a camera.
“Wow… thank you. Oh of- of course we should play… wow…”
I stumbled over my words, not knowing how to react.
If it had been 10,000 or 20,000 won, I would have thought playing a game with the donor would be fine, but 100,000 won for one game? Even if the game went long and lasted an hour, that would make it a 100,000 won hourly rate.
As I was wracking my brain trying to think of how to react, the chat’s response right after the donation was concerning. Not only was it filled with curses, but the chat was also being spammed with various “on fire” emoticons. And the target of the cursing wasn’t directed at me for my weak reaction, but rather at the person with the nickname Yeonhee who had just made the donation.
Looking closer at what was going on:
[This mf Yeonhee why aren’t you streaming! Go!]
[Actually don’t need to stream, watching Daeju’s stream is more fun]
[Fr lol]
[Wow Yeonhee that b*tch calling herself a woman but coming to male streams throwing money asking for duo games lolol]
[Technically I own part of that money so shouldn’t I get to play a game too?]
[That b*tch came here? This place is full of toxic people]
[? Then she came to the right place, the one who just donated is the most toxic]
That’s when the name Yeonhee finally clicked in my head.
“Ah, you’re a streamer? I think I watched your stream briefly before?”
I remembered the first stream I looked up after confirming this was a gender-reversed world. Streamer Yeonhee, who was excellent at inducing donations by frustrating viewers a bit, just like I was doing now. Thinking back, I seemed to have naturally copied her style while streaming. Broadcasting in a way that made viewers unable to resist typing in chat by teasing them and acting in ways that slightly annoyed them.
If there was one particularly memorable scene from that stream-
“That was good, the reaction where you open your mouth saying it’s too sweet when you get money…”
[Of all things they saw the ‘Open Sesame’ reaction lololol]
[F*ck this is so cringe lololol]
[Lololol f*ck is there a streamer who shows their uvula, not even breasts, to a male streamer?]
[Showing breasts is a crime, teacher]
[Fr what did you expect, it’s karma for streaming like a b*tch lolol]
[Karma…? Up p*ssy that’s so lewd wow]
[?]
So that’s what they called that reaction – “Open Sesame.”
Setting aside the name, it seemed many people here were well-versed in her streams since they immediately understood what I was vaguely referring to. Well, that reaction wasn’t exactly common, so I imagine rumors would have spread even among those who hadn’t watched her streams.
As for the person who actually did that reaction, perhaps feeling ashamed:
[Yeonhee: Sigh… (crying emoticon)]
While she was posting emoticons expressing regret about her karma…
I deliberately ignored the heated chat to cool things down and set up the appointment.
“Um… I’ve had plenty of League for today, would tomorrow work for you?”
[Yeonhee: Ah yes! That works!]
[Ah yes! This bs]
[F*ck looking at just the chat you’d think she was pure and bubbly lolol]
[Fr there’s even YouTube clips of her making 17 consecutive mom jokes during stream lolol]
[Shed tears of emotion when she made rhyming insults with ‘your dad’ lol]
Seems she had a YouTube channel too since people were mentioning YouTube. I’ll definitely have to search for that “17 consecutive mom jokes” video sometime.
[Yeonhee: Alright noting down nicknames~ Bans incoming~]
[Love you unnie]
[Just looking at her writing style you can tell why Yeonhee is #1 wife material hehe]
[Gonna submit to power? I will. Is Yeonhee a goddess? ^^]
The chat quickly became clean thanks to Yeonhee’s efforts, or rather, her power.
Well, at least until a horde of evil arrived after hearing news of Yeonhee’s appearance in my chat.
About 3 minutes after roughly setting up the appointment, my viewer count started gradually increasing. If it had gone up by 1 or 2 people, I might have felt it was word of mouth or that the stream was doing well, but it was increasing by 5-10 people almost every 10 seconds. This meant-
“Are these Yeonhee’s fans?”
[We watch that b*tch’s stream but we’re not fans]
[Well if anti-fans count as fans then yeah we’re fans lol]
[This b*tch is practically living off us feeding and taking care of her but here she is making duo appointments with guys lol]
The room became noisy with chat messages filling up the screen as soon as they entered. While I was happy to have more viewers, the concern was my existing viewers. They were already territorial among themselves, so how would they react to viewers from another stream coming in?
[Kim Hyeji: What are these fatherless b*tches doing causing trouble in someone else’s stream]
[Hehe let’s get along well among us have-nots]
[Master of passive aggression;;]
[Yeonhee: I’m so sorry about my stream’s viewers ã… ã… I’ll ban them all later]
[You’re embarrassed of us?]
[Baby want milk]
[F*ck why is the chat like this!]
Sure enough, one of our proud stream’s viewers kicked things off with a mom joke. Though I temporarily restricted chat, the fighting instinct triggered by that mom joke spread like wildfire and the chat was roughly spammed.
Of course Yeonhee apologized to me as the unwitting catalyst of this incident, but honestly, this wasn’t her fault.
While she did stream in a way that toxic viewers tended to prefer, I was doing the same kind of stream that appealed to toxic viewers too. Neither of us could blame the other when we were similar types.
This was my cue to step in.
As a broadcaster, it was my job to cool down this heated chat.
“Alright alright, we got a big donation today, and had some good League games so-”
[Here comes the big one.]
[Is it shota Ezreal?]
[Big breasts?]
[It’s yuri yuri…]
“I’m ending the stream~”
[????]
[Did I hear wrong? You’re leaving just when we’re about to hit 100 viewers and blow up? Ah lol there’s no way lol]
[You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right? You’re joking right?]
[No way No way No way No way No way No way No way No way No way No way No way No way No way]
[Daeju have you lost your mind think about this again are you really going to throw away this golden opportunity to become a major corporation in record time if you stream just a bit longer I’m not kidding you could become big enough to not just slap Yeonhee’s cheeks but her chest too? Hm? Listen to noona and start League again okay? Okay? Okay?]
[These crazy b*tches are so chaotic;;]
As I expected, all the chat’s firepower focused on me. I’d say I succeeded in getting them to stop fighting among themselves.
Finally-
“Yeonhee, I’ll accept when you send a friend request to my League ID!”
[Yeonhee: Ah okay]
[What about us? What about us?]
[Are you really leaving?]
With those final words, I boldly ended the stream.
4 hours. That was the length of my first broadcast.
