Burn Out - Chapter 85
â—Ž We’re getting married! â—Ž
Ji Ting turned her head.
There were many people below the stage: Yu Xi, Long Kong, Meng Jia, Fu Yan, Wen Nanxi, Chen Fei, Zhou Xiong, and others. Zhou Xiong was even filming with a camera. Ji Ting turned back to look at Tan Yucheng and said, “Didn’t you say you’d be busy with overtime recently?”
Since the new project started, he had been very busy for the past few months, and he even went to Beijing last week.
Chen Fei yelled from below, “He is busy, but he’s also planning when to propose to you.”
“That’s right. We helped with the planning and thought about how to arrange it. Initially, we planned to propose at your store, but we decided to change the location,” Long Kong said with a smile.
Ji Ting’s eyes were filled with tears, looking at Tan Yucheng with affection.
He smiled without speaking, holding her waist tightly.
Yu Xi and Meng Jia were standing together. Yu Xi leaned close to Meng Jia and said, “I just realized Tan Yucheng can be quite gentle, but that gentleness is only for Tingting.”
Meng Jia clicked her tongue in response.
She remembered confessing to him last year on her birthday, only to be told to put her leg down. Later, when he left, he was clearly leaving with Ji Ting. At that time, she didn’t know Ji Ting had called him.
Ji Ting, that dog woman, was lying.
Of course, she knew Ji Ting wasn’t good at lying, so it must have been Tan Yucheng who made Ji Ting lie to avoid her.
Yu Xi turned to Meng Jia, “Why the click?”
Meng Jia rolled her eyes and didn’t respond.
Tan Yucheng held Ji Ting for a while. Despite the many people below, he still leaned down and kissed her lips, his voice low and lazy, “So, it’s decided? Will you marry me?”
Ji Ting looked into his eyes and nodded.
Tan Yucheng’s eyebrows lifted, his chest vibrating with joy. He looked up, holding her hand, and said, “Let’s go. I’ll take you to see the fireworks.”
Ji Ting followed his steps, “What fireworks?”
They walked down the stairs. Everyone laughed and followed them. Ji Ting’s eyes met Wen Nanxi’s. Wen Nanxi smiled, linked arms with Fu Yan, and winked at her.
Ji Ting smiled back and held her hand.
The group arrived at the entrance.
Ji Ting then realized the place was somewhat secluded, with no shops around, only mountains nearby.
At the entrance, a computer had been set up at some point. Tan Yucheng led Ji Ting to the computer, casually pressing a few keys with his long fingers. The sound of the drone began, and then fireworks started to spin in the sky.
Boom—
The drone fireworks exploded in the sky, turning it into a galaxy of stars.
It was stunningly beautiful.
Yu Xi exclaimed, “It’s so beautiful!”
Unlike real fireworks, drone fireworks don’t have a finale, they can change infinitely in mid-air with even more brilliant colors. Ji Ting looked back at him. Tan Yucheng lowered his eyes and held her waist, asking, “Is it beautiful?”
Ji Ting’s eyes curved into a smile as she leaned against him, “Yes, it’s beautiful.”
She was holding his arm, on which three beautiful rings were placed— the teardrop-shaped engagement ring, a tri-color ring for declaration, and the coronet crown ring.
Tan Yucheng’s lips curled into a gentle smile.
They continued to watch the fireworks together.
A line of people stood at the entrance: Chen Fei and Zhou Xiong were next to Long Kong, with Chen Fei resting his shoulder on Long Kong’s. He asked, “Long Kong, since Tan Yucheng is getting married, what about you?”
Long Kong replied helplessly, “I’ll be the best man.”
Chen Fei asked, “I mean do you have a girlfriend and when are you planning to get married?”
Long Kong glanced at Ji Ting leaning on Tan Yucheng and then turned away, saying, “Mind your own business, little kid.”
Chen Fei retorted, “Who’s the little kid?”
Zhou Xiong, recording with his camera, laughed.
Fu Yan also held Wen Nanxi close, and Wen Nanxi had a soft smile on her face, leaning against him with a beautiful ring on her hand.
Yu Xi stood next to Meng Jia.
Meng Jia, wearing high heels and crossing her arms. Yu Xi looked at the fireworks and said, “If someone set off such fireworks for me, I’d be willing to marry him.”
Meng Jia replied with disdain, “Just for a fireworks display? You have no standards.”
Yu Xi cleared her throat and asked Meng Jia quietly, “The three rings Tan Yucheng gave Ji Ting, are they very expensive?”
Meng Jia gave her a number in a whisper.
Yu Xi was shocked.
Meng Jia looked at the sky and clicked her tongue.
The fireworks intertwined with the galaxy, lighting up the night sky. The nearby school, residential areas, and supermarket could all see the sky filled with fireworks, with people coming and going in the supermarket.
Xiao Xi, holding her phone, was beside Qiu Dan with a constant smile on her face. The two fathers stood behind, peering at the video Zhou Xiong sent them. When Ji Ting said yes in the video, Xiao Xi sighed and smiled, “Oh, why didn’t Ji Ting wait a bit longer for him to bring out the remaining rings?”
Qiu Dan glanced at her, “How many did Yucheng prepare?”
Xiao Xi smiled, “Not too many, around ten.”
Qiu Dan responded, “Are you guys just spending money because you have too much of it?”
Xiao Xi laughed, “It’s nothing, there are more gold rings to come.”
Tan Hui agreed from the back, “Exactly, this is nothing.”
Qiu Dan was speechless.
Ji Lintong smiled, watching the couple in the video. Seeing his daughter being so well cared for made him as a father the happiest. After the video ended, fireworks exploded not far outside. Xiao Xi took Qiu Dan’s hand and walked outside, saying, “It must be Yucheng’s arrangement.”
“It’s so beautiful. Technology really changes lives, you can see it so clearly from so far away.”
Qiu Dan looked at the starry sky and agreed that it was indeed quite beautiful.
Xiao Xi continued watching, then turned to Qiu Dan and said, “We need to start preparing for the kids’ wedding. After all these years, this is the biggest happiness.”
Qiu Dan smiled and nodded.
Tan Hui adjusted his glasses and said, “It’s really great.”
Ji Lintong nodded in agreement, “Indeed.”
The two nearby schools also saw the fireworks over at the Encounter bar, and many people came out to look. Shu Xiao, holding a cup of coffee, looked up at the sky.
Someone walked by her side and said, “It seems like someone is proposing, that’s why there are such beautiful fireworks, and it’s the latest drone model.”
Hearing the word “drone,” Shu Xiao’s hand trembled. She instinctively opened her social media.
Sure enough, she saw a video posted by Long Kong.
Tan Yucheng covered Ji Ting’s eyes, his gaze tender as he looked at the woman in his arms, placing one ring after another on her finger and asking if she was willing to marry him so they could spend their lives together.
Shu Xiao’s fingers tightened.
They had only been together for such a short time, and now they were getting married.
What she didn’t know was that for Tan Yucheng and Ji Ting, their bond began when their mothers first met, continuing through their ten years together since their freshman year, not just a short time.
The coffee cup in Shu Xiao’s hand was being squeezed.
The brown liquid was about to spill from the cup.
Just like the twisted and unwilling feelings inside her at this moment.
In Long Kong’s comment section, there were only blessings.
One comment read: Using so many diamond rings for a proposal, help!
Another comment: They are so well matched.
Further down, Yu Xi also posted on social media, filled with blessings, likes, and compliments.
A classmate praised Ji Ting: Ji Ting’s figure is really great.
Some classmates also praised Ji Ting: Ji Ting is really beautiful. No wonder Tan Yucheng likes her and has had a secret crush for years. I’m dying of laughter.
Others said: Ji Ting must have had a lot of admirers.
Yu Xi replied: A lot indeed, but with Tan Yucheng watching, who would dare pursue her?
Others responded with laughing emojis.

After the proposal was successful, both families came together to start arranging the marriage certificate, wedding photos, and the wedding ceremony. As for the bride price, Tan Yucheng gave Ji Ting two properties under his name, and Ji Ting gave him a very expensive new car in return. Xiao Xi secretly arranged a lot of things, both visible and behind the scenes. Ji Ting only knew that Qiu Dan and Xiao Xi had discussed the betrothal gift for a long time.
The main issue was pushing back and forth.
Ji Ting had always known her parents had some money, but through this process, she realized they had more than she thought. After running the supermarket for so many years and with Qiu Dan’s good financial management, they had accumulated quite a bit.
While their parents continued their back-and-forth,
Ji Ting and Tan Yucheng then set off to take wedding photos.
They also went to Hong Kong for a few sets of photos and later to Lover’s Sea, where the photos were bolder, capturing from sunrise to sunset.
On the day they finished a set of photos in a red split skirt and returned to the RV (Recreational vehicle) to rest, Tan Yucheng pulled her into his embrace and kissed her, pressing her against the wall of the vehicle.
The temperature inside the RV rose, and her eyes misted over. Tan Yucheng held her by the back of her head as they kissed. Her once orderly dress became messy, and occasionally people walked past outside the RV. Ji Ting heard the faint footsteps, held onto his neck nervously, and Tan Yucheng’s Adam’s apple bobbed, beads of sweat rolling down.
He whispered in her ear, “Don’t worry, the door is locked.”
Ji Ting opened her eyes and gazed at him, biting his lip.
He smiled and tightened his hold around her waist.
Slowly, he continued to kiss her.
After a long time.
There was a knock on the door.
But then it quieted down again. Outside, the sky had darkened, and the lights of the small seaside shop came on. Tan Yucheng carried the trembling Ji Ting into the bathroom of the RV.
Ji Ting glared at him.
Tan Yucheng leaned against the frosted glass and whispered in her ear, “I just couldn’t resist those photos today.”
He kissed the space between her eyebrows.
Ji Ting lightly kicked him.
He chuckled.
Someone called out again from outside, and this time the phone vibrated. Tan Yucheng set aside a casual dress for Ji Ting and closed the bathroom door. He then changed into fresh clothes and went outside. The bathroom had a bathtub, and Ji Ting, exhausted from earlier, soaked in the tub for a long time. She knew that the photos taken today were quite daring, with the skirt in the sea almost clinging to her body.
Tan Yucheng’s shirt also clung to his chest and abs, and he had posed in many different ways, each touch revealing more.
In the afternoon, her red suspender dress had a slit that exposed her long legs, making it quite eye-catching.
After finishing her bath, Ji Ting, not knowing when, finally got up, dried herself, and changed into a light-colored dress. She dried her hair a bit and opened the car door. Outside, at the seaside shop, everyone was sitting there chatting, drinking, and having barbecue.
They were all part of the shooting team.
Ji Ting walked over. Tan Yucheng, holding a toothpick in his mouth, was chatting with someone while leaning against his chair. When Ji Ting reached his side, he pulled out a chair for her to sit.
Ji Ting picked up a beer and drank.
Tan Yucheng brought her a few skewers of beef. In his black shirt, his tattoos were faintly visible. Ji Ting leaned closer and said, “I’m a bit hungry.”
That wasn’t enough.
Tan Yucheng raised an eyebrow and asked the shopkeeper to make a portion of fried noodles. He also took her hand and asked, “Do you want salad? I’ll ask the shopkeeper to prepare it as well.”
Ji Ting nodded.
Tan Yucheng then called the shopkeeper and ordered a vegetable salad.
When the noodles arrived, Ji Ting ate while Tan Yucheng leaned against his chair and continued chatting with others. The entire filming crew had been hired exclusively for the day, following Ji Ting and Tan Yucheng for the shoot.
Ji Ting, looking beautiful after her bath with her hair down, ate with chopsticks.
Fu Yan and Wen Nanxi returned after strolling around. For the wedding dress shoot at Lover’s Sea, Fu Yan had brought Wen Nanxi along for some fun. They settled at a table, and Ji Ting reached out to Wen Nanxi, asking, “Would you like some noodles?”
Wen Nanxi smiled and replied, “Sure, one bowl.”
Ji Ting got an empty bowl and served her a portion. Wen Nanxi took it and started eating, commenting, “It’s quite fragrant.”
Ji Ting smiled and said, “It’s not easy to find such delicious fried noodles at a tourist spot like this.”
Wen Nanxi nodded with a smile.
Noticing Ji Ting’s jade-like skin, Wen Nanxi thought about how Fu Yan had called Tan Yucheng earlier to see if they wanted to go for a walk later, but Tan Yucheng didn’t answer. Wen Nanxi cleared her throat and continued eating.
After finishing the noodles and salad, a few tourists started dancing in the back. The shop owner’s wife led the way. Seeing them lost in conversation, Ji Ting pulled Wen Nanxi up to dance. Wen Nanxi, feeling shy, whispered, “I don’t know how to dance.”
Ji Ting leaned in and said, “Just move around, don’t be too restrained.”
Wen Nanxi blinked.
Ji Ting guided her gently in a slow dance. Although Ji Ting wasn’t an expert herself, she led Wen Nanxi with ease. Since Wen Nanxi had just returned from a trip after giving birth, and Fu Yan wanted her to relax, Wen Nanxi stopped worrying about whether she could dance and followed Ji Ting’s steps. The two of them laughed and danced, their skirts intertwining.
They were so absorbed in dancing.
Tan Yucheng and Fu Yan stood up, leaning against their chairs and watching the two women dance in the dance area. Fu Yan asked Tan Yucheng, “When is the wedding scheduled?”
Tan Yucheng, hands in his pockets, replied nonchalantly, “On her birthday.”
Fu Yan’s voice was clear, “Sounds good.”
As Ji Ting danced, the shop owner’s wife handed her a drink, which she and Wen Nanxi toasted together. Fu Yan, seeing Wen Nanxi in this state, felt reassured.
Ji Ting, holding her drink, turned and saw Tan Yucheng chatting nearby. She walked up to him, throwing herself into his arms. Tan Yucheng wrapped his arms around her and looked down at her. Ji Ting smiled and asked, “Want to dance?”
Tan Yucheng, with one arm around her waist and the other holding her drink, looked at it and chuckled, “Who told you to drink this?”
Ji Ting, a bit tipsy, blinked and asked, “What drink?”
Tan Yucheng handed the drink to someone else. “Vodka.”
He looked at Fu Yan, “Go rescue your wife.”
Fu Yan quickly moved to help Wen Nanxi, who was also already drunk. Ji Ting wrapped her arms around Tan Yucheng’s neck and asked, “Want a drink?”
Tan Yucheng replied, “I’m not drinking.”
Ji Ting thought for a moment and asked, “Then, do you want to dance?”
Tan Yucheng looked at her, “I don’t know how to dance.”
Ji Ting pouted, “You don’t know how to do anything.”
Tan Yucheng buried his face in her neck and asked softly, “Don’t know how to do anything? Are you sure?”
Ji Ting felt a tickle on her neck and turned her head to look at him. She was soft and disoriented, but she could smell his pleasant scent. She sniffed and rubbed against him like an animal.
Tan Yucheng raised his eyebrows, allowing her to nuzzle against him.
Ji Ting looked up and traced his eyebrows with her fingertips, saying, “You’re quite handsome.”
Tan Yucheng smiled slightly, “Thank you for the compliment.”
Ji Ting hugged his neck tightly and touched his tattoo with her fingertips.
Tan Yucheng let her touch it, and Ji Ting asked, “What does this tattoo say?”
Tan Yucheng lazily replied, “It’s your name.”
Ji Ting blinked and said, “I know.”
Tan Yucheng chuckled, “Then why do you ask?”
Ji Ting’s tone was a bit coquettish as she replied, “Just asking.”
Tan Yucheng found her current state so endearing. Although she had been drunk before, she had retained some awareness. This time, she seemed completely intoxicated, and her chatter had increased. Ji Ting was about to ask something else but ended up blinking and touching his forehead. She softly said, “We’re getting married.”
Tan Yucheng’s voice was very low, “Yes, soon.”
Ji Ting blinked and smiled, resting her head on his shoulder. After a few minutes, Tan Yucheng realized her breathing had become shallow and she had fallen asleep. He lifted her and carried her into the RV.
This wedding photo trip had taken them through Hong Kong and then to Li City before heading to a spring-like place. The one-month journey was nearing its end, with their return planned for tomorrow.
Tonight, however, she was drunk.
Tan Yucheng tidied up the RV and sat by the bed, looking down at her.
He wore a simple ring on his finger, which matched the “Love Crown” ring Ji Ting had.
