Let Me Go, I’m Not Pregnant - Chapter 22
“Qin Young Master?”
Luo Shen looked at the two men in confusion and asked softly, “Qin Young Master is…”
“He’s the younger brother of Governor Qin, Young Master Qin Cheng,” one of the servants explained. They gestured for Luo Shen to follow them. In the distance, there was a small building, and a distinguished-looking man on the upper floor was gazing at him.
Luo Shen’s heart skipped a beat. Had he been discovered?
He tried to find Gu Xingzhi, but the two servants blocked his view resolutely, not allowing him to take a single step.
Luo Shen had no choice but to step back a little, putting some distance between himself and them. He whispered, “I… I don’t want to go.”
“Miss, it’s just a simple conversation,” one of the servants said, well-acquainted with this kind of reaction. Many young ladies had initially resisted but eventually succumbed once they heard about Governor Qin’s high status.
The servant snorted, “Miss, don’t reject Governor Qin’s face.”
As he finished speaking, a sudden gust of wind swept through, and his wrist was abruptly grabbed, pulling him in another direction.
Luo Shen was involuntarily pulled behind, his arm wrapped around a slender waist. His fingers tingled as he looked up and saw a sharply defined jawline.
Gu Xingzhi pressed him against his chest and asked coldly, “What are you trying to do?”
The two servants were affected by Gu Xingzhi’s imposing presence, but they remembered Qin Cheng’s orders and the influence of the Qin family. They raised their heads defiantly and said, “We just wanted to have a chat with this lady. Who are you to stop us?”
Gu Xingzhi’s gaze swept over the two men, and their confidence wavered. But they still remembered their orders from Qin Cheng and the power of the Qin family.
“May I ask which family you belong to?” Gu Xingzhi inquired.
Before they could reply, their clothes were suddenly yanked from behind, and someone whispered, “Qin Cheng, the younger brother of Qin Huang.”
Gu Xingzhi’s tone shifted, “Dare you take away my sister casually?”
Luo Shen: “???”
What on earth was going on?
Sister?
The two men relaxed when they heard Gu Xingzhi’s words. “So it’s Brother Qin Cheng. Young Master, you don’t need to worry. We’re from Governor Qin’s family. If you’re concerned about any issues, you can accompany us.”
Luo Shen pinched the waist he was holding and was about to step forward when Gu Xingzhi suddenly turned back and pressed his shoulder. “Sister, listen to your brother. Qin Cheng is the most powerful figure in the city. He’s hosting a wedding banquet tonight, and if you go, you’ll meet many nobles and aristocrats. Don’t you want to?”
Luo Shen stared wide-eyed. “Gu Xingzhi, you…”
Gu Xingzhi: “Since we’re here, let’s just go with the flow.”
Luo Shen: “???”
Go with the flow?
The two men heard Gu Xingzhi’s words and relaxed. “Since you’re here, we’ll be on our way. Please follow us, Young Master.”
Luo Shen couldn’t hold back anymore and pinched Gu Xingzhi’s waist harder.
Gu Xingzhi: “Ouch.”
Luo Shen mumbled, “That’s for messing with me.”
Gu Xingzhi rubbed his waist and smiled. “I’m doing this to protect you, sister.”
Luo Shen rolled his eyes, feeling that he was helpless in this situation.
The two servants led the way, and Gu Xingzhi held Luo Shen’s hand as they followed.
The two men approached with smiles, but before they could get a good look at Luo Shen’s face, he had already hidden behind Gu Xingzhi.
“Sister is shy, please lead the way.”
“All right.” They had initially considered asking Luo Shen to remove her veil, but after hearing their words, they understood the intention—to reveal her breathtaking beauty in front of Qin Cheng. They would amaze him.
They returned to the restaurant, and the two men led Luo Shen and Gu Xingzhi upstairs. Facing the man who was watching the fireworks on the balcony, they said, “Young Master, the lady is here.”
Qin Cheng turned around and smiled, “Who is this…”
“I am Gu Xingzhi, her brother,” Gu Xingzhi replied. “May I ask, Young Master Qin, what business do you have with my sister?”
Qin Cheng looked at the person still hiding behind Gu Xingzhi, showing only a ponytail, and smiled as he waved off his attendants. Leaning on the railing with a paper fan, he said, “Naturally, it’s because I was captivated by the young lady and wanted to have a moonlit conversation.”
Gu Xingzhi shook his head. “My sister has not removed her veil. How can you be captivated by her at first sight?”
Qin Cheng’s gaze remained on Luo Shen, and he casually replied, “I didn’t say I liked beautiful women. I’m simply interested.”
Gu Xingzhi: “…”
Luo Shen: “…”
While the two servants didn’t mind bringing the young lady’s brother along, Qin Cheng started to get impatient. “My brother is Governor Qin. You should know that. Hand your sister over to me, and tomorrow, I will send her back with payment.”
Luo Shen’s eyes turned cold, and the man noticed a dangerous glint in his gaze. He looked at Luo Shen again and laughed, “Your sister is timid and has a fiery temper, it seems?”
Gu Xingzhi shook his head.
Qin Cheng chuckled, raised his chin to indicate the fierce-looking man behind him, and said, “Is her temper not fiery?”
Gu Xingzhi still shook his head. “What I meant was—”
He drew a slender dagger from his waist. “My temper can be even fiercer.”
As he finished speaking, he lunged forward with a sword strike. However, Qin Cheng was no ordinary opponent. He effortlessly evaded Gu Xingzhi’s attacks, dodging the strikes as he continued to harass Luo Shen.
Luo Shen had initially stood in the center of the room but had moved to the side, creating space for them since Qin Cheng had been constantly bothering him. However, Qin Cheng seemed to have expected this. He trapped Luo Shen in a corner, raising his hand to lift her veil.
Luo Shen froze, instinctively gripping the dagger hidden in his palm, ready to strike.
In the blink of an eye, Gu Xingzhi’s sword struck the wall between them, then curved to press against Qin Cheng’s neck. This audacious young master, who hadn’t taken Gu Xingzhi seriously, broke into a cold sweat on his forehead.
“Excellent skills, Young Master Qin,” Gu Xingzhi remarked. His graceful and shadow-like footwork had even left Gu Xingzhi struggling to keep up.
But Qin Cheng, too focused on Luo Shen, had allowed Gu Xingzhi to catch up to him so quickly.
“However, when someone is attempting an assassination, please try not to be distracted.”
Qin Cheng’s cold sweat on his forehead dripped down to his collarbone. He looked at the soft sword reflecting his own face, almost unable to believe it. “How did you…”
His martial arts skills were more than enough to deal with commoners, but he considered himself like a fish in water—untouchable. Who would have thought that this person’s swordsmanship was as fluid as water itself?
Wait.
“Assassination?” Qin Cheng suddenly realized, looking at Luo Shen in shock.
Luo Shen put away the dagger, removed the veil, and smiled. “I’m a man.”
Qin Cheng: “…”
His eyes widened in disbelief.
Yes, yes, yes, yes… a man?
Gu Xingzhi glanced around and frowned. “Put the veil back on.”
Luo Shen: “…”
He didn’t understand. “Why?”
Why did he have to wear the veil again?
But Gu Xingzhi looked serious, his eyes filled with the message “Put it back on or I’ll send you back.” Luo Shen relented and silently put the veil back on.
“So, what should we do with this person?” Luo Shen turned his head to look at Qin Cheng, but saw him in a bizarre state, his face blushing again. He suddenly felt a bit threatened.
Quietly, he moved back behind Gu Xingzhi.
Gu Xingzhi cleared his throat and pressed the sword’s edge against Qin Cheng’s skin, causing a small amount of blood to trickle from his neck.
Qin Cheng quickly withdrew his gaze, wincing. “You, you, you, be gentler! You’ll leave a scar!”
“Do you want to save your life?” Gu Xingzhi replied, not easing the pressure, allowing a bit of blood to stain the soft sword.
Qin Cheng hastily said, “Of course! Of course!” He hadn’t reached the point where he’d sacrifice his life for this. Otherwise, he would have learned more than just the butterfly steps.
“I’ve heard that Governor Qin is hosting a banquet. Let us infiltrate it, and you will ensure our safe departure. Otherwise, your life won’t be guaranteed.”
While speaking, Gu Xingzhi handed a vial of medicine to Luo Shen, instructing him to give it to Qin Cheng.
Luo Shen poured out two pills from the vial and approached Qin Cheng. “Listen carefully. These are Death’s Kiss pills. If you don’t get the antidote within an hour, you’ll die for sure. The antidote isn’t on us, but only we know where it is. If you don’t cooperate with us, you’ll only have death to look forward to!”
Qin Cheng: “!!!”
He was astonished. “Such a deadly poison exists in this world?”
Gu Xingzhi: “…”
Qin Cheng looked helplessly at Luo Shen, wondering if this Emperor had read too many novels.
Luo Shen nodded firmly, took out two pills, and walked over to Qin Cheng, adopting a fierce expression. “Do you want to take them yourself or have us feed you?”
Qin Cheng stared at the pills, thought for a few seconds, and closed his eyes. “Death awaits me on both sides, so I’ll naturally…”
He opened his eyes again, gazing at Luo Shen. “I’ll take them myself unless the beautiful person here wants to feed me.”
With a sigh, Qin Cheng opened his mouth, looking expectantly at Luo Shen.
Luo Shen: “…”
He reluctantly tossed the pills into Qin Cheng’s mouth.
Inadvertently, they hit the back of his throat, and Qin Cheng choked for a moment before swallowing them.
As the pills traveled down his throat, Qin Cheng’s expression darkened. He looked at Luo Shen despairingly. “You are truly ruthless.”
Luo Shen shivered. “Shut up!”
Gu Xingzhi sheathed his sword, and Qin Cheng’s legs gave way, causing him to sit on the ground.
An hour from now, even if he got the bottle of poison, he wouldn’t be able to produce the antidote in such a short time. He hadn’t expected this seemingly clumsy man to accidentally hit the mark and force-fed him the pills. Otherwise, he could have pretended to take them and tricked them into thinking he was incapacitated.
Qin Cheng’s eyes flickered, and he stood up from the ground. “So, what do you two want at the banquet? What’s your purpose?”
“Don’t worry, we won’t take lives,” Gu Xingzhi replied without revealing their plan. He nodded toward the door. “Lead the way, Qin Cheng.”
Qin Cheng: “…”
His eyes filled with hidden hostility. This tall man appeared challenging to deal with, and his martial arts surpassed his own. He couldn’t afford to act recklessly. However, the shorter beautiful man might be their weak point.
Qin Cheng suggested, “You know, I had my servants bring you here because I was interested in the beautiful person. If I leave without taking him along, it might raise suspicions.”
“What do you propose?”
“I need to leave with the beautiful person on my shoulder.”
Gu Xingzhi looked at Luo Shen.
Luo Shen: “…”
He thought to himself that Qin Cheng had quite the audacity.
However, Luo Shen wasn’t oblivious to the situation. He knew that this would be the least conspicuous option.
Reluctantly, he stepped forward, internally cursing Gu Xingzhi for making him cross-dress. He had to get back at him for this.
Afterward, he glanced around and realized the issue.
“This… how should I…?” He stared at the top of Qin Cheng’s head and then at his shoulder. “How do we do this?”
Qin Cheng: “…”
He took a deep breath, and his chest heaved up and down.
Why did he cross-dress and still end up being taller? This was absurd!
After a moment, the doors swung open, and outside, his servants stood at attention. Qin Cheng carried the veiled woman and walked past them. Behind him trailed Gu Xingzhi, whose eyes seemed to hold some hidden intent.
The two servants chuckled softly.
One of them said, “Look at him, trying to compensate for his losses by switching his sister for wealth?”
The other one wrinkled his face. “But why do I feel like… our lord is having trouble? Carrying the lady doesn’t seem easy.”
The two exchanged a glance, suddenly realizing something, and their expressions turned fearful.
“Our lord… is impotent?”
