Let Me Go, I’m Not Pregnant - Chapter 25
“Your Majesty!”
Qin Feng stood there in a daze for a moment but couldn’t hold back any longer.
He wasn’t initially responsible for looking after the Emperor. It was almost dark when Chang’an suddenly called him out, telling him to follow Luo Shen.
So Qin Feng had been searching for them and had finally found them outside the Qin Residence.
But what he saw now…
They hadn’t taken any further actions, so he hadn’t interrupted anything, right?
Qin Feng stepped out from the darkness to stand before the two.
“Your Majesty, I’m here at the command of Minister Chang’an to protect you.”
Both Luo Shen and Gu Xingzhi immediately snapped out of their trance.
Luo Shen quickly pushed Gu Xingzhi away. Cool night air blew across his face, but his cheeks felt hot.
Gu Xingzhi coughed lightly, putting one hand near his mouth, “Ahem. Since the guards are here, Your Majesty…”
Luo Shen didn’t respond, a bit embarrassed by the situation. Instead, he turned to Qin Feng.
Luo Shen called out, “Qin Feng, take Prince Qin and send him to the outskirts of the city. Find an old abandoned house to detain him. Then, send a letter to the Qin Residence, informing them that they can pay a ransom.”
Gu Xingzhi raised an eyebrow but didn’t say anything.
Qin Feng remained calm and efficient, nodding in acknowledgment.
Luo Shen added, “And be sure to send Prince Qin back after we finish our banquet in two days. Take the money as soon as possible, transfer it to the imperial treasury, and then send him out to sea for half a month to give him a taste of hardship.”
Gu Xingzhi remained speechless.
Qin Feng also kept his composure, simply answering, “Understood.”
After issuing these instructions, Emperor Luoshen felt a sudden relief.
He could replenish the imperial treasury and take revenge, a brilliant plan that only a genius like him could devise!
Overjoyed, he waved his hand to send Qin Feng on his way to execute the orders.
Qin Feng acknowledged the orders and was about to depart. Just as he turned to leave, he remembered something and said, “Your Majesty, Miss Zhao has been searching for you since nightfall.”
Gu Xingzhi’s brows furrowed nearby.
Luoshen’s face twitched slightly, and he quickly urged Qin Feng, “What are you waiting for? Go find her!”
“Understood,” Qin Feng replied before leaving.
Luoshen was now feeling a mix of emotions. His quick thinking had allowed him to devise a plan to enrich the treasury and take revenge.
As he turned to Gu Xingzhi, he noticed his deep frown and felt a sense of impending trouble.
Luoshen quickly regretted his decision and urged Qin Feng to leave as soon as possible.
Qin Feng left promptly, leaving Luoshen to let out a sigh of relief. However, he turned to find Gu Xingzhi’s piercing gaze locked on him.
Feeling slightly unnerved, Luoshen took a step back. “Gu… Gu Xingzhi, why are you staring at me like that?”
Gu Xingzhi pondered for a moment and finally spoke, “Your Majesty, I must advise you, even though it may be unpleasant to hear, not to indulge in your desires. Overindulgence can harm your health.”
Luoshen’s temples throbbed with anger.
Who was he talking about?
Gu Xingzhi continued, “If you choose to persist, I won’t interfere, but please remember to maintain the dignity of an emperor. You shouldn’t let a woman manipulate you.”
If it were to get out that during his reign, the Emperor had returned to the palace dressed as a woman, it would be a disgrace.
Luoshen’s heart ached. So what…
Or just let Changxin cut him.
–
As the sky was slowly brightening, Luoshen had changed his clothes and returned to the palace. However, when he entered the room, he was greeted by the sight of duck bones scattered all over the floor. The small bed he had ordered to be brought in was now bulging, indicating that someone was lying on it.
Luoshen’s head began to ache.
Approaching the bed, he found Changxin asleep, with flushed cheeks and a greasy stain on her lips. She still held the longsword in her arms. Taking a closer look, he realized that she hadn’t even removed her shoes, which were dirty from being outside the palace.
Luoshen approached her and gently called, “Changxin?”
Changxin, deeply asleep, furrowed her brows irritably and mumbled, “Took the Emperor away… Death sentence!”
Luoshen was speechless.
He called her name again.
Changxin, still half-asleep, grumbled, “I… won’t let you go, give him back!”
She rolled over in bed, her hand loosening its grip on the sword. Luoshen noticed the calluses on her palm as he watched her. He let out a soft sigh.
Reaching out to take the sword from Changxin’s hand, he accidentally touched it, causing Changxin to suddenly wake up. She swiftly sat up, pointing the sword at Luoshen’s neck.
Luoshen was stunned.
At that moment, Chang’an rushed back, terrified by what he had witnessed. He exclaimed in shock, “Changxin!”
Changxin’s sharp eyes showed no sign of change, with no reflection of Luoshen’s face. However, upon hearing Chang’an’s voice, a hint of confusion appeared in her eyes.
“Changxin!” Chang’an rushed to their side, hesitating as he approached the two of them, fearing to startle Changxin with the drawn sword. He tried to explain, “Changxin! It’s the Emperor!”
Changxin’s eyes struggled slightly, and she slowly regained clarity. After recognizing the person in front of her, she quickly sheathed her sword and slid off the bed, kneeling on the floor. “I am guilty!”
“Never mind, never mind.” Luoshen realized that this was just a natural response, given the nature of the mission his agents were trained for. He considered it his own negligence that had led to this awkward situation, and thus, he decided not to punish her.
However, he had another thought.
“Did you enjoy the roast duck last night?”
Changxin paused for a moment, stuck out her tongue to lick her lips, and replied with a nostalgic expression, “it wasn’t bad.”
“Then, are you still angry with me?” Luoshen inquired.
Changxin stared at her sword, feeling somewhat embarrassed. She shook her head.
“Good.” Luoshen took an item from his robe and handed it to her. “I didn’t just go out for fun last night. I bought something for you. Have a look and see if you like it.”
Changxin took the item, opened it, and found a compact powder box. She examined it for a while, then asked with confusion, “How do you eat this?”
Luoshen: “???”
Chang’an: “…”
Luoshen sighed and suggested, “Well, I can arrange for you to attend a women’s class.”
However, Changxin was still in a daze. She had never clearly realized that she was a girl. Luoshen had known Changxin for many years, and it seemed like… she really, perhaps… maybe…
Changxin had never really understood that she was a girl.
If this continued, Luoshen was worried that she might never get married.
He tapped his forehead and thought of the classes that were organized within the palace for the palace maids, where they were taught embroidery, etiquette, and other feminine skills. But he also knew that he didn’t want to restrict Changxin with too many rules and regulations.
Perhaps it was time to consider options outside the palace?
He continued walking for a long time and was about to pass by Gu Xingzhi’s courtyard. However, he suddenly halted his steps and turned around to leave.
A voice sounded from behind him.
“Your Majesty, please stay.”
