Let Me Go, I’m Not Pregnant - Chapter 35
Gu Xingzhi panicked and quickly called out, “Turn around, head to the medical school!”
However, Luo Shen grabbed his arm and shook his head vigorously.
After vomiting for a while, he finally stopped. Seeing that Luo Shen was determined not to go, Gu Xingzhi had to order the sedan chair to be stopped and handed Luo Shen a cup of water.
Luo Shen rinsed his mouth, took a deep breath, and hoarsely said, “It’s just a stomach issue.”
Gu Xingzhi was puzzled, “How could Your Majesty suddenly have a stomach issue? Did the palace staff not take good care of you?”
Luo Shen shook his head. He had felt pain in the morning and had just vomited severely. He hadn’t eaten all day and was extremely weak, unable to respond.
But seeing Luo Shen’s face and recalling his abnormal behavior upon returning yesterday, Gu Xingzhi seemed to understand.
“Could it be that while I was away, you didn’t eat properly, Ah Shen?”
Suddenly being addressed by his name, Luo Shen’s ears turned red. He marveled at Gu Xingzhi’s astute guess and nodded.
“I will always stay by your side from now on, never leaving you.” Gu Xingzhi sighed, reaching out to gently ruffle Luo Shen’s soft hair.
Luo Shen looked up, seeing his gentle eyes, and asked, “No matter what happens?”
“Of course.”
“By the way, Ah Shen, aren’t you hungry?” Gu Xingzhi had eaten a little when he returned to the Gu residence at noon, but seeing Luo Shen’s condition, it seemed he hadn’t eaten at all.
Luo Shen then remembered and shook his head.
Having vomited so much, he didn’t feel like eating.
“There’s nothing good to eat in the barracks. Wait here for a moment, I’ll go buy some food.” Gu Xingzhi said, quickly jumping out of the carriage.
In no time, he returned with a large pile of food, ordered the coachman to continue driving, and entered the carriage again.
He laid out the food on the table, spreading out an entire feast.
The aroma made Luo Shen’s throat tighten. “So much, how did you buy it so quickly?”
“I scouted out the good eateries around when I returned to the capital. I’ve already mapped out the area.” He took out a bowl of rice porridge wrapped in oiled paper, unwrapped it, and placed a packet of pickled radishes beside it. “Be careful with the radishes, they’re sour but very appetizing.”
“……”
So he really did skip reporting in and went out to have fun while pretending to be sick!
Luo Shen glared at him in reproach.
Gu Xingzhi chuckled sheepishly, raising three fingers. “If I had known the Emperor had such good taste, I wouldn’t have pretended to be sick!”
Luo Shen didn’t believe him, snorting as he picked up a piece of the radish and put it in his mouth, immediately wincing from the sourness. Gu Xingzhi quickly fetched water, but when he returned, he saw Luo Shen eating another piece. “It does taste good.”
Gu Xingzhi sighed in relief and unwrapped the rest of the food.
Perhaps the pickled radishes balanced the meat’s flavor; Luo Shen didn’t feel nauseous again and ate heartily with Gu Xingzhi.
When they reached the barracks, Gu Xingzhi settled Luo Shen in the observation tower and went to the training grounds to lead the soldiers.
Although officially a civil official, Gu Xingzhi still held military power, and the soldiers there were under his command.
As someone who had led large armies, seeing these inexperienced soldiers made him frown. He turned to the instructor and said, “Increase their training. Make them run twenty more laps and then do combat exercises.”
After speaking, he glanced up at Luo Shen.
The instructor also looked over and, seeing Luo Shen smiling at him, shivered and quickly complied.
Luo Shen had no idea what they were talking about. Sitting high up, he could only see hundreds or thousands of muscular soldiers running.
With nothing to do, he poured himself some water and secretly took out a piece of pickled radish to nibble on.
As he watched, he got lost in thought, unable to find Gu Xingzhi. Luo Shen thought he might have joined the soldiers and looked carefully among the muscular men.
Unaware, Gu Xingzhi had quietly approached him from behind, his teeth on edge as he stared at the back of Luo Shen’s head.
Luo Shen, confused, watched the soldiers, not realizing the cough he heard behind him was from Gu Xingzhi. Thinking it was a weak soldier, he ignored it and decided to go down for a better view.
A subordinate quickly approached, “Your Majesty, it’s dangerous below. Please watch from here.”
Luo Shen shook his head, “I can’t see anything clearly from up here. I’ll be careful.”
Someone behind him took a deep breath.
The subordinate wiped his sweat and said, “Your Majesty, it’s very dangerous down there.”
Luo Shen smiled and said, “No problem. By the way, are you not feeling well? Otherwise, why not take off your clothes and practice with them?”
Subordinate: “…”
Gu Xingzhi couldn’t listen any longer. He took a step forward and signaled to the subordinate with his eyes.
The subordinate immediately disappeared.
Luo Shen blinked in confusion and turned his head, realizing the person was right behind him. “What are you doing here?”
Gu Xingzhi stood two steps higher than him. The sunlight behind him cast a white glow, making it hard to see his expression.
“Your Majesty, do you find them good-looking?”
Luo Shen didn’t realize he was upset and thought he was seeking approval, so he nodded. “Indeed, not bad!”
Gu Xingzhi’s face darkened, and he ground his teeth. “Does Your Majesty want a closer look?”
Luo Shen finally detected the sarcasm in his words and quickly shook his head. “I couldn’t find you, so I thought you might be down there.”
Gu Xingzhi looked into his eyes, which were bright, innocent, and sincere. His heart was struck again, but then he remembered Luo Shen’s earlier praise of those below, and his face darkened again. “Your Majesty, although they are good-looking, it’s dangerous down there. You should watch from above.”
Luo Shen: “…”
He understood now. He was just looking for Gu Xingzhi, but Gu Xingzhi thought he was looking at someone else!
He felt wronged and angry. He turned and walked back to the viewing platform, ignoring Gu Xingzhi.
Gu Xingzhi was momentarily stunned, just about to step forward when a subordinate ran up, saying someone wanted to challenge him. He glanced at Luo Shen, who had started eating snacks, and decided to let him think things over.
Gu Xingzhi’s combat experience surpassed everyone else present, so he easily defeated a large group without breaking a sweat.
He picked out all the troublemakers, beat them into submission, and made them run twenty more laps.
After spending most of the day doing this, Gu Xingzhi thought Luo Shen’s attention would finally be on him.
These small fry, how could they compare to his physique?
Or his looks?
He returned to the viewing platform, ready to hear praise, but Luo Shen ignored him.
“Your Majesty?”
Luo Shen was reading a military book, pretending not to hear.
“A Shen?” Gu Xingzhi’s voice trembled lightly.
Luo Shen drank some water, still pretending not to hear.
“A Shen, Shen Shen?” He continued calling. The surrounding people had already retreated, leaving only the two of them on the viewing platform, but Luo Shen still ignored him.
He turned a page and continued drinking water.
“Your Majesty, shall I take you down to see?”
Luo Shen still ignored him. He was about to drink more water but found the cup empty, so he got up to refill it.
Gu Xingzhi took a step forward and accidentally stepped on Luo Shen’s hem. Luo Shen stumbled, and his wrist was grabbed, pulling him into Gu Xingzhi’s arms.
Luo Shen was startled and quickly tried to push him away, but Gu Xingzhi held him tightly. “Your Majesty, please forgive me.”
Luo Shen angrily said, “Forgive you for what!”
“I know I was wrong, Your Majesty,” Gu Xingzhi felt the person in his arms struggling, which he found adorable. “Your Majesty, I was jealous.”
Luo Shen: “…”
His ears turned red, and he glanced around nervously, afraid someone might hear. He retorted, “What do you have to be jealous of?”
They’re all men, after all.
“But Your Majesty had others in his eyes, and I was just jealous.” Gu Xingzhi, having finally gotten Luo Shen, was naturally possessive. “Your Majesty, you are admired by many.”
Luo Shen stared blankly at the fabric on Gu Xingzhi’s shoulder.
Admired by many?
Though he was a prince and favored since childhood, there weren’t many who genuinely liked him.
Luo Shen let himself be held, lost in thought. When he came back to his senses, he remembered they were on the viewing platform and hurriedly tried to pull away. “Someone might see us!”
Gu Xingzhi said, “It’s fine. People below can’t see here. They’d just think I’m blocking your view. Besides, they were just punished to run twenty laps.”
Luo Shen: “…”
He glared at Gu Xingzhi accusingly. “Shameless!”
Gu Xingzhi just laughed and leaned in to kiss his lips. “If Your Majesty tells me to stop, I’ll stop.”
Luo Shen: “…”
That’s not what he meant!
His eyes widened, but the other man was already moving in.
Their lips and tongues intertwined, and the spark from the previous night reignited instantly. Having tasted the pleasure, Gu Xingzhi couldn’t help but hold Luo Shen tighter, though mindful of his delicate health, he only pulled him closer.
Luo Shen had no chance to refuse, and soon he was kissed until he was dizzy and weak-kneed.
After a long while, they separated, with Luo Shen leaning softly against Gu Xingzhi’s shoulder, face flushed and breathing heavily. He felt a dull pain in his lower abdomen and bit his lip, asking Gu Xingzhi to help him over.
Gu Xingzhi carefully assisted him to a seat and went to pour him another cup of water.
Luo Shen picked up the military book he hadn’t finished reading earlier, his face still red as he looked around, hoping no one had noticed what had just happened.
Everything on the training ground below seemed normal.
The nearby patrolling soldiers hadn’t come over.
The child responsible for picking up trash was busy.
Luo Shen let out a sigh of relief and was about to look away when he inadvertently met an inquisitive gaze.
He jumped to his feet.
Opposite him, General Gu was walking over with a dark expression.
Luo Shen’s heart pounded, and the romantic atmosphere dissipated completely.
General Gu approached and saluted, “Your Majesty, please return to the palace. I need to speak with my son.”
Luo Shen knew something was wrong and whispered, “General Gu, this matter—”
“Your Majesty.” General Gu looked up, his eyes not angry but unsettling, “I promised the late emperor to take good care of Your Majesty. I feel deeply ashamed of what my son has done to you. Please, return to the palace.”
Luo Shen’s face turned pale.
He glanced back at Gu Xingzhi, who was still busy and hadn’t noticed what was happening.
“General Gu, it was my choice—”
“Your Majesty, there’s no need to cover for my son!”
At this point, Luo Shen understood his meaning.
After all, Gu Xingzhi had a promising future and shouldn’t be entangled with him.
Luo Shen clenched his hand. “I will go back. Please tell him for me.”
General Gu lowered his eyes and spoke only after Luo Shen had passed by. “I will send someone to collect his belongings later.”
Luo Shen stopped, gritting his teeth. “General Gu—”
“Your Majesty, please reconsider.” General Gu knelt in public, drawing curious looks from those nearby.
With all eyes on him, Luo Shen swallowed hard, unable to continue. He turned and left in a flurry.
Moments later, Gu Xingzhi returned with the water, only to find the seat empty and General Gu just rising.
He put down the water cup and walked over, sensing something was wrong. His eyes narrowed. “Father, where is His Majesty?”
In response, he received a resounding slap.
