Let Me Go, I’m Not Pregnant - Chapter 61
The kiss was brief, just a light touch. Gu Xingzhi restrained his emotions, helped Luo Shen sit up, and handed over a still-warm medicine bottle from his embrace. “Drink it, it’s good for your throat.”
Luo Shen reached out blankly. Gu Xingzhi held his hand, gently squeezed it, and then placed the bottle in his palm.
The bottle was already open, and the bitter scent of the medicine wafted out. Luo Shen frowned slightly, slowly bringing it to his lips and taking a sip. He immediately remarked, “Bitter!”
It was incredibly bitter. Though warm, it left a cooling sensation as it went down his throat.
Gu Xingzhi said, “Good medicine tastes bitter.”
Luo Shen was reluctant to drink more. “The doctor said I should stick to a medicinal diet, not drink medicine.”
“Be good.”
He had heard what the doctor said, which is why he had the Imperial Hospital specially prepare a new medicine that wouldn’t harm the child. The ingredients were freshly ground, so naturally, it was more bitter.
“After you finish, I’ve brought you some sweets.” Gu Xingzhi gently smoothed the stray hairs from Luo Shen’s forehead.
Luo Shen reluctantly agreed. He held the medicine bottle, took a deep breath, and gulped it down in one go. The sudden coldness made him shiver, and he started coughing.
Gu Xingzhi quickly helped him breathe more easily. When Luo Shen’s coughing subsided, Gu Xingzhi placed a candy in his mouth.
The sweet taste spread across his tongue, dispelling the bitterness. Luo Shen rested his head on Gu Xingzhi’s shoulder, no longer complaining about the bitterness.
“How do you feel?”
“Better… I guess.” After drinking the medicine, for some reason, Luo Shen really felt his throat hurt less. He blinked and realized he couldn’t see Gu Xingzhi’s face. He tugged at Gu Xingzhi’s clothes. “Help me take off the blindfold.”
“I won’t,” Gu Xingzhi refused.
Luo Shen’s eyes widened in surprise. “Why not!”
He couldn’t believe Gu Xingzhi wouldn’t listen!
Gu Xingzhi lowered his eyes, letting his gaze travel from Luo Shen’s lips upward. With those naturally innocent eyes covered, Luo Shen exuded an allure that wasn’t originally his.
Besides, since Luo Shen couldn’t see, he had to rely on Gu Xingzhi for everything.
Gu Xingzhi found this very satisfying.
Luo Shen was speechless, “You’re not being obedient, Xingzhi.”
He threatened, “Does General Gu know how disobedient you’re being?”
Gu Xingzhi nodded, “He knows.”
He had been beaten so many times as a child, of course, he knew.
Luo Shen was at a loss for words. “Then what about Madam Gu…”
“She knows too.” As a child, he was punished to wear women’s clothes every day.
“…”
Luo Shen felt wronged. When he woke up and received that tender kiss, he thought Gu Xingzhi wasn’t angry anymore. But now he found himself stuck in this situation.
He figured that Gu Xingzhi was still mad, maybe even furious. So he took the initiative to fumble for Gu Xingzhi’s face and kissed him.
Gu Xingzhi’s breath hitched.
Luo Shen rarely initiated kisses, mainly because he didn’t know how.
But to make Gu Xingzhi less angry, Luo Shen tried his best, using his limited knowledge, to kiss him earnestly.
His eyes were covered, so he couldn’t see Gu Xingzhi’s expression.
Gu Xingzhi, with one hand on Luo Shen’s waist and the other on his pregnant belly, startled Luo Shen, who tensed up all over. By the time he reacted, he was already laid down on the bed, his lips tingling from the kiss, leaving him in a daze.
Just as Luo Shen was starting to feel lost in the moment, Gu Xingzhi suddenly stopped. He raised his hand to gently wipe the sweat from Luo Shen’s forehead, then straightened up.
Luo Shen was bewildered.
He quietly waited for a while, but hearing nothing from Gu Xingzhi, he couldn’t help but call out, “Xingzhi?”
Gu Xingzhi asked, “Are you thinking about it?”
Luo Shen: “…”
His face instantly turned red. He quickly turned his head away and denied, “No!”
“Considering our current situation and your condition, it really isn’t appropriate.” Gu Xingzhi said, maintaining his composure. Though many unsuitable images flashed through his mind, he wasn’t in a rush.
Luo Shen was stunned.
That’s it?
Perhaps because he couldn’t see, his expression was more transparent. Gu Xingzhi saw it and chuckled, leaning close to Luo Shen’s ear, breathing lightly against the cool earlobe. “Your Majesty, if you come back with me, I’ll take care of everything.”
Luo Shen felt a shiver run through him, and he almost blurted out to continue. But then he caught the meaning in Gu Xingzhi’s words and gritted his teeth. “You know I can’t…”
“I only know that Your Majesty promised me that two months later, you would return to my side.”
In a situation like this, it wouldn’t work.
Hearing this, Luo Shen softened a little. After all, he had indeed promised Gu Xingzhi, so it was natural for him to be upset.
He reached out and pinched Gu Xingzhi’s cheek. “Wait a bit longer, forgive me one more time.”
Gu Xingzhi’s face darkened slightly. “I’ve waited a long time.”
He had always waited, and each time, the news he received was of Luo Shen putting himself in danger.
Looking at Luo Shen’s face, Gu Xingzhi realized that he had been too indulgent.
If he had known, he shouldn’t have let Luo Shen go.
Luo Shen felt a bit cold around him and couldn’t help but shrink back into the covers. But hearing nothing from Gu Xingzhi, he hesitantly asked, “Xingzhi, are you still there?”
Gu Xingzhi snapped out of his thoughts and looked at Luo Shen, responding in a low voice.
“Xingzhi, with you here, how could I get hurt?”
Gu Xingzhi remained silent.
Luo Shen started to panic. “Xingzhi, I promise that after this is over, I’ll listen to you completely.”
Gu Xingzhi still didn’t reply.
Luo Shen pressed his lips together, feeling a bit of pain. He realized that the kiss had been so intense that he had chapped his lips.
He licked his lips, understanding that Gu Xingzhi was just angry, along with a lot of worry.
So, this not-so-clever mind of his came up with a way to please Gu Xingzhi.
“I really know I was wrong. Can I accept a punishment?”
Hearing this, Gu Xingzhi raised an eyebrow. “How does Your Majesty wish to be punished?”
Effective!
Luo Shen breathed a sigh of relief, feeling that the slight chill around him had dissipated. He said, “Xingzhi, think back and recall how many things I’ve done to upset you. List each one out, and I’ll stamp my seal on it. Once we get out and have the child, I’ll give you two months alone to make up for it properly. You can do whatever you want during that time, okay?”
He thought to himself that since Xingzhi cared about him, he wouldn’t make him suffer too much. Even if Xingzhi sought revenge in bed, it wouldn’t be too severe.
After confessing his feelings, Xingzhi had always treated him with gentleness, giving Luo Shen the illusion that Xingzhi was naturally a gentle person.
After a moment of consideration, Xingzhi agreed.
Luo Shen smiled and waved his hand, “Then go write it down, and be quick about it.”
Xingzhi responded and left the room to fetch ink and paper. He then squatted down and started writing each character carefully.
Luo Shen initially thought it would be done quickly, but after waiting and waiting, Xingzhi still hadn’t returned.
He asked, “Are you done writing?”
Hearing the weariness in Luo Shen’s voice, Xingzhi replied, “Your Majesty, go to sleep first. I’m writing slowly.”
Oh, it’s just slow writing.
Luo Shen, feeling drowsy, slowly drifted off to sleep.
When he woke up again, it was already dark outside. Xingzhi brought over some food and helped him sit up.
Luo Shen said, “Take off the blindfold. I can eat by myself.”
But Xingzhi refused, “Your Majesty, I don’t know how to tie the blindfold properly. I’m afraid I won’t be able to put it back, and someone might notice.”
Luo Shen was taken aback, “Are they that cautious?”
Xingzhi nodded, “Exactly.”
Luo Shen, a bit reluctant, said, “Then…”
“I’ll feed you,” Xingzhi said, moving a small table over. He started by feeding Luo Shen a few spoonfuls of porridge, followed by some side dishes and meat.
“The food isn’t great, Your Majesty, please bear with it.”
Luo Shen nodded, “I understand.”
But in truth, he didn’t find the food bad at all. Everything was fresh and delicious.
He was a bit puzzled, “Is Enshu really willing to provide such good food?”
“Of course. They hope your Majesty’s belly grows larger sooner, so how could they skimp on food?”
With Xingzhi around, Luo Shen didn’t feel like thinking too much. He figured that could be the case and agreed.
After finishing most of the meal, he yawned and casually asked, “Xingzhi, how’s the writing going?”
Xingzhi paused in the midst of clearing the dishes, glanced at the three sheets of paper filled with writing on the table, and smiled, “Not finished yet. Your Majesty, let me tidy things up first.”
Luo Shen was speechless.
He started to feel a bit panicked and couldn’t help but ask, “Xingzhi, I haven’t… I haven’t upset you that often, have I?”
Xingzhi just smiled silently and turned to leave the room.
Hearing the door close, Luo Shen grew even more anxious.
He kept thinking about his usual interactions with Xingzhi, and his heart skipped a beat.
It seemed… he really did upset Xingzhi quite often.
So when Xingzhi returned, he found Luo Shen sitting obediently on the bed. The moment Luo Shen sensed Xingzhi’s presence, he immediately looked toward him.
Xingzhi first glanced at the paper and pen on the table, which hadn’t been touched, and then walked to the bedside, asking, “Your Majesty, why are you so full of energy?”
“Of course, I’m… waiting, waiting for you,” Luo Shen replied, putting on a well-behaved and sensible expression as he reached out toward Xingzhi, “Give me a hug.”
Xingzhi bent down to hug him, and Luo Shen immediately pinched his ear in dissatisfaction, “Lift me up.”
Xingzhi obediently lifted him up, but as he adjusted his grip, he noticed something unusual. His breathing became heavier as his gaze fell on Luo Shen’s lips, which were pressed together in embarrassment, tinged with red.
“Your Majesty, you…”
“Xingzhi, can’t you write a little less?” Luo Shen said, struggling to make out the blurry figure in front of him while his hands fumbled to untie Xingzhi’s belt. “Today, could we… start the compensation a bit earlier?”
Xingzhi, still somewhat rational, replied, “Your Majesty, it might be noticed.”
Luo Shen was more afraid of Xingzhi’s future punishment than of being discovered by Enshu. He continued to struggle with Xingzhi’s clothes, his movements becoming more of a tug due to his inability to see. “You wouldn’t let me be discovered.”
He was certain Xingzhi had locked the door when he came in.
Xingzhi’s breathing deepened once again. “Your Majesty, which incident would you like to make up for?”
Luo Shen wanted to cry, “Which ones are there?”
Xingzhi stifled a smile and said, “If your Majesty performs well tonight, we can resolve the biggest one.”
Upon hearing this, Luo Shen sighed in relief. If the biggest one was to be dealt with in bed, then the others would likely just involve some kissing and hugging.
He nodded firmly, “Then let’s make up for that one!”
“As you wish, Your Majesty,” Xingzhi replied, laying him back down on the bed. With a single pull, Luo Shen’s clothes fell away, clearly having been intentionally loosened by Xingzhi.
Xingzhi curled his lips into a smile and leaned in to kiss him.
As the night deepened, the guards outside were drowsily watching the half-moon in the sky. Suddenly, they heard a low cry from inside the room, and they immediately turned to look. But after that, everything was silent, as if nothing had happened. The two guards began to nod off again. A breeze picked up, rustling the leaves, masking certain noises that continued throughout the night. The guards, half-asleep, mumbled, “This tree is really tiring…” and then heard a stifled, barely audible laugh from inside the room.
