Picking Up An Alpha On Garbage Star - Chapter 10 Falling Off the Horse?
Pei An rarely mobilized so many people on DS009. Occasionally, he would hire a few servants, usually just a handful, and sometimes a dozen at most. But today, he had called for fifty people.
In this base, aside from the technical experts, anyone taken out could take on ten opponents by themselves. Pei An had invested heavily in training them.
Fifty elite individuals were more than enough to turn the Golden Wind and Jade Dew upside down.
Today, it wasn’t Claude leading the team with Pei An but another person named Li Chengrui.
Li Chengrui’s appearance was different from Claude’s. Claude had the typical alpha look, while Li Chengrui appeared more reserved.
“Pei An, the personnel have been accounted for. Where are we going?” Li Chengrui didn’t address Pei An as “Brother Pei” or “Boss.” When he looked at Pei An, his gaze was different from how he looked at Iris, Li Chengrui, or Ah Huai.
Pei An ignored Li Chengrui’s intense gaze and replied directly, “Get on the vehicle. We’re heading to the Golden Wind and Jade Dew Club. Today, we’re going to dismantle that place.”
Seeing that Pei An didn’t seem to mind, Li Chengrui didn’t insist and joined the others in getting on a floating car. He showed no intention of riding with Pei An.
At this moment, Pei An was in a bad mood. He wanted to cheer up Pei An a bit, not have him wear that stern expression all the time. However, the thought of Pei An not being interested in discussing personal matters during such a serious moment stopped Li Chengrui from voicing his thoughts.
Each floating car could carry six people. Pei An had brought ten floating cars for the journey to the Golden Wind and Jade Dew Club, and it was impossible for people not to be curious about what was happening.
However, DS009 had one survival rule: Don’t indulge your curiosity. Being curious about things you shouldn’t be curious about wasn’t a good idea.
The Golden Wind and Jade Dew Club was located on the busiest street in the city, occupying a significant area and rising seven stories high. Such a scale was quite extraordinary in a city with a population of just a few million.
However, DS009, a tiny planet, didn’t have as many wealthy individuals.
“Someone, smash that flashy sign of the Golden Wind and Jade Dew for me,” Pei An squinted his eyes, looking at the neon sign that spelled out the club’s name, which irritated him.
Upon Pei An’s command, someone immediately stepped forward, raised their gun, and aimed at the sign. A gunshot rang out, shattering the glass tubes.
The attack on the club immediately caught the attention of those inside, and they began to take precautions.
However, the skills of those inside, who were just good-for-nothings seeking pleasure, couldn’t compare to the well-trained individuals Pei An had brought.
“Surround the club; don’t let anyone out,” Pei An ordered.
Led by Li Chengrui, the people brought by Pei An swiftly followed the command. They forcibly broke open the club’s entrance using their weapons and stormed inside. With little room to maneuver, they scattered and went room by room, one group keeping watch while the others searched.
“Screams!”
“Who are you? Get out now! You want to watch people have fun?”
“Guns! They have guns!”
The club’s rooms were on the second floor, and they were soundproofed, so Pei An couldn’t hear the screams.
He strode into the club boldly, heading straight for a couch in the lobby without caring about the club’s hired thugs holding guns and glaring at him.
He didn’t pay these thugs any mind; there was no need for him to get involved personally.
Soon, his people had disarmed these insignificant henchmen, who were neither here nor there. They were all forced to squat down, guns aimed at them.
Since the Golden Wind and Jade Dew had been vandalized, the person in charge couldn’t hide. The public face of the club was a female alpha, dressed in a sexy figure-hugging dress and high heels. She glanced at Pei An and the people surrounding him, all armed, and felt a hint of panic. The next moment, she put on a smiling face.
“Oh, may I ask how to address this gentleman? Why have you brought so many people to my place? It’s quite a spectacle with soldiers and weapons drawn. My small club can’t afford such grandeur!”
Pei An raised an eyebrow slightly, “Small club?”
Li Chengrui aimed his gun directly at the woman in the red dress’s forehead. With a word from Pei An, the bullet would send her straight to hell.
“A small club?” Pei An took a couple of steps forward. “You really are humble.”
“Bringing people from beyond the Morland Galaxy, aren’t you being too modest?” Pei An continued, his imposing mental presence engulfing her like a tidal wave. “You dare to claim that no omega kidnapped by your people has escaped from this wretched place today?”
Pei An’s mental force pressed heavily on the woman, making it difficult for her to breathe. She fell to her knees in an instant, as if her heart were held by the powerful mental force, ready to explode at Pei An’s slightest thought.
Struggling to speak, the woman trembled all over, but there was no sympathy for her. Li Chengrui lowered his gun, aiming at her head.
Pei An rose leisurely, circling the woman slowly. His pace was deliberate, and wherever his feet landed, his mental force tilted in that direction.
After one round, the woman’s eyes had lost some of their clarity, and even breathing became increasingly difficult for her.
Pei An withdrew his mental force and calmly returned to the couch. “Do you have something to say?”
The sudden release of the mental force left the woman feeling as if she had been pulled up from the depths of the ocean.
She wiped her sweat-shining forehead with trembling hands and raised her head to meet Pei An’s gaze. Her face could no longer maintain its fake smile. “You’re quite a strange person. Since you know we can bring people from beyond the Moran Galaxy, then the forces behind us are not to be underestimated. Why do you intervene like a knight in shining armor? What’s your motive?”
Pei An didn’t feel obliged to explain to the woman. He asked, “How many people have you kidnapped, and where are they held? Who is behind this club?”
The woman started to laugh, chuckling one moment after another, as if she found Pei An’s question amusing. “Do you really think I’d tell you?”
“You!” Li Chengrui became impatient, and he aimed his gun at the woman’s head.
Unfazed, the woman tilted her head and locked eyes with Li Chengrui. “If you have the guts, just shoot me. Indecisive people like you are useless.”
Li Chengrui gritted his teeth but refrained from acting impulsively. He looked at Pei An, seeking guidance. “How do we deal with her?”
Pei An stood up, took a few steps, and then crouched beside the woman. He patted her head lightly.
“Ah!” The woman let out a painful cry.
“Tie her up and find someone,” Pei An ordered.
The rooms upstairs in the club had all been searched by I Rui’s team. Apart from the patrons, there were only the club’s masters and misses present, and no victims of kidnapping or coercion like Fang Qin had been found so far.
Since there was nothing upstairs, the group had no choice but to head downstairs.
“Is there a basement, and where is it?” Pei An randomly picked one of the club’s thugs and questioned him.
“Yes, there is, I’ll lead you there! Please don’t kill me, I beg you!” Trembling with fear, the thug was pushed forward at gunpoint and had no choice but to guide Pei An and his team to the basement.
Li Chengrui rushed ahead of Pei An and entered the underground passage. The passage was long, and they had to walk quite a distance in near darkness.
Pei An walked in the middle, and before Li Chengrui could detect any danger up ahead, Pei An had already pulled him aside and engaged in a scuffle with someone.
“Stop, don’t move.”
In the darkness, very close by, a familiar voice emerged.
“It’s me, Xie Yu.”
Pei An squinted his eyes and used the faint light to take a look at Xie Yu. “Xie Yu, what are you doing here?”
Since it was someone he knew, there was no need for violence. Xie Yu withdrew his stance.
He looked at the string of people following Pei An and took the initiative to change the situation. “Maybe you could start by explaining why you’re here?”
Li Chengrui was also an alpha, and he sensed danger from this unexpected alpha. He raised his gun, aiming it at Xie Yu.
Xie Yu glanced at the anxious Li Chengrui but didn’t make any hostile moves. He simply addressed Pei An, “Perhaps you should have your people put down their guns first. This corridor is quite narrow, and an accidental discharge wouldn’t be good.”
Li Chengrui was impatient. “Who are you?”
Pei An pressed down on Li Chengrui’s gun, motioning him to calm down.
“Put down your weapons,” Pei An ordered.
Li Chengrui might be anxious, but he obediently complied, putting down his gun and not aiming it at Xie Yu anymore.
Raising an eyebrow, Xie Yu noticed that Pei An held a high position in the minds of these people. They did whatever he said.
“How many people are in the basement?” Pei An asked since they were all in this situation together, and there was no need for pretense.
Xie Yu also got serious. “About a dozen, they’ve been starving and terrified.”
“Liu Changhui, take your team and get everyone from the basement. Take them to the welfare center and have Manzhu examine them.”
Li Chengrui reluctantly agreed, leading his team to the basement. As they passed by Xie Yu, he gave Xie Yu a fierce glare.
Xie Yu didn’t care about Li Chengrui’s glare and remained unscathed, just as intact as before.
Pei An allowed Li Chengrui to take the people from the basement away, effectively sending Li Chengrui away as well.
Li Chengrui’s performance tonight had been less than satisfactory, not living up to the standards Pei An had set for a team leader.
Pei An felt somewhat irritated. He disliked when personal emotions interfered with work, and Li Chengrui had displayed a lack of composure.
“Shall we go outside for a chat?” Xie Yu extended an invitation.
Pei An nodded, and as he turned away, the friendly smile he had shown during the operation disappeared, his lips curving into a neutral line.
He regretted showing up in the first place. How had Xie Yu ended up here? He couldn’t afford to expose himself now.
Xie Yu strolled casually, one hand in his pocket. If it weren’t for the dimly lit corridor, he might have given off the impression of strutting down a runway.
