Picking Up An Alpha On Garbage Star - Chapter 11 Conversation
The Lyte Empire officially prohibits prostitution. Pei An had the people who came to patronize Golden Wind and Jade Dew arrested and sent to the police station. When the police station opens tomorrow, they’ll receive the generous gift he sent.
Golden Wind and Jade Dew were in disarray. While the lobby was relatively clean, Pei An and Xie Yu sat on the sofa, both appearing rather relaxed.
“Tell me, how did you find this place?” Pei An stared directly at Xie Yu. After spending these past few days together, this was the first time he showed a “don’t mess with me” attitude in front of Xie Yu.
“My initial intention was just to go to the supermarket to buy some things. But then, I overheard two of Golden Wind and Jade Dew’s thugs talking.” Xie Yu organized his words, “Well, you know, when you see something wrong happening, you want to step in and help.”
Xie Yu was a bit modest in his explanation.
Pei An tilted his head, his gaze teasing, “You call that ‘seeing something wrong happening and stepping in to help’?”
The route from the supermarket to here was a far cry from “seeing something wrong happening.” It wasn’t as simple as that.
Xie Yu didn’t answer directly. He countered, “What about you? I saw all these people obeying your orders. Who are you exactly?”
While Xie Yu found Pei An quite appealing, he couldn’t ignore the fact that Pei An had commanded so many people. Pei An couldn’t possibly be the ordinary person who worked the night shift as he initially appeared. Even Xie Yu’s rescue might have hidden intentions behind it.
His escape pod had already been destroyed, and Pei An had rescued him back to Xi Yu Zhengli. At that moment, he looked like a mess. But with Xie Yu’s intuition, he felt that Pei An must have some suspicions about his identity.
It was just unclear how far Pei An’s guesses had gone.
Pei An chuckled softly, “Mr. Xie, why should I tell you?”
Xie Yu understood that indeed, Pei An had no obligation to share that information.
“You’re boldly tearing this place down, won’t there be any trouble?” Xie Yu changed the topic.
Pei An casually brushed some dust off his clothes, likely from his visit to the basement.
“I’m doing this for the greater good. The Administrative Bureau should reward me for it.”
Xie Yu: “…”
Pei An raised an eyebrow, a hint of skepticism in his tone. “Did you act like you were invisible with dozens of armed people? The laws of the Lyte Empire clearly state that civilians cannot form private armed groups. You’ve already broken the law, and you expect to be rewarded?”
Xie Yu indeed didn’t fully grasp the environment of the Moran System; otherwise, he wouldn’t be concerned that Pei An might be arrested for assembling an armed force without authorization.
“Boss, there’s a message from Li Chengrui. He said all the people we rescued today have been taken to the welfare center, and Manzhu is already examining them,” Yi Rui walked over, showing Pei An the messages on her smart brain.
Pei An glanced at it briefly and then averted his gaze. He calmly stated, “Notify Li Chengrui that when we return, his role will temporarily switch to logistics.”
Yi Rui exclaimed, “Ah, Pei Ge, this…”
Pei An waved his hand dismissively. “Just do as I said.”
Yi Rui responded with a “Yes!” even though she felt somewhat sorry for Li Chengrui, who had been infatuated with Boss Pei for so many years. After all, Boss Pei didn’t have love in his heart, but this didn’t affect Yi Rui’s willingness to carry out Pei An’s orders.
The most challenging thing in life is unrequited love. Even more challenging than unrequited love is one-sided unrequited love.
Xie Yu asked, “You’re discussing this right in front of me?”
Pei An responded, “What’s wrong? Are you planning to report me?”
Considering that Xie Yu didn’t know his true background, Pei An continued acting. “No way, right? After all, I brought you back and even spent money on you. Not many people would treat you so well.”
Xie Yu couldn’t ignore the inconsistency in Pei An’s words – being “brought back” and “spending money.” It sounded like he was treating Xie Yu like a lost pet.
Pei An’s eyes were innocent. “Did it sound like that?”
Xie Yu massaged his temples. “Haven’t you noticed something off about your choice of words?”
The phrases like “brought back” and “spent money” sounded a lot like rescuing a lost cat or dog.
Pei An looked bewildered. “Really?”
Not wanting to delve into the topic of whether Pei An was treating him like a small animal, Xie Yu changed the subject.
“It’s quite late. Are you going back home?”
This topic transitioned less awkwardly.
Pei An relaxed his previously staged expression, showing an indifferent look. “Of course, why wouldn’t I go back?”
He not only intended to go back but also to take Xie Yu with him.
Just because you stumbled upon my secrets doesn’t mean you can just leave. Without any way to escape, Pei An intended to keep Xie Yu here until he’d served his purpose.
On the way back, Xie Yu rode in Pei An’s car, which sped so fast it left sparks in its wake, further altering Xie Yu’s perception of Pei An’s identity.
Upon arriving home, Pei An went about his usual routine, turning on the lights, changing into slippers, and then sitting on the sofa.
Xie Yu moved more slowly. He waited until Pei An had settled on the sofa before changing into slippers himself.
“What did you go to the supermarket for?” Pei An asked suddenly.
Xie Yu, caught off guard by the question, replied, “I went to buy Scent blocker.”
Pei An was taken aback, not expecting that Xie Yu had actually gone to the supermarket to buy something. He had assumed that Xie Yu was investigating DS009, but it turned out he had purchased Scent blocker.
For a moment, the air grew strangely quiet.
One is an omega, and the other is an alpha. Both of them are well aware that even if they live together, it wouldn’t be excessive to use a large amount of Scent blocker. They are not the type to release pheromones recklessly.
The reason Pei An and Xie Yu both know is that their pheromone compatibility is exceptionally high, which means even the slightest residue can be detected by each other.
In the vast sea of people, achieving a pheromone compatibility rate of 60% between an alpha and an omega is already considered good. A 60% pheromone match is enough to make people say, “They’re a good match.” However, in their case, it’s clearly more than 60%.
Without professional testing, no one can be certain how high their pheromone compatibility rate actually is—70%, 80%, or even 90%?
Two non-couple AOs living under the same roof seems dangerous from any perspective, especially for the omega.
However, once Xie Yu realized their high pheromone compatibility, he immediately went to the supermarket to buy Scent blocker.
Pei An had to admit that very few alphas would be as self-aware as Xie Yu. Even the alphas under his command would instinctively sniff the lingering omega pheromones in the air, which was an alpha’s natural response.
“Since you’re aware of this, I don’t need to emphasize it further,” Pei An said as he walked toward his bedroom. “You’d better maintain your awareness consistently. Otherwise, I’ll make sure you can’t leave DS009.”
Xie Yu’s gaze followed Pei An until he entered his bedroom.
Pei An seemed to have many secrets.
Xie Yu lowered his eyes, a smile tugging at his lips. It seemed he wouldn’t be bored during his time at DS009.
“Do you want to shower first, or should I?” Xie Yu called loudly toward Pei An’s bedroom.
“You go first, and make sure to use plenty of Scent blocker,” Pei An replied. Since Xie Yu was already self-aware and had bought the spray, it might as well be put to good use.
Xie Yu readily agreed and went back to his bedroom to get a towel before heading into the bathroom for a shower.
Since Pei An asked Xie Yu to shower first, he still had some things to attend to.
Yi Rui passed on her instructions to Li Chengrui, who was feeling uneasy.
【Pei An, is there something I’m not doing well? Why did Yi Rui tell me that you’re transferring me to logistics?】
【You’re too impulsive. Go to logistics to temper your temperament.】
Pei An didn’t like it when his subordinates acted impulsively, especially during missions outside. They had to follow orders.
Li Chengrui had always been different from the others. While others called him “Boss” or “Pei Ge,” some even used a more formal “Leader,” Li Chengrui, on the other hand, always addressed him by his name.
Pei An, in all his years of life, knew exactly why Li Chengrui did this. It was simply because Li Chengrui didn’t see him as a leader but rather someone he liked.
Being liked by someone was something Pei An should appreciate. Love was something others invested emotionally, and Pei An didn’t fail to notice that.
However, for Pei An, personal emotions came second to work. Li Chengrui’s behavior today, seeing Xie Yu and getting agitated, treating him as a rival upon their first meeting, and threatening Xie Yu with a gun, was far from composed.
In the future, he planned to lead his team out of DS009 and out of the Morlan Galaxy. Li Chengrui’s temperament, as displayed today, wasn’t suitable for long-term stays in his team.
Li Chengrui had joined the team with his own ideals, but his ideals and personal emotions had become entangled, leaving him confused about his true motivations.
Pei An’s message received a delayed response from Li Chengrui.
【I understand.】
Pei An didn’t know if he genuinely understood or was just pretending. He didn’t press for more and replied with a simple “Okay.”
If Li Chengrui could temper his temperament in logistics, they could still be like-minded friends. However, if Li Chengrui remained stubborn and inflexible, Pei An would have to replace him from the frontlines.
He had to be responsible for the entire team.
Xie Yu showered quickly, just as efficiently as he did in the military. Afterward, he used the Scent blocker extensively, ensuring that no trace of pheromones could be detected.
“I’m done showering. You can go now,” Xie Yu knocked on Pei An’s bedroom door and then returned to his own room.
Pei An detached the smart device and placed it aside before entering the bathroom to shower.
The establishment like Gold Wind and Jade Dew wasn’t clean, and it carried various scents of pheromones—both alpha and omega. However, none of them were strong enough to linger. A quick shower would wash away any remnants.
After the shower, Pei An also used the Scent blocker, all the while contemplating. He wondered how much sales he contributed to the supermarket this month. Shouldn’t the supermarket award him a “Sales VIP” title?
