Picking Up An Alpha On Garbage Star - Chapter 20
Pei An had encountered his fair share of people driven by greed. Some were overtly malevolent, their wickedness apparent at first glance. Others maintained an appearance of propriety while conducting illicit activities in secret.
Pei An never doubted the intricate connection between Fan Wen and Jin Feng. However, he hadn’t expected Fan Wen’s level of malevolence to surpass his imagination.
“Based on our investigation, Jin Feng initially presented itself as a legitimate hotel, which Fan Wen personally established. Later, it quietly transformed into a brothel involved in human trafficking.” Yirui stated, grinding her teeth. After all, Fan Wen was an executive officer of DS009. His involvement in criminal activities was deeply troubling.
“Fan Wen is not the ultimate mastermind behind Jin Feng. He merely facilitates operations for the real power behind the scenes. We have no information on how much money Fan Wen receives annually from Jin Feng.”
The ability to smuggle people into DS009 for many years, seemingly bypassing security checks, was an achievement only Fan Wen could manage.
“To enter the Moran Star System, a spacecraft must pass through an initial security check, and upon arriving at DS009, another security check is required. The Moran Star System Administrative Bureau is far from clean,” Yirui, a native of the Moran Star System, revealed her disappointment and disgust towards the Administrative Bureau and its officers.
“Further refine the evidence; we can use it.” After reviewing the information, Pei An returned it to Yirui.
“Understood; I’ll work on that.”
Since their organization’s inception until today, 14 years have passed. During this time, they had accumulated a considerable amount of power. Perhaps it was time to make their move.
…
Xie Yu finally intercepted a signal. He immediately sent an encrypted message to his subordinates using a code known to only a few. Without knowledge of the code, no one would understand the message he had sent.
The response came swiftly: “Commander, are you okay? You haven’t lost any limbs, have you?”
Xie Yu replied, “I missed a massive chicken leg. Less chatter, come pick me up.”
The other end continued: “Commander, where are you now?”
Xie Yu responded, “Moran Star System, DS009.”
In the depths of space, an immense fleet suddenly altered its course to travel to uncharted regions, all at the same time. Every starship and spacecraft in this vast fleet bore a silver-winged emblem, signifying the Third Regiment.
This colossal fleet moved rapidly, increasing its speed to the maximum and initiating short-distance jumps, all in the pursuit of reaching their destination as quickly as possible.
…
Pei An had been extremely busy recently. He left home early every morning, returned home late at night, took a quick shower, and went to sleep, only to leave again to attend to his affairs.
Xie Yu made breakfast every morning, ensuring that Pei An had a hot meal before heading out. Even if the dumplings or buns he prepared were half-cooked, Pei An appreciated the effort.
Pei An was occupied from early morning to late evening, leaving no time for interaction with Xie Yu. However, Xie Yu was content with contacting his military forces without hindrance.
Ever since he intercepted the signal, Xie Yu maintained daily communication with his subordinates, gathering information about what had occurred since his disappearance.
Having been without new information for an extended period, Xie Yu needed to get a grasp on all the facts.
[“Commander, what’s the deal with Central Star’s response? You went missing for no apparent reason, and they were remarkably nonchalant in their reply. They even considered replacing you with one of their people. If it weren’t for your father raising a ruckus in Central Star, they would have just assumed you were dead?”]
Xie Yu toyed with his smart brain, hesitating to respond. Many people wished him harm, and to hold his subordinates’ loved ones hostage and plant numerous bombs within the military without detection was no small feat. The individuals behind this had considerable power.
Moreover, he was aware of the influential figures he had antagonized over the years. All of them held substantial sway, and the number of people who wanted him dead was substantial.
Furthermore, he was his father’s only child. If he perished, the control over the Third Regiment was bound to pass to someone else. The Lyte Empire had a total of eight regiments, each under the command of one of the founding generals. Each regiment had its unique interests, and many wished to absorb others. Ambitious nobles also sought to bolster their control over the military for their own gain.
“Don’t rush; we’ll investigate slowly.” Xie Yu knew that haste could complicate matters. As long as he remained alive, those seeking his life would persist.
Keeping the enemy in the dark while maintaining the upper hand is the best course of action.
“Commander, we’ve already informed the senior officer about your safety. However, I don’t understand why you’re not allowing us to publicize it. If you’re not dead, then those trying to interfere with our 258th Regiment won’t be able to make a move, will they?”
“Enough talk. I’ll explain the reasons when you arrive.”
Xie Yu refrained from sharing the message for a reason.
From Pei An’s message, it was evident that the 286th Regiment was headed for the Moran Star System. Unfortunately, the 286th Regiment had a long-standing rivalry with the 258th Regiment, especially with their commander, who hailed from the Monderi family. The Monderi family had conflicting political views with Pei An’s family, and their differences were considerable. He had even considered assassinating the head of the Monderi family.
Therefore, the situation in DS009 had to remain confidential. Otherwise, the 286th Regiment would divert a significant amount of energy and urgently warp in to attempt to eliminate him. After the spaceship explosion incident, Xie Yu became even more concerned about his own life.
Furthermore, if Pei An genuinely clashed with the 286th Regiment, his forces would arrive to counter them. The 258th Regiment was the elite of the Third Regiment; the finest among the finest. The 286th Regiment would stand no chance against them.
His forces could not only stop the 286th Regiment but also provide Pei An with support. Given Pei An’s appearance, he most likely intended to eliminate Fan Wen, and Xie Yu was equally eager to do so. He could assist Pei An in various ways.
However, he wondered how he would explain his identity to Pei An when the time came.
Xie Yu was feeling a bit overwhelmed.
If Pei An were aware that Xie Yu was concerned about his identity, he might have found it amusing. After all, Xie Yu’s identity as a Major General in the Third Regiment had no secrets. When Pei An teased Xie Yu, Xie Yu would simply state that he was a military man, transparent in his role.
Manzhu had already performed surgeries on five individuals, and to ease the minds of the victims, Pei An made time to accompany her during one of the surgeries.
The process of clearing the mixed pheromones was quite complex. Manzhu would begin by administering a sufficient amount of anesthesia to make the patients unconscious. She then carefully made an incision on the gland, causing blood to slowly flow out, which appeared rather unsettling.
Manzhu’s hands worked ceaselessly. While she gave blood to the patients, she simultaneously extracted blood from them. The process of extracting blood was necessary because the information pheromones in the gland had accumulated excessively. If not removed, numerous alpha pheromones would remain within the gland.
After some blood had been removed, Manzhu put down the surgical knife and proceeded to clear pheromones from the gland. This was done using a specialized device with a catheter that was inserted through the incision into the gland. A clearing solution was injected, which carried away the alpha pheromones from the gland.
After clearing the alpha pheromones, a reparative solution needed to be injected. This injection was quite painful, causing the patient significant distress, enough to make them writhe in agony. That’s why it was necessary to ensure the patients were entirely anesthetized before the surgery.
Once this series of procedures was completed, Manzhu sutured the incision on the patients’ glands.
If it were a simple procedure on the gland, it wouldn’t necessitate the use of VC+ healing gel. These omegas were at risk due to the significant damage to their glands. The numerous incisions, a diminished capacity for repair, and the additional strain from an extra surgery meant that standard medications applied to the incisions would not suffice. The healing time required would be too long, increasing the risk of wound rupture or infection.
Only VC+ healing gel, a specialized military-grade healing gel, could accelerate the healing process. This acceleration was several dozen times faster. Essentially, wounds that would take months to heal naturally would mend within days. Furthermore, the gel would not harm the body in any way.
However, the amount of VC+ healing gel available was extremely limited, sufficient for just one use. These omegas needed two surgeries to thoroughly clear their bodies of the dominant alpha pheromones. This was the reason why Manzhu mentioned that ten tubes of healing gel would only allow for five surgeries.
Pei An observed one surgery but worried that he might be overwhelmed with anger and head to the police station to take matters into his own hands if he continued watching.
Fan Wen spoke eloquently, but in practice, he had not taken any action against those whom he had detained at the Golden Wind and Jade Dew.
The Golden Wind and Jade Dew was an upscale club, and not a squalid rental property. The people who went there had one obvious characteristic: they were wealthy. Those without money couldn’t even step into the Golden Wind and Jade Dew to engage in any illicit activities. However, Fan Wen intended to remain an administrative officer in DS009 for as long as possible. He could hardly do anything to these affluent individuals.
In Fan Wen’s eyes, Pei An was just a man who was on his deathbed. Once he had overcome this period, Fan Wen could do as he pleased in DS009. However, there were still incomplete pieces of evidence, and until Pei An had complete control over DS009, and naturally became the leader, Fan Wen wouldn’t be able to do as he pleased.
Fan Wen wanted to eliminate Pei An, but Pei An also considered Fan Wen to be a thorn in his side. Both of them had their eyes on each other.
Pei An was determined to get rid of Fan Wen, but he needed more comprehensive evidence. If the evidence were insufficient, Fan Wen might escape punishment, which was unacceptable to Pei An.
The determination to eliminate Fan Wen escalated once again after witnessing one surgery.
