Picking Up An Alpha On Garbage Star - Chapter 29
Whether dumbfounded or dumbstruck, at this moment, General Xie Yu’s eyes didn’t see his dear subordinates; his focus was solely on Pei An.
Taking advantage of General Xie Yu’s hand, Pei An jumped down from the fighter and came face to face with Xie Yu’s diverse group of subordinates.
General Xie Yu was quite skilled in leading troops; he had never suffered a defeat. In the face of interstellar pirates, mentioning Xie Yu’s name was more effective than anyone else’s. However, the troops he led seemed a bit unconventional.
As Pei An swept his gaze, he noticed sleeves rolled up into a bunch, several unbuttoned buttons on military uniforms – not an uncommon sight. The exception was one individual who appeared disciplined and even had a shaved head.
Led by this individual with a shaved head, everyone eagerly watched as General Xie Yu personally assisted Pei An. They held their breath, as if any noise might disturb the entire fleet.
“Pei An, this is my adjutant, Colonel Lika,” Xie Yu nodded towards the one with a shaved head.
Pei An put on a polite smile. “Hello, Colonel Lika.”
Lika’s face froze momentarily. Others burst into laughter; if not for Xie Yu’s presence, the laughter might have shattered the heavens.
Pei An: “?” What’s so funny?
Xie Yu coughed twice and covered his mouth with a fist. “Um, well, Lika is female.”
Pei An reevaluated Lika, estimating a height over 1.8 meters, slightly taller than himself. Muscular and firm, she seemed capable of making an interstellar pirate cry with a single punch.
“Apologies, I’ve never seen such a cool alpha like you before,” Pei An sincerely apologized to Lika.
Lika rubbed her shaved head. “Haha, no problem. Almost everyone who sees me for the first time mistakes my gender. It’s not a big deal.”
Pei An appreciated that he was brought here by their commander; he wouldn’t fuss over such a trivial matter. Besides, look at how cool she was! She even praised me for being cool!
Totally different from those annoying male alphas!
“So, how did you and our commander get acquainted?” Lika, as Xie Yu’s adjutant, knew more than others. For instance, the commander spent a considerable sum to buy the Starfire Stone for the omega standing before her.
She vouched for her coolest image!
“Well…” Pei An cast his gaze towards Xie Yu, waiting for him to explain.
Caught in Pei An’s gaze, Xie Yu stepped forward to defuse the situation. “What else could it be? A relationship between a lifesaver and the unlucky one being saved.”
At this mention, Lika and others turned serious, no longer in a joking mood.
“Commander, during your absence, we also investigated the mastermind behind the scenes, but found nothing,” Lika reported.
Xie Yu waved dismissively. “If it were easy to find, they wouldn’t be able to plot against me. For now, don’t focus too much on this issue.”
Lika slapped her forehead. “Ah! Right, the person on the other side wants to board our Lord of the Underworld to meet you.”
Xie Yu nonchalantly tugged at the corner of his mouth. “Sure, I’ll let him board the Lord of the Underworld once I’m done tidying up.”
Before tidying up, he could stay outside.
As for how long it would take to tidy up? It depended on his mood.
“Disperse, do whatever you need to do. Lika, gather all the captains for a meeting,” Xie Yu, back in action, eagerly immersed himself in work upon his return.
Lika saluted and went to make arrangements. The others were shooed away, leaving only Xie Yu and Pei An.
“They’ll take a while to board the Lord of the Underworld. Shall I show you around in the meantime?” Xie Yu asked for Pei An’s opinion.
Pei An naturally welcomed the idea. “That would be great, Commander Xie.”
The address “Commander Xie” made Xie Yu’s teeth itch. He really wanted to ruffle Pei An’s hair affectionately. But he didn’t have the courage, diverted his gaze with a reluctant smile, and assumed the role of a tour guide.
The Lord of the Underworld was the most advanced flagship of the Third Legion, also serving as the face of the Third Legion. As the heir of the Third Legion, it made perfect sense for Xie Yu to use the Lord of the Underworld as his flagship.
Xie Yu knew every detail about each ship under his command, explaining the functions of the Lord of the Underworld to Pei An in great detail. He even delved into various fields of research, and Pei An listened attentively, rapidly analyzing the data of the Lord of the Underworld.
When Lika came to inform them that all the captains had boarded the Lord of the Underworld, Pei An still seemed reluctant to leave.
“Since you’re joining the meeting, you’re not an outsider,” Xie Yu smiled.
Pei An was bewildered.
Inside, Lika was laughing wildly while calmly explaining to Pei An, “Well, our meeting today is about how to trap the 286th Legion so they can’t crawl back up.”
Pei An, who had always been serious at work, was taken aback. How could a meeting have such a joking theme?
He looked at Xie Yu with confusion, only to find that Xie Yu nodded in agreement.
Pei An guessed that Xie Yu, serving as his nanny, had probably suppressed his true nature.
This time, three main ships from the 258th Legion had come. The captains of these three ships were the ones Xie Yu called for the meeting.
Seeing their commander bringing someone in, the three captains were not surprised, especially since Lika could get along with anyone. In no time, news of the potential departure from bachelorhood for their commander had spread across the three main ships. The captains, aware of their commander bringing someone back, were not surprised.
Xie Yu didn’t bother explaining to them and proceeded with introductions.
“This is Pei An, my lifesaver, you should all be aware,” Xie Yu introduced Pei An first.
Pei An nodded slightly in acknowledgment to the three.
Then, Xie Yu introduced his three subordinates.
“The captain of the Lord of the Underworld, Pang Li, Impolite Li.”
Pang Li, a male alpha who appeared refined, was similar to Xie Yu in stature, tall and muscular. However, he seemed less threatening, even when not smiling, as if he were enjoying a pleasant breeze.
Pang Li: “Commander, you taught me that manners aren’t necessary in battle.”
The impolite Captain Pang Li immediately pointed out his commander’s flaw, “You said when we fight enemies, we should be as unreasonable as your mom beating you.”
Pei An turned his head, his eyes sparkling as he looked at Xie Yu. He really wanted to know if what Pang Li said was true.
With Xie Yu in front of him, how could there be such a ruffian vibe?
“Pang Li, do you want to clean the restroom on the Lord of the Underworld?” Xie Yu politely smiled.
Pei An understood. If they were already resorting to threats, then it was undoubtedly true.
“This one, Captain Ye Xiuze of the Changyuan, Polite Ye.”
Ye Xiuze seemed much less harmful than Pang Li. At first glance, few would think Ye Xiuze had any intimidating presence. He had a very innocent-looking face, and even had a bit of baby fat.
“Hello, hello, I’m Ye Xiuze, the only omega captain in the entire Third Legion,” Ye Xiuze smiled, revealing two small tiger teeth.
Pei An also smiled, “Hello.”
Ye Xiuze was suitable for intelligence work; he looked really harmless, capable of deceiving a whole group with just a smile.
“Finally, the captain of the Moonlight, Zhuge Yue.”
Zhuge Yue was evidently a female alpha, with a female figure and an imposing alpha aura.
“Commander, honestly, I have a good impression of Mr. Pei and am infatuated at first sight.” Zhuge Yue spoke to Xie Yu but flirtatiously glanced at Pei An.
Xie Yu smiled, “Do you also want to clean the restroom?”
Ignoring their commander’s threatening gaze, Zhuge Yue said affectionately, “Honestly, I think you are the best omega.”
Pei An, aware that Zhuge Yue was joking, didn’t take it to heart. He joked back, “I believe you are the best alpha too.”
Xie Yu: “…”
Pei An, with his temporary mark, laughing and joking with other alphas, how could he allow such a thing?
Although he understood that Pei An treated him as a friend, or he wouldn’t have asked for help in marking temporarily, being marked by other alphas still made him jealous.
Fortunately, Pei An didn’t chat too much with Zhuge Yue, and Lika received a message from the communication bridge.
“Commander, the other side is spreading rumors that we intentionally set up an ambush to blow up their warships, and they want an explanation.”
Xie Yu, who didn’t allow them to board the Lord of the Underworld and had kept them waiting outside, was now infuriated.
“Okay, let them come and ask for an explanation,” Xie Yu raised his hand, giving an order to the communication bridge to let them in.
“It seems we don’t need to hold a meeting. Let’s improvise and see what happens. Trap them in any way possible,” Pang Li said confidently.
There were meeting rooms of various sizes on the warship, and Xie Yu found a small one, waiting for people to arrive.
Before the arrival of the guests, Xie Yu gave his three subordinates some information. “Their warships exploded because of Pei An.”
Pang Li, Ye Xiuze, and Zhuge Yue’s eyes immediately changed, filled with admiration and awe.
“Mr. Pei, how did you do it?” Pang Li started rubbing his hands, almost revealing his desire to explode the 286th Legion.
Pei An: “By loading enough bombs onto drones. Bombarding the power systems can achieve that.”
Drones had small bodies and wouldn’t attract attention in the vast universe. However, to destroy the power system of a warship, the drones needed either a sufficient number of bombs or powerful enough bombs. Yet, using too many drones would still attract the enemy’s attention. Therefore, only more powerful bombs could obliterate a main ship.
Obviously, being able to completely destroy the power system of a main ship was not achievable with ordinary bombs. This was their secret weapon, and it wasn’t something to be casually inquired about.
“Later, let’s be mindful of what to say and what not to say. You all understand,” Xie Yu glanced at the message, and Lika was bringing people over.
The three simultaneously made an “OK” gesture. Pang Li and Zhuge Yue sat there like bosses, fortunately, Ye Xiuze maintained a bit of composure on the surface.
“Sergeant Hila Mondray, I have seen the commander.” The person walked into the meeting room with a gloomy face, saluting Xie Yu reluctantly.
Xie Yu lazily returned the salute, not even inviting them to sit. He coldly asked, “Why, Sergeant Hila, instead of repairing your own warship, you ran onto our Lord of the Underworld? What for?”
Sergeant Hila Mondray was almost infuriated by Xie Yu’s intentional questioning. If it weren’t for being on Xie Yu’s territory, he might have cursed vehemently.
“General Xie, you are a general, different from a small fry like me. But can’t you be a bit less excessive? Intentionally ambushing and blowing up our warships?”
Pei An glanced sideways. Previously, Xie Yu had already hinted that his background was questionable. Why would this person named Hila dare to falsely accuse Xie Yu?
Xie Yu was curious too. He remained silent, waiting to see if Hila Mondray could justify his claims.
“Yes, I admit that I brought the fleet to the Moran Star System without official orders. I came to the Moran Star System at the invitation of DS009 Administrative Bureau to eliminate rebels. The rebels had threatened the safety of DS009. But, General Xie, what about you? By blowing up my warships, does it mean you are colluding with the rebels?”
Pei An remained expressionless. Hila Mondray actually had the audacity to place blame on Xie Yu after he had already been exposed.
Hila Mondray may not have guessed wrong on one thing—Xie Yu did indeed collaborate with the rebels.
Pei An subtly raised the corner of his lips and began to counterattack: “It’s strange. The administrative officer of DS009, and the interstellar pirate known as Scar, are close associates. They share everything, live together, and yet they still send the military to surround Scar? ”
Hila Mondray charged into the room, completely ignoring Pei An, who intentionally reduced his presence. Only when Pei An spoke up did Hila notice there was another person in the small meeting room, aside from Xie Yu and his four subordinates, someone he had never seen before.
“The bombs were originally meant for the interstellar pirates. Since the administrative officer is so close to them, we naturally had to protect ourselves. We just didn’t expect the bombs to hit not the pirates but the Empire’s military.” Pei An’s ability to twist the truth was impressive.
If it were any other time, Hila Mondray wouldn’t tolerate being accused by a nobody. But now, he stared at Pei An without uttering a word, and even his legs felt a bit weak.
Xie Yu furrowed his brows. Pei An hadn’t done anything to him, so what was Hila Mondray trying to achieve?
Not only was Xie Yu puzzled, but Lika and the others were also utterly confused.
Even the previously composed Pei An was taken aback. What was going on with Hila Mondray?
“Wife?” Hila Mondray seemed to be lost in some memory. “No, you’re not the wife. The wife is already dead. You are… the young master?”
Pei An’s gaze gradually became sharp. The original owner of this body and the omega father of the original owner looked almost identical; father and son were truly cut from the same mold.
If it weren’t for someone who resembled him so much and had lost his father, Hila Mondray wouldn’t have mistaken Pei An for someone else.
Xie Yu stood up immediately. “What are you calling him?”
How could Pei An be the young master of the Mondray family? He was clearly in a distant star system… No, Pei An had never mentioned being born in a distant star system.
“Is your omega father named Pei Ruyu?” When Hila Mondray spoke these three words, Pei An clenched his fist, and veins bulged on his forehead. “Do you know my father?”
“I know, I know him very well!” Perhaps after confirming Pei An’s identity, Hila Mondray’s eyes became more eager, full of calculation and exploitation. He wanted to gain benefits through Pei An.
As soon as the words “Pei Ruyu” came out of Hila Mondray’s mouth, Pei An’s expression changed. He questioned him with a barely noticeable sneer, “You know why there hasn’t been an heir in the Mondray family for over a decade?”
“Because of karma and retribution!” Pei An’s patience had reached its limit. He propped his hands on the meeting table, flipped over, and kicked Hila Mondray, sending him flying against the thick steel wall.
Hila Mondray spat out blood from the impact.
Xie Yu approached and pulled Pei An into his arms. “What’s going on?”
Pang Li and the others had varied expressions, with Lika being the most dramatic, jaw dropped in shock.
“The Mondray family deserves to be extinct!” Pei An stared at Hila Mondray with a fierce gaze, like a ferocious wolf. “Unscrupulous, may you die a miserable death!”
Hila Mondray’s dream hadn’t even begun, and the dreamer was kicked to pieces. He struggled to stand, wiped the blood from his mouth with his sleeve, and said, “You are also part of the Mondray family! Cursing the Mondray family is cursing yourself!”
“Do I cherish being part of your Mondray family?” Pei An turned away from Xie Yu’s embrace, raised his eyebrows, and sneered, “The surname Mondray is truly disgusting.”
The Mondray family, the top-ranked noble family in the Lyte Empire, wealthy and influential. Especially the head of the Mondray family, even more so. It was truly sickening.
Xie Yu grabbed Pei An again, this time with more strength, and used his hand to block Pei An’s line of sight. He turned to instruct, “What are you still standing there for? Someone who traveled a long way is a guest. Take Sergeant Hila to rest.”
Lika and the others immediately understood and approached, restraining Hila Mondray.
Hila Mondray roared, “Xie Yu! How dare you detain an Imperial officer without proper authority? You’re rebelling!”
Xie Yu urged, “Hurry up!”
Pang Li promptly knocked Hila Mondray unconscious with a single strike and dragged him away, leaving the meeting room to Xie Yu and Pei An.
Pei An hadn’t fully recovered from extreme anger, his eyes reddened, and he was sweating profusely.
Supporting him, Xie Yu guided him to sit down, gently patting Pei An’s back to soothe him. “Don’t get too worked up. If you’re uncomfortable, just let me know. I’ll take care of it for you.”
Pei An took deep breaths, trying to calm himself, but the sweating betrayed his unsettled emotions. Even though he had decided fourteen years ago to exterminate the Mondray family as an offering to those departed, witnessing a member of the Mondray family made him nauseous.
“Xie Yu,” Pei An spoke hoarsely, “I won’t let Hila Mondray off. Don’t get involved.”
Xie Yu replied, “Coincidentally, our 258th Legion has a deep feud with the 286th Legion, which is controlled by the Mondray family. In other words, we also have a grudge against the Mondray family. How about this, I’ll tell you about my vendetta with the Mondray family, and in exchange, you tell me about your connection with them. Deal?”
Still in a state of shock, Pei An managed to hear every word Xie Yu said. “Deal.”
Pei An’s pheromones uncontrollably leaked, disturbing Xie Yu’s mental focus. Through the pheromones, Xie Yu sensed Pei An’s emotions—sadness, pain, anger. Pei An’s soul was screaming in despair.
Why did it have to be like this?
Additionally, Pei An’s body began to heat up, indicating the onset of the heat period, even though he had been temporarily marked just yesterday.
Having limited knowledge in this area, Xie Yu immediately called for the medical personnel to come.
Given the diverse population on the warship and the presence of military personnel, family members, and temporary staff, the medical team on board was well-equipped. Having them examine Pei An’s heat period symptoms should pose no issues.
“Pei An, can you hear me?” Xie Yu touched Pei An’s forehead, which was getting warmer.
“Yes,” Pei An weakly responded.
He vaguely understood why he ended up in this state. Manzhu had mentioned that emotional highs and lows were not conducive to stabilizing hormones during the heat period. Despite his usual excellent emotional control, the encounter with Hila Mondray had thrown his hormones into chaos.
As there were many alphas on the warship, Xie Yu dared not take Pei An outside. Moreover, Pei An didn’t want too many people to see him in this state. Therefore, Xie Yu only allowed medical personnel into the meeting room, with Lika personally guarding outside.
The doctor conducted a brief examination of Pei An, then instructed Xie Yu to unbutton Pei An’s shirt and reveal the back of his neck.
“Emotional fluctuations during an omega’s heat period can easily lead to hormonal imbalance. The temporary mark you applied is still healing, so it’s better not to use the biting gland method for temporary marking. You can use pheromones to soothe instead,” the doctor explained and prescribed medication to regulate hormonal fluctuations. “Follow the instructions and take it at least once a day, three times a day, preferably using pheromones for comfort.”
Xie Yu held Pei An with one arm and received the prescribed medication with the other. “I’ll remember.”
After sending the doctor away, Xie Yu handed Pei An a glass of water for the medicine.
Pei An threw the medicine directly into his mouth and washed it down with a gulp of water.
Xie Yu was alarmed. “Take it easy!”
Pei An, sensing the icy air in the surroundings, whispered, “Xie Yu, about the exchange we agreed upon, is it valid?”
Xie Yu paused, “It’s valid.”
Then let’s proceed with the exchange.
