Picking Up An Alpha On Garbage Star - Chapter 35.2
Eight years ago, after Xie Yu graduated from the military academy, he joined his family’s army. Although he would eventually take command of the entire Third Legion, becoming the Supreme Commander of the Third Legion was just a matter of time. However, Xie Yu had never thought of simply taking over the Third Legion. He had been accumulating military achievements, striving to advance in military ranks.
Military achievements are real and cannot be faked unless one resorts to dishonorable means. It took him eight years to advance to the rank of Major General, and the military achievements he accumulated would be sufficient for the next promotion to Lieutenant General. During this period, he had fought in numerous battles.
As Xie Yu counted, he couldn’t help but break into a cold sweat. Over the past eight years, he had faced interstellar pirates numerous times. How many times had the entire Imperial Army dealt with interstellar pirates? Moreover, with each battle, many interstellar pirates were eliminated. Why were there still countless interstellar pirates emerging?
Interstellar pirates were not a replenishable resource like water. Could it be that he, or rather the Lyte Empire, had underestimated the true threat of interstellar pirates?
Or perhaps, those politicians in the central star, who were busy with their political maneuvers, were not as clean as they seemed?
Seeing Xie Yu’s unpleasant expression, Pei An took the initiative to grasp Xie Yu’s wrist, while the other hand patted his shoulder. “Don’t worry, let’s take one thing at a time.”
It was hard to imagine how uncomfortable Xie Yu must be feeling, thinking that what he believed was safeguarding the homeland and the nation had not achieved the expected results.
Not only Xie Yu was feeling uneasy, but Lika and the others were also not at ease. They didn’t know the details, but couldn’t they understand what Xie Yu was saying? All of them were intelligent military talents, so who couldn’t comprehend this situation?
Pei An looked around, seeing everyone downcast. He took the initiative to change the topic. “Alright, stop looking so mournful. You all came to my house for a meal joyfully. If you return with such expressions, won’t both Xie Yu and I be in trouble? Learn from Li Chengrui’s attitude. He eats and drinks merrily without a care in the world.”
Indeed, among the demon people, Li Chengrui was as stable as Mount Tai. He ate and drank what he should, and he truly didn’t let things bother him.
Lika couldn’t help asking, “How do you stay so calm?”
Li Chengrui raised his chopsticks, looking serious. “I can predict fortunes. Before I went out today, I divined a hexagram—an auspicious one.”
Lika, who had never seen feudal superstitions in action, suddenly became interested. “What did your hexagram say?”
Li Chengrui put on an air of a knowledgeable sage. “Today, I divined a single character—’Ren,’ meaning to go wherever one pleases, with sails high and free.”
Lika was bewildered. “What does that mean?”
Pei An burst into laughter. “He’s just talking nonsense. Do you really believe him?”
Lika, shocked, said, “Brother, you’re too much! You actually fooled me like this?”
Li Chengrui clasped his hands, sincerely saying, “Brother, I didn’t expect you to believe it!”
Lika was dumbfounded. “You don’t know how to predict fortunes, and you tricked me like this?”
Li Chengrui said seriously, “Because I believe in Pei An!”
Lika was left speechless.
Ye Xiuze reacted quickly, smiling, “Well, we also trust the command.”
Even if the road ahead is dark and unpredictable, with a guiding light shining, sooner or later, it will illuminate the long and endless night.
Lika’s sincere emotions were misplaced on Li Chengrui, the fake charlatan. However, her mood improved, and the emotions of the others, after Li Chengrui’s performance, were swept away. They became happy again, and since there were still some ingredients left from the hotpot, they decided to cook and eat some more.
Pei An was the host, but it was Lika’s group who ended up washing the dishes.
Cooking hotpot at home has one drawback—it’s painful to clean up afterward. Just dealing with two pots is troublesome, not to mention the oily bowls, chopsticks, and plates. The kitchen sink can’t handle so much, and they have to wash them in batches.
Eating without doing any chores is not something they can afford. So, after dinner, they took on the responsibility of washing dishes, mopping the floor, and other hygienic tasks.
Pei An sat on the sofa, holding a half-empty can of beer, occasionally glancing at the kitchen.
“Why do you keep watching them?” Xie Yu asked.
Pei An replied, “I’m afraid they’re not used to doing housework and might drop my tableware.”
However, with Iruie, who is a frequent kitchen user, overseeing them, such a comical situation should not occur.
“Don’t think everyone is good at doing household chores. If there’s Pei An, the kitchen assassin, there naturally can be kitchen thugs who drop plates and dishes,” Xie Yu said casually.
“If they can’t even handle these plates, they should self-consciously undergo additional training when they return,” he added.
“If they can’t even handle these plates, doesn’t that mean they have muscle weakness? They’ll need additional training,” Pei An said.
Looking at the time, Pei An remarked, “It’s not early anymore. After they leave, you should go wash up and sleep. Tomorrow, we have to set off to the Administrative Office. You probably won’t have time to come back for a short while.”
Xie Yu pursed his lips and said, “Pei An, are you trying to drive me away?”
Pei An replied with some irritation, “Xie Yu, are you accusing me? I’m clearly concerned about your rest time, can’t you see?”
After a glance at the time, Pei An continued, “It’s getting late. After they leave, you should quickly go wash up and sleep. Tomorrow, we’ll be heading to the Administrative Office. I doubt you’ll have time to come back anytime soon.”
Xie Yu pursed his lips and said, “Pei An, are you trying to drive me away?”
Pei An replied with some irritation, “Xie Yu, are you accusing me? I’m clearly concerned about your rest time, can’t you see?”
Xie Yu followed Pei An’s words with three consecutive “Alrights.” He looked up and saw that the group of people in the kitchen hadn’t come out yet.
“Pei An, after I leave, you have to stay in touch with Yurui often. We still have a lot of work that needs coordination. Do you agree?”
Pei An blinked. Xie Yu hadn’t even left yet, and he already seemed reluctant to part ways. I wonder if Xie Yu is reluctant to part with him or the omega he marked temporarily?
There is a big difference between the two.
“Why is Commander Xie in such a hurry? Once things are settled over there, I’ll also have to move with my people.”
After completely controlling the three small asteroids, including DS009, he would undoubtedly need to go to ML001, where the Administrative Office is located. After taking over the Moran Galaxy, their work became much more diversified than before. Clearly, to facilitate the continuation of their work, the organization needed to relocate to the Administrative Office and make use of the resources there.
Xie Yu forced a bitter smile, “Really can’t keep in touch often?”
Pei An lowered his gaze, avoiding looking at the disappointment in Xie Yu’s eyes, “Then you might as well be more proactive. Settle things quickly and come back to find me, or I can be more proactive and go join you sooner.”
Xie Yu’s eyes lit up again.
“Mr. Pei, we’ve finished cleaning up.” Ye Xiuzhe was the first to come out of the kitchen. “It’s getting late, so we won’t disturb you. We’ll leave first.”
“Mr. Pei, invite me next time you have hotpot!” Lika waved her hands, expressing her strong desire to be a guest again.
Pang Li, being more formal, sincerely thanked Pei An, “Mr. Pei, thank you for your hospitality tonight.”
Zhu Ge Yue, bold enough, dared to speak to Pei An in front of Xie Yu, “Mr. Pei, this person we’re commanding is quite good. You should consider it. When a man is mature, he should get married.”
Then Xie Yu pulled him and threw him out of the gate, saying, “Hurry back.”
Li Chengrui pushed his glasses, “Not disturbing your nightlife anymore, leaving.”
Pei An muttered, “If you don’t know how to talk, just shut up,” to Li Chengrui. What nightlife?
Iruie, holding a bottle of low-alcohol drink that could confuse even Losis, dragged Losis out, “See you, boss.”
After seeing them off and closing the door, Pei An turned around and almost bumped into Xie Yu’s arms.
Unconsciously, Xie Yu had moved behind him, and the two inadvertently closed the distance, a distance where they could smell each other’s faint pheromones.
“Pei An, I…”
Pei An tilted his head, with a hint of scrutiny in his eyes, “Hmm? What do you want to say?”
