Picking Up An Alpha On Garbage Star - Chapter 55
“DS009 has lowered the temperature. You should wear a scarf when going out,” Xie Yu took a scarf and moved to put it around Pei An’s neck.
Pei An covered the back of his neck and stepped back cautiously, wary of Xie Yu’s scarf in hand, “Wearing a scarf might affect the gland’s recovery. I won’t wear it. What if the scarf sheds?”
Xie Yu frowned, “I’ve looked it up. It won’t happen.”
Pei An retorted, “You know how to look up information, but who was it last night wanting to apply ointment for me?”
Xie Yu sighed helplessly, “An An, please, wear the scarf.”
Pei An refused to comply, firmly defending his neck, “I won’t!”
“Why don’t you want to wear the scarf?” Xie Yu was very serious. “Wearing a scarf won’t affect the healing of the gland wound.”
Pei An saw Xie Yu temporarily putting down the scarf and not attempting to put it on him again, so he said slowly, “If I wear a scarf, others won’t see it.”
Xie Yu froze, “What?”
Pei An stepped forward and hugged Xie Yu, “Xie Yu, after applying the scent blocker, no one will be able to smell your pheromone scent on me, or smell my pheromone scent on you. I just want everyone to know that we are together. Will you listen to me?”
Xie Yu had countless words stuck in his throat, unable to say them.
“Well then, before I leave for the warship, I’ll wrap the scarf around you,” Xie Yu still insisted on putting the scarf on Pei An.
This time, Pei An agreed, “It’s a deal.”
Before the departure time, Xie Yu and Pei An appeared as an ordinary couple, holding hands and walking into the icy and snowy landscape.
Snow had fallen all night, leaving accumulated snow by the roadside, and the trees were pure white, covering their original colors of trunk and branches.
The municipal robots had worked overtime to clear the accumulated snow on the road. Although the ground was wet and slippery, it did not hinder people’s travel.
“Xie Yu, have you never seen snow before?” Pei An turned around, plucked a handful of snow from a nearby plant, and stuffed it into Xie Yu’s palm, “Take a sniff. Does it smell like your pheromone?”
Xie Yu really put the snowball in front of his nose and sniffed, “It seems I can’t smell it.”
Pei An continued to roll the snowball, starting to shape it into a ball, “Your pheromone isn’t pure ice and snow; it has a faint plant scent. It smells much better than this simple snow.”
With his head down, Pei An revealed his neck, and an unmistakably bright red tooth mark fell into Xie Yu’s eyes.
This was a temporary mark he had made for Pei An, bitten deeply enough that it would take at least a week to heal. During this week, many, many people would see the mark on Pei An’s neck.
He was Pei An’s alpha, and except for him, no one else could leave such a mark on Pei An’s gland.
This realization made Xie Yu feel satisfied.
Pei An rolled three snowballs of varying sizes, stacked them together, and built a small snowman with two thin twigs folded as the snowman’s arms.
“Isn’t it cute?” Pei An held the snowman in front of Xie Yu and couldn’t hide the joy in his eyes.
“It’s not as cute as you.” Xie Yu touched Pei An’s hand, feeling cold, “Put it in your pocket and warm it up.”
Pei An’s eyes rolled around, “Xie Yu, crouch down a bit.”
Without asking why, Xie Yu did as Pei An asked and crouched down.
Pei An placed the small snowman on Xie Yu’s head. Xie Yu hadn’t cut his hair for a while now, and it wasn’t the short stubble he had when he first brought Xie Yu back; now it was fluffy. Pei An didn’t hold back last night.
The dense hair firmly anchored the small snowman on Xie Yu’s head, and as Pei An’s smile gradually widened, he pulled Xie Yu close and kissed him on the cheek, “You must not take it down, just like this.”
Xie Yu imagined that if someone saw him with a snowman on his head, his reputation might never recover, but the light in Pei An’s eyes made him feel that it didn’t matter. As long as Pei An was happy, he could do anything.
Moreover, Pei An was behaving so childishly for the first time, as if he was trying to find back the happy times he had missed.
Like a child.
“Come on, let me warm your hands.” Xie Yu held Pei An’s hands without hesitation, wrapping them in his warmth.
Enjoying the attentiveness of his boyfriend, the two slowly walked in the snowy field.
If it started snowing right now, they would walk all the way to old age.
Reluctant as he was, Xie Yu had to leave in the end. Pei An finally bid farewell to Xie Yu at the spaceport.
Accompanying Xie Yu back to Central Star this time were Ye Xiuzhe and Zhuge Yue. They were more adept at handling some matters than Lika and Pang Li.
“I’ll keep in touch frequently. Messages need to be relayed, so we won’t lose contact,” Xie Yu took out the scarf he had brought for Pei An when leaving and carefully wrapped it around him.
“Don’t take off the scarf when it’s cold. Be obedient,” Xie Yu gently pulled down Pei An’s restless hand.
Pei An stopped pulling the scarf and said obediently, “The scarf won’t be needed for long. I’ll be leaving tomorrow to find your main force.”
At that time, without a scarf blocking it, and even without thick clothes on the warship, he would still expose his neck.
“I’ll try to come back soon.” Xie Yu hugged Pei An, with a small snowball still on his head.
Pei An closed his eyes, leaning against Xie Yu’s arms. They had to part ways after a brief moment of tenderness, a rarity for a couple as miserable as them.
Though reluctant, it was already the designated departure time. Ye Xiuzhe still reminded, “Commander, we should go.”
Pei An’s eyelashes trembled. He took a deep breath, seemingly wanting to imprint Xie Yu’s scent deep into his soul.
“Go, and wait for your return.” Pei An voluntarily stepped back from Xie Yu’s embrace, retreating two meters back.
Reluctantly nodding his head, Xie Yu said, “Let’s go, board the ship.”
With Ye Xiuzhe and Zhuge Yue, Xie Yu boarded the Hades. Pei An watched him depart.
Even Lika felt a bit sorry, thinking their love story was more moving than any movie plot.
Xie Yu returned to Central Star with only the Hades. If it weren’t for the numerous tasks awaiting him this time, he would have just brought Ye Xiuzhe or Zhuge Yue. There was no need to bring both.
The Hades’ propulsion system started, and Pei An looked up as it ascended into the sky. He knew Xie Yu couldn’t see him from the bridge of the Hades, but he still raised his hand to wave goodbye.
Watching the Hades accelerate away from DS009, Pei An’s heart sank.
“Colonel Lika, inform them that we’ll also set off tomorrow.” Pei An adjusted the scarf Xie Yu had carefully wrapped around him, reverting to the calm and supportive Pei An.
“Yes!” Lika silently shook her head. See, there are advantages to being alone.
After seeing off Xie Yu, Pei An headed to the restaurant he had arranged with Li Chengrui. Today, he was going to hold Li Chengrui accountable and have a big meal.
Pei An arrived first, and Li Chengrui arrived a few minutes late, but he wasn’t alone. He brought someone Pei An recognized.
Joshua, one of the omegas he brought out from Jin Feng Yu Lu.
Pei An: “Li Chengrui, have you no shame? You’re how much older than Joshua?”
Li Chengrui didn’t like hearing that, “I’m only eight years older than Joshua. What’s wrong with eight years? There are even marriages where there’s an age difference of eighty years. Ours is just eight years.”
Pei An asked bluntly, “Tell me honestly, how did you hook up with Joshua?”
Li Chengrui really had some skills. How long had it been since he left DS009 before he got together with Joshua?
Joshua was still a young kid. Hearing Pei An say this, he covered his face with his hand quietly.
Li Chengrui scorned, “How can you call it hooking up? We genuinely fell in love with each other.”
The situation was actually quite simple. After surgery, Joshua recovered better. After adjusting his psychological state, he started helping Shu Mingya at the orphanage. Li Chengrui would occasionally visit the orphanage. On that day, he happened to meet Joshua.
He asked the people he knew at the orphanage about Joshua and learned that Joshua, like Fang Qin, had been rescued from Jin Feng Yu Lu as an omega. Moreover, the people at the orphanage praised Joshua endlessly, saying he was a very good omega and very popular at the orphanage.
Joshua was Li Chengrui’s ideal type, gentle and cute like an angel. Li Chengrui immediately fell for Joshua at first sight.
As a mature alpha, he would never miss such a good opportunity. Li Chengrui began to approach Joshua.
The closer he got to Joshua, the more Li Chengrui liked him. Soon after, he pursued Joshua.
Li Chengrui was definitely stable among the alphas. He didn’t make a big deal out of letting everyone know he was pursuing Joshua. Instead, he kept it low-key, expressing his intentions to Joshua. Li Chengrui even promised that if Joshua didn’t like him, he wouldn’t make Joshua feel troubled.
To be honest, after being forced to entertain at Jin Feng, Joshua had seen all kinds of alphas. However, none of those alphas had been gentle and considerate, nor had they cared about his feelings. They had only tortured him until he was covered in bruises and he wished he were dead.
By contrast, it was hard for Joshua not to feel affection for Li Chengrui.
But…
Having a child connected by blood is also very good.
Li Chengrui couldn’t help but give Pei An a thumbs-up. “Well, among us, you’re the best.”
Pei An accepted this praise without any false modesty.
The prices at this restaurant were high, but each portion of food was substantial, not the delicate type served in oversized plates. The three of them ordered five dishes, which were more than enough.
Upon learning that Pei An had returned to DS009, Ye Rui specially rushed over from ML001. It had been a long time since she had seen Pei An.
“Boss, you’re leaving tomorrow?” Ye Rui was reluctant.
Pei An, as usual, rubbed Ye Rui’s head gently. “Hmm, leaving tomorrow. Today we can still chat.”
Ye Rui was well aware of Pei An’s strong career drive. Moreover, now was indeed a rare opportunity; Pei An wouldn’t indulge in resting.
“Boss, I’ve organized all my work from this period. Take a look.” Ye Rui handed the holographic screen to Pei An. “Everything is going well, and I believe it will only get better.”
Pei An picked up the holographic screen, opened it, paused for a moment, then turned his head slightly and rubbed Ye Rui’s head again.
Before, Ye Rui had been somewhat wild and loved freedom, never making documents as neat and beautiful as this.
Ye Rui knew that Pei An was acknowledging her work, and she smiled happily.
Pei An looked through the work summary provided by Ye Rui. Indeed, everything was going well. If this trend continued, even if Central Star Xinghui regained consciousness one day, they would not be able to forcefully reassign the Moran Star System under authoritarian rule. The people of the Moran Star System were gradually becoming accustomed to the rights brought to them by the new administrative bureau.
And the schools—the schools in the Moran Star System had already begun to be tested. Once reforms took the first step, the second and third steps would not be far behind. The high cost of education would eventually be abolished, allowing more people to enjoy educational resources.
There were many other aspects, and Ye Rui wrote each one clearly.
“Our Ye Rui is becoming more mature and steady,” Pei An praised.
“Can this mature and steady Ye Rui ask Boss a tiny question?” Ye Rui gestured with her thumb and forefinger, “Really, just a tiny question.”
Pei An couldn’t help smiling. “Are you asking about my boyfriend?” After all, indoors he didn’t wear a scarf, and the presence of that tooth mark was quite prominent.
Ye Rui smirked, “Boss, I didn’t expect you to really find an alpha. Is that alpha good to you?”
Pei An’s gaze seemed distant, as if he could traverse time and space to chase after the encounter in the universe.
“He couldn’t be better, and no one could treat me better than him,” Pei An said helplessly. “You can rest assured, I won’t let anyone harm him.”
Ye Rui stuck out her tongue in response.
It would be great if Boss could find someone who treats him well.Â
The Dark God flew out of the Moran Star System, and Xie Yu, who had been standing in front of the console for a long time without moving, finally stirred.
He looked at the stellar map on the screen, reluctant to leave.
Getting farther and farther away from Pei An.
“Commander, can you stop being so absent-minded?” Zhuge Yue propped up her chin. “If you keep this up, I’ll take a picture and send it back to Director Pei for him to see.”
Xie Yu stood with his hands on his hips, ignoring Zhuge Yue.
Alpha like Zhuge Yue, who didn’t have a partner, wouldn’t understand his feelings.
Ye Xiuzhe was diligently wiping his lenses, only lifting his head when Zhuge Yue spoke. “Commander, we have three stellar hours left for transition.”
Xie Yu suddenly became alert. “Hmm, maintain current speed and proceed without acceleration.”
Although he wanted to hurry back to Central Star to clean up those bastards and return to Pei An as soon as possible, panicking wouldn’t help. He couldn’t jump back all the way, so it was better to conduct phased transitions according to the navigation route.
He would vomit even during consecutive jumps, let alone others.
Pei An was alone guarding the house tonight and suddenly felt that the bed beneath him was a bit too big.
Last night, when he and Xie Yu were messing around on this bed, he hadn’t thought it was too big; in fact, it felt a bit small. Now lying there alone, he felt it was very empty.
This Xie Yu guy really occupies his mind too much.
“Sleep, sleep.” Pei An shifted direction and wrapped himself in the blanket, forcing himself into a state of sleep.
In the Moran Star System, there’s Ye Rui and Chengrui; in the Locke Star System, there’s Pang Li. Pei An led the fleet with Lika and Haohao to meet Lin Biyan and the others.
“The Moran Star System is 258 legions away from our patrol sector. At normal speed, it will take seven days to travel. It will be quite boring during the journey. Director Pei, do you have anything you’d like to do? You can bring it onto the warship to pass the time,” Lika, with extensive experience floating in space, suggested, “Really, finding something to do will make time pass faster.”
They would play cards or something when they were bored, as there weren’t many entertainment options on the warship; they had to find ways to make the days less boring themselves.
“Oh, I’ve had a few other ideas recently. I might be in the lab most of the time. You’ll be in charge of commanding the team,” Pei An also suddenly remembered.
Although the Stellar Organization possessed many new types of weapons, they were not immune to the suppression of the Lyte Empire in terms of military strength. However, that was about it—they did not have weapons powerful enough to intimidate the rulers of Central Star.
He thought, they needed to research interstellar missiles capable of striking across star systems.
Since entering the interstellar age, the range of missile strikes had far surpassed those of his previous life. Currently, the longest-range missiles could strike across an entire star system, from one end to the other of the galaxy.
However, creating such high-powered missiles was not as simple as it seemed, and… the Lyte Empire did not possess nuclear weapons.
This world was different from his previous world; in the ancient Earth era, there were no five major powers, and the absence of nuclear weapons was not significant.
When others lacked something, it was best to have it oneself. Pei An had long initiated a nuclear weapons development program, and progress was good so far. Once the technology matured further, they would possess a significant arsenal of threatening nuclear weapons, with missiles carrying these nuclear warheads being essential.
They were already short on manpower; everyone was working on more than one research project simultaneously. He could only seize every opportunity he had to work hands-on.
“Lika, I have a question for you,” Pei An asked amidst Lika’s shocked expression of “why your hair doesn’t fall out despite your dedication to work.” “Suppose, hypothetically, you raided interstellar pirates. Would you need to turn over the seized property?”
“Huh?” Lika paused. “In the past, we’ve always fought interstellar pirates to the death, never had a chance to seize their money. To transfer their funds, we’d need them alive to authenticate.”
“No need to turn it over,” Pei An smiled faintly. “As long as we can access their accounts, leave the property transfer to me.”
More important than the assets in the pirates’ accounts were the resources they controlled. Money could be spent, but controlling the revenue streams was crucial for their confidence.
“Director Pei, are you planning to rob interstellar pirates?” Lika wondered if this was something their regular army should be doing.
“Why not?” Pei An replied.
Lika applauded, “Absolutely! That’s so doable!”
Just thinking about how they’d strike it rich after robbing interstellar pirates!
Ho ho ho ho ho ho!Â
Pei An had no choice; after all, who wouldn’t want to become rich overnight?
Author’s note:
I really want to write the next chapter where they reunite…
