- Playing the Foolish Beauty in a Deadly Game
- Chapter 6 - What? What a Helpless Effort
The men in black suits couldn’t maintain their composure. They were ordinary NPCs in this world, and naturally, they would be skeptical upon hearing such an absurd statement. However, as Yan Ting’s loyal subordinates, they chose to believe after a brief moment of doubt.
The players were even more convinced than the men in black suits. After all, they knew this was a horror game. Moreover, the bodyguard player had once said that killing Yan Ting to take control of the plane would not only fail to end the mission, but the players’ fate would be even worse. Coupled with the players’ initial suspicion that “escaping” was not about fleeing from the hijackers but for another reason, Yan Ting’s revelation now made perfect sense. No wonder Yan Ting, the big boss, couldn’t wait and had to hijack the plane; every minute and second was precious.
Lin Qiao, on the other hand, began to focus on the identities of the players. They were either bodyguards, lovers, or crew members. Even the passengers’ identities were useful professions in the apocalypse, such as doctors, engineers, and hackers. This was to ensure that the players stayed on the plane as much as possible and were not abandoned.
Lost in thought, Lin Qiao accidentally fell backward into the airplane seat, his head catching sight of a blonde boy hiding under the seat in front of him. He remembered who this boy was; when he had just woken up, Yan Ting had forced him to point a gun at a mother and her child. This boy was the son of that couple, with golden hair, emerald green eyes, and an unusually thin and sickly-looking physique, around eleven or twelve years old. The boy, terrified and pale, was about to scream when Lin Qiao covered his mouth. Lin Qiao gestured with his finger and whispered, “Shh.” The boy nodded, a fleeting glint of something dark crossing his eyes.
After getting up, Lin Qiao pretended as if he hadn’t seen anything and used his body to block the seat, unaware that this action was noticed by the brown-haired man who had been watching him. The brown-haired man caught a glimpse of something golden and immediately thought of something, a smile curling at the corner of his mouth.
Now that the plot of the game level was clear, as the bodyguard player had said, it was a low-star game level with not much difficulty; one just needed to follow the NPCs to get through.
Yan Ting instructed, “Identify the useful passengers; the rest will be let go at the next airport.” Yan Ting didn’t mention keeping secrets. He had a gun, which was absolute power. At this moment, no player spoke about how passengers’ lives were important and that they couldn’t abandon each other, and so on. After all, in this situation, it was hard enough to survive oneself. However… that male lover seemed to be a saint; he wouldn’t mess things up, would he? Everyone turned to look at Lin Qiao, who was bewildered.
The system coldly reminded: “Character.”
Oh, oh, character, right. Lin Qiao went over and planted a kiss on Yan Ting’s face, then added a sweet smile. “Fool, saint character.” Lin Qiao was stunned, realizing it and feeling helpless, he quickly tried to make up for it: “Don’t, don’t tell the passengers, right?”
The female lover player was speechless: “The space on the plane is so limited, and food and water are limited. If you starve to death, you’ll be food for everyone.”
Lin Qiao’s voice became smaller: “So that’s how it is.”
Yan Ting, however, let out a soft laugh, his snake-like eyes scanning Lin Qiao up and down, then he leaned close to Lin Qiao’s ear and nipped it: “There will be someone who leaks information.”
The female lover, the woman in the dark green dress, rolled her eyes and, without knowing where she got it from, brought a glass of whiskey, walking gracefully: “Sir, are you thirsty? This wine tastes good.”
Lin Qiao’s alarm bells rang; he didn’t care about what Yan Ting’s words meant. He was nervous not because of the female lover’s jealousy, but because he remembered that the female lover player had once said: she wanted to put some strange medicine to make Yan Ting sleep with the male lover who was suspected to be a player.
Lin Qiao immediately grabbed Yan Ting’s wine glass and gulped it down. He then put on a show and said: “First… Mr. Yan Ting is mine, get away!”
Lin Qiao was dizzy from the alcohol, unable to discern the expressions of the others, only hearing Yan Ting’s laughter. There was also the system’s exasperated voice: “Does it matter whether you drink it or Yan Ting drinks it? You’re going to be slept with anyway.”
Right, right. Lin Qiao began to call out randomly in his mind: “System brother, isn’t there still you? Can you do it?”
“……Helpless with good intentions.”
“Ah? I didn’t mean that, you, you are the system, can you help make that medicine ineffective?”
Lin Qiao muttered, his consciousness becoming more and more vague. Lin Qiao fell asleep, and when he woke up again, the first thing he regained was his hearing; someone was discussing him.
“Damn it, so fair and tender, I don’t know if I can ever sleep with someone like that in my lifetime.”
“I didn’t know you were interested in guys. When did this happen? Be careful, or Mr. Yan Ting will chop off your lower part.”
“I’m just thinking, do you think he’s not tender?”
“The waist is also thin, like a woman’s…”
Lin Qiao was embarrassed; he did have muscles, just not very obvious, but he really had abs.
Lin Qiao decided to make a sound first to let everyone know he was awake, to avoid further embarrassment, so he moved and hummed a few times.
Everyone indeed stopped talking, but after a moment of silence, a few curses were heard.
“C! This voice, damn it…”
Lin Qiao slept in first class, and when he rubbed his eyes and got out of bed, he indeed saw the men in black, but their faces were all unnatural.
Lin Qiao poked the system in his mind: “What’s wrong with them?”
“Don’t you know?”
Lin Qiao intended to make a joke, suddenly remembering something, he pulled open his collar and looked, there was no trace at all, it seemed the system was still quite useful.
“She didn’t put the medicine.”
Lin Qiao: “Tsk…”
Just at that moment, the bodyguard player Zhong Minglang came over to call people: “Pick up the weapons, someone is causing trouble.”
As he passed Lin Qiao, he scolded: “And you, put on your clothes.”
Lin Qiao put on Yan Ting’s overcoat again and followed the men in black outside.
It turned out that the Iceland airport had arrived. After the captain announced the landing time, he said that passengers could leave on their own, but he didn’t mention the sun.
Yan Ting and the players only had forty-five minutes to collect various living supplies and store fuel. When everyone was ready, the passengers in the economy class caused a commotion. They didn’t know where they had heard the truth from and demanded an explanation from the captain.
When Lin Qiao arrived, the men in black were confronting the passengers, and everyone on the plane was controlled by Yan Ting again.
“We have so many people here, and they only have a dozen. Don’t be afraid!”
“But, but they have guns.”
“If what they say is true, then wouldn’t that mean we’re being sent to our deaths?”
“I don’t believe it anyway. If the sun had really mutated like that, there would have been news by now, right? Don’t believe what a bunch of lunatics say.”
In the argument, the female lover frowned: “Who told the passengers about the sun mutation?”
Lin Qiao suddenly remembered Yan Ting’s whisper in his ear; he felt that this kind of thing was within Yan Ting’s expectation.
The brown-haired man stood up and said: “It’s him! That little lover of Lin Qiao! I saw him talking to that blonde kid.”
