Pregnant With The Pup Of A Wealthy Old Man - Chaoter 4
Shen Yunxing, feeling nauseous, managed to force down a few bites of food. Unable to bear it any longer, he pushed the plate of red-cooked pork, of which he’d only taken a few bites, toward the young boy next to him, who had been staring hungrily at his food.
“I used my own spoon, without touching it with my mouth.”
“It’s fine, I don’t mind.” While eating, Lu Bai muttered unclearly.
Liu Yi, in charge of cooking for the production crew, was brought in by Director Qin. Her cooking skills were impressive—Sichuan cuisine, Cantonese cuisine, hot pot dishes, and even Western cuisine were all within her expertise.
On the day Shen Yunxing arrived, he ate two large bowls of rice with the red-cooked pork Liu Yi made. But within just two days, he’d grown tired of it. Even the smell wasn’t appealing anymore.
Feeling like a storm inside his stomach, Shen Yunxing clutched his belly, his face as pale as paper.
“Yunxing, why do you look so awful?” A young lady from the writing department approached him, concerned about the scene. Seeing his ghastly appearance, she was taken aback and immediately urged, “If you’re feeling sick, go back and rest. We can shoot this scene tomorrow. I’ll let Director Qin know, so you don’t have to go out of your way.”
Feeling quite uncomfortable, Shen Yunxing didn’t decline her kind offer.
“Thank you, Zhao Jie.”
His weak voice expressed his gratitude as he left the scene with Lu Bai’s assistance to go rest.
Qin Zheng’s production was located halfway up Wucheng Mountain. Down the hill was a farmhouse restaurant named “Relax and Eat,” owned by Tang Che.
“Sorry, bro, something came up unexpectedly. I won’t be able to make it until tomorrow.” Tang Che pleaded on the phone with a hint of submission. “About that incident where I brought the red eggs to your company last time, I admit my behavior was inappropriate. I sincerely apologize to you. Please forgive me this time, Brother Fu.”
Fu Tingzhou raised an eyebrow, “You’ve turned my company upside down, making everyone think I secretly got married and had a child. Do you think a few words from you will suffice?”
“I didn’t investigate thoroughly about that matter. I thought you and Mingyuan had formed a solid relationship, and I wanted to celebrate. Who would’ve thought there was someone else, and not even Tang Mingyuan!”
Tang Che’s tone carried a tinge of regret. If Tang Mingyuan truly became Fu Tingzhou’s partner, then he would have to address Tang Mingyuan as his big brother during family gatherings. Just thinking about it excited him!
“It’s not happening. I’m curious about that person you’re hiding; there must be something fishy going on.”
Fu Tingzhou pretended not to hear and shifted the topic to Tang’s grandfather.
“How’s it going with Grandfather Tang? Have you talked to him?”
“How could I dare? Every time I visit, the old man scolds me. If he finds out the girl he introduced me to last time fell through again, he’ll be furious!”
Tang Che was immediately wary when it came to Tang’s grandfather.
“Well, I’m interested in knowing who that person is. You’re concealing it so tightly; there must be something going on.”
He hung up the phone, feeling relieved.
Tang’s grandfather had poor health, and “Relax and Eat” was specially built by Tang Che to express his filial piety toward the old man.
Even though Tang’s grandfather wasn’t pleased that his only grandson hadn’t settled down and left him with just a couple of great-grandchildren, he cherished his grandson. When he heard that his grandson had built a farmhouse restaurant just for him, he immediately moved in, practically without any persuasion.
Fu Tingzhou and Tang Che grew up together in the same alley, with close family ties. Tang’s grandfather treated him like a half-grandson, much like Tang Che was treated at Fu’s place. Furthermore, due to an event in his early twenties, he had come to consider Tang’s grandfather as part of his own family.
Over the years, no matter how busy he was with work, he took two days off each month to visit Tang’s grandfather at the farmhouse.
“Tingzhou is here.” As soon as Fu Tingzhou entered the house, Tang’s grandfather greeted him and said, “Come and help me figure out my next move.”
Tang’s grandfather enjoyed playing chess and had recently started surfing the internet. He could play chess with his online friends without leaving home, which brought him immense joy. Hearing that his grandson had specially set up a farmhouse restaurant for him brought him even more happiness. Without any resistance, he settled in and brought his belongings.
Fu Tingzhou considered the position and pointed it out.
“Here.”
“Ah, why didn’t I think of that? Getting old is no good; it seems I have to accept it.” Tang’s grandfather, having won against his chess friend, chuckled and pulled Fu Tingzhou over to show him his past victories.
“Old Li wasn’t good enough; I just beat him twice. But he’s still mad at me, thinking it’s all because of my recent luck.”
Fu Tingzhou looked at the screen full of continuous victories, feeling both amused and helpless.
“Grandfather, this isn’t just twice; you’ve won ten games in a row. It’s not easy for Li to be okay with this.”
Tang’s grandfather laughed heartily upon hearing this, but his relationship with his old chess friend couldn’t remain strained like this. So, he asked Fu Tingzhou to pay 100 yuan and credit 1 million beans to Li’s account.
This move vexed Tang’s grandfather; he even complained as he walked out for a stroll after lunch.
“I have only 600,000 beans in my wallet, while Old Li has a million! Not acceptable. I must win some back today; otherwise, that old guy will be bragging again.”
“Be careful not to win too much
, or Old Li will get mad again.” Fu Tingzhou advised with a smile.
Tang’s grandfather raised an eyebrow, “Humph, Old Li is terrible at chess and has an even worse temper.”
Fu Tingzhou accompanied him for a stroll, passing by a chess society. There, Tang’s grandfather saw Old Li showing off his newly acquired 1 million beans. Enraged, he rolled up his sleeves and marched over.
“You old rascal, you were supposed to take a nap just now. Instead, you’re showing off here! Fine, if I don’t take all the beans from you today, I’m not surnamed Tang!”
“Fine, let’s do it. Who’s afraid of whom? I just had bad luck that day. Today, I’m waiting for you to make my Tang family even more glorious. Hahaha—”
Seeing Tang’s grandfather playing chess with Old Li, Fu Tingzhou discerned the hidden exhaustion beneath the young boy’s smile and furrowed his brows.
“Director Qin, there’s a man in a suit in the shot.” The camera operator pointed at a small, blurry figure and said.
Qin Zheng frowned but realized that it didn’t affect the overall shot. He decided to leave it as is and let post-production slightly blur the figure further.
