Pregnant With The Pup Of A Wealthy Old Man - Chapter 11
Yang, the secretary, carried two cups of coffee into the office and overheard her boss talking to Dr. Liu, apparently discussing something related to pregnancy and unreliable men.
Yang paused her steps, pretending to have some documents to organize, and lingered around the desk, not wanting to leave.
“So, what you’re saying is, you accused someone without clarifying the situation, and then you realized you weren’t wrong because that man didn’t show up, and you think it’s his fault?” Fu Tingzhou said expressionlessly.
“Tsk, I admit I should have clarified things, but that man isn’t a good person either. He left a young girl alone at the hospital for a whole day without even making a phone call in the middle,” Dr. Liu said, annoyed as he recalled the situation. “Getting a young boy to impregnate a girl and then refusing responsibility afterward, if that’s not an unreliable man, what is?”
“How do you know he didn’t want to take responsibility? Didn’t you say the baby’s other father didn’t know about this?” Fu Tingzhou disagreed, looking at his friend disapprovingly. “These are just your subjective assumptions.”
Listening to this juicy gossip, Yang, the secretary, walked away feeling satisfied. In this day and age, unreliable men were all too common; they would sweet-talk their way into someone’s life and then turn their backs once they got what they wanted.
She didn’t care about subjective assumptions. If it were up to her, any man who left his partner alone at the hospital without a call would be labeled as an unreliable man like Chen Shimei.
“Ah Choo—”
Fu Tingzhou, who had been branded as an unreliable man, sneezed unexpectedly.
“It’s getting cooler; be careful,” Dr. Liu expressed his concern.
“Oh, by the way, any progress with that person in your life?”
The person sitting in the boss’s chair finally reacted.
“He won’t,” Fu Tingzhou said.
“How do you know he won’t?” Dr. Liu teased him about his earlier comments.
“These young boys nowadays are quite promiscuous. I saw a guy yesterday with his left arm around his girlfriend and his right hand secretly holding another guy’s hand behind his back. Relationships are quite complicated these days,” Dr. Liu provocatively mentioned to tease his friend. However, Fu Tingzhou didn’t react and continued to sign the document with a pen, writing as neatly and uniformly as if it had come from a photocopier.
As he left, Dr. Liu gave his friend a flying kiss and added one last tease before closing the office door.
With the door shut, Fu Tingzhou put down his pen. The slightly furrowed brow indicated his current displeasure.
When they had met at Wucheng Mountain, he had left his contact information for the other person, but over a month had passed, and his personal phone had remained silent.
Could it be that his intentions hadn’t been clear enough? Fu Tingzhou, with a blank romantic history, furrowed his brow deeply.
Thinking about contact information, that day, Shen Yun Xing had taken out his business card, looked at it once, and then tossed it into the trash can. At the time, he was just venting his frustration, but now that he wanted to contact the person, he regretted his actions.
Shen Yun Xing lay back on the bed, staring at a spot on the ceiling.
To keep the baby, there were too many things to consider. He hadn’t even mentioned his parents yet. He needed to find an excuse to move out and live elsewhere for a while, to avoid raising suspicions.
He also needed to apply for a leave of absence from school; otherwise, as his belly grew bigger every day, he would struggle to keep up with his studies.
Dr. Liu had mentioned his poor constitution; he couldn’t afford to live poorly. However, in Yun City, space was limited, and he couldn’t possibly provide a healthy and comfortable environment for the baby on his own.
“What should I do? Is there any way to contact him?”
Shen Yun Xing muttered to himself.
Directly going to the company to find him? But he had no idea where Fu Group was located.
After a moment of daze, he suddenly got up from the bed, grabbed his phone, and opened Weibo to search for Fu Group.
Two minutes later, Shen Yun Xing’s eyes lit up.
“I found it!”
He then took out pen and paper, meticulously copying down the address and contact information.
“Beep, beep…”
With nervous anticipation, Shen Yun Xing dialed the phone number. The beeping continued for nearly ten seconds, and then the call was finally answered.
“Hello, this is Fu Group’s Information Department. How can I assist you?”
The woman’s voice on the other end was clear and pleasant, not a robotic tone without emotion, which relieved Shen Yun Xing.
“Hello, I’d like to speak to Mr. Fu Tingzhou. Could you please relay the message for me?”
“Sir, how should I address you?” The other person politely inquired.
“Shen Yun Xing.”
“Mr. Shen, do you have an appointment?”
Shen Yun Xing’s heart sank. It seemed that calling was not going to work, but he couldn’t give up so easily; he had to give it a try.
“No, but I know Mr. Fu personally. If you mention my name to him, he will definitely meet with me.”
“Mr. Shen, I’m sorry, but Mr. Fu’s schedule is very busy every day. Without an appointment, we can’t arrange a meeting for you. If you know Mr. Fu personally, why don’t you just call his private number?”
The attitude of the person on the other end had changed quite a bit, and she directly questioned him without much politeness.
Shen Yun Xing couldn’t provide an answer. After a moment of silence, he hung up the phone.
It seemed that calling wasn’t going to work. So, he had no choice but to go to Fu Group’s building in person.
He lay back on the bed, searched for Fu Group’s location using a map app, and prepared the route.
“Good night,” he hesitated for a moment, then whispered softly.
The next day,
Shen Yun Xing arrived at the entrance of Fu Group before 8:30 AM. He didn’t know when Fu Tingzhou would arrive for work, so he decided to arrive early and wait at the entrance.
At 8:50 AM, employees began to clock in for work. Shen Yun Xing, carrying a backpack, crouched on one side of the entrance, carefully scanning the crowd.
“Look at that, we have a handsome mushroom growing at the company’s entrance,” one girl said, covering her mouth and whispering to her friend.
“He doesn’t seem very old, probably waiting for someone,” another girl with short hair said as she approached Shen Yun Xing.
“Hello, are you waiting for someone?”
Seeing him nod, the girl with short hair continued with a smile, “You can wait in the lobby; it’s too hot outside, and you might get heatstroke.”
Shen Yun Xing’s cheeks were reddened from the sun, and after crouching for a long time, the baby in his belly was causing him discomfort, occasionally causing twinges of pain.
He had been afraid of missing Fu Tingzhou, which is why he chose to wait at the entrance. But now, in hindsight, he realized how foolish that was. After all, Fu Tingzhou was the boss; he wouldn’t be using the employee entrance.
“Thank you,” he said to the girl, expressing his gratitude before entering the building. He took the elevator down to the basement parking lot.
He recognized Fu Tingzhou’s car and remembered the license plate number. He hoped that Fu Tingzhou was driving the same car today and hadn’t switched vehicles.
Meanwhile, Fu Tingzhou, completely unaware of this situation, was on the phone in his office.
“Mr. Fu, can you consider increasing it by one percentage point? To be honest, I have no intentions of dealing with Ruijia, but we have hundreds of employees who need to make a living,” the voice on the other end of the line was oily and obsequious, revealing greed.
“Mr. Fu, I know you have a history with Jiarui. If Jiarui acquires the company, you…”
The caller wanted to probe further, but Fu Tingzhou had run out of patience. He interrupted, saying, “Tell Jiarui that Fu Group is pulling out.”
After hanging up, he paid no more attention to the matter. If they knew about his history with Jiarui, they should understand that he acquired Wanxing because he had an issue with Jiarui and intended to give them trouble. As for Wanxing itself, he had never truly cared about it.
“What’s on the agenda for today?” he asked his secretary, who was standing nearby.
“We have a lunch appointment with Mr. Liu at noon, a golf game with Mr. Chen at four, and an overseas conference at eight,” she replied.
Nodding, he finished up his current tasks, held a half-hour meeting with his management team, and then left on schedule to attend the lunch appointment.
“Boss, there seems to be someone in front of the car,” his secretary alerted him when they reached the underground parking lot.
Furrowing his brows, he moved ahead, shielding his secretary. As he approached and saw the person’s face clearly, his expression subtly changed.
“Yun Xing? What are you doing here?” His secretary looked surprised as she gazed at the pale-faced young man.
Shen Yun Xing, huddled up, had waited here for two hours before finally seeing the person he was waiting for.
He looked up at the man in front of him, and the pent-up grievances within him solidified into tangible weight, falling to the ground and into Fu Tingzhou’s heart.
