- Pregnant With The Pup Of A Wealthy Old Man
- Chapter 25 - He's Not My Boyfriend
Aunt Sun cooked a table full of dishes for dinner, and Shen Yunxing enjoyed every one of them. After putting down his chopsticks, his slightly protruding belly looked even rounder.
After dinner, he went for a walk with Mr. Fu as usual, and near the backyard garden, they encountered Mrs. Liu, who had previously given him tea leaves.
“Xiaoyunxing, it’s been a few days since we last met, do you still remember grandma?” Mrs. Liu grabbed his hand and joked.
“Of course, I remember. The tea you gave me last time was delicious, and I really liked it,” Shen Yunxing said with a smile.
“Good to hear,” Mrs. Liu squinted and smiled, then noticed Mr. Fu standing straight behind him. She pulled Shen Yunxing aside a few steps.
“Xiaoyunxing, your partner seems quite difficult to get along with. He hasn’t bullied you at home, has he?”
Shen Yunxing was momentarily stunned. He glanced back at Mr. Fu, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment.
“Grandma, he’s not my partner.”
Mrs. Liu patted his hand gently and said kindly, “Child, you don’t have to hide it from grandma. Grandma is experienced and can see through it, can’t I?”
But they really weren’t in that kind of relationship. Thinking about it, he felt a little sad all of a sudden.
“Grandma, isn’t it strange for two men to be together?” After a moment of silence, he asked.
“What’s so strange about it? Choosing who to be with is your freedom. Others have no right to interfere. As long as you don’t harm anyone else, there’s nothing wrong with being with a man,” Mrs. Liu replied.
“My son-in-law is also a man. Both of them work in the aviation manufacturing company and contribute to the country.” Mrs. Liu’s voice was loud, and she looked proud, showing no intention of hiding anything.
“Liujie, Xiaoyunxing, good evening.” Mrs. Zhang happened to pass by and pulled Mrs. Liu over, asking, “Liujie, when is your son coming back? My grandson really liked the aviation model that Uncle Song gave him last time. He’s been clamoring to give Uncle Song a gift in return.”
Upon hearing this, Mrs. Liu smiled brightly.
“He’s coming back. He called a few days ago and said he had three days off, so he can come back and stay with me for two days.”
“Oh, that’s great. Is Xiao Cai coming too?”
Mrs. Liu nodded with a smile.
“The two kids have been inseparable since they were in school, and later they even chose to work together. It’s been more than ten years, and their relationship is still so good,” Mrs. Zhang sighed, “Unlike my son, who has been divorced three times and still can’t settle down.”
“Don’t worry, Xiaozhao is still young. Things will get better in the future. Mingzhe and Siyuan used to quarrel a lot when they were in school. At one point, they didn’t contact each other for several months.”
Mrs. Liu tried to comfort Mrs. Zhang, but Mrs. Zhang couldn’t help feeling that she was being bragged to. Her expression turned unpleasant.
“I’ve been out for so long, and my son, that good-for-nothing, still hasn’t seen me for so long. He must be causing trouble again. Liujie, you continue shopping, I’ll go back first.” Mrs. Zhang smiled and said, turning around, her expression suddenly deflated.
“It’s not about appearances, Xiaoyunxing. Remember, life isn’t lived for others to see. People’s mouths belong to them. Let them say what they want. As long as you’re happy, that’s enough,” Mrs. Liu said with a solemn tone.
Shen Yunxing nodded. “Grandma, I understand.”
“You’re a good kid. Your partner looks nice too. A man who comes out to walk with you every day can’t be bad.”
“Yeah, Mr. Fu is very good to me.” He flashed a cute dimple at her.
Mrs. Liu had never seen such a beautiful child before. She took several photos with him before letting him go.
“Oh, almost forgot about little Fu. Come on, let grandma take a picture of you two.”
Fu Tingzhou stood by, his legs almost numb, but he showed no impatience. His gaze on the young man remained as gentle as ever.
Grandma Liu nodded in satisfaction, gesturing for the two to come closer.
Shen Yunxing took a small step towards Mr. Fu, and when his shoulder touched the man’s strong chest, he dared not move any closer despite Grandma Liu’s prompting.
“Why are young people so shy nowadays? I’ll show you the photos I took of you and Uncle Song next time. If I hadn’t stopped him, he would have stuck to your Uncle Cai’s face like glue,” Grandma Liu scolded her son while teasing him.
Shen Yunxing also wanted to get closer to the man. He stole a glance at Mr. Fu beside him and saw that his expression was natural, not showing any signs of dislike. So, he plucked up the courage to wrap one of the man’s arms around his waist.
It was the first time he had been so intimate with someone in front of others, and Fu Tingzhou was momentarily stunned, his expression briefly blank.
“Xiaofu, you can’t be like this. You’re so handsome, but you always have a serious face. You should know how to smile, right?” Grandma Liu scolded.
“Sorry, I was lost in thought just now.”
Regaining his composure, Xiaofu reached out and pulled the young man tightly into his arms.
*Click* The moment was captured.
After saying goodbye to Grandma Liu, Shen Yunxing held onto his phone in his pocket, unwilling to let go. He even planned to have the photos printed and carry them with him.
…
Over the next few days, Shen Yunxing followed a routine. After breakfast with Mr. Fu, he watched him leave for work, then went back to bed in his bedroom while Mr. Fu was away. He went grocery shopping with Aunt Sun when he woke up, then went out to deliver lunch to Mr. Fu at eleven o’clock. After a nap, he accompanied Mr. Fu to work and then they went home together after work.
It might sound monotonous, but Shen Yunxing didn’t find it boring at all because whenever he looked up, he could see the person who made him happy.
The day of separation came quickly.
Shen Yunxing stood by the car window with the retail bag Mr. Fu had prepared for him, holding a small blanket and watching the man reluctantly.
“Mr. Fu, what if I run out of snacks?”
Seeing the young man looking at him hesitantly, Mr. Fu thought he had something important to say, but it turned out he was worried about running out of snacks, which made him feel a bit amused and helpless.
“I’ll give you a new snack pack every afternoon, so you don’t have to worry about running out,” he said with a smile.
Shen Yunxing’s eyes lit up. “Mr. Fu, are you going back to Lin’an City too?”
Seeing Mr. Fu nod, his previous disappointment disappeared instantly, and he happily showed off a pair of dimples.
“Mr. Fu, see you tomorrow.” He waved to the man and turned to drag his half-empty suitcase to the designated spot.
Shen Yunsu waited at the coffee shop outside Yuntian Drama for nearly half an hour before he saw his little brother dragging his suitcase.
“What’s making you so happy? You’re practically flying with those steps,” he walked over and said with a smile, “Give me the luggage.”
“No need, brother, I can handle it myself.” Shen Yunxing refused his brother’s help, put the luggage in the trunk, and smiled brightly at his brother, “I’m going home, so of course I’m happy.”
Shen Yunsu rubbed his brother’s head and asked, “How’s school? Are you still adjusting well? How’s your relationship with your classmates? I heard your school invited a lot of instructors for military training. How was it? Were they strict?”
“Brother, you’re asking so many questions at once, I don’t know which one to answer first,” Shen Yunxing said somewhat nervously.
He had been “taking care of the baby” at home these days and hadn’t participated in military training at all, so he had no idea how strict the instructors were.
“It’s all because brother has been too busy these days, otherwise I would have come to Yuntian to see you.” Shen Yunsu said somewhat guiltily.
“Brother, I’m eighteen now, I can take care of myself. But brother, when are you going to find me a sister-in-law?” He joked.
“You’re getting cheeky now, even daring to tease your brother.”
“It’s not teasing, it’s caring for you.” He said, looking at his brother’s tightly buttoned collar.
Since a while ago, he had felt something was off. He noticed that his brother, who usually left the top button of his shirt undone due to the tight collar, had buttoned it tightly today, making it hard to breathe just by looking at it.
When things are out of the ordinary, there must be a reason! His brother was definitely up to something!
However, the scene felt oddly familiar.
He took out a piece of cookie from the snack bag and crunched on it, then reflexively handed another piece to the person in the driver’s seat. It was only when his hand was already outstretched that he suddenly remembered that it was his brother, not Mr. Fu.
Shen Yunsu glanced at the various snacks in his brother’s bag and asked in surprise, “Since when did you become so fond of snacks?”
“Um, they were given by my roommate.”
“Li Mu?”
“Yeah, it’s him.”
“It seems like you get along well. When the vacation is over, I’ll treat you guys to a big meal.” Shen Yunsu felt relieved that his little brother had made friends so quickly.
“Okay.” He had already refused once, so he nodded and agreed this time to avoid arousing suspicion from his brother.
He hadn’t taken a nap yet today. During the two-hour journey ahead, Shen Yunxing felt drowsy. He took out the SpongeBob blanket from his bag and draped it over himself, closing his eyes to rest.
During the journey, his brother’s phone rang several times. Half-asleep, Shen Yunxing saw the caller ID showing “Troublemaker,” but before he could ask, he succumbed to sleepiness and fell asleep.
When he woke up, the car had just arrived downstairs.
“Did you sleep that heavily? Didn’t you sleep well last night?” Shen Yunsu asked worriedly.
“Yeah, the military training was exhausting,” Shen Yunxing lied to his brother.
His phone vibrated, it was a message from Mr. Fu.
【Mr. Fu】: Home now?
He was taken aback. How did Mr. Fu know he was home? Was he following his brother’s car the whole time?
Thinking about it, he craned his neck to look around, but unfortunately, he didn’t see Mr. Fu’s conspicuous Maybach anywhere.
“What are you looking at?” Shen Yunsu asked.
“I’m just checking if Mom is back.”
“Mom and Dad went to the station to pick up Auntie and Tingting. They probably won’t be back until around seven.”
Shen Yunxing was puzzled, “Why did they come today? Wasn’t it supposed to be on the second?”
“Auntie called this morning and said Tingting’s illness was getting worse, so they came early to avoid any accidents,” Shen Yunsu explained.
He nodded, as long as they didn’t stay at home, it didn’t matter when they came.
Thinking about it, he picked up his suitcase and went upstairs. After unpacking the few clothes inside, he lay down on the bed with his phone in hand to message Mr. Fu.
【Yunxing】: Mr. Fu, I was talking to my brother just now and didn’t have time to reply to your message.
【Mr. Fu】: It’s okay. Did you feel uncomfortable in the car?
Mr. Fu had said similar things many times before, but every time he heard it, his heart couldn’t help but beat faster.
【Yunxing】: I’m fine. By the way, Mr. Fu, how did you know I was home?
【Mr. Fu】: L*****, your brother’s license plate number.
Shen Yunxing’s eyes widened in shock.
Mr. Fu indeed followed his brother’s car!
He hugged his pillow and rolled over, then lay back on the bed, gently touching his slightly bulging stomach.
Baby, I miss Mr. Fu a little, what about you?
What do you think we should do to see Mr. Fu?
He stared at the ceiling for a while, then suddenly sat up and walked to the table, starting to dig snacks out of the snack bag.
“It should be almost empty.” He lifted his backpack and found it still a bit heavy, so he took out another handful.
“Okay.” He raised his phone and took a picture.
【Yunxing】: [Image] Mr. Fu, my snack bag is empty. It’s time to replace it with a new one.
His cheeks turned crimson, and after hesitating for a moment, he still didn’t dare to send out the second half of the message.
He nervously waited for Mr. Fu’s reply, but even when his brother called him downstairs for dinner, he still hadn’t received any WeChat message from the man. His mood instantly plummeted, and he barely touched his dinner.
“Why are you eating so little? Don’t the dishes suit your taste?” Shen Yunshu asked.
Shen Yunsu was about to answer when his phone suddenly lit up on the table.
【Mr. Fu】: Put on your coat and come downstairs, no running allowed.
He couldn’t help but smile.
“Brother, I’ll go out for a moment!”
After saying that, he put on a coat, then hurried out of the door.
Outside the community, Mr. Fu’s car was parked on the roadside. He looked at the silhouette of the man standing next to the car from a distance, his heart pounding uncontrollably.
“Mr. Fu!” He walked to the man’s side, slightly out of breath, his eyes filled with joy.
The boy’s eyes seemed to be shining, making it impossible to ignore. Mr. Fu raised his hand and ruffled the boy’s short hair, dispelling all fatigue.
“The new snack bag is in the car, go get it.”
Shen Yunxing didn’t move, he looked at the man with some reluctance and asked, “Is Mr. Fu leaving?”
“Yeah, I have an online meeting later.”
At these words, he drooped his head in disappointment and said, “Oh” in a despondent tone.
“But I still have time to have dinner with you.” Mr. Fu smiled.
Shen Yunxing’s eyes suddenly brightened again. After getting into the car and seeing the thermos on the seat, his mouth couldn’t help but curve upwards.
He looked at the man with shining eyes and asked, “Is Aunt Sun in Yuncity? Did Mr. Fu make these dishes?”
“I went to Liuchunyuan before coming here.” Mr. Fu looked at the boy’s clearly disappointed face and added, “Today’s a bit rushed, but I’ll cook for you next time.”
“Okay.” Shen Yunxing replied happily.
Even if it wasn’t made by Mr. Fu, as long as he could see Mr. Fu, he was ecstatic.
Opening the thermos, he felt touched when he saw the dishes inside.
Garlic vermicelli with bok choy and sweet and sour ribs, the aroma alone indicated that they were made by Boss Xu.
Last night before going to bed, he mentioned to Mr. Fu that he missed Boss Xu’s cooking, and he didn’t expect to eat it tonight.
With a joyful mood, he picked up a piece of fragrant rib and offered it to Mr. Fu’s lips: “Let’s eat together, Mr. Fu.”
The latter accepted it with a smile.
Shen Yunxing immersed himself in the joy of feeding Mr. Fu. When he received a message from Mrs. Shen urging him to come home, he felt somewhat annoyed that time passed too quickly, and he hadn’t spent enough time with Mr. Fu.
Seeing the boy’s reluctant and affectionate gaze, Mr. Fu’s heart softened completely.
“Let’s go back, there’s plenty of time tomorrow, I’ll take you to Liuchunyuan for dinner.” He gently stroked the boy’s black hair and said softly.
Shen Yunxing nodded, summoned up his courage, and hugged the man.
“Baby said he wanted to hug you just now, so I’m hugging you on his behalf.” After letting go, he blushed and made an excuse for himself.
Mr. Fu smiled. “Ask Baby if just one hug is enough?”
Shen Yunxing’s ears turned red, but he still mustered the courage to say, “Not enough.”
As the words fell, he was gently embraced by the man.
Their chests pressed tightly against each other, and he could clearly hear Mr. Fu’s strong heartbeat.
“Thump, thump—”
It made him both joyful and peaceful.
On the way back, Shen Yunxing’s cheeks were flushed. He stood outside his own door for a while, waiting for the excitement to subside before opening the door.
“There’s no spare room at home, and Tingting is still sick. We can’t let her, a girl, sleep in Yunxing’s room, that’s too inconvenient,” Mrs. Shen said.
“Sister-in-law, what you said isn’t right. Tingting is Yunxing’s cousin, and besides, it’s not like we’re asking the two kids to share a room. What’s so inconvenient about it? As for me, I’ll just bear with it and sleep on the couch,” Shen Yuhua sat on the sofa, peeling an orange. There were already quite a few orange peels on the coffee table in front of her.
“Oh, Yunxing’s back.” Hearing the door open, she greeted Shen Yunxing warmly.
“Auntie.”
“Hey, Yunxing is getting more and more handsome. People who live in big cities are indeed different. Isn’t that right, sister-in-law?” Shen Yuhua said sarcastically.
Shen Yunxing remained silent.
Shen Yunshu frowned as he listened from the side, and Mr. and Mrs. Shen didn’t look very happy either.
“If Tingting is sick, then take her to the hospital immediately. It’s not a good idea to stay at home,” Shen’s father said.
“Big brother is right, but hospitals like the Lin’an Central Hospital are not places where we locals can just walk in. We have to queue for registration, it’s troublesome,” Mrs. Shen said.
Shen Yuhua didn’t seem to be in a hurry at all, and her daughter Tingting didn’t look like she was seriously ill at all. Leaning against Shen Yuhua’s side, with an apple in one hand and snacks in the other, she ate with her mouth full.
Shen Yunxing noticed that Tingting was holding the snacks that Mr. Fu had bought for him. His head suddenly became hot, and he rushed forward to snatch the snacks.
“Who told you to rummage through my things?” he frowned.
Zhang Tingting didn’t react at first, but when she came to her senses and found that her snacks had been snatched away, she was furious.
“Mom, cousin stole my snacks!” She tilted her head back and complained to Shen Yulan in a sharp voice.
“Yunxing, is this how you treat your cousin? What’s the big deal if your cousin eats a bit of your snacks? Why are you so angry? Your snacks aren’t even that special, let alone imported,” Shen Yunlan didn’t treat herself as an outsider at all, instructing Shen Yunxing to take out the snacks. They weren’t anything rare, so there was no need to hoard them.
Shen Yunxing didn’t move. Even if they weren’t imported, each of these snacks was carefully selected by Mr. Fu for him, which meant a lot to him.
He wasn’t being stingy; he could share them with everyone, but it wasn’t right for Zhang Tingting, who was only half a year younger than him, to take them without asking.
“The chocolate is from Germany, the cake biscuits are from Malaysia, and the salted cashews are from Lebanon. There are labels on them. If you don’t believe me, you can Google it yourself,” he looked at the mother and daughter with a blank expression.
Shen Yuhua didn’t believe it at all. Her big brother had some money, but it wasn’t to the extent where they could casually eat imported snacks.
“Sister-in-law, is this the good son you’ve raised? He’s making up lies just to stop his sister from eating his snacks.”
“Mom,” Zhang Tingting tugged at her sleeve and whispered with a pale face, “I just checked, cousin didn’t lie, the snacks are really imported…” The piece of chocolate she had just eaten cost tens of dollars, and the jerky was even more expensive, costing hundreds more than her weekly living expenses!
Not only was Shen Yuhua shocked, but Shen’s father and mother also looked at their youngest son in surprise. Shen Yunshu had already known on the way back that his little brother’s snacks were not ordinary, so he wasn’t very surprised.
“Eat, eat, eat, all you know is eating. Can you even afford these precious things?” Shen Yulan lost face and couldn’t take it out on her older brother’s family, so she pinched her daughter’s ear and scolded her, “Eat your oranges, you glutton!”
Shen Yunxing couldn’t be bothered to watch this farce anymore and went back to his room with the snack bag.
【Yunxing】: Mr. Fu, are you busy?
He quickly replied: No, what’s wrong?
He complained to Mr. Fu with a pout: Zhang Tingting ate the snacks you prepared for me while I wasn’t at home [angry]
【Mr. Fu】: Who is Zhang Tingting?
【Yunxing】: My cousin
After waiting for a while without receiving a message from Mr. Fu, he received a direct voice call two minutes later.
He held the phone, his heart pounding nervously.
“Mr. Fu.” After the voice call was connected, he blushed and called out softly.
“It’s not convenient to type, so I initiated a voice call.” The low, sexy voice of the man came from the receiver, making Shen Yunxing’s ears burn and his cheeks blush even more.
“Um.”
“Continue?”
“What?” Shen Yunxing was a bit confused.
“Just now you mentioned that Zhang Tingting stole your snacks, and then? Did you snatch them back?”
“Mr. Fu, how did you know?” he said in surprise.
The person on the other end of the phone chuckled lightly. That’s just how this boy is. You can openly ask me for them, but you can’t take them when I’m not there.
“I didn’t say the snacks were gone. How did Zhang Tingting manage to steal them?” he asked with a smile.
Shen Yunxing paused for a moment, then blurted out with a red face, fumbling with his words, “There’s still a little left at home.”
At this, the man laughed again.
His ears felt even hotter, and the heat spread all the way to the roots of his ears.
“Mr. Fu, are you starting work now?”
Fu Tingzhou guessed that the boy was deliberately changing the subject, so he kindly said, “Yeah, there’s a web conference later.”
Shen Yunxing nodded. “Got it.”
“After working for the whole afternoon, take a shower and rest well,” Fu Tingzhou suggested.
“Okay.”
As the call approached its end, both of them held onto their phones, waiting for the other to hang up first. However, after almost ten minutes passed, the call was still ongoing.
“Mr. Fu?” Shen Yunxing called out in confusion. He thought he heard the man chuckle softly, but he wasn’t sure.
“Yeah, go to bed. Good night,” Mr. Fu finally said.
“Good night, Mr. Fu.”
Upon hearing Mr. Fu bid him good night, Shen Yunxing hung up the call feeling satisfied.
After taking a shower and coming out, the living room was quiet. He carefully listened at the bedroom door for a while to make sure that the mother and daughter were not around before daring to push the door open.
“Dad, Mom, where are Aunt and them?”
“Your brother took them to a hotel,” Shen’s mother replied, looking at her youngest son. Unable to help herself, she asked, “Son, your brother said those imported snacks were given to you by your classmates, is that true?”
He nodded. “Yes, it’s true.”
Shen’s mother looked at her youngest son suspiciously. “Why would a boy give you so much chocolate? Tell Mom the truth, are you in love?”
“Mrs. Shen, you’re thinking too much. The snacks were really given to me by my classmate. His family runs a business, and we receive so many snacks on holidays that we can’t finish them,” he pinched Shen’s mother’s shoulder, looking momentarily guilty.
“Even if that’s the case, we can’t let people look down on us. When you go back to school, you must treat him to a meal properly, understand?” Shen’s mother held her youngest son’s hand, speaking with sincerity, “Although our family isn’t wealthy, your father and I are both teachers, and your brother became a university professor before the age of thirty. We’re not inferior to those rich kids. When you’re outside, you don’t have to be so cautious. Stand up straight, and if anything happens, your parents are here to support you.”
“Mom…”
Mrs. Shen rarely spoke such words, and Shen Yunxing felt his nose tingling, almost revealing the existence of his “baby.”
“You’re all grown up now, why are you crying?” Mrs. Shen joked.
“Eighteen,” he hugged his mother’s neck and smiled, rubbing against her.
Mrs. Shen was happy that her son was willing to be close to her, but she pretended to be annoyed and said, “Okay, stop clinging to me. It’s too hot. Go back to bed.”
“Good night, Mom and Dad. You should go to bed early too.”
…
The next day.
Shen Yunxing was awakened by the noise. A woman’s sharp and piercing voice came from downstairs, and he covered his head with the blanket, but the noise was still loud.
He got up from bed, covering his ears, and pushed open the door. The woman’s voice downstairs was like firecrackers, crackling in his ears.
“Sister-in-law, that hotel is not a place for people to stay at all. There are cockroaches in the bathroom that are almost as big as rats, and the bedding, when I peeled back the covers, the filling was all moldy! Our Tingting has had respiratory problems since she was a child. She could hardly breathe after just one night. If we continue to stay there, she’ll be exhausted before she even gets a chance to see a doctor!”
In the downstairs living room, Shen Yuhua carried large and small bags, leading Zhang Tingting, whose face was slightly pale, and complained to Shen’s father and mother.
“Big brother, big sister-in-law, please, just for the sake of the children, pity our Tingting. Let us mother and daughter stay at home,” facing her younger sister’s pleading, Shen’s father couldn’t bear to be too harsh, but he knew very well what kind of person his younger sister was. Once he relented, it would be difficult to send them away again.
“Big brother, don’t forget, my husband, Zhang Sheng, saved your life before. You can’t repay kindness with ingratitude!” Shen Yuhua cried out.
Upon hearing her sister mention that incident, Shen’s father’s expression froze.
His mind flew back fifteen years ago when he was still young and had just bought a new car, unable to resist showing it off, so he drove with his wife and children back to their hometown.
That afternoon, he had a few extra drinks but wasn’t drunk. His brother-in-law, Zhang Sheng, had also had quite a bit to drink and was clamoring to see his new car. Unable to refuse and also with a desire to show off, he agreed.
He chose a road with few people and was spacious, so nothing should have happened. However, halfway through, Zhang Sheng suddenly demanded to drive and even reached for the steering wheel, disrupting the car’s normal trajectory. Seeing the car heading into a deep ditch marked with construction, Shen’s father urgently turned the steering wheel, crashing into a banyan tree on the side.
Shen’s father suffered severe injuries and passed out. If it weren’t for Zhang Sheng dragging his injured right leg and taking him to the hospital, he might not have survived. However, Zhang Sheng’s right leg was completely crippled.
The cause of the incident was Zhang Sheng grabbing the steering wheel, but if he hadn’t been drinking and driving, nothing would have happened later.
No matter what, he was fine now, but Zhang Sheng had lost a leg.
He felt guilty, which was why he tolerated this family in every possible way.
“Big brother!” Shen Yuhua saw her brother remain silent and thought he was disregarding his dignity. Just as she was about to continue causing trouble, she saw her brother nodding, agreeing to let them stay.
“Big brother, you can rest assured. Once Tingting’s illness gets better, we’ll leave immediately!” Before finishing her sentence, she had already entered the master bedroom, piling her things on the floor and looking at the layout of the room with satisfaction. “The sunlight in this room is really good. When the sunlight comes in, it kills all the viruses.”
“Big brother, big sister-in-law, you haven’t had breakfast yet, I’ll make it!” Without waiting for Shen’s mother to speak, she went into the kitchen on her own.
Half an hour later, a simple meal of porridge and side dishes was served.
“Sister-in-law, I remember you used to like stir-fried spinach, and I happened to see some in the fridge, so I made it for you,” Shen Yuhua said.
Shen’s mother was a cultured person. Even if she didn’t like Shen Yuhua, she didn’t show any displeasure.
“That’s thoughtful of you,” she nodded.
Shen Yuhua’s cooking skills were pretty good, at least in terms of appearance. But Shen Yunxing had no appetite at all, especially with Zhang Tingting sitting next to him, deliberately making chewing noises. The furrow between his brows grew deeper and deeper.
“Why aren’t you eating, Yunxing? Do you think your sister-in-law’s cooking is not good?” Shen Yuhua was somewhat unhappy to see him not touching anything.
“No, I…” He shook his head, but suddenly felt his stomach churning. He covered his mouth, rushing to the bathroom.
Listening to the vomiting sounds coming from inside, Shen Yuhua’s expression darkened. “No manners!”
Her son was vomiting like this, yet he was scolded for being rude. Even if Shen’s mother had good manners, she couldn’t bear this insult.
“Snap!”
Putting down her chopsticks, Shen’s mother said coldly, “Shen Yuhua, my son, you don’t have the right to reprimand him.” Then she got up and went into the bathroom to check on her son’s condition.
“Big brother, why did Sister-in-law throw her chopsticks at me? What did I do to deserve it? Yunxing couldn’t eat my cooking, but it’s not so bad that he’d want to vomit, right? It’s clear she doesn’t like me and wants to drive me out of the house!” Shen Rongyin was so angry that her lungs almost exploded. Being given a hard time by someone twenty years younger than her in front of her was making her lungs explode.
“Alright, say a few less words,” Shen’s father’s expression wasn’t very good, thinking of his son’s face just now, he couldn’t help but worry.
“He’s fine. Why did he suddenly vomit like that?” Shen’s mother followed into the bathroom, seeing her son’s face pale from vomiting, feeling a piercing pain in her heart.
Shen Yunxing shook his head. He didn’t know either. He just felt a little nauseous when he woke up this morning, but it wasn’t serious, so he didn’t pay much attention to it. Who knew it would escalate so quickly.
“Today, your sister is going to the hospital. You should go and see a doctor too,” she said, handing a wet towel to her youngest son.
“Okay.” He suddenly vomited so severely, he didn’t know if the baby had been affected. When they arrived at the central hospital, he would find a way to have Dr. Liu examine him.
Just after vomiting, Shen Yunxing felt weak, and he looked visibly unwell.
Mother and son emerged from the bathroom to see Shen’s father and older brother, Shen Yunshu, standing at the doorway with worried expressions.
“How are you feeling? Are you feeling better?” Shen’s father asked anxiously.
“Dad, brother, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me,” Shen Yunxing reassured them.
Their youngest son had always been in poor health since childhood. He hadn’t even eaten breakfast yet and had vomited like this. It didn’t look like nothing was wrong at all. Shen’s father’s eyes felt a little sore, but he still couldn’t help but reprimand him, “If you’re uncomfortable, just say so. What’s the point of acting tough in front of family?”
Shen Yunxing felt warm in his heart, but he was afraid of revealing the baby’s existence, so he dared not tell the truth.
He forced a pale smile. “Don’t worry, I’m really fine.”
“Sister-in-law, not to be rude, but Yunxing has always been a bit delicate. When I was pregnant with Tingting, I vomited all night and couldn’t sleep, but it wasn’t as bad as him. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think he had a serious illness,” Shen Yuhua started to insinuate again.
“Shen Yuhua, if you say one more word of nonsense, leave my house,” Shen’s mother said firmly.
After enduring for so many years, Shen’s mother didn’t want to continue tolerating it. Everyone had their responsibilities in the past events. Why should her family swallow their pride for so many years? She appreciated Zhang Sheng for saving Shen’s father, but these debts had been repaid over a decade, and it was time to settle the score.
Shen Yuhua moved her mouth but didn’t say anything.
The real decision-maker in the house was Shen Rongyin. If she angered her, she and her daughter could really be kicked out.
The appointment at the central hospital was in the afternoon. Shen Yunxing felt uncomfortable and went back to the bedroom after reluctantly drinking a bowl of porridge to rest.
He lay on the bed, about to message Mr. Fu, when the man sent a message first.
【Mr. Fu】: Your aunt’s name is Shen Yuhua?
【Yunxing】: Mr. Fu, how did you know?
He sent a photo first and then replied: This is an expert at the Central Hospital who treats asthma. You don’t need to wait until the afternoon; I’ve arranged an appointment for 10 o’clock.
Shen Yunxing frowned. Before he could reply, another message came.
【Mr. Fu】: Has the baby been troubling you? Today happens to be three months. Let me take you to Huaijin for a check-up. Your aunt’s appointment with the specialist was arranged by him. He mentioned it in passing when he called this morning.
So it was just a coincidence.
Looking at the message sent by the man, a smile reappeared on his face.
After arranging to meet the man at the hospital, he dressed and went downstairs to explain the situation to everyone.
“Really? Yunxing, what does your friend’s family do? A phone call is more effective than running our legs off,” Shen Yuhua inquired.
“It’s nothing special, just a friend with connections at the hospital who can provide some convenience,” Shen Yunxing replied.
Hearing this, Shen Yuhua suddenly lost interest in further questioning.
After packing up, Shen’s mother and older brother each drove a car towards the central hospital.
Shen’s mother didn’t want to stay with that mother and son, so she left them with her elder son. Poor Professor Shen was bombarded with questions by Shen Yuhua the entire way, asking if there were any valuable items in the house. To shut her up, he reluctantly said yes.
Finally, his ears were relieved from the incessant chatter, but it didn’t last long. Shen Yuhua started interrogating him about the “girlfriend” as if checking household registration records, making him even more distressed than that troublemaker at school.
Fortunately, it wasn’t long before they reached their destination. Otherwise, he couldn’t guarantee that he wouldn’t abandon the mother and daughter halfway there.
After arriving at the hospital, Shen Yunxing found an excuse to separate from his mother and the others. He didn’t let his brother follow either. He went to the office to find Dr. Liu, but the nurse said Dr. Liu was in surgery and wouldn’t be available for at least two hours.
He didn’t want to go back, so he decided to wait for Mr. Fu at the entrance.
Things didn’t go smoothly for Shen’s mother either. She had asked Shen Yuhua earlier, and the latter said Zhang Tingting only had asthma. However, the specialist’s expression during the consultation was obviously not right, and he subtly suggested that Shen Yuhua take her daughter for an ultrasound examination.
Upon hearing this, Shen Yuhua exploded. In her mind, only pregnant women would undergo such examinations. Her daughter was not yet eighteen. If word got out that a doctor had suggested an ultrasound for her, she would lose all face!
“Mom, I’m not going! I just have asthma, I’m not pregnant!” Zhang Tingting also resisted strongly and ran away before the doctor could finish speaking.
Shen Yunxing stood in a corner of the emergency room, sending a message to Mr. Fu, unaware of the person running out from around the corner. Before he could react, it was already too late.
“Ah! It hurts!”
He covered his stomach and tried to move aside as much as possible. However, instead of the imagined collision, he heard Zhang Tingting’s cry of pain.
He looked up and saw Mr. Fu with an angry expression on his face, shielding the young man behind him.
“Who are you, and why did you push my daughter?!” Shen Yuhua caught up and saw her daughter almost being knocked down by a stranger. She raised her voice and shouted.
Mr. Fu protected the young man behind him and said coldly, “If you can’t discipline your daughter properly, I don’t mind disciplining her for you.”
