- Chapter 49 - Restless Heart and Wandering Mind
Director Qin liked tea sets. The next day, Shen Yunxing, accompanied by Mr. Fu, used his earnings from acting to buy Director Qin a tea set worth tens of thousands. Even then, the store owner gave a discount because of Mr. Fu’s influence, otherwise, it would have been even more expensive.
It was Saturday, but to go on vacation with the youth at the end of the month, Fu Tingzhou needed to finish the second half of his month’s work early.
So, throughout the day, one of them was busy with work while the other was reading scripts, staying cooped up in the study without going outside.
Aunt Sun stayed at her hometown to care for her pregnant daughter-in-law. Dinner was still prepared by Fu Tingzhou himself. His cooking skills had improved so much that within an hour, he had served three dishes and a soup.
After washing his hands, Shen Yunxing came out, walked over to the man, and gave him a peck on the cheek.
“Mr. Fu, you’ve worked hard.” He said with a smile.
Fu Tingzhou was very pleased, his lips curving up slowly.
“Come, sit down and eat. I made your favorite braised ribs.”
“Great~”
After dinner, the two of them took a walk in the neighborhood hand in hand and then cuddled together to watch TV dramas. After ten o’clock, they went to bed.
At ten-thirty, Shen Yunxing lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to sleep. He snuggled up next to Mr. Fu and, using the moonlight, counted the man’s eyelashes.
The light was too dim to see clearly. After counting up to the seventh lash, he leaned forward a bit, his nose nearly touching the man’s.
Mr. Fu was so handsome. He hoped their baby would look a bit more like Mr. Fu in the future.
His eyes should be like Mr. Fu’s; Mr. Fu’s eye sockets were deep, making him look a bit foreign.
His nose should also be like Mr. Fu’s; Mr. Fu had a high, beautiful nose bridge.
Hmm, his mouth should also resemble Mr. Fu’s. Mr. Fu’s lips were nice… soft when kissed.
He gazed at the man’s sleeping face, his thoughts wandering. After a moment, unable to resist, he leaned in and gave a soft kiss on Mr. Fu’s high, straight nose.
Seeing that Mr. Fu showed no sign of waking up, he extended his fingers to gently touch the man’s forehead, then his nose bridge, lips, chin, and neck.
He moved down to the collarbone and chest. Mr. Fu’s clothes were very loose today, and the top button wasn’t fastened, so Shen Yunxing, feeling emboldened, reached his hand into Mr. Fu’s nightshirt.
His hand brushed over the collarbone, chest, and abs. As he blushed and was about to go further down, his wrist was suddenly grabbed!
“Be good and go to sleep.”
Mr. Fu’s voice was deep and hoarse, making Shen Yunxing’s heart tremble.
Shen Yunxing was familiar with this voice. Under normal circumstances, Mr. Fu’s voice would never be like this.
He hesitated for a moment, then tilted his chin and kissed the corner of the man’s mouth.
“Mr. Fu.” He called softly, his voice like a cat’s.
Fu Tingzhou chuckled and resignedly helped the youth.
…
Afterward, Shen Yunxing buried his head under the blanket and refused to come out.
“There’s no need to feel embarrassed; this is all normal,” Fu Tingzhou said, patting the youth’s head.
Normal? Last time, it was at least ten minutes, but this time it was probably less than five minutes!
His cheeks were blushing deeply, and despite Mr. Fu’s attempts to comfort him, he remained hidden. Only when he could no longer hold back did he finally poke half his head out from under the blanket.
He glanced at Mr. Fu with slightly reddened eyes, then, feeling embarrassed, quickly looked away. He accidentally noticed the man’s slightly reddened ears and was stunned.
So, Mr. Fu can be shy too.
“Go to sleep. We still need to go out tomorrow,” Fu Tingzhou said, gently pushing the youth’s hair aside.
Shen Yunxing nodded, “Mr. Fu, good night.”
After saying that, he clung to Mr. Fu, pressing his forehead against the man’s chest, and then closed his eyes, falling into a tired sleep.
…
The next afternoon at six o’clock, in front of the Romancy Restaurant.
“Go in. I’ll pick you up after it’s over,” Fu Tingzhou said, handing the bag to the youth.
Shen Yunxing nodded, waved goodbye to the man, and turned to get out of the car when Mr. Fu called him back.
Fu Tingzhou leaned down and kissed the youth’s forehead, then smiled, “A farewell kiss.”
Shen Yunxing’s heart skipped a beat, and even after entering the private room, the dimples on his cheeks didn’t disappear.
“Brother, you’re here!” Lu Bai immediately attached himself to Shen Yunxing upon seeing him.
Although Shen Yunxing was dressed warmly, if Lu Bai clung to him, it would definitely give him away. So, he ruthlessly pushed him away.
“Director Qin, Sister Ying.”
After greeting, he handed the prepared gifts to the two, “I picked a small gift for you. I’m not sure if you’ll like it.”
Since they had a good relationship, Qin Zheng and Zhao Ying didn’t refuse and accepted the gifts.
“Oh, this tea set isn’t cheap,” Qin Zheng said, playing with a small teacup lovingly.
“The acne-scar treatment skincare products— I was just about to buy this brand to try, so this saved me some money.” Zhao Ying, who had been tormented by acne scars recently, was extremely happy.
“I knew Director Qin liked tea sets, but how did you know I’ve been working on acne scars lately?” Zhao Ying asked in surprise.
“Because Sister Ying, you posted on your Moments that a certain high-end acne product didn’t work well. So I did some research online, compared, and found this recommended product had the most endorsements and good feedback,” Shen Yunxing said with a smile.
Zhao Ying gave him a thumbs-up, “You’re impressive, my Xingxing.”
“Brother, what about mine?” Lu Bai pouted after waiting for a long time without getting his gift. His big, watery eyes looked as if he was about to cry.
“Did you forget about me?” Lu Bai looked at his brother with a hurt expression.
Shen Yunxing laughed, “I couldn’t possibly forget you.” Saying this, he pulled out a small box from his pocket. “Here, it’s the limited edition merchandise from ‘PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds.’”
Lu Bai’s eyes lit up instantly.
“It’s really ‘PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds’ merchandise!” He hugged the items and kissed each one, then asked, “I spent a whole night at the computer but couldn’t get it. How did you manage to get it, brother?!”
Shen Yunxing smiled without saying anything.
He didn’t buy it. Mr. Fu’s company was collaborating with the game, and as soon as the merchandise was released, the producers sent a few sets by express delivery without costing him a penny.
Lu Bai was carefree. Seeing his brother wouldn’t answer, he didn’t press further and busied himself with unpacking the other merchandise.
“There’s less than a month before you join the new production. How’s the script going?” Qin Zheng asked.
Shen Yunxing replied, “I’ve memorized most of it, but there are still some parts I don’t fully understand.”
“Which parts don’t you understand? Tell me.”
Zhao Ying looked at the two discussing the script and found it amusing and frustrating.
Even during dinner, they were so dedicated. It’s unacceptable if Xiaoyunxing doesn’t become famous.
Then she looked at the young master Lu Bai, who was engrossed in the merchandise, and shook her head.
The fool from the landlord’s family; whether he gets famous or not is all up to fate.
The meal lasted over two hours, with most of the time spent listening to Director Qin explain the script to Shen Yunxing. If Director Qin hadn’t been in a hurry to catch a flight to another city, it might have gone on even longer.
“With your talent and ability to endure hardship, you’re born to be an actor,” Director Qin said, patting Shen Yunxing on the shoulder before parting.
“What about me?” Lu Bai squeezed into the middle, eager to join the conversation.
“You, just go home and feed the pigs,” Director Qin said with a laugh, completely ignoring his angry nephew behind him.
“Yunxing, see you next month,” Zhao Ying said with a smile before getting into the car.
Shen Yunxing was a bit stunned and only came back to his senses after the car had left.
Sister Ying is one of the screenwriters for ‘Drunk Watching the Wind Brush the Sleeve’!
Knowing there would be familiar faces in the next project, he was quite happy. After finding Mr. Fu’s car, he opened the door and hugged the man, showing a bit of affection.
“What’s got you so happy?” Mr. Fu asked, kissing the youth’s forehead.
“I didn’t expect to continue working with Sister Ying from the last project in the next one,” he said happily.
On the way back, Shen Yunxing recalled several amusing incidents from the set and shared them with Mr. Fu in a cheerful mood.
Fu Tingzhou listened quietly, occasionally responding.
Sometimes he glanced at the youth, whose bright smile was heartwarming and made Fu Tingzhou’s heart melt.
Meanwhile, outside the Romancy Restaurant, Shen Yunshu glared darkly at the direction the car had left.
“Professor Shen? Snap out of it.” Yu Ye waved his hand in front of Shen Yunshu’s face and raised an eyebrow. “If you don’t snap out of it, I might have to kiss you.”
Seeing Shen Yunshu still unresponsive, Yu Ye leaned in to kiss him. Suddenly, Shen Yunshu slammed his fist on the steering wheel.
“That bastard!” He cursed through gritted teeth, thinking of the scene he had just witnessed.
The snacks, the expensive clothes, and the evasive look when asked about a romantic relationship—now everything made sense.
Even the encounter after returning from grandma’s house, which seemed like a coincidence, was actually a carefully planned scheme!
What he didn’t expect was that the bastard had even come to Yun City!
Shen Yunshu’s hands trembled with anger. He wanted to find that bastard immediately, but Yu Ye held him back.
“Calm down first. In your current state, you’ll definitely say things you’ll regret and make your brother sad,” Yu Ye said, holding Shen Yunshu in his arms and frowning.
“Let go!” Shen Yunshu’s eyes were red. “Calm down! How can I calm down? It’s not your brother being wooed by a man, so of course, you can…”
Two minutes later, Yu Ye wiped the moisture from Shen Yunshu’s lips with his thumb.
“Are you calm now?”
“Bastard!” Shen Yunshu, whose shirt had come untucked, cursed with an unsteady voice.
…
Unaware that the situation had been exposed, Shen Yunxing received a phone call from his mother as soon as he got home.
“Mom.”
“I was just about to call you and Dad. I didn’t expect you to call first,” she said with a smile.
“You’re so sweet,” Shen’s mother said, pleased.
“Mr. Shen, be careful with your leg. Don’t bump or knock it.”
Shen’s father’s voice came from the bedroom. Although it was quiet, Shen Yunxing could hear it clearly.
“Mom, did you injure your leg?” he asked anxiously.
“No, I just twisted it a bit when I got back from work. You know how Dad is, always making a fuss,” Shen’s mother reassured her youngest son.
Shen Yunxing didn’t believe it. If everything was fine, his father wouldn’t be using that tone.
“I’ll come back to see you tomorrow.”
“No need. Focus on your studies. I called to tell you that the Chinese medicine you asked me to send to Mr. Tang has been dispatched today. It should arrive by ten tomorrow morning.”
“Alright, that’s it then. Mom still has papers to grade, so I’ll hang up now. Take care of yourself.”
“Mom?”
“Knowing I’m on the phone with my son, if he finds out, he’ll start worrying. So, you just…”
The call ended, and Shen Yunxing listened to the beeping sound from the other end, feeling flustered.
“Don’t worry. As long as they’re still at home, it means the situation isn’t too serious,” Fu Tingzhou said, comforting the youth as he rubbed his back. “Go take a shower, then get a good night’s sleep. I’ll drive you home to see them tomorrow.”
