- Chapter 72 - Recharging the Husband
“Alright, stop picking on him,” Fu Tingzhou said, pinching the boy’s slightly flushed neck with a smile.
“Hold on, you heard what was said earlier,” Mo Li said. “Your guy here is a thorny rose. Even when you’re not around, no one can bully him.”
“By the way, I need to ask you something. Did you tell the little cutie about me and Linda?”
Her plan to test the boy had backfired before it even started. She felt like she’d been betrayed by a friend and was startled when Fu Tingzhou shook his head.
“So how did you find out?” Mo Li asked, confused.
She had been developing her career abroad for years, and there were hardly any scandals about her in the country. If it wasn’t for hearing it from Tingzhou, how would this kid have known?
Shen Yunxing’s eyelashes trembled slightly. Under the “rival’s” curious gaze, he felt a bit embarrassed and said, “I found it while searching online yesterday.”
To beat the “rival,” he had done a lot of research privately. Besides finding out that Mo Li had a long-term girlfriend, he also discovered the reason for her return to the country. Since this reason wasn’t very pleasant, he had no intention of bringing it up despite his anger.
“Ok.” Mo Li was convinced. “You’re quite clever for your age.”
“Of course, Little Yunxing is the top student in the drama department,” Tang Che said, giving Shen Yunxing a thumbs-up. “With you and Lao Fu’s genes being so excellent, my godson must be a genius!”
Mo Li was puzzled. “Godson?”
“Little Yunxing is carrying Lao Fu’s baby. It’s about six or seven months along now. In a couple of months, my godson will be born,” Tang Che said, then noticed her shock as she stood up from her chair, stunned.
“You didn’t know about this?” he asked.
“No one told me!” Mo Li was furious. If she had known, she wouldn’t have agreed to help test the boy!
“Tang Che!”
Under Mo Li’s piercing gaze, Tang Che weakly said, “I thought Lao Fu had told you.”
“Lucky that Yunxing isn’t someone who can be easily bullied, or you’d be in big trouble today!” Mo Li said, counting on her fingers.
She had trained in Muay Thai for two years before going abroad. Although she hadn’t practiced in a long time, Tang Che still feared her, recalling how she used to deal with him. Seeing her twist her neck, he was immediately scared into silence and hid behind Liu Huaijin.
“Serves you right,” Liu Huaijin said with a glance.
Realizing the true nature of the situation, Fu Tingzhou’s smile faded instantly.
“This has nothing to do with me; it was all Tang Tang’s idea!” Mo Li said, raising her hand in surrender.
Back in college, Fu Tingzhou’s temper was much worse than it is now. He used to keep a stern face and rarely smiled. It’s only in recent years that he has improved, showing a smile occasionally to friends and family, though still cold to outsiders.
Tang Che felt that before the boy appeared, Lao Fu was merely existing, but with his arrival, he became a real, flesh-and-blood person.
He hadn’t seen Lao Fu with a dark face for more than half a year, and seeing him frown now made him feel a chill down his back.
“Uh, Lao Fu, I know I made a mistake. Since you like that South African diamond, I’ll cut it and give it to Little Yunxing as an apology!”
Fu Tingzhou took Shen Yunxing’s hand in his and, seeing the concern in the boy’s eyes, said, “I don’t need the diamond; just keep the base. The old man mentioned wanting a piece of rosewood as a paperweight, and I think that piece would be perfect.”
Rosewood?
Tang Che, who thought it was just a piece of junk wood, was stunned for half a second before quickly agreeing, “Alright, no problem!”
Liu Huaijin facepalmed, reluctant to admit that the man he had loved for over a decade was such a scatterbrain.
Shen Yunxing had a habit of napping. Liu Huaijin had surgery in the afternoon, and Mo Li needed rest after her return, so everyone went their separate ways after the meal.
On the way back, Fu Tingzhou glanced at the boy happily holding the gift.
“What did Mo Li give you that makes you so happy?” he asked with a smile.
Shen Yunxing opened a small part of the gift box for Fu Tingzhou to see and said excitedly, “It’s a signed photo of Actor Liao Wei Fan’s first movie in Hollywood!”
At the mention of Liao Wei Fan, Fu Tingzhou’s smile stiffened.
Liao Wei Fan again? How has he not collapsed yet?
Seeing the boy’s bright smile, Fu Tingzhou sighed slightly.
Never mind; it’s better if he doesn’t collapse. Otherwise, the boy might be sad for months.
…
Recently, Shengshi Entertainment signed a new female artist named Mo Li. Just three days after signing, her announcements were everywhere, and her name was trending on Weibo and social media.
It was clear to anyone with eyes that Shengshi Entertainment was planning to heavily promote this new artist. However, Shengshi had never invested so much in promoting anyone before, so people were saying that Mo Li was like a beloved daughter to Shengshi.
But she did have the credentials—fair skin, beautiful looks, and long legs. It was said she had developed her career abroad and appeared in several Hollywood blockbusters.
A beautiful woman with good acting skills and looks is liked by everyone, so within a week, Mo Li’s fan base skyrocketed by ten million, placing her among the top stars.
“Yunxing, is this Mo Li really your sister? When I bumped into her on the red carpet, she said she was your sister, and I didn’t quite believe it,” Su Yin said as she ran towards a marker in the game.
“Yeah,” Shen Yunxing said, sniping an enemy trying to steal Su Yin’s kill. “Sister Mo Li is Mr. Fu’s good friend.”
“Oh my God,” Su Yin exclaimed. “With you two siblings in the entertainment industry, it’s like no one else can survive! Ah, there’s someone here! Damn, I got killed.”
The next second, Shen Yunxing, who was miles away, also got sniped through level-three armor.
“Damn! We’ve run into a hacker! Uzi’s sniping from a thousand miles away; I’ve really seen it all!” Su Yin’s screen was clicking rapidly as she furiously reported the hacker.
Shen Yunxing, who was used to encountering hackers in games, remained relatively calm. Hearing Su Yin’s curses, he couldn’t help but laugh.
“Su Jie, calm down, you’re still on set. Watch your image.”
“Even if it’s a guy, it’s so unfair,” Su Yin said, switching from cursing to personal attacks. “If you can’t handle it, don’t download the game. Hacking and ruining the game balance isn’t a skill!”
“Jie, I’m logging off now; we’ll continue another day,” Shen Yunxing said, checking the time.
“Alright, our good baby is going to bed,” Su Yin teased.
“By the way, keep a low profile with Mr. Fu these days. I saw some gossip about the two of you on Weibo yesterday. The photos weren’t very clear, so the netizens didn’t buy it and it got buried,” Su Yin reminded him before logging off.
Gossip about himself and Mr. Fu?
Shen Yunxing searched Weibo but couldn’t find any similar news, so he didn’t think much of it.
Putting down his phone, he ran to the study in his slippers to find Mr. Fu.
“Mr. Fu, it’s time to rest!”
As the year-end approached, Mr. Fu had endless work every day. Even this morning, Shen Yunxing noticed the dark circles under Mr. Fu’s eyes.
He looked at the man working with a furrowed brow.
Why do other company presidents get to sleep in, go to bars, and sing karaoke every day without working?
And Mr. Fu, on the other hand, worked even harder than an intern and sometimes didn’t even have time to eat!
“Come here,” Fu Tingzhou called the boy over as he finished a section of work.
Shen Yunxing, biting his lip, slowly moved to the man’s side and was immediately embraced by him.
“Darling, let’s recharge,” Fu Tingzhou said, rubbing his chin against the boy’s hair and speaking softly.
The man’s words made Shen Yunxing suddenly remember how Mr. Fu had made him call him “husband” several times last night. He felt embarrassed even about the smallest things.
Mr. Fu was definitely doing it on purpose.
Burying his face in the man’s neck, the love marks on his neck seemed even more vibrant than before.
“Mr. Fu, do you still need to work?” he asked, looking up at the man after a moment.
“I have a few more documents to handle.” Fu Tingzhou kissed the boy’s brow gently. “I can take a day off tomorrow and accompany you to the movies in the afternoon. How does that sound?”
“Good!” The boy’s face lit up with a bright smile, his eyes curving charmingly.
Fu Tingzhou ruffled the boy’s hair. “Good boy, go to sleep first. I’ll finish these documents and come to you.”
Shen Yunxing shook his head, intending to stay on the sofa with his pillow to keep Mr. Fu company.
At first, he was sitting, then after two minutes he was half-lying, and within five minutes, he was snoring softly.
Fu Tingzhou shook his head with a smile, carried the boy back to the bedroom, and settled him in. He then returned to the study with files and a notebook. He worked for two hours, finally finishing his work while admiring the boy’s sleeping face.
As soon as he lay down, the boy automatically snuggled closer to him.
His heart softened, and he held the boy tightly who had nestled into his arms, bending down to place a gentle kiss on the boy’s forehead.
“Good night, darling.”
“Husband…” The boy rubbed his cheek against the man’s neck, mumbling unconsciously.
Fu Tingzhou chuckled softly, holding the boy even tighter.
“Mm, go to sleep.”
…
The next morning, when Shen Yunxing woke up rubbing his eyes, Mr. Fu was not beside him.
The baby had grown a bit more these days. He found it a bit difficult to put on his own socks, and with Mr. Fu around, he had gotten a bit lazy about doing it himself.
He hugged the blanket and called out, “Mr. Fu.” When he was about to call again, the bedroom door was pushed open.
“Little sleepyhead awake?” Fu Tingzhou teased, carrying a breakfast tray.
Shen Yunxing had almost become used to Mr. Fu’s teasing. Hearing Mr. Fu call him “little sleepyhead” with a smile made him genuinely happy.
“Mr. Fu,” he said with a sweet smile, then lifted his right foot. “I can’t put on my socks.”
Fu Tingzhou, understanding the boy’s little thoughts, smiled and said, “I’ll help you.”
“Okay~” The boy stretched out his voice.
