Pregnant With The Pup Of A Wealthy Old Man - Chapter 85
“Zhouzhou, do you miss Daddy? Daddy misses you so much.”
Fu Tingzhou glanced through the rearview mirror at the father and son cuddling in the back seat, his lips curling into a smile.
“Ah!” Baby Zhouzhou reached out with his chubby little hand, grabbing aimlessly.
“Do you miss Daddy too, Zhouzhou? So good,” Shen Yunxing kissed his son’s little face, his eyes crinkling in a smile.
The little guy was excited all the way home, and after Daddy fed him and put him to sleep, he went straight to bed.
Shen Yunxing placed his son in the stroller, pushed him into view, and then wrapped his arms around Mr. Fu from behind, playfully snuggling.
“Gege, what delicious food are you making?”
He peered over and was kissed on the forehead by the man before he could even see.
Fu Tingzhou said, “Your favorite garlic vermicelli with baby cabbage, and also ribs and braised fish.”
Shen Yunxing’s eyes lit up: “I’ll help wash the vegetables!”
The couple worked together, and after an hour, the meal was finally ready.
“Gege, your cooking skills are getting better and better,” Shen Yunxing praised while munching on ribs. “Just as good as Boss Xu’s.”
Hearing this, Fu Tingzhou couldn’t help but laugh, “If he hears that, you probably won’t get to eat his homemade dishes again.”
Shen Yunxing paused, his expression conflicted for a moment, but in the end, he chose Mr. Fu.
Fu Tingzhou’s heart softened at the boy’s affection. At this point, even if Shen Yunxing asked for the moon and the stars, he would probably agree.
…
In early May, the couple took their two-and-a-half-month-old baby to Wucheng Mountain to visit Old Master Tang.
When Old Master Tang saw his chubby great-grandson, he became lively, holding the little guy and moving around the yard, unwilling to let go for a second.
“Ah, my great-grandson wants the leaves, huh? But there are bugs up there, don’t you mind?” Old Master Tang tried to distract the little guy.
However, the little one seemed to know what was happening and reached out with his chubby hands for the leaves on the shelf.
Unable to refuse his great-grandson’s every request, Old Master Tang had no choice but to call his grandson and ask him to get a bunch of clean leaves within half an hour for his precious great-grandson to play with.
“Where am I supposed to find that?” Tang Che asked, looking confused.
Old Master Tang left him with a “figure it out yourself” and hung up to continue amusing his great-grandson.
“Hello?” Tang Che gripped his phone, leaning weakly against his wife.
“What’s up?” Liu Huaijin asked, smoothing his hair.
“Old Master Tang wants me to buy leaves for the baby to play with,” Tang Che sighed. “The baby really knows how to make things difficult.”
Liu Huaijin smiled: “Let’s go to the mall, and we can buy some fruits and vegetables too.”
“Okay.” Tang Che embraced him and kissed his waist.
A bit ticklish, Liu Huaijin tried to dodge and said, “Stop it, Old Master Tang is waiting.”
“Then you need to make it up to me tonight.” Tang Che held him close, taking advantage to add, “I want to try the position you didn’t let me use yesterday.”
Liu Huaijin, not wanting Old Master Tang to wait too long, hesitated for a moment but agreed to the unequal terms.
Tang Che was delighted and obediently got up to help his wife get ready.
By the time they arrived at the farmhouse, it was already an hour later. The baby had completely forgotten about wanting to play with the leaves and was now tugging at Old Master Tang’s beard, curiously watching.
“Oh, little ancestor, be gentle, you’re almost pulling out my beard!” Old Master Tang deliberately teased the little guy.
Baby Zhouzhou, being mischievous, grinned widely when he heard Old Master Tang say “oh,” and kept tugging at his beard.
“Old Master Tang is really spoiling Zhouzhou like a little prince,” Tang Che commented as he set down his things, gesturing to Shen Yunxing and Mr. Fu. “He used to be upset if he lost a single hair from his beard, but now he’s letting my godson pull and tug without a fuss.”
He clicked his tongue and marveled, “Seems like everything has its match.”
“Brother Tang, Brother Jin,” Shen Yunxing called out with a smile.
“Hmm.” Liu Huaijin, seeing that Shen Yunxing was in good spirits, reminded him of a few things to be careful about, then took the fruits and vegetables to the kitchen.
Shen Yunxing’s cheeks flushed slightly. He glanced at Mr. Fu, who was chatting with Tang Che, and seeing they hadn’t noticed, he sighed in relief.
“Brother Jin, let me help you.”
They washed some fruits, and just as they were about to wash vegetables and prepare dinner, Tang Che, still munching on half an apple, came in and shooed them out.
“You guys go watch TV. Let Old Master Fu and me handle lunch.”
“Go have fun.” Fu Tingzhou ruffled the boy’s hair and smiled.
Shen Yunxing nodded, and within ten minutes, the couple was out of the kitchen.
With Old Master Tang looking after the baby, there was no need for them to worry about the meal. The couple sat in the living room, staring at each other, and after a while, burst into laughter.
“Yunxing, I heard you’re starting to film in June?” Liu Huaijin asked.
Shen Yunxing nodded, “Yes, starting on the 3rd.”
“Will you have the wedding before you leave?”
Shen Yunxing touched his nose, feeling a bit shy, “Yes, that’s what Grandpa and my parents discussed.”
“Congratulations,” Liu Huaijin said with a smile.
After lunch, they played mahjong together for a while. By around four in the afternoon, the couple carried the sleeping baby back to Chunjiang Huayue Garden.
…
The wedding was set for May 24th, and on the 20th, the couple, along with Baby Zhouzhou, went to have their wedding photos taken.
The little one had no idea what the two daddies were up to. Once dressed in a beautiful little dress, he was overjoyed, grinning widely with his bare gums on display.
Shen Yunxing and Fu Tingzhou were both dressed in white equestrian outfits. One looked like a delicate and charming little prince, while the other was tall and handsome, guarding the young man like a knight forever protecting his prince.
“Gege, I don’t know how to ride a horse.” Shen Yunxing glanced at the large reddish-brown horse, which was about his height, and turned to tug on the man’s sleeve, whispering.
Fu Tingzhou gently brushed the boy’s nose with his fingertip and soothingly said, “Don’t be afraid, I will always be by your side to protect you.”
Shen Yunxing, hearing this, suddenly thought of Snow White and the prince and smiled with his eyes squinted.
“Mr. Fu, are you my red horse prince?”
“No,” the man shook his head, then took his hand and placed a light kiss on the back of it. “I am the knight who protects the prince.”
Shen Yunxing’s cheeks flushed from Mr. Fu’s actions and sweet talk. He turned his head, pretending to study the red horse, and asked, “How do I get on?”
Fu Tingzhou chuckled, calming the horse and then teaching the young man step-by-step how to mount.
“It’s too high, I’m scared,” Shen Yunxing shook his head vigorously. The height made it impossible for him to mount using the stirrups, and if he tried, his clothes would get dirty and the whole look would be ruined.
With no other option, Fu Tingzhou had a small stool brought over.
Two minutes later, Shen Yunxing finally managed to get on the tall horse.
Fu Tingzhou held the reins and led the young man on a walk across the grass.
“So this is what it feels like to ride a horse. When I was a child, I used to envy those people in ancient times who rode horses and galloped on the roads. On my birthday, I even wished for my parents to buy me a horse as a gift. I was so disappointed when I found out that riding a horse to school wasn’t allowed in the city,” Shen Yunxing said with a smile.
“Ah!” Baby Zhouzhou, held by a young lady, waved his chubby little hand at the two daddies from a distance.
“Zhouzhou, Daddy is here!” Shen Yunxing happily called out to his son.
“Do you want to run a lap?” Fu Tingzhou asked the young man.
Shen Yunxing was startled: “Run a lap? But I don’t know how to ride a horse.”
Without responding, Fu Tingzhou took the reins and, under Shen Yunxing’s astonished gaze, mounted the horse behind him.
“Gege, you’re amazing!” Shen Yunxing’s eyes sparkled. “You look just like the skilled horse riders from the TV shows. So cool!”
“Hold the reins tightly and I’ll take you for a lap,” Fu Tingzhou instructed with a smile.
“Okay!”
Although they had come to take wedding photos, Shen Yunxing didn’t see a single photographer until they left the riding arena.
While changing clothes in the dressing room, he couldn’t help but ask, “Gege, when are we going to take the wedding photos?”
Fu Tingzhou smiled and ruffled the young man’s hair. “We’ve already taken them. The people who passed by us just now were the photographers.”
Shen Yunxing was shocked; he had thought those people were just there to ride horses like him and Mr. Fu!
“Let’s go pick the photos.” Fu Tingzhou carried their son in his left arm and held Shen Yunxing’s hand with his right.
Five minutes later, Shen Yunxing looked at nearly a hundred candid photos on the computer, his eyes widening in surprise.
The photographer’s skills were excellent, and Shen Yunxing couldn’t bear to discard any of the photos. He selected a few for use and kept the rest well-organized, turning them into an album to take home.
On the way back, Baby Zhouzhou, who hadn’t ridden a horse, sulked with a pout. The two daddies spent over half an hour trying to cheer him up without success.
Finally, Shen Yunxing had an idea and bought a Meiyangyang rocking horse for his son at the mall. The little one finally broke into a joyful smile.
…
On the day of the wedding, our adorable Zhouzhou had just turned three months old. As he was held and kissed on the cheeks by the two daddies, he giggled happily, a soft and tender bundle.
“It’s a perfect match. If I could find such a handsome husband, I’d be dreaming with a smile every night,” Su Yin said, looking at the two men standing together on stage and unable to hold back tears of envy.
“Really?” Tang Che raised an eyebrow. “Do you think Qin Jingchen isn’t handsome enough?”
“How did you know?!” Su Yin was shocked. The fact that she had an affair with Qin Jingchen was known only to her closest assistant; how did Tang Che find out?
“Of course, because we’ve been good friends for years,” Tang Che said, emphasizing the word “good.” He added with a smirk, “I haven’t gotten my revenge for him stealing my girlfriend back in the day.”
“Impossible. Qin Jingchen doesn’t have an ex.”
“Impossible? We went to the same high school. Back then, you weren’t together yet,” Tang Che recalled. “I remember that girl’s name was Qin Yu something. Ugh, I can’t remember.”
“… Qin Yuxuan.”
Tang Che snapped his fingers. “Yes, Qin Yuxuan! By the way, do you know her?”
“Know her,” Su Yin replied with a complex expression. “She’s Qin Jingchen’s full-blooded elder sister.”
“What?!”
Liu Huaijin, who had been listening to the astonished Tang Che, asked, “Who were you talking about just now?”
“I was talking about Qin Jingchen. His husband is Xiao Qinzi,” Tang Che said, trying to be obsequious.
Su Yin’s earlobes turned a bit red. “He’s not my husband. We’re not married yet.”
“Not now, but you will be later,” Tang Che said, unwilling to delve further. He quickly pulled his wife over to the elder Tang’s table to offer a toast.
Meanwhile, the newlyweds came down from the stage and handed Zhouzhou over to Su Yin before joining the toasting line.
“Ah!” Baby Zhouzhou, three months old, realized his two daddies had left him behind and immediately cried out to make his presence known.
“Zhouzhou, be good. Daddy will be back to keep you company after the toast,” Su Yin said, rocking the little one and retrieving a small toy from the stroller for him to play with.
With the toy in hand, Zhouzhou stopped fussing and lay calmly in her arms, waving the toy and grinning with his bare gums.
On the other side, Shen’s mother took the wine offered by her son and son-in-law and suddenly burst into tears.
“Mom, today is a happy day. If you keep crying, Yunxing will start crying too,” Shen Yunshu said, handing her a tissue.
“It’s nothing. I just suddenly felt that your brother has really grown up,” Shen’s mother said, wiping her tears. She took her younger son’s hand and solemnly placed it in her son-in-law’s hand. “From now on, I entrust Xiao Xing to you. Please make sure to take good care of him and Zhouzhou.”
“Rest assured,” Fu Tingzhou said, gripping the young man’s hand and nodding in promise.
“Don’t worry, in-laws. If this scoundrel dares to mistreat Yunxing, I’ll break his legs with my walking stick!” the elder said from the side.
“You old man, why are you talking about breaking legs at your grandson’s wedding? It’s so unlucky,” an old friend of the elder said.
“Exactly. Grandchildren will have their own fortunes. Besides, I think Xiao Fu looks dependable. Yunxing is lucky, and even that little one of his has quite a bit of fortune!” one of the elder’s old comrades, who was knowledgeable about Feng Shui and physiognomy, said, stroking his beard.
“Mmm!” Baby Zhouzhou, held by Su Yin, called out at just the right moment, causing everyone to burst into laughter.
…
Soon after the wedding, Shen Yunxing had to part ways with Mr. Fu and their baby to shoot a film in Nancheng.
That night, after some playful time with Mr. Fu until the early hours, Shen Yunxing was exhausted and fell asleep in the man’s arms, barely able to keep his eyes open.
The next morning, he kissed the still-sleeping baby and gave Mr. Fu several kisses around the neck before reluctantly dragging his suitcase and getting into Meng Lele’s car.
“Yunxing, have you looked at the script?” Meng Lele asked, glancing at the rearview mirror.
Shen Yunxing, holding a toy resembling Mr. Fu, nodded. “Yes, I’ve read it. I’ve also memorized all the lines.”
“That’s good,” Meng Lele said with relief. “Sister Yan said this film is directed by Zheng Bin and aims for awards. She told me to remind you to take it seriously. If this film wins an award, you might become a big name in the film industry.”
Yan Jie, mentioned by Meng Lele, was Shen Yunxing’s manager. Although they didn’t meet often, almost everything behind the scenes was arranged by Yan Jie. The scripts Yan Jie chose were always of high quality, and even if there were no roles, she wouldn’t let him act in trashy dramas.
So Shen Yunxing had always been very grateful to Yan Jie.
“Lele, you can reassure Yan Jie. I’ve always been serious about acting,” Shen Yunxing said.
Meng Lele nodded.
At 2 PM in Nancheng, after disembarking from the plane, Shen Yunxing reported his safety to Mr. Fu and then, along with Meng Lele, got into the crew’s van to head to the shooting location.
*In the Human World* tells the story of a six-year-old rural boy who was kidnapped by traffickers and spent ten years leading his siblings to escape and successfully put the villains behind bars.
The film explores human nature. Yang Xiaoyuan, who was kidnapped by traffickers, tried to escape three times but no one was willing to help him. People watched him being captured with indifference and then left coldly.
After three escape attempts that led to a broken leg, Yang Xiaoyuan nearly gave up. But when his so-called godfather abducted two children aged three or four for unspeakable purposes, Yang Xiaoyuan, who was kind-hearted, could not tolerate it. To prevent the godfather from harming the children, he led his siblings to beg on the streets during the day and worked part-time at a corner bun shop at night.
He earned around twenty or thirty bucks a day, kept five for himself, and gave the rest to his godfather. The man, seeing the money, refrained from harming the children. He thought Yang Xiaoyuan was clever and wanted to keep him around to care for him in his old age, not wanting the child to hate him too much.
The man feared Yang Xiaoyuan would escape and didn’t give him an ID card, limiting his job opportunities even at sixteen.
Later, something happened that rekindled Yang Xiaoyuan’s determination to escape, and this time he would take his siblings with him!
…
“Yunxing, Yunxing?”
Hearing Meng Lele’s voice, Shen Yunxing awoke from his daze. He shook his head to clear his thoughts and got out of the car.
Seeing his pale face, Meng Lele asked with concern, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell?”
Shen Yunxing shook his head. “I’m fine. I was just a bit lost in thought about the script.”
Meng Lele nodded and, carrying her suitcase, followed the crew to their accommodation.
“Lele, let me do it,” Shen Yunxing, now fully awake, said, noticing that Meng Lele, being a woman, was struggling with a large suitcase. He quickly took it from her.
“This place is so rundown. It’ll be freezing at night,” Meng Lele said, looking around the shooting environment and then whispered to Shen Yunxing, “I’ll go out and buy two blankets later.”
*In the Human World* is set in the early 1990s. Zheng Bin and several assistant directors spent over half a month finding a suitable location that was both inhabited and matched the era’s background.
Meng Lele, being a city dweller, wasn’t used to seeing such dilapidated houses from the 1990s and was struggling to adapt.
“Don’t worry. Although it looks shabby, it’s actually quite nice inside,” said the crew member, carrying Shen Yunxing’s suitcase. “Before you arrived, Director Zheng had us tidy up the place. There’s hot water and heating.”
Shen Yunxing gave a polite smile. “Thank you for your trouble.”
The crew member, who had been in the industry for ten years, had never encountered such a down-to-earth lead actor and scratched his head with a silly smile. “It’s no trouble. It’s the least we can do.”
At 7 PM, after the opening ceremony, Director Zheng told everyone to return and rest, conserving their energy for the official shoot the next day.
That night, Shen Yunxing lay in the crumbling earthen house, video-calling Mr. Fu.
Seeing the young man curled up under the blankets, Fu Tingzhou’s brows furrowed in concern.
“Are you cold?” he asked with worry.
“It’s not cold. Director Zheng provided electric blankets and hot water bottles. It’s really warm under the covers,” Shen Yunxing said, winking at the man. “If you don’t believe me, you can come and try it yourself.”
**Author’s Note:**
Star Baby (lifting the blanket corner): It’s very warm, Gege, do you want to come and try?
Mr. Fu (smiling): I’ll visit the set tomorrow.
