Silent Lover - Chapter 164
Prince of North - Prince Zhenbei - Northern Garrison Prince are same person (Jun Xuanxiao)
Two horses galloped wildly, charging ahead. Uliang Yu had no choice but to dodge temporarily. However, his reaction was swift—he turned his horse and quickly caught up, nearing the carriage within moments.
“Sir Mokil, I advise you to stop resisting. Hand over the Empress of Jing, and I’ll spare your life!”
Chu Ling knew well that the Huns were unmatched in horsemanship, and the carriage could never outrun them. He stepped out decisively, his sword gleaming coldly in the rain as it aimed directly at Uliang Yu.
At the same time, several masked figures suddenly emerged from the dark forest, wielding sharp blades. They attacked Uliang Yu from multiple directions, aiming for vital spots.
Caught off guard, Uliang Yu was forced to fend off Chu Ling’s sword while narrowly avoiding the ambush. Even so, one blade managed to pierce his shoulder.
But as a trusted aide of the Hun chieftain, Uliang Yu narrowly escaped a fatal blow, countering with a slash of his broad blade. The attacker had to retreat to avoid being killed on the spot.
“Quite impressive, Sir Mokil. So your martial skills aren’t weak after all, and you even have secret guards protecting you. I had intended to spare you, but it seems you’re determined to take my life first!”
Wiping the rain-diluted blood from his injured shoulder, Uliang Yu was enraged. With a wave of his large hand, he bellowed, “Kill them all!”
Chu Ling frowned and silently signaled his four guards to attack Uliang Yu together. The plan was to take down the leader first. Unfortunately, they only managed to wound him.
“Master, you and the young lord must leave! We’ll hold them off!”
The guards formed a defensive line around the carriage. Uliang Yu’s elite fighters clashed fiercely with Chu Ling’s trained shadow guards, evenly matched in strength and skill.
The coachman was paralyzed with fear. Chu Ling didn’t hesitate, snatching the whip from him and striking the horses’ flanks. Startled by the pain, the horses galloped faster.
“Hmph! If I can’t catch you, I might as well not return at all!”
Ignoring the chaotic battle behind him, Uliang Yu spurred his horse in pursuit. Enduring the pain in his right shoulder, he drew his bow and arrow.
Noticing Uliang Yu’s movement, Chu Ling felt a wave of killing intent aimed directly at him. Instinctively leaning back, he narrowly dodged the arrow as it grazed his nose. Cold sweat ran down his spine from the close call.
The coachman beside him wasn’t as lucky. The arrow pierced his neck, cutting off his voice before he could scream. Blood gushed from his throat and mouth, and his lifeless body fell off the carriage.
“Hahaha! Sir Mokil, you’re next!”
Uliang Yu wasn’t far from the carriage. He relished the thrill of the hunt, much like a wolf pursuing prey. The excitement coursed through his veins.
“Uliang Yu, offending both Koryo and Jing in one move—aren’t you afraid we’ll join forces to crush you?”
“Bah! Koryo is just a speck of dust. Destroying it is no more than flipping a hand for the chieftain! As for Jing, with a hostage in hand, we can finally break the stalemate of these past years!”
“Your ambition is big; let’s hope it doesn’t choke you.”
Seeing Uliang Yu close in, Chu Ling realized he had no other choice.
“Yu’er, just follow this road for ten li. There’s a relay station with stationed soldiers there.”
Chu Ling turned and instructed quickly before leaping off the carriage to confront Uliang Yu directly. Shen Yu watched his profile, wanting to speak, but Chu Ling was already gone.
Shen Yu climbed out of the carriage, grabbing the reins and whip. Though inexperienced with driving horses, he only needed to keep them running along the forest-lined road.
“Surround him! Try to capture him alive! I’ll get the Empress of Jing myself!”
At Uliang Yu’s command, one of his men intercepted Chu Ling, keeping him occupied while Uliang Yu charged after the carriage.
“Little beauty, don’t run. Don’t worry, I won’t kill you…”
Uliang Yu was now just an arm’s length from the carriage. He could easily jump aboard. Shen Yu’s frantic attempts to escape only deepened Uliang Yu’s twisted delight.
Shen Yu swung the whip at him, leaving a red mark on his face, but his strength was insufficient. Uliang Yu quickly grabbed the whip.
With one slash of his blade, Uliang Yu severed the carriage shaft. The carriage tilted violently and crashed to the ground. Shen Yu felt the world spin and dove back into the cabin just in time to avoid being crushed. Still, he hit his head, drawing blood.
“Let’s see you run now!”
Spitting on the ground, Uliang Yu dismounted and strode toward the overturned carriage.
Shen Yu’s vision blurred. Seeing Uliang Yu approaching, he tried to kick him away with all his remaining strength. Uliang Yu sneered, grabbing Shen Yu’s ankle effortlessly. Shen Yu, exhausted, could barely resist.
Though disgusted by the thought of Emperor Xuan’s male consort, Uliang Yu froze in shock when he finally got a good look at Shen Yu.
Shen Yu’s complexion was flawless, his features ethereal, like a figure from a painting. Even the dim, stormy light couldn’t obscure his beauty.
“Well, no wonder Emperor Xuan fell for a man… You’re far prettier than any Hun woman,” Uliang Yu muttered, marveling.
Thinking of Shen Yu’s disheveled, rain-soaked appearance and labored breathing, Uliang Yu felt a sinister thrill.
“Years ago, Emperor Xuan blinded one of my eyes. Today, I’ll finally have my revenge!”
Tearing off his wolfskin eyepatch, Uliang Yu revealed a ghastly scar running across his face. His empty eye socket was pitch black, and in the flash of lightning, he looked like a demon.
“Little beauty, whatever I stuff in your mouth later, you’d better eat properly. If you hurt me…”
Gripping Shen Yu’s jaw, Uliang Yu sneered cruelly.
