Yan Sikong said coldly, “What is the meaning of this?”
“When I was young, I naively thought that I would marry you. I would go so far as to defy my father for you,” Feng Ye mocked with a smile. “Of course, I’m not that foolish anymore. But tomorrow, I will marry a woman I’ve never met. Before her, I will marry you.”
Yan Sikong’s hand trembled as he held the bridal veil. “You’re about to marry your legitimate wife. What’s all this now?”
“Fulfilling a wish from my youth,” Feng Ye replied coldly. “My obsession with you is because of my youthful arrogance. I made grand promises, and what you didn’t give me, what you owe me, I will take back, piece by piece.”
Yan Sikong threw the veil back at him, gritting his teeth. “Feng Ye, don’t you think you’re ridiculous?”
Feng Ye’s face twisted with a sinister expression. “Yes, I’m ridiculous. The youth who was infatuated with you was even more ridiculous. He devoted himself entirely to you. What did you give him? Thankfully, he’s grown up now, and he understands that things he wants can be taken, can be stolen, but he must not endure or beg, otherwise, he will only be trampled and used by others. Do you want to know how I plan to deal with you?”
Yan Sikong stared at Feng Ye, his gaze unwavering.
“Before I take control of the imperial city, you won’t leave this prison. You won’t have a chance to betray me again. If I lose, I will kill you and bury you with me. If I win, you will be my lifelong male companion. I once planned for you to help me reclaim the world, and I promised you the highest position of power, but you refused my offer. For Chen Mu, you dared betray me. From now on, you will only speak, listen, and obey me.”
Yan Sikong stepped back, a strong desire to escape this man rising within him. The madness he saw in Feng Ye was chilling.
Feng Ye lifted the bridal veil. “Put it on, marry me.”
Yan Sikong glared at Feng Ye with a fierce look.
“I can bind you, and it would be the same.”
Yan Sikong slowly took the veil, stiffly placing it over his head.
The moment his vision was obscured, Yan Sikong felt a searing pain in his heart.
He had imagined this moment. He was even too ashamed to admit it—he, a man, had imagined it. It wasn’t about any wedding ceremony; he had only imagined how it would feel to be with Feng Ye for the long term.
Now, he was in a prison, doing this tragic, pitiful, laughable thing? This was unprecedented, a mockery of the world!
“Kneel,” Feng Ye’s voice grew hoarse, tinged with pain.
Yan Sikong endured the suffocating pain and knelt down.
Feng Ye knelt beside him. “First bow to heaven and earth.”
Yan Sikong shakily bent his body. He didn’t want to do this absurd thing, yet it felt as if some invisible hand was guiding his actions.
“Second bow to our parents,” Feng Ye took a deep breath and whispered.
The two of them turned northeast and bowed to their long-deceased parents.
Finally, they knelt facing each other.
Feng Ye stared at Yan Sikong, his face hidden under the red veil, tears falling silently.
Yan Sikong’s gaze, from beneath the veil, was fixed on Feng Ye’s trembling knees.
They gazed at each other, silent.
The immense sorrow hit them like a tidal wave, completely drowning the two of them. In this narrow prison cell, there was almost no space to breathe, and the most tragic part was that neither of them could feel the other’s pain.
Feng Ye quietly wiped the tears from his cheek and said in a low voice, “Husband and wife… bow to each other.”
Yan Sikong clenched his fists and slowly, slowly lowered his head.
Something inside them shattered, blood spilled everywhere, and their forms could no longer be pieced together.
If this was truly a ceremonial exchange, it might be the most hopeless wedding in the world.
After the bowing ceremony, Feng Ye extended his hand and grabbed the hem of the bridal veil, but he hesitated, not daring to lift it.
Lifting the veil would bring them from the dream back to reality. If only time could stop right here…
Feng Ye gritted his teeth and suddenly yanked it off.
A flash of red passed through their eyes, and then the other’s face appeared in their sight. In that moment, it was as if they saw the youth they once were, the innocent faces, the sweet and affectionate smiles, and the naive and fearless eternal vows, regardless of the changing winds or the uncertainties of life.
The greatest pain in the world is when one can no longer be young.
Yan Sikong fought to hold back the tears that threatened to spill, staring unblinking at Feng Ye.
Feng Ye took two cups of wine and handed one to Yan Sikong.
Forget it, Yan Sikong thought. At this moment, even if it was poison, he would drink it without hesitation.
He took the cup, intertwined his arms with Feng Ye’s, and brought the wine to his lips, drinking it all in one go.
The bitter liquor burned through Yan Sikong’s throat, scorching his heart, liver, and stomach. He woke from the illusion, threw the cup to the ground, suddenly stood up, and turned his back. “Are you done playing? You can leave now.”
Feng Ye also stood up, lightly loosening his jade belt. “Tonight is our wedding night.”
Yan Sikong turned around and glared at Feng Ye, his voice hoarse. “Are you an animal?”
“Yes,” Feng Ye said expressionlessly, “I’ve been raised in a den of animals.” “Have you forgotten what I said I would do to you? You, a heartless and unrighteous liar, a treacherous traitor full of schemes. Why should I spare you, or spare the life of your loyal servant? This is your only use.”
Yan Sikong’s eyes erupted with hatred.
Feng Ye lifted his chin. “Take off your clothes and get on the bed.”
Yan Sikong hoarsely said, “Feng Ye, you disgust me.”
Feng Ye smiled cruelly. “That’s good. If I make you feel pleasure, wouldn’t that be too easy for you? Ah Li is built so large, ordinary people would die after two thousand cuts, but he might last a while. Do you want to see?”
Yan Sikong looked at Feng Ye with bloodshot eyes, cold and stiff as he began to undress.
Feng Ye pushed him onto the bed, his long fingers traced his face, eventually landing on his neck, gently gripping the slender neck.
A neck so delicate and pale, with just a little force…
Yan Sikong looked at Feng Ye fearlessly, and in his heart, there was even a faint expectation—if Feng Ye were to kill him now, it would end his suffering. It would be a release.
Feng Ye gripped his neck and suddenly snarled, “No matter how I treat you, I can’t earn your sincerity. Yan Sikong, do you even have a heart?”
Yan Sikong’s chest heaved with a heavy breath. “…I did once.”
He gave it to someone, and it was crushed to pieces.
Feng Ye violently tore away his clothes, breaking his body, crazed and relentless, repeatedly claiming him.
This strange “wedding night” was filled with sorrow, hatred, provocation, brutality, madness, and conquest, sweeping over their bodies as they fell into the abyss of despair.
