The Marked Alpha Is Extremely Hard to Coax - Chapter 15
The possessiveness of A towards O is mutual, so it should be the same for A towards E. O will develop a dependency on A, which means A might become agitated, anxious, and very irritable with E.
After convincing himself through this analogy, Jiang Yunbian looked seriously at the doctor. “I understand.”
The doctor responded with a puzzled look. He just advised Jiang Yunbian to rest well and avoid major emotional fluctuations.
When Jiang Yunbian pushed the door open, he first saw Zhou Die sitting in the waiting chair, playing with his phone. Zhou Die seemed a bit tired and stared at him for a while.
Jiang Yunbian felt quite uncomfortable under his gaze. “You’re still here?”
“My mom asked me to take you home,” Zhou Die said, standing up and walking over to Jiang Yunbian, bending down. “Do you want me to carry you(in his arms) or carry you(on back)?”
“Let’s do this: I’ll break your legs, and then you can buy two wheelchairs, and we can push each other.”
In the end, Zhou Die endured Jiang Yunbian’s sarcasm and carried him into the taxi.
“I’m going back to school. If you keep this up, do you believe I’ll really beat you up?” Jiang Yunbian nearly lost his temper as Zhou Die fastened his seatbelt forcibly.
“You promised my mom you’d help her make mooncakes,” Zhou Die said, pulling two eggs from his pocket. “The ingredients are already bought.”
Jiang Yunbian really thought Zhou Die had some issues, but when confronted, he felt somewhat guilty.
Eventually, Zhou Die carried Jiang Yunbian up to the seventh floor. After thoroughly explaining to Auntie Wen how he slipped on a banana peel, Jiang Yunbian’s Mid-Autumn Festival holiday was clearly arranged.
Auntie Wen insisted on taking care of him.
“It’s no trouble, Auntie. You have other guests,” Jiang Yunbian said, looking at Xu Zhaoruo.
Xu Zhaoruo immediately stood up and put her hand on her forehead. “Report: I’m only staying one night, and I’ll leave tomorrow. I always sleep with Auntie Wen, so Jiang Yunbian doesn’t need to worry about me!”
Jiang Yunbian thought this Omega was going overboard.
Auntie Wen had Zhou Die help Jiang Yunbian to rest, and when Jiang Yunbian entered Zhou Die’s room for the second time, he realized the bed had already been prepared. Auntie Wen had planned for him to stay overnight.
Zhou Die was flipping through clothes. “How tall are you?”
Jiang Yunbian, leaning against the wall, didn’t want to answer.
“Didn’t you notice you still have egg on you?” Zhou Die said.
“181 cm,” Jiang Yunbian replied coldly.
Zhou Die handed him a set of clothes and new underwear. When Jiang Yunbian entered the bathroom, he saw his used towel still hanging on the wall.
His neck itched again.
When Jiang Yunbian came out of the shower, he found Xu Zhaoruo and Wen Yue also in the room, playing checkers.
“No, no, I’m too weak,” Wen Yue said with a laugh, waving her hand. “I’m hungry. I’ll go downstairs to cook some noodles. Do you want some?”
Xu Zhaoruo raised her hand eagerly. “Yes!”
Zhou Die and Jiang Yunbian both nodded.
Once the elders left, the checkers game suddenly became awkward.
Xu Zhaoruo watched Zhou Die flip through a book and lost confidence in his ability to start a conversation. She turned to Jiang Yunbian. “Do you need a blocking agent?”
She took out a small bottle of cream from her bag.
Jiang Yunbian looked at the bottle and remembered the scent on Zhou Die that night. It was indeed Xu Zhaoruo’s.
“It’s not good,” he said with a half-smile at the girl in front of him.
Zhou Die’s fingers paused as he flipped the book. He raised an eyebrow, finding the comment strange.
Xu Zhaoruo was about to explain when Zhou Die closed the book and turned around with a smile. “Hmm, Zhaoruo, that’s not quite right.”
Xu Zhaoruo was creeped out by Zhou Die calling her by her name for the first time.
Jiang Yunbian’s neck suddenly pricked again, and the urge to provoke reemerged. Thinking about the person in front of him who had marked him made him want to kick someone.
Zhou Die raised his hand and pulled out a bottle of white tea-scented blocking agent from the cupboard. Then, while Jiang Yunbian wasn’t paying attention, he swiftly grabbed his wrist.
The cool spray quickly covered Jiang Yunbian, and by the time he reacted, Zhou Die had finished spraying.
“It’s not good to use a girl’s, so let’s use mine.”
“Cough, Zhou Die, you must be tired of living!” Jiang Yunbian was overwhelmed by the spray, and after a while, he covered his nose and looked at Xu Zhaoruo. “President, if you don’t manage him, I’ll strangle him one day.”
Xu Zhaoruo, clearly unbothered by the situation, said, “Why should I manage him? We’re all classmates. Isn’t it better to get along harmoniously?”
“Are you an idiot? Your A marking someone else and you…” Jiang Yunbian stopped mid-sentence, realizing it didn’t make sense. “What’s your relationship with him?”
Xu Zhaoruo almost laughed herself to death. “Just ordinary friends.”
Jiang Yunbian fell silent.
Xu Zhaoruo realized she shouldn’t laugh anymore. “I’ll go check if Auntie Wen needs help.”
With that, she quickly left.
Zhou Die and Jiang Yunbian remained, with an eerie atmosphere spreading between them.
“Why go to a specialist?” Zhou Die set the blocking agent down, looking at Jiang Yunbian with rare patience. “Why didn’t you tell me what’s bothering you?”
Tell you? You’ve been keeping me in the dark.
“I never said I had a relationship with Xu Zhaoruo,” Zhou Die seemed to read his mind, his long legs slightly bent. “It’s your turn now.”
As if exchanging secrets.
Jiang Yunbian couldn’t be bothered to argue. “My neck hurts. The doctor said the marking effect is mutual, just like how an A marking an O creates possessiveness.”
Zhou Die looked at him, carefully parsing each word.
In other words, Jiang Yunbian, like an O marked by an A, misunderstood Xu Zhaoruo and was jealous?
“I also feel a bit of the same provocation towards you,” Jiang Yunbian said, staring at him. “So be careful. As a high-level Alpha, I can be quite troublesome.”
He nodded seriously as if he had been restraining himself the whole time.
The person in front of him snorted lightly. Jiang Yunbian looked up to hear Zhou Die say casually, “I’m so scared.”
“By the way, Zhou Die, who did you send to the station that night?” Jiang Yunbian changed his sitting position to make his bandaged leg more comfortable.
It was rare to see Zhou Die in a “communicative” posture. Zhou Die pulled his gaze back. “The ones with the knives.”
“Oh.” Jiang Yunbian thought for a moment, almost whispering, “Thanks.”
“What?”
“Nothing.”
Zhou Die chuckled softly to himself, thinking that this person really only gave one chance.
“What’s going on with your job?”
Jiang Yunbian had already guessed Zhou Die would ask this, and it was about time: “It’s nothing, just a part-time job. I need money.”
No home, no money.
Zhou Die seemed to have guessed his situation.
Wen Yue’s meal was quickly cooked. The three children ate and then rested. Zhou Die politely gave the bed to the injured person, and by the time Jiang Yunbian tried to resist, Zhou Die had already turned off the lights and lay down on the floor.
Whether it was because the barrier on him was too effective or he was simply too tired, Jiang Yunbian, who had expected to suffer from insomnia in Zhou Die’s room, fell asleep quickly.
At three in the morning, the sound of someone turning in bed softly grazed Zhou Die’s ear.
He opened his eyes and vaguely saw shadows of varying shades in the pitch-black room.
By the side of the bed next door, a hand was hanging down.
The first time he saw this in the dormitory, it was an ankle; now, at home, it was a wrist. Jiang Yunbian looked fierce during the day but was completely unguarded when asleep.
He closed his eyes, but the light minty scent lingered in his breath, like thin sugar crystals melting on the skin.
Zhou Die felt that he had insomnia.
It wasn’t as severe at school.
Was it because of this wrist?
Unconsciously, he lifted his fingertip and gently touched Jiang Yunbian’s pinky in the darkness.
It was quite cool.
His fingertip traced the lines of the hand upwards, reaching the slightly protruding joints of the wrist. He lightly twisted along the wrist’s lines, and the minty scent grew stronger.
Zhou Die clicked his tongue.
The person on the bed mumbled vaguely, lifted his hand, and changed his sleeping position.
Zhou Die’s hand, suspended in mid-air, fell to his forehead, and his eyes fluttered shut.
The next morning, Jiang Yunbian was woken up by a phone call.
The taste of white tea mixed with another flavor, and his drowsy brain had completely forgotten his situation. He reached for the phone and answered it.
“Yun Yi?”
Zhou Die, who had only slept for three hours, was woken up by his hoarse voice. Jiang Yunbian’s speech was slurred when he first woke up, and he spoke very softly, perhaps to comfort the little girl on the other end of the line.
“Sorry, brother has something to do. I’ll come back to be with you for the National Day, okay?”
“Mm, I’ll listen to you, be good.”
After the call ended, Zhou Die groaned a few times in a low voice, like he was grumpy about his disturbed sleep.
Zhou Die lowered his eyes, wondering who disturbed whom.
Since he couldn’t sleep, he sat up, went around to the back of the bed, and looked at Jiang Yunbian’s ankle.
He reached out and tapped the good ankle bone.
Jiang Yunbian was startled and sat up instantly, almost injuring his foot.
“Why are you here?” Jiang Yunbian asked, still shaken.
“Who else could it be?” Zhou Die looked at his nearly relaxed ankle and removed the bandage: “Why do you sleep so restlessly?”
After he finished removing the bandage and supporting the ankle, Jiang Yunbian realized that his ears and side face were unusually warm.
“Wait, why are you… Let go!” His speech was already unclear.
Zhou Die frowned: “Don’t move around. You’ll dirty the sheets and have to wash them later.”
Jiang Yunbian then tensed up, belatedly realizing he was at Zhou Die’s home.
Damn it.
Zhou Die padded his foot with a small blanket, then went to get a clean towel to wipe off the remaining medicinal alcohol, and prepared to reapply the medicine.
“Um, I can do it myself.” Jiang Yunbian didn’t know why, but he felt that the person in front of him seemed a bit off.
Why was Zhou Die suddenly so nice to him?
“Aren’t you neck sore?” Zhou Die glanced at him lazily, neither cold nor warm: “Compensating you, keeping you healthy in body and mind.”
Jiang Yunbian held back for a long time, and only when Zhou Die’s hand reached up did he uncontrollably shout: “…Don’t touch my ankle!”
