The Marked Alpha Is Extremely Hard to Coax - Chapter 6
When Xu Zhaoruo returned to the hospital room, Young Master Zhou’s body was in the 21st century, but his face seemed stuck in the Ice Age.
Jiang Yunbian was sitting on the hospital bed, speaking softly, “Hmm, I’ll call you tonight. Bye-bye.”
The sickly sweet tone of his voice nearly made the recently differentiated Enigma kill with a glance.
The gentleness in Jiang Yunbian’s eyes vanished as soon as he hung up the phone. When he turned around, his expression was back to one of fierce aggression, as if he wanted to bite someone.
Wow, what a cat-and-dog fight.
“Oh, were you on the phone with your girlfriend? That was so sweet,” Xu Zhaoruo asked.
Jiang Yunbian, being an A, was naturally less aware of any sense of being “invaded.” But Xu Zhaoruo, as an O, could instantly sense the discord in that Enigma’s emotions.
She knew that Zhou Die wasn’t the type to be unable to hide his temper, but perhaps due to the Enigma’s possessiveness over its prey, Zhou Die had already developed a desire to control the Alpha in front of him.
This is why he was developing all sorts of prejudices against Jiang Yunbian.
Jiang Yunbian frowned. “No, that was my sister.”
As soon as he spoke, the tangible sense of possessiveness retreated by seventy percent.
“Oh, it was just a misunderstanding.” Xu Zhaoruo glanced at the two of them and, considering how long Zhou Die had been there, figured he must have explained the test results to Jiang Yunbian. Trying to smooth things over, she said, “Let’s put last night’s incident behind us. Everything that needed to be handled has been taken care of, and since we’ll be classmates from now on, let’s get along.”
Zhou Die stood languidly by the windowsill, the light behind him outlining his figure faintly, making him look particularly relaxed.
Jiang Yunbian’s temper had mostly cooled after the phone call with his sister, and he had lost interest in arguing with Zhou Die. “No need. You rich people and I are from different worlds.”
He threw off the covers, giving no opportunity for further conversation with Zhou Die. “Xiao Min, let’s go.”
Zhou Die didn’t say a word, and Xu Zhaoruo regretfully watched Jiang Yunbian’s back. “Sigh, he really has a bad temper, but maybe he’ll change after his differentiation? How did he react when he found out he was marked?”
Given how proud and stubborn Jiang Yunbian was as an Alpha, he probably hated Zhou Die to his core now.
Zhou Die glanced at the spot where Jiang Yunbian had just been lying. “I haven’t told him yet.”
Xu Zhaoruo: “… I don’t think playing hard to get works like this.”
“What fetish do I have that would make me want to play hard to get with him?”
“Oh, right. You don’t.” Xu Zhaoruo gave him a firm look. “Good luck, Brother Die.”
Zhou Die lowered his eyes. “From now on, you can go home by yourself after school.”
Xu Zhaoruo: “Damn, did you finally realize I’m out of my league with your Zhou family?!”
“…” Zhou Die put away the report. “I’m moving into the school dorms next week.”
—
As Jiang Yunbian was packing his things, he noticed something was off with his body.
The back of his neck would occasionally throb with a burning pain, and he was feeling especially sleepy, with every joint in his body feeling loose and weak.
Damn, could this be a side effect of being suppressed by Zhou Die’s pheromones?
Jiang Yunbian viciously threw his pillow into his suitcase. After differentiating for so long, this was the first time he’d suffered at the hands of another of his kind.
But the moment he made a big movement, his head started spinning, and he quickly leaned on the table and closed his eyes.
The wound on his arm had already been bandaged—was it possible that he had lost too much blood after getting stabbed last night?
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door of his apartment. “Xiao Jiang? Have you finished packing? You can move out by tonight, right?”
The landlord was here to push him out. Jiang Yunbian rolled his eyes as he recovered. “Yeah.”
“Good. Hey, don’t blame me for being unreasonable. It’s just that you’ve been late with the rent several times, and it’s hard for me to manage.”
Jiang Yunbian wanted to curse. A few months ago, his sister Jiang Yilai had stayed with him for a while, and since he never treated her harshly, his expenses had unintentionally exceeded his budget, causing him to be late with the rent twice—once by two days, and once by half a day. This greedy landlord then got worried he would run off and insisted on being paid quarterly starting next month.
When he couldn’t manage that, the landlord began both subtly and overtly pressuring him to move out. Now, as Jiang Yunbian packed his things, the landlord was practically hovering over him, eager to supervise the process personally.
Jiang Yunbian had been planning to find another place to rent, but after last night’s incident, he lost his part-time job, and money became tight.
If he weren’t desperate, he would never have considered moving into the school dorms.
His homeroom teacher knew about his situation and had managed to secure him a spot in the last available double room. The teacher even instructed him to reach out if he ever needed help.
Jiang Yunbian mumbled his thanks, his face flushed as he hung up the phone.
He really didn’t like troubling others.
With a rough push, he closed his suitcase, then opened the door to find the landlord leaning against it, eavesdropping.
He sneered, “Thanks for your care over the past six months.”
The landlord quickly stepped aside to let him leave. “It’s nothing. I love tenants like you who are reasonable.”
To hell with your “love.”
Dragging his suitcase downstairs, Jiang Yunbian hailed a taxi to take him back to school.
It was currently 1 PM on Sunday. From what he knew, most of the boarding students wouldn’t return until four or five o’clock, giving him about three hours to quietly move into the dorm.
His plan was to unpack, grab a meal at the cafeteria, and then contact his band in the evening to see if he could salvage his part-time gig. But once he finished organizing the dorm, his plan fell apart.
The conditions at the Third High School dorms were excellent. The double rooms had their own balconies and bathrooms, with loft beds, desks underneath, and even two wardrobes.
Jiang Yunbian didn’t have many belongings, so arranging the bed and hanging his clothes didn’t take long. But after he finished, he suddenly started to feel feverish.
This wasn’t a fever from being sick; his entire body was steaming, with weak hands and feet. The back of his neck was itchy, painful, and overly sensitive—even the slightest touch made him shiver.
At first, Jiang Yunbian thought it was just the sensitivity period kicking in, but the symptoms were completely different from what he was used to.
Unlike the irritability and anger typically associated with the sensitivity period, he was unusually calm this time, but he felt inexplicably sensitive…
Jiang Yunbian had once watched an adult film under the influence of a friend, and he was completely clueless when he first encountered such explicit content. He was bewildered for a long time before realizing he had a reaction.
Some things, though instinctive, seemed utterly absurd to him afterward, and he rarely engaged in such activities again.
Primarily because he wasn’t interested and also lacked the energy.
So he didn’t expect to suddenly lose control without any external stimulus.
In the dimly lit double room, his pale, delicate ankle peeked out from the edge of the bed. The fresh, clean minty scent spread like fine snow, falling from the bed’s edge and drifting into the corners, creating a momentary array of mint leaves.
Jiang Yunbian’s flushed face was buried in the pillow. He was lying on his stomach, with the covers scattered messily, and he was torturing himself by pressing against the bed’s railing, refusing to relieve himself.
Alpha’s uncontrollable arousal was nothing compared to this inexplicable wave of heat that he was determined to overcome today.
But the sensation was too strange. The sensitivity spread from his neck like entwining branches, moving along his body, making even the slightest movement of his legs feel like his skin was being scratched and tickled by the bedding.
Jiang Yunbian started to breathe heavily and uncontrollably, enduring and anxious, with the mist rising from his body making his vision blurry.
He was in a state of spinning dizziness, unable to hear the footsteps or the sound of a key turning in the lock outside.
When Zhou Die opened the door, it felt like he had been hit with a handful of mint leaves.
The earphones fell from Jiang Yunbian’s right ear, swaying against his chest. Zhou Die lifted his hand to catch them.
In the next moment, his long and beautiful eyebrows furrowed slightly in displeasure.
Why was someone in the dormitory?
He had received a message saying that the school had always kept a double room available for him and emphasized that no one was living there.
Yet, he opened the door to find a Omega in heat inside—what a surprise.
But as the cool minty scent spread over his skin, Zhou Die began to recognize the familiar scent within this faint aroma.
Last night in the alley, the pheromones had relentlessly stabbed into his skin, almost as if trying to cut him open. Today, however, they circled him without any aggression, gently and submissively as if inviting him.
Realizing this, Zhou Die dragged his suitcase inside, and after closing the door, the first thing he saw was the ankle exposed at the edge of the bed.
It was clean and slender, easily grasped with one hand.
Then he heard Jiang Yunbian’s low, intermittent breathing.
Zhou Die frowned and approached the bed, calling, “Jiang Yunbian?”
After calling several times, Jiang Yunbian finally stirred, responding with a muffled sound.
… It really was him.
Without thinking about why he was here, Zhou Die realized that he hadn’t clarified the situation with him yesterday. He crouched down, opened the suitcase, and pulled out a medicine box.
Inside was a box of newly formulated suppressants, prepared from the blood drawn from him last night. The doctor had said that the Omega would enter the initial special period within three days, so Zhou Die had prepared as quickly as possible. He hadn’t expected to encounter such an urgent situation.
He touched Jiang Yunbian’s hand hanging off the bed with the cold box. “Get up, I need to give you an injection.”
But Jiang Yunbian, disoriented and suddenly hit by the cold, trembled all over.
He didn’t take it. Zhou Die pushed the box into his hand again, but Jiang Yunbian reflexively brushed it away.
Zhou Die hadn’t expected him to still be temperamental at this moment. His fingers, holding the box, slipped, causing it to fall to the ground and make a noise.
Frowning, Zhou Die picked it up and discovered that the small glass vial inside the box had shattered.
Zhou Die wanted to grab him by the neck and ask if he had lost his mind due to the heat, but when he looked up, he saw Jiang Yunbian, reckless and desperate, trying to get out of bed.
The bed was over a meter high from the ground, and he crawled forward like a blind person!
Zhou Die cursed under his breath and quickly grabbed him by the waist, pulling him into his arms.
But Jiang Yunbian was a tall man at 1.8 meters. When Zhou Die caught him, he felt an intense pressure on his chest. In the next moment, Jiang Yunbian was pressed against him.
The covers he had been holding fell with a whoosh, covering both of their upper bodies completely.
The already sweet and cool minty scent filled the space, like a mint-flavored snow.
In the next second, the hot and feverish Jiang Yunbian’s lips accidentally pressed against Zhou Die’s collarbone.
The damp warmth spread across his collarbone, soothing all resistance.
Jiang Yunbian’s voice had gone hoarse, gasping out, “What the hell… did you do to me…”
The tightly wound nerves in Zhou Die’s head snapped.
