The Marked Alpha Is Extremely Hard to Coax - Chapter 68
Jiang Yunbian’s face gradually turned red, a large area of crimson spreading like paint spilled into water, vibrant under the haze of cedar and mist.
Zhou Die gently held his fingertips and brought them to his lips for a kiss: “Little Jiang, I remember someone promised me a few things.”
Jiang Yunbian looked away, not daring to meet his gaze, and mumbled a quiet “mm.”
Zhou Die’s eyes shimmered, a smile slowly spreading across his face, but he said, “If you’re not ready, then forget it.”
Although it sounded considerate, Jiang Yunbian felt it was provocative.
Why did he act like he had anticipated this all along?
He took a deep breath and pushed the person in front of him away. “Wait.”
The bathroom door was slammed shut with force. Zhou Die chuckled softly as the sound echoed, then walked to the bedside, placing the prepared items on the small table by the bed, and leaned against the edge of the bed.
Outside the floor-to-ceiling window, it was cloudy, with a gentle wind gradually obscuring the sky.
The rain drizzled down the window. He watched for a long time until the bathroom door clicked open.
Jiang Yunbian’s bangs were wet, his expression fierce as he glared at Zhou Die.
Zhou Die raised an eyebrow slightly, and just as a flash of lightning illuminated their view, the room returned to darkness the next second, with them very close, their lips touching.
Jiang Yunbian, with a vengeful stubbornness, grabbed the bathrobe, looking like he was ready to fight rather than share a tender moment.
Zhou Die’s chest trembled slightly as he laughed, the sensation conveyed to Jiang Yunbian’s palm.
Another flash of lightning.
Jiang Yunbian gritted his teeth, looking at the person pinned to the edge of the bed: “I think your earlier performance was really cowardly. Making Zhou Shao wait so long was truly unfair.”
Zhou Die protected him, casually squinting up at him: “So, are you taking over now?”
Jiang Yunbian’s hand rested on Zhou Die’s face, the sound of the blanket rustling clearly audible, the rain scene outside setting the perfect mood.
Zhou Die watched as Jiang Yunbian awkwardly and nervously showed his courage.
Alpha are naturally high-status individuals, adept at commanding, invading, and marking others, but it must have taken immense courage for them to make the decision to be marked.
Jiang Yunbian was showing Zhou Die through his actions that he was willing to give everything for him.
“Zhou Die,” he said hoarsely, calling his name.
Zhou Die’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, responding vaguely.
“What I said before wasn’t a lie,” Jiang Yunbian leaned down, “We’ll be together for a lifetime.”
*(0v0)*
Zhou Die contentedly lifted his eyelids, reaching for the small clock on the table. More than three hours had passed.
The rain outside had gone from light to heavy and was now almost stopping.
Such a commotion for so long.
Zhou Die placed the clock back, looking at the wrapped-up Jiang Yunbian, and smiled lightly: “Are you alright?”
Jiang Yunbian was tightly wrapped in the blanket, cursing continuously before finally mumbling, “Shut up.”
Zhou Die patiently soothed the little burrito, gently patting him: “Jiang Yunbian, everything was done according to your instructions. Are you still throwing a tantrum? Isn’t that a bit too hard to please?”
Jiang Yunbian wanted to spring up and headbutt him but found himself unable to move. “I’m really annoyed with you.”
Zhou Die gently tugged at the blanket: “Come out, don’t hold it in.”
Jiang Yunbian initially didn’t want to listen but felt a bit stuffy and struggled to come out.
Then he was nuzzled by the clingy Enigma, like a cat: “Baby.”
“Stop calling me that.”
“Yunbian baby.”
“Try calling me that one more time?”
“Little Yunbian sugar baby.”
“I’ll bite you to death!” Jiang Yunbian bared his teeth, trying to grab him but losing his balance and falling onto the bed.
Jiang Yunbian took a few deep breaths, realizing that he was close to falling apart.
Zhou Die picked him up, gently patting his back, like soothing a dog: “Lie down properly, don’t throw a tantrum, be good.”
“Be good my ass!” Jiang Yunbian sniffed, turning his head in embarrassment, murmuring, “One day I’ll get back at you.”
Zhou Die remembered something and looked down.
Jiang Yunbian instinctively clutched the cup, glaring at him.
“What do you want now?”
“Earlier… the mark on your belly…”
Jiang Yunbian raised his hand to cover Zhou Die’s mouth: “Enough.”
Had he been messing with him about this for so long, and now dared to bring it up?
Zhou Die chuckled, using a teasing tone: “Baby, let me see?”
“Get lost.”
Zhou Die didn’t take his little tantrum seriously, looking at him for a long time before softly saying, “Let me see it, and I’ll let you bite.”
Jiang Yunbian’s initial anger was stunned by the sudden concession, all his small emotions disappearing. His gaze involuntarily fell on the back of Zhou Die’s neck, his tongue pressing against his canine teeth.
“Really?”
“Really.”
Jiang Yunbian hesitated for a while, then slowly let go.
The red mark that had been on his belly seemed to merge with the skin, turning from an external imprint into an organic pattern, beautifully twisting into a floral shape.
Zhou Die’s palm covered it, looking up with a smile: “It looks so beautiful.”
Jiang Yunbian, disturbed by the other emotion in his eyes, coughed lightly, turning his head, gritting his teeth: “Hurry up and finish, I want to bite you.”
Zhou Die hummed in agreement, fussing for a while before finally hugging Jiang Yunbian’s waist.
“Be gentle.”
An Alpha’s desire to mark their partner is never erased; Jiang Yunbian had waited for this day for a long time.
He gently touched the back of Zhou Die’s neck, slowly and tenderly letting him relax, applying the minty scent lightly.
This excellent person in front of him belonged only to him.
“I bit you.”
Zhou Die closed his eyes, softly replying, “Mm.”
The pain of being bitten settled on the back of his neck. Enigma frowned, trying not to make a sound, maintaining the most obedient demeanor while suppressing his own raging pheromones.
His instincts were fiercely resisting, refusing to accept being touched on the gland by anyone else. The only reason he allowed Jiang Yunbian to do this was his affection for him.
Zhou Die wasn’t sure if he could handle the Alpha injecting pheromones, but he would try his best to endure.
“Mm.”
Jiang Yunbian cleared his throat, turning his face away to cough.
When Zhou Die looked up, the scent of cedar quickly filled the room.
Zhou Die gently stroked his spine, asking with concern, while Jiang Yunbian glared at him with reluctance.
“Damn.” Jiang Yunbian muttered under his breath.
“What’s wrong?” Zhou Die asked, “How can biting someone make you choke?”
Jiang Yunbian wanted to tell him it wasn’t him choking but that Zhou Die’s pheromones only allowed him to go this far.
He wanted to pierce the gland with his canine teeth, but the cedar scent started to spread from deep within, stopping him. Jiang Yunbian had to halt his thoughts.
This wasn’t Zhou Die’s rejection, but a physiological constraint.
Zhou Die lowered his eyes, thinking quietly for a long time, then softly said, “Try again?”
Jiang Yunbian wanted to agree, but the cedar scent immediately enveloped his shoulder, making him feel a bit weak.
Unwillingly, he hit Zhou Die’s shoulder, then collapsed into the pillow: “Forget it.”
Anyway, it was bitten, just not broken.
Seeing Jiang Yunbian’s helpless and resigned expression, Zhou Die lay down beside him and gently kissed the corner of his eye.
“Yunbian, you’re really good to me.”
“…” Jiang Yunbian’s face turned red. “Stop imagining things. I just couldn’t bring myself to bite.”
“Hmm.” Zhou Die looked at him seriously. “That’s still good.”
Jiang Yunbian ground his canine teeth and then lifted the blanket to cover both of them.
“Then make it a bit better.”
*
Jiang Yunbian experienced the formidable nature of Enigma firsthand.
If it weren’t for the extra two days of vacation he had, he might have had trouble getting back to school.
Fortunately, Zhou Die was considerate and took good care of him over the next few days, even personally escorting him to the classroom.
On the first day back at school, Jiang Yunbian found out that Wen Lin had withdrawn from school.
It was reportedly due to family reasons, and he voluntarily left after negotiations to go abroad, but no one knew the real reason.
It was a good thing he was out of his life; if it weren’t for the strict regulations here, Jiang Yunbian would have bought some firecrackers to celebrate.
Two weeks into the semester, as students adjusted to university life, the school started its club recruitment activities.
Senior Qu Ling repeatedly sent messages to Jiang Yunbian, enthusiastically inviting him to audition for the band.
Jiang Yunbian suddenly remembered the fan from Weibo.
He took out his phone and typed: [I have someone I like, sorry.]
After a while, he received a reply from the sweet little kitten: [I don’t believe it. Do you find me annoying? I’m just silently liking you, without crossing any boundaries.]
Jiang Yunbian found the person a bit baffling.
[You’re at C University, right?]
[Sweet Little Kitten: Yes.]
[Tomorrow night, there’s a band audition. Come, and I’ll explain things to you.]
Jiang Yunbian was never good at beating around the bush. If he couldn’t avoid something, he had to face it head-on.
Zhou Die clearly had more classes than Jiang Yunbian. When he returned home after a day of classes, Zhou Die was still at school.
Jiang Yunbian lay in bed, feeling dazed, thinking Zhou Die really had no sense of vigilance, leaving an Alpha alone at home…
If he was secretly meeting fans, wouldn’t Zhou Die be in danger?
Jiang Yunbian turned over and saw a photo of himself and Zhou Die from high school Truth or Dare in his phone’s gallery.
He poked at Enigma’s face and muttered, “You’re really lucky, meeting an Alpha who is so devoted to you.”
Then he tossed his phone aside and curled up in the blanket to sleep.
When Zhou Die came back, Jiang Yunbian was deeply asleep.
The food on the table hadn’t been touched. Zhou Die heated it in the microwave, changed clothes, and then remembered the private message he received on Weibo. He put down his things, walked to the bedside, and gently kissed Jiang Yunbian’s lips.
Then, with some indulgence, he said, “What if you’re angry?”
Jiang Yunbian felt someone touching his face, groggily waking up, and instinctively crawled into Zhou Die’s embrace.
Zhou Die held his waist and asked, “Have you eaten?”
Jiang Yunbian softly said he had.
Zhou Die kissed him and tucked the blanket around him, saying, “Then rest early. I’ll wash the dishes after dinner.”
Jiang Yunbian wanted to continue sleeping, responded with a sound, and then didn’t react further.
The next morning, when Jiang Yunbian woke up, Zhou Die was already back at school. Jiang Yunbian glanced at the time and remembered Zhou Die had a full schedule again.
This major really deprived him of the chance to date.
Jiang Yunbian angrily pounded his pillow and then got up to wash up.
After his afternoon class, Jiang Yunbian met with Senior Qu Ling to go to the band audition.
Senior Qu Ling was very happy to see him and even reserved a special time slot for the audition.
Jiang Yunbian was puzzled, thinking Qu Ling was too persistent. His private message was quite clear: rejection.
Before setting off, Jiang Yunbian received another private message.
[Sweet Little Kitten: I’ve prepared a gift for you. Waiting for you on the rooftop of Changyin Building.]
Attached was a photo of a pink box with a light blue bow.
Jiang Yunbian frowned and said he didn’t want it but received no reply.
He furrowed his brows, holding his phone, planning to go to the audition site and clear things up with Qu Ling.
The audition was on the fourth floor of Changyin Building. When Jiang Yunbian arrived, he heard that Senior Qu Ling was absent and realized the person might be on the top floor.
This was too much trouble.
Jiang Yunbian put down his things and walked past the crowd of auditionees on the fourth floor to the top floor.
The top floor door was open, and the quiet environment was a stark contrast to the bustling lower floors. Jiang Yunbian took a deep breath.
“Senior, no matter what you think, I now have a boyfriend. I only recognize Zhou Die for the rest of my life. You…” Jiang Yunbian turned to the railing and saw Zhou Die standing in the corner, holding the box with the light blue bow.
Jiang Yunbian was stunned.
“Why are you here?”
Zhou Die looked at him, “A classmate was sneaking around. I followed him and found he was waiting for you.”
Jiang Yunbian was confused.
“He said he’s a fan of yours from a long time ago, liked you a lot, and planned to confess here.” Zhou Die looked down, his voice sounding both muffled and aggrieved. “I didn’t believe it, so I waited here.”
Jiang Yunbian thought it was Qu Ling who gave the gift to Zhou Die and nervously walked up to him. “It’s not like that. I didn’t know that person before, I…”
“He also told me,” Zhou Die suddenly hugged Jiang Yunbian with a hint of apology, “He said he didn’t mean to hide it from Little Yunbian. He hopes you can forgive him.”
Jiang Yunbian took a while to process this and then looked up. “Zhou Die, it’s you!”
The tall Enigma lowered his eyes, looking pitiful. “Yes, it’s me.”
“How did you…”
Click.
The gift box suddenly moved. Jiang Yunbian looked down and untied the ribbon, revealing a head of a water-blue, very beautiful, stuffed kitten.
“Meow.”
Jiang Yunbian recognized it and remembered it was Zhou Die’s profile picture and emoticons.
“This is the one that looks most like Kitty among her kittens.” Zhou Die opened the lid, letting the kitten fully appear. “I used to raise Kitty like a child, and now that she has kittens, I brought my grandchild to apologize to you.”
Jiang Yunbian’s anger was diffused by Zhou Die’s words. He turned his eyes away, “What are you doing, trying to make a connection with a cat?”
Zhou Die looked at him seriously. “Didn’t you say I look like a cat?”
Jiang Yunbian muttered under his breath and reached out to touch the kitten’s nose. “Have you no shame?”
When his fingers touched the kitten’s chin, he suddenly felt something else…
Zhou Die took his fingers and intertwined them with his own. “No need for flattery. Yunbian, I’m really sorry for hiding things from you. Will you forgive me?”
“…For the sake of your grandchild.”
Jiang Yunbian later learned the reason behind “Sweet Little Kitten.” He was so embarrassed by the situation that he wanted to bite Zhou Die but held back because of the little stuffed cat.
“Yunbian, although it’s a bit embarrassing to say this, you are the sole emotional support I have after my differentiation. It was wrong to deceive you. I will never hide anything from you again.”
Zhou Die held him, looking at the students coming and going downstairs as if watching the unknown future. “I will support you in whatever you do, whether you want to be a doctor or a singer. I promise to love only you forever.”
Jiang Yunbian leaned against him and held his hand tightly.
“So do I.”
In the setting sun’s glow, the two rings on the kitten’s collar gleamed brightly.
