The Marked Alpha Is Extremely Hard to Coax - Chapter 8
Jiang Yunbian had never wanted to break someone as much as he did now.
Zhou Die was the first and probably the only one.
He wasn’t interested in how impressive Zhou Die’s family was, but after waking up to a hospital full of doctors and nurses questioning his condition, he couldn’t help but wonder if Zhou Die would have received the same treatment had he been the one sent to the hospital.
When the cold and unfeeling Killer Jiang emerged from the hospital, a phone call brought him back to his senses.
Jiang Yun’s crying voice shocked Jiang Yunbian awake: “You said you’d call me last night, but you didn’t… I waited until dawn and had nightmares, dreaming you were fighting with a classmate and buried him… The police were looking for you everywhere…”
“… What are you thinking? I was just too tired last night. Sorry for making you worry,” Jiang Yunbian lied poorly. “It’s fine, I’m doing well at school. Dreams are the opposite of reality, you know?”
By the time he returned to the classroom, it was already ten o’clock, the break between morning classes. His classmates were staring at him with rather unusual looks.
Jiang Yunbian, with a sullen expression, walked to his seat and found that his deskmate was also absent.
The student in front, seeing him return, leaned forward, “Hey, I heard you moved into the school dorm? With Zhou Die? And that you beat him up so badly he’s afraid to come to school?”
“…” Jiang Yunbian looked up. “Who’s not coming to school?”
The student sat up straight. “Zhou Die! Yesterday, someone saw you and Zhou Die enter the dorm one after another. And then someone saw Zhou Die taking a cab to the hospital. Jiang Ge, you’re too ruthless, beating up the same person three times in less than a week since school started. Even the teachers are afraid of you! Now everyone’s saying you’re a despicable thug!”
… Since when has a despicable thug been bitten on the neck?
Jiang Yunbian closed his book. “Xu Zhan, if you want to make it to the exam day, stop chattering about that person in my ear.”
The student Xu Zhan asked, “Zhou Die?”
Jiang Yunbian raised his hand, and Xu Zhan quickly recoiled.
After sleeping through the morning classes, Jiang Yunbian lazily stretched and strolled out of the school to find something to eat. He only returned to school after he was full. As he passed by the back row, he noticed a backpack that wasn’t there in the morning.
Jiang Yunbian touched his canine teeth with his tongue.
Ah, Young Master Zhou is back.
As soon as he sat down, Xu Zhan leaned back against his desk, “Jiang Ge, do me a favor and don’t start fights in the classroom.”
Jiang Yunbian lazily raised his eyelids. “Who are you to me?”
“I’m your second… third, the third.”
Xu Zhan suddenly remembered something and looked back. “Jiang Ge, the dorm inspection last night, you weren’t there. The student council wants a response from you.”
Jiang Yunbian let the words go in one ear and out the other.
Xu Zhan added, “The one who did the dorm inspection was your nemesis, Wei Chu.”
Wei Chu, the vice president of the student council in senior year, the second in the grade from class three, and had a long-standing grudge with Jiang Yunbian.
Rumor had it that Wei Chu was a prominent figure in middle school, entering the third high school with the highest admission score. At the beginning of high school, he boasted about winning all the scholarships, only to be overshadowed by Jiang Yunbian every year.
The main reason for their feud stemmed from an off-campus physics competition.
Perhaps Jiang Yunbian’s reckless and rebellious nature made him seem out of place to Wei Chu, or maybe there were other reasons. In any case, the two participants ended up being portrayed as a top student from the third high school bringing along a pack of followers.
From that day on, Wei Chu developed a deep-seated obsession with Jiang Yunbian.
Jiang Yunbian acknowledged this with a simple “oh” and didn’t have a chance to pass on Xu Zhan’s message before his expression changed.
Someone passed by him, and Xu Zhan, seeing Zhou Die’s face, shivered and quickly made himself invisible behind a chemistry book.
Zhou Die knocked on Jiang Yunbian’s desk with his knuckles. “Come out.”
Jiang Yunbian leaned back, adjusted his collar, and stood up expressionlessly.
“How terrifying, the aura of these two big shots is more oppressive than pheromone suppression,” said a student nearby.
Xu Zhan nodded. “If things get serious, could Zhou Die be overwhelmed by Jiang Ge’s pheromones and end up in the hospital? After all, Jiang Ge is so Alpha.”
The student next to them scratched his head. “How about we place a bet? Jiang Ge is the most Alpha in the third high school. I bet Zhou Die can last a minute.”
Xu Zhan and the others: “……”
*
As he turned the corner to the administrative office’s stairs, Jiang Yunbian felt like he had exhausted all his patience.
Zhou Die really dared to have a one-on-one conversation with him.
“Zhou, I’ve made myself very clear. Since you dare to come back, don’t blame me for not giving you face.”
Zhou Die stood on the stairs, already half a head taller than Jiang Yunbian, now having to look down at him.
Even with his emotionless expression, Zhou Die made Jiang Yunbian’s hand itch. Just as he was about to reach out and pull Zhou Die closer, he heard Zhou Die say, “The Reverse reaction cannot be stopped, but it can be delayed. All your medical reports are out. The hospital has already analyzed them. As long as you cooperate, you can remain an Alpha to others.”
Regarding his health, Jiang Yunbian restrained his urge to lash out. “Cooperate with what?”
“Suppressant and regular check-ups,” Zhou Die’s gaze fell on Jiang Yunbian’s shoulder, looking at the back of his neck, which was covered by his coat. “Is the wound treated?”
He didn’t expect the two of them to continue discussing health issues, but he asked anyway.
So, the next second, Jiang Yunbian grabbed Zhou Die’s collar with both hands and opened his mouth to attack his neck!
But Zhou Die was prepared, raising his hand to cover Jiang Yunbian’s lips and withstanding the force of his bite.
Jiang Yunbian had sharp canines, and he bit hard, making a cut on Zhou Die’s right hand, spitting out the blood before Zhou Die’s pheromones could spill out.
Zhou Die glanced at his palm. “If you can’t talk properly, I can put you in a trap.”
Jiang Yunbian wiped his lips and sneered. “Oh? I thought Young Master Zhou was fearless and prepared to be marked by me when you invited me to chat.”
Offending Jiang Yunbian was already a fact, and he needed to vent his anger, but it definitely wouldn’t be by marking him back.
Zhou Die slowly held the tissue in his palm. “Well, I’m prepared, but you’re not capable of it.”
Jiang Yunbian, thoroughly irritated, raised his foot to kick him. “I’m going to…”
“I was wondering who it was.” A third voice from the stairwell interrupted. “Isn’t this Jiang Yunbian? I asked you to explain to the student council why you weren’t in the dorm last night. Why didn’t you go?”
The anger was abruptly cut off, and Jiang Yunbian licked his teeth with his tongue and turned to look at the person at the stairwell.
It was Wei Chu, the one Xu Zhan had mentioned earlier.
Wei Chu was a Beta and couldn’t smell the tense pheromones in the air, only thinking they were causing trouble again. “Aren’t you two having another conflict?”
The story of their fights had spread throughout the school since the start. Wei Chu was skilled at building small groups and had long intended to win Zhou Die over, but he had had no opportunity to approach him.
When Zhou Die applied pressure on his right hand, it hurt, but he remained expressionless and looked at Jiang Yunbian, noticing the corner of his neck wound sticker.
The effectiveness of a temporary mark didn’t last long, and Zhou Die would need to apply another dose of suppressant later.
But making this person obedient was as difficult as climbing to the sky, and Zhou Die was somewhat frustrated, especially with someone chattering in his ear. “Student Zhou, you don’t come to school often. You might only know Jiang Yunbian is the top student in the grade but not his character.”
Because of family issues, Jiang Yunbian rarely caused trouble at school. Wei Chu, who hadn’t suffered from Jiang Yunbian’s temper, genuinely thought it was just rumors.
“Jiang Yunbian has a volatile temper and is combative. No matter how good his academic performance is, in the future…”
“Do you think I don’t know that?” Zhou Die interrupted.
Wei Chu: “?”
Jiang Yunbian: “.”
Zhou Die raised his hand, the tissue now stained with nearly half blood. “See? He bit me.”
The wind blew the tissue, making it seem like an exhibition.
Jiang Yunbian almost wanted to give him a matching wound on the left hand.
Wei Chu, unable to read the atmosphere, said, “Student Zhou, Jiang Yunbian is too much. Look, he threatened me at the opening ceremony and now attacks you. We should join forces with the teachers and get him punished by the school!”
Before Wei Chu arrived, the relationship between Jiang Yunbian and Zhou Die had already reached a point of imminent conflict, but after this statement, they fell into a very strange silence.
What was even stranger was that Jiang Yunbian and Zhou Die locked eyes during these three seconds of silence and shared a mutual question—why did this person think the “don’t provoke me” was directed at him?
The shared recognition of the idiot’s behavior seemed to ease their tension, and Jiang Yunbian even thought that Wei Chu was more of an idiot.
Clearly, he and Zhou Die were on the same level before.
Wei Chu was remarkably familiar with Jiang Yunbian’s bad deeds, quickly listing seven or eight major incidents.
Zhou Die seemed to be annoyed. “For retaliation, I prefer to do it myself. Let’s move aside.”
“…” Wei Chu didn’t expect Zhou Die to be this tough.
The inexplicable alliance between the two made Wei Chu look more like a clown. After a long pause, he finally said, “Jiang Yunbian, you wait for me. I’ll be number one in the grade in the monthly exam! I’ll make you apologize to me on the stage!”
With that, he ran off, with a threatening air similar to the old cliché, “I’ll be back.”
Did he really think the “don’t provoke me” was directed at him?
The tense atmosphere was broken in such a ridiculous way, leaving the two people standing in place, neither up nor down.
Finally, Jiang Yunbian looked at Zhou Die’s injured right hand. “Zhou Die, I’ve changed my mind. Kneel.”
