Under the Cheongsam Skirt - Chapter 2- Further
Both of them were momentarily stunned, and there was an unusual atmosphere in the air.
Xu Xing quickly spoke up, “Stay here. It’s so late, and I wouldn’t feel comfortable with you taking a taxi back alone. You can leave tomorrow. If you’re in a rush to go to the gallery, I’ll wake up early to take you there, okay?”
Zhao Ciqin actually had no reason to refuse.
Her family had bought her an apartment near the gallery, and occasionally Aunt Zhou would come to cook for her. Even if she didn’t go back home, it wasn’t a big deal.
Moreover, she had known Xu Xing for over a year, and they had been dating for three months. If anything were to happen, it would be only natural.
After coming to an agreement, Zhao Ciqin leaned back in a rattan chair to read, while Xu Xing sat beside her, holding some documents he had brought home.
The apartment wasn’t very spacious, but it had a living room and a bedroom. Xu Xing usually worked at a desk by the wall, but today, it seemed he was making an effort to stay by her side.
However, Zhao Ciqin found herself not as calm as she had imagined.
Xu Xing’s presence was overwhelming. Even though there was still space between them, she could feel the heat radiating from him, a scorching warmth that seemed to seep into her skin.
At this moment, Xu Xing suddenly turned his head and asked, “Is it okay if you wear my shirt after you shower?”
He was used to not wearing his gold-rimmed glasses at home, and a strand of black hair fell over his forehead, giving him a more relaxed appearance.
There was a slight smile at the corner of his lips, “Sorry, I didn’t prepare any of your clothes. I’ll make sure to do that in the future.”
In the future…
Zhao Ciqin realized that she had lost her voice in front of Xu Xing more than she had intended to today.
When it was time to take a shower, she discovered there was no hot water. It seemed that hot water was often cut off in this area of Zhongqing Street, but Zhao Ciqin had rarely encountered this issue. She gently called out, “Xu Xing.”
After a knock on the bathroom door, Xu Xing entered.
He immediately glanced at Zhao Ciqin, his Adam’s apple bobbing slightly.
She hadn’t taken off her cheongsam yet, only unbuttoning the topmost knot, revealing her fair collarbone. She wasn’t wearing any shoes and was standing barefoot on the floor, where water had splashed all over.
Xu Xing quickly looked away. “What’s wrong?”
Zhao Ciqin said, “I don’t know why, but there’s no hot water.”
Xu Xing immediately crouched down to adjust the water pipes, and in less than a minute, he let out a sigh and stood up resignedly, walking towards her.
The bathroom was small, and in just two or three steps, their bodies were almost touching.
In the midst of her confusion, she heard him speak in a low voice, “Qinqin, are you feeling a little nervous?”
The affectionate nickname was only used by her family, but since she grew up, very few people still called her that, and even Aunt Zhou called her by her full name more often than not.
Zhao Ciqin was momentarily stunned. “You mean…”
“I feel the same. I’m nervous too. My heart races when you sit next to me,” Xu Xing leaned slightly closer, taking her hand and placing it on his chest. He smiled gently, not hiding his true feelings, “I really want you.”
His gaze flickered. “Qinqin, I’m 31 years old now.”
“At this age, I understand how to love someone. As for you, I’ll take it as you have a bit of a crush on me too. Since we don’t want to miss out on each other, why shouldn’t our relationship move forward?”
