Under the Cheongsam Skirt - Chapter 26
“No one is better than you. How could I not like you?” Zhao Ciqin said anxiously. “It’s just…”
“Just what?”
Xu Xing looked at her seriously, seeming to have endless patience. He didn’t rush her, only his body warmth transmitted through his fingertips.
Zhao Ciqin lowered her eyes slightly.
It was just that she lacked confidence in her ability to maintain a relationship.
Although she didn’t want to admit it, in her previous relationship, she had been a complete failure. Aside from the outcome of divorce, none of her efforts had succeeded, and no one had even noticed.
She didn’t know how long she and Xu Xing could last, or if they could part as amicably as they were now.
Zhao Ciqin’s emotions churned.
The next moment, she heard Xu Xing ask, “Qin Qin, do you remember the day I asked you if I could tell others that I’m no longer single? You didn’t answer at the time, but today I directly told Auntie Ge that you’re my partner. Were you upset?”
Zhao Ciqin didn’t know why he suddenly brought this up, but she shook her head in a daze.
“Because you also see me as your partner. We’re the ones who hold each other in our hearts.” Xu Xing’s lips curved into a slight smile as he leaned down, pressing a warm kiss to her forehead. “Since you don’t plan to change partners, and I only plan to love you for the rest of my life, what else do we need to worry about?”
His every word carried a kind of magic, soothing her restless heart and making it warm.
Zhao Ciqin was about to shake her head again when she suddenly remembered something and looked up at him:
“Didn’t you like someone else before?”
Xu Xing’s expression first turned strange, then he chuckled softly. His hand slid affectionately to the back of her neck, pressing gently. “Are you jealous?”
“No,” Zhao Ciqin’s body trembled slightly as she spoke. “But you shouldn’t just say sweet things to me.”
Xu Xing hummed in acknowledgment.
He lowered his head, meeting her gaze. “My mistake. So, Qin Qin, don’t be angry, okay?”
His tone was gentle and sincere, enough to dissolve most of anyone’s anger, let alone Zhao Ciqin, who wasn’t angry in the first place.
Xu Xing was almost pressed against her. “But what I said earlier wasn’t entirelyå“„ you. It’s true that I like you, and it’s true that I’ll only love you for the rest of my life. If one day you grow tired of me, I’ll have to defend myself in court.”
“Defend what?”
“Of course, that you stole my heart and won’t return it.”
Zhao Ciqin’s cheeks warmed.
She didn’t understand how this man could always say such sweet words so effortlessly.
After the two of them cuddled for a while, Zhao Ciqin suddenly remembered that the clothes still needed to be hung. She tried to get up, but Xu Xing gently pressed her back down.
He said, “You sit here. The window doesn’t have a guardrail. I’ll handle hanging the clothes from now on.”
Zhao Ciqin sat on the table, looking up at him.
Xu Xing indeed had an advantage in this regard. With his long limbs, he could easily hang the clothes outside.
A gentle evening breeze blew in through the window.
The remaining items in the basin were the cheongsam she had worn today, her silk underwear, and finally her brassiere. When hung on the clothes rack, the shape of the cups was clearly defined. After hanging the clothes, Xu Xing looked at her, his Adam’s apple bobbing silently. Suddenly, he asked, “Are you wearing it now?”
Most brassieres nowadays were made of white cotton thread and weren’t very comfortable. Zhao Ciqin rarely wore one to bed.
She didn’t understand why he was asking this but still replied, “No.”
as soon as the words left her mouth, she suddenly felt something slip under the hem of her robe. Calloused fingers gently caressed the inside of her thigh, though they didn’t venture further up.
Then, Xu Xing’s voice came, soft as a whisper, “Then can I check?”
