Wrong Love (1v1 High H) - C3
C3 Doesn’t Yield to Soft Approaches
Lu Jinnan was stopped by her outstretched arm, standing still right there. It was just after school, and students who were eager to gossip^1 slowed down their steps. Some even began to egg things on.
Wen Nuan fished the letter out of her pocket and handed it to Lu Jinnan.
“This is for you.”
Lu Jinnan glanced at the letter in her hand with a look that screamed this has nothing to do with me, showing no intention of taking it.
Wen Nuan stared at him, dumbfounded that he was just standing there, making no move to accept it.
“Hey, what are you looking at? Take it!”
It was the first time Lu Jinnan had seen a girl hand a love letter to a boy without even a shred of shyness—especially in front of so many people—without avoiding it at all. This was actually… quite amusing.
He didn’t respond to her and instead walked around the arm that blocked his way, passing by her side.
“Hey, you, stop right there!”
Lu Jinnan paid her no attention and kept walking forward.
“Hey, what’s with you? How can you be like this? Have you studied yourself stupid? This is your letter!”
He still walked on, completely ignoring her existence.
What was wrong with this guy? Had studying fried his brain? She’d thought delivering a letter would be easy, but it turned out like this—he didn’t even want it. Now how was she going to explain things to Nana?
At noon, when she took the letter, she’d told Nana not to worry.
And now? What even was this? Why did Nana have to like such a wooden block? So what if he was a bit handsome and got good grades—was that supposed to be impressive?
Watching Lu Jinnan’s back disappear from sight, the surrounding onlookers, seeing there was no more drama to watch, gradually dispersed.
Wen Nuan pulled out her phone, wanting to text Nana that she hadn’t been able to deliver the letter, but she hesitated—worried Nana would be upset. After thinking for a while, she still didn’t send it.
As the saying goes, good news doesn’t spread, bad news travels a thousand miles. That night, the incident had already made its way onto the school forum under the title: Female Slacker vs. Male Top Student.
The next morning, the whole school was buzzing—it was impossible not to hear about it. She’d become famous in school overnight.
After evening self-study^2, she was summoned to the office by her homeroom teacher for a lecture, advising her not to date early. Where did that even come from?
In any case, the teacher went on and on—saying that it was already their senior year, that the academic pressure was high, that she wasn’t studying properly, and so on. Wen Nuan kept her head down, staring at her shoes, not daring to meet the teacher’s eyes. There were other teachers from different classes in the office too. Ugh, so embarrassing—she just wanted to dig a hole and crawl into it.
Night market.
Wen Nuan and Su Na ordered a few skewers of grilled food and two cans of beer.
“Nuan Nuan, I’m sorry. If it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t have ended up like this,” Su Na said, guilt in her voice.
Wen Nuan rolled up her sleeves, picked up a skewer from the plate, and took a bite. While chewing, she said, “Nana, this isn’t your fault. If anyone’s to blame, it’s that jerk Lu Jinnan. He’s way too arrogant. Our school has plenty of boys—sure, none are as good-looking as him, but it’s not hard to find someone you like. Why do you have to go for that jerk? What’s so great about him?”
After swallowing her food, Su Na said, “Nuan Nuan, I don’t even know. I just like him. Every time I hear his name, I get so nervous. Whenever I see him, my heart starts pounding like crazy, and I can’t even get my words out. I stutter when I talk to him.”
After saying this, Su Na picked up her beer and took a sip.
Wen Nuan stared at her with wide eyes, question marks all over her face. She didn’t understand any of this kind of thing.
“Nana, you can’t be serious. You really get like that? I just don’t get it. What’s so attractive about that guy that makes you like him so much? If you ask me, the heavens just gave him a face to turn heads and a perfect body, and that’s got you all bewitched. I don’t think there’s anything special about him.”
After saying this, she took a sip of her own beer. “Ah, that’s good. I only love good food. All that love and romance stuff? I don’t get it, and I’m not interested.”
Wen Nuan went on, “If it weren’t for your sake, I would’ve beaten that guy up a long time ago.”
Su Na listened, then took another sip of her beer.
Wen Nuan looked at her, seeing the absent, dazed expression on her face, and felt a pang of sadness for her.
