Wrong Love (1v1 High H) - C4
C4 Block Him
“Nana, don’t just drink, eat something. If you keep drinking like this, you’ll get drunk. Anyway, what’s done is done—don’t worry. I’ll make sure to help you get that jerk, and by the time I’m done, he’ll be begging you to be his girlfriend.”
Su Na finally showed a faint smile at the sight of Wen Nuan speaking so indignantly on her behalf.
She asked curiously, “Nuan Nuan, what are you going to do? You’re not actually thinking of hitting him, are you?”
“What, feeling sorry for him already?” Wen Nuan teased.
“Oh, come on, Nuan Nuan, stop making fun of me.”
“Heh, alright, alright, I won’t tease you anymore. He’s your future husband, which makes him my future brother-in-law. No matter how much I dislike him, for your sake, I won’t actually do anything to him. You can rest easy.”
The two exchanged a glance and broke into laughter together.
In truth, the two of them were almost the same age—Wen Nuan was only one day older than Nana.
Wen Nuan raised her can of beer. “Come on, here’s to that jerk Lu Jinnan* falling at your feet sooner rather than later. Cheers!”
“Cheers.” Su Na lifted her own beer can to clink against Wen Nuan’s, and they each took a big gulp.
Wen Nuan shouted loudly, “Ah! So good!”
Su Na looked at this cheerful and lively friend of hers—someone who could always bring her joy and comfort her whenever she was upset. This whole situation had started because of Wen Nuan, yet now it was Wen Nuan who was consoling her instead.
The night grew late. After they were full from food and drink, the two said goodbye and each took a cab home.
The next morning, Wen Nuan left the house earlier than usual—fifteen minutes earlier, in fact. She bought two breakfasts: one for herself and one for Lu Jinnan.
And so it went for half a month, with her delivering breakfast every day, yet the bookworm hadn’t given her the slightest response.
“Damn it, this Lu Jinnan is seriously too much. I’ve been bringing him breakfast every morning for two weeks, and there’s still no sign of life from him. How can his heart be this cold?” Wen Nuan muttered restlessly to herself.
She lay on her desk, tapping her head with a pen, unable to figure it out. Back then, she’d pounded her chest in front of Nana, vowing to make that little punk Lu Jinnan willingly fall under her charms—and now? The guy had shown absolutely zero reaction.
Her mind spun over and over. There had to be some step where things went wrong.
No, this didn’t make sense—weren’t guys supposed to like girls who were attentive and gentle? Why didn’t it work on Lu Jinnan? Where exactly was the problem?
The class bell rang.
The entire day, Wen Nuan couldn’t stop thinking about it. After evening self-study, she packed her bag and rushed to the alleyway where Lu Jinnan always passed on his way home. She blocked the one route she knew he had to take. She’d been watching him for a while now and knew his after-school path like the back of her hand. The only thing she didn’t know was why, after half a month of her attention, he had shown no sign at all.
No way she was letting this go. If she didn’t help Nana win him over, how would she ever face her again? It had already been half a month, and she hadn’t dared to contact Nana at all. Just thinking about how confident she’d been back then made her feel ashamed. If she failed, she really wouldn’t have the face to see her again.
Now she was terrified of meeting Nana—she could imagine how anxious Nana must be. She had never felt this troubled before; this was truly a problem for her.
While she was deep in thought, a tall, well-built figure appeared before her. Under the moonlight, he looked to be about 1.88 meters tall*, carrying a single-shoulder bag over his left shoulder and gripping its strap with one hand as he walked in her direction.
The moonlight shone on his sculpted face. His straight nose seemed even sharper under the light, exuding a chilling coldness. His jet-black eyes were like two bottomless pools, occasionally glinting with an unfathomable black light, mysterious and unreadable. His thin lips curved into a cold arc, and the slight upward tilt at the corners carried a trace of mockery, as if there was always some deep-seated hatred hidden in his heart…
Yes—this was the person she had been waiting for tonight: Lu Jinnan.
She crossed her arms, a dried blade of grass between her lips, and leaned against the wall, watching as he drew closer and closer.
Just as Lu Jinnan was about to pass by her, she stretched out a hand and blocked him at chest level…
